Il y a 2 ans j’ai effectué le tour de Corse en moto, et franchement, c’était génial. A tel point que j’hésite à y retourner. Mais pourquoi ne pas découvrir d’autres lieux certainement aussi magnifiques…la SARDAIGNE !
Alors si vous êtes déjà allé en Sardaigne à pied, à cheval, en voiture, à vélo, en moto, … je suis preneur de tous vos conseils :

Hello! la Sardaigne, c'est vraiment génial. J y suis allé souvent. La première fois en moto en 1987, et plus tard, en camping-car avec ma femme et nos trois filles (la dernière fois en 2002). La côte nord-est est très belle, mais remplie de gens très fortunés. Il y à des camping un peu partout et nous avons toujours trouver de la place, même au mois de juillet. Ne pas oublier d'aller manger dans les ''agritourisme''. Ils se trouvent le plus souvent à l'intérieur de l'île. Il faut parfois prendre un bateau pour se rendre sur des plages vraiment superbes. Si tu as d'autres questions plus précises, n'ésite pas. Bon voyages.

J'y suis allé l'an dernier au mois de mai à moto . Rien à voir avec la Corse que j'avais fait l'année précédente. Il ne faut surtout pas comparer les 2 îles, chacune possédant ses propres atouts ; les routes de Sardaigne sont un paradis pour les motards car le revêtement est nickel sauf à la traversée des agglomérations et puis les courbes... j'en ai encore des frissons! Pour l'hébergement, nous avons choisi l'agence ODALYS vraiment pas cher à cette sison (159€/semaine pour un appartement 5/6 personnes sur la Costa Paradiso).J'y suis resté une semaine et j'ai surtout visité la partie nord ; je possède pas mal de doc sur mon séjour et d'infos recueillies sur internet dont le récit d'un séjour effectué en pick-up + cellule mobile qui recèle une mine de renseignements très intéressants que j'ai téléchargé et qui ne sont malheureusement plus accessibles sur le net.Je te propose te te les envoyer directement par courriel.

caniche69, je suis très intéressé par les infos que tu as recueillies sur ce voyage. Je t’envoi mes coordonnées en mail privé.
Je détaille un peut mon projet :
On compte partir à 5 ou 6 faire le tour de l’île et visiter un peut tout ce qu’il y a à voir. Pour ça je compte entre 10 et 15 jours. Pour l’hébergement, j’avais pour idée de changer de lieux d’hébergement tous les jours. Pour ça il y a le camping ou l’hôtel qui s’y prête bien. Deuxième solution, louer 1 appartement la 1er semaine dans le nord et un autre dans le sud pour la 2eme semaine.
Q’en pensez vous, avez vous des adresses à budget raisonnable. J’ai regardé le site d’ODALYS. C’est vrai qu’ils ont de appartement vraiment pas cher. Par contre après le 12/05 ça augment pas mal. A quelle période y êtes vous aller ? Quelle est la meilleure période ?

Dans le groupe, il y a une personne qui n’a pas de moto et qui doit louer une 125 genre varadero (pas de scooter). Savez vous si c’est possible sur l’île ? Connaissez vous une adresse ?

La Sardaigne ne te décevra pas. Je suis un connaisseur de l'île de beauté et j'ai fais le tour de la Sardaigne il y a 9 ans de cela, et je n'ai pas été déçu. J'avais pris 15 jours sur cette île en duo sur une R 1100 GS tout en bivouac, en août. Sur la partie Nord ok, ensuite sur la partie Sud gros soucis de chaleur. Impossible de rouler après 11h00 du mat. Trop chaud. Les campings rarement cleans et peu nombreux à mon goûts, rien à voir avec ceux que j'avais connus ailleurs. Les gens étaient supers sur les côtes. Dans l'intérieur certains te laissent des frissons dans le dos. Tu ne verra aucune moto rouler la bas et je ne sais pas te dire pourquoi. Si tu parles un peu d'italien sur la cote tu sera reçu a bras ouverts. Si tu as un problème tu verra des gens arriver pour te secourir sans savoir d'ou ils viennent et tu ne les verra même pas repartir. La côte est magnifique. J'ai adoré les plages, et toutes ces îles qui sont accessibles en permanence par bac. tu grimpe direct en bécane sur le pont et vogue sans même en descendre. 1/4 d'H après tu débarque. Génial!
j'ai fais le tour de l'île et une diagonale dans l'intérieur. je te conseille de village d'ORGOLOSO avec ses fresques murales sur le marxisme, le léninisme et je t'en passe. L'intérieur n'a rien a voir avec la Corse. Ca m'a paru fade sans intérêt.
Alors à + et prend de quoi te protéger du soleil si tu y vas en août car j'avais les poignets brulés par le soleil (jointure gants cross et manchs blouson)
j'ai fait le tour de corse 1° quinzaine de juin 2005 en guzzi . et c'etait génial .
nous avons debarqué à bastia et fait le choix de faire le tour de l'ile dans le sens des aiguilles de montre ( dans ce sens tu roules toujours cote falaise et non cote vide, il me fallait rassurer ma femme !) jusqu'à bastia pour repartir . environ 1500 kms de virages . dans l'ensemble le revetement est moyen les routes etroites et sinueuses mais les sites geniaux, la vue ........ et les corses hyper sympas. nous n'avions rien réservé et fait tout notre sejour en hotel ou chambre d'hotes sans aucun probleme . un seul soir il a fallu demander à 2 hotels pour trouver une chambre. nous avons roulé ( 40 à 50 kms de moyenne) mais aussi fait visites et farniente (plage, baignade ...) nous n'avons fait que peu de virées à l'interieur, il faut faire des choix et notre volonté etait de faire le tour de l'ile . simplement en partant de bastia nous sommes monté vers corte et revnu vers la cote par les aiguilles de bavella . car la cote est de l'ile est pas tres belle .

