Hi there, We’re planning to explore Uzbekistan this summer (with the weather constraints that come with it). Our itinerary includes the three classic cities plus a few side trips here and there. We still have one week left that we’d like to dedicate to hiking. We were thinking of heading to Kyrgyzstan, but I’m open to other suggestions if we stay in Uzbekistan. Thanks!

Hi there,

In addition to the 3 "classic" cities, it's worth staying 2 or 3 days in Tashkent. Obviously, the capital doesn't reveal its charms right away, but it lets you discover a less touristy side of the country. I combined my trip with a full week in Kyrgyzstan by taking a train from Tashkent—it’s doable, though in a week you’ll only see a small part of Kyrgyzstan.

Hi there, I'm heading to Uzbekistan in 10 days. In addition to Tashkent and the 3 must-see cities, I've added the Fergana Valley and an extension to Samarkand for a hike in the Tersak mountains. If you're interested, I can get back to you after my trip. Best, Pepita

Hi there Well... how to put it... Tashkent... If you're into "urban" vibes, why not... though I already feel Samarkand looks too much like a European city... so the capital... If you want to soak up Central Asia, you should prioritize Khiva, Bukhara, and try to make a trip to the Aral Sea. Visit the spots in Samarkand... and the rest?