J'ai toujours pas fait le tour de la Sardaigne en moto, contraintes professionnelles obligent.
Par contre, si tout va bien, je devrais le faire en septembre. Je suis entrain d’organiser ça. Certainement sur une durée de 15 jours et en passant par la Corse.
Nous ne savons pas partir avant le 28 septembre.....mais après nous avons le temps pour 2 semaines....

Parce que c'est magnifique et que ça me permet d'y faire un petit saut rapide. Mais surtout parce que les traversées (au départ de Marseille) pour la Sardaigne se font généralement en milieu de semaine et non le week end. En tous cas, c'était comme ça pour le mois de Mai, la faut que je regarde pour voir si c'est pareil.
On risque de se croiser, pour le moment, c'est bien partis pour la 2eme et 3eme semaine de septembre.
Quel mode d'hébergement compter vous utiliser (camping, location appt. chambre d'ôtes, chez l'habitant, ...)?
la Corse mérite plus qu une traversée rapide.....il faut lui consacrer au minimum 8 jours
On ne risque pas de se croiser si nous partons fin septembre ....à moins que tu nous attendes

Pour la corse, j'ai déjà fais le tour en moto en 2005 sur 8 jours. Donc la, repasser par la corse, ça me permet de me remémorer quelques souvenirs.😎
Sinon, j'ai un SV650S, mais je vais pas faire ce voyage tous seul. On risque d'être nombreux...
C'est pour ça qu'on envisage de louer une maison dans les terres (les prix sont correct en cette saison), mais il y a le risque que ça restreigne nos déplacements en moto. On hésite entre ces 2 méthode d'hébergement :
un point fixe (maison, villa, appt)
hébergement improvisé au jour le jour (camping, hôtel, gîte, ...)

quelques infos:
a voir: STINTINO, ALGUERO, LA COTE OUEST jusquà BOSA, pas plus au sud, sans grand interet;le massif du SUPRAMONTE, la cote EST depuis CALA GONONE et jusqu'à la COSTA SMERALDA, enfin redescente sur le nord de la cote OUEST par la COSTA PARADISO.
Trés belles routes en bon état, c'est surtout une iles de plages et de cotes escarpées, mais moins qu'en CORSE.
A conseiller, l'hotel MODERNO à SANTA TERRESA DI GALLURA, ainsi que le camping de CALA GONONE.

Je suis bien d'accord, le sud de la Sardaigne ne présente pas un gros intérêt, mais il faut tout de mème aller voir les dunes de Piscinas, et les anciens site miniers des environs. Les routes de sardaigne sont super, un vrai billard, et les paysages super. C'est une destination que nous organisons depuis plus de cinq ans, et tous les motards que nous avons envoyé la bas sont revenu enchantés.

Merci pour les renseignements précieux concernant la Sardaigne que vous avez communiqués. Nous avons effectué le circuit en moto que vous avez conseillé ce qui nous a permis de découvrir les plus beaux paysages de la Sardaigne. Nous sommes allés également à l'hotel MODERNO à SANTA TERESA DI GALLURA et c'était plus que parfait, très jolies chambres, très bonne literie, un bon petit-déjeuner et un accueil exceptionnellement chaleureux des propriétaires qui se mettent en quatre pour vous faire plaisir. Une excellente adresse à un prix très intéressant. L'autre adresse à retenir est l'hotel POP à CALAGONONE, les chambres y sont très simples mais la cuisine du restaurant y est délicieuse. Un voyage en Sardaigne très agréable malgré un temps pas très clément.😏

Pour l'hébergement, nous avons tout fait en camping. Nous avions le guide du routard, ça nous a bien aider des fois pour les trouver. Une seule fois nous avons pas trouvé dans la région d'Oristano donc camping sauvage sur la plage. Pour les tarifs, on en avait pour max 10€/personnes (avec moto à l'intérieur). Je crois pas qu'un vélo ça paye..a vérifier.
Pour manger, ya des snack mais il servent souvent des "panini" assez étrange et pas très bon, vaut mieux une bonne pizza pour pas beaucoup plus cher.
Les routes sont vraiment en super état, au top!
Juste une recommandation, fait attention dans la montagne proche de Nuro, j'ai remarqué que les locaux roulent presque tous en voiture surpuissante et ils pilotent sur route ouverte...
De plus compte tenu du relief et du nombre de virages que l'on trouve dans cette région, il y a beaucoup de motos qui forcément envoient un peu sur la route. Je pense qu'en vélo c'est pas l'endroit le plus rassurant de la Sardaigne.
Pour le relief, la Sardaigne c'est pas tout plat. Mais c'est surtout dans la région de Nuro que ça grimpe le plus.
Je pense que le mois de Mai est une bonne période pour partir laba. Moi en septembre, la végétation était grillée et il y avait des feux un peu partout. Çà donnait un aspect désertique qui n'est pas forcément des plus charmants.

New to the forum, but not so new to Asia 😄
I’m Nico, from Switzerland, currently based in Bangkok. I love taking my motorcycle out to get lost in the mountains and small villages of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and more. I’ve been roaming around this area for a good fifteen years now, racking up quite a few kilometers—especially in northern Vietnam.
This time, I finally decided to tackle the Mae Hong Son Loop, clockwise. I’d been to Pai several times before, but oddly enough, I’d never done the full loop.
So, I’ll try to give you a little recap here, day by day, with the roads, stops, places worth checking out… and those that didn’t quite blow my mind 😅
I also filmed the trip, so I’ll post the corresponding video at the end of each day if that’s okay. If it’s not allowed here, just let me know, and I’ll remove them without any issue.
DAY 1 — Chiang Mai → Doi Inthanon → Mae Chaem → Khun Yuam
I left Chiang Mai after renting a Honda ADV 160 from Pop Motorbike. Not exactly an Africa Twin, but for what I had planned, it was more than enough.
Quick hotel note: I stayed at the Lanna Thaphae Hotel before leaving. Around 30 € per night, super well-located, and probably one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. A crucial detail for any motorcycle road trip, obviously.
The plan for the day was pretty straightforward:
Head toward Doi Inthanon… and see what happens.
Flawless Swiss organization.
First stop along the way at Wachirathan Waterfall. A really nice waterfall, very easy to access, but don’t expect to channel your inner Indiana Jones—it’s crowded, touristy, and swimming isn’t allowed. Still, it’s a pretty stop along the way.
Next, up to Doi Inthanon.
The road climbs steeply, and my little 160cc started to realize that carrying my 80 kg to Thailand’s highest point probably wasn’t part of its youthful dreams. I was maxing out at 34 km/h in some spots.
But it made it. Good little bike.
The summit is nice—the forest is beautiful, and it’s cool—but I have to admit, it didn’t completely wow me. Glad I went, but not necessarily the highlight of the day for me.
Because then comes Route 1192.
And that’s *much* more my thing: small mountain roads, beautiful scenery, hardly any traffic… the kind of road where I usually start taking way too many unnecessary detours just because a little side road “looks fun.”
Stopped in Mae Chaem for a bite to eat, then headed to Khun Yuam to finish the day.
A little over 200 km in total.
Khun Yuam is… quiet.
*Very* quiet. 😅
A cute little market, a couple of cafés/restaurants, and zero chance of ending up in a club until 4 AM. But after a day on the bike, it was perfect.
Stayed at the Mit Khun Yuam Hotel, around 20 € for a small but very decent room.
All in all, a solid first day and a pretty relaxed start to the loop. Part of this leg is mostly about getting out of Chiang Mai and really diving into the mountains, in my opinion.
Because for me, the really interesting stuff starts over the next two days…
And a few slightly questionable route decisions will also make an appearance 😅

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello everyone! Like every year, a winter migration is on the horizon (revised plan): this time, it’ll be Dakar, or even Abidjan, via Morocco, Mauritania, and Senegal.
Looking for an experienced motorcyclist or pillion rider—small build preferred—on a GSA 1250 with a comfy seat and luggage setup, available from early November to late December 2025. I’d like to plan the trip together (important to me) to make sure we’re on the same wavelength.

Looking for travel companions to ride from France to Senegal by motorcycle.
I’m Paul, 37, and I’ve already done a bit of riding in Morocco.
For now, I’m solo, riding a 1998 SUZUKI DR 650 with some basic gear to keep things smooth. I’ll have a tent so we can do a few nights under the stars.
We’ll need to coordinate departure dates—"ideally in November."

We’re thinking of renting motorbikes, especially to do the Ha Giang Loop. We don’t have an international license, just our Belgian one. Is that enough? If not, is it risky?

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?
I understand we need to book online rather than on-site.
