Bonjour. Je rentre d'une randonnée en 4x4, routes et pistes d'environ 2600 km faite en 14 jours dont voici l'itinéraire: marrakech-piste telouet à ait benhadou. Piste skoura à toundout à imi oulaoun. Route d'aguerd à kantola. Vallée des roses et piste pour ait youl dans la vallée de dades via ait mrao. Gorges de dades. Piste tinhrir à aghbalou n kardous et route aghbalou nkardous-goulmina-amelago-gorges gheris-assoul-ait hani todgha-boumalne dades. Piste du saghro-ikniouin-tizi n tazazert nkob. Route/Piste sur la rive gauche du draa à partir de tamnougalt. Route Agdez-taznazkht-talouine. Piste pour l'oasis d'asragh et aguinane et retour à talouine. Talouine-igherm-tlat tagmout-tata. Tata-icht-akka-ait ouabelli et Piste pour l'oasis de tadakoust et celle de tamezrar. Route pour amtoudi et Piste et route pour khmis ouafka et tafraout. Piste pour l'oasis d'igmir et retour à tafraout. Route pour anezi-larbaa ait ahmed et l'oasis de la tortue et retour à tafraout. Route pour ait abdellah-tighermine et piste pour agadir tasguent-agadir dou tagadirt-ben driss-agadir itourhaine et retour à tafraout. Tafraout à marrakech.

Informations utiles sur ce circuit:

Les fortes précipitations enregistrées durant la 2° quinzaine de décembre ont fortement endommagées certaines routes et pistes(radiés ou ponts emportés, chaussées défoncées..) les réparations pouvant prendre du temps, il est nécessaire de se renseigner auprès des villageois du coin sur l'état d'une route secondaire ou d'une piste avant de l'emprunter.

- Pistes telouet à ait benhadou: Les travaux de terrassement et de gros oeuvres sont bien avancés.Certaines personnes n'hésitaient pas à emprunter cette piste avec une voiture de tourisme avant les dernières pluies.A éviter car il y a un passage d'oued qui ne pourra pas être franchi avec une voiture basse. Il faut compter encore sur un minimum d'une année pour la finalisation de cette route.

- route/piste skoura-toundout-aguerd-imi oulaoun-tamezrit et amezri(sur la tasssaout) Très belle vallée"kantola" équipée maintenant d'une route de aguerd au village de kantola. Après kantola, une piste étroite(à ne pas emprunter avec un gros 4x4)permet de réaliser une boucle et de visiter de superbes villages isolés de la vallée des ait affan(tighouzzirine-assaka-immassine) puis de rejoindre la piste aguerd/amezri au niveau du village imi ou laoun.avant d'emprunter cette piste, se renseigner sur son état sur place auprès des villageois ou en téléphonant au préalable au proprio du gite de imi oulaoun.brahim:tel:0671086621 La piste aguerd/amezri, qui permet d'accéder à la superbe vallée de la tassaout via le tizi imi oulaoun est en travaux d'élargissement et de terrassement depuis la route goudronnée à aguerd.Le goudron viendra après. Restera en piste la vallée de la tassaout de amezri à ait ali nito, réalisation très difficile, l'oued occupant presque tout le lit de la vallée. Par contre il est prévu l'élargissement et le bitumage de la piste toufrine-ait ali nito à megdaz.

- Vallée des roses L'ancienne piste qui permettait de descendre sur tamalout et d'avoir une magnifique vue panoramique sur la vallée et les villages tamalout et boutaghrar est impraticable. J'ai essayé de la remonter depuis tamalout:impossible.il ne reste plus qu'à y accéder à pieds (1 h.aller et retour) pour pouvoir faire de belles photos de la vallée. Les travaux de gros oeuvres et de terrassement sont en cours de boutaghrar à souk sebt ait ahmed via alemdoun.Cette piste sera également goudronnée. il est prévu également de goudronner la piste qui part aprés le pont d'aznag à ait youl(sur la route des gorges de dades après la kasbah du glaoui)via la belle vallée des ait mrao et ses jolies villages:issoumar, imi ouaqua, igherm akdim, tizguine.

- Piste/route tinrhir agbalou nkardous une piste permet de rejoindre de la sortie de tinhrir, le village de izekarene situé sur la nouvelle route qui part de tinjdad ou goulmina à aghbalou n kardous et sa source.Il est ainsi possible de faire une belle boucle:tinrhir à aghbalou nkardou et retour par la route à goulmima ;puis route-amelagou-vallée du gheris-assoul-ait hani-tinrhir. La piste qui aurait permis depuis aghbalou n kardous de relier la route ait hani/todgha est toujours coupée.

- Piste ait hani-agoudal-imilchil cette piste est maintenant goudronnée.

- Piste boucle todgha/dades piste trés abimée, devenu difficile même en 4x4. des travaux de réfection ont démarrer en avril dernier sur 10 km depuis tamtatocht, mais ça traine.

- Piste de ikniouin à nkob dans le saghro il est projeté de goudronner cette piste.

- Tazzarine à taghbalt à zagora Très jolie route de tazzarine à taghbalt;ensuite piste pour zagora en mauvais état car non entretenue ni utilisée par les habitants qui préfèrent d'après leurs dires, emprunter la route taghbalt-tazzarine-tansikht-zagora.

- Piste de la rive gauche du draa de tamnougalt à tansikht. Belle nouvelle route de tamnougalt à afra nait sedrat, ensuite piste de 4km pour rejoindre un pont et regagner la rive droite à 18 km d'agdz. Possibilité de continuer par la piste jusqu'au pont de tansikht, ce trançon devant également être goudronné.

- Route talouine et piste de l'oasis de tasghar et aguinane. Epoustouflante oasis de tasghar(asarrakh sur la michelin) et aguinane accessible à partir de talouine ou de akka irhene. Cete piste sera goudronnée non de son point de départ actuel:situé 21 km avant agadir-melloul mais directement à partir de ce village, permettant ainsi de relier sur 36 km plusieurs villages. pour bénéficier des plus belles vues, il est préférable de déposer son véhicule devant l'auberge d'asghar et de faire la descente à pied à travers les différents étages de l'oasis:gandiose Bien entendu, la descente sur aguinane en 4x4 par la piste en colimaçon est impressionnante.Possibilié de faire l'aller et retour(72km de piste+40 km de route faisable en 4 h.) dans la journée à partir de talouine pour visiter cette oasis.

- Piste tighermine(route igherm à tafrout) à ben driss à touflazt Cette piste qui permet d'accéder à de beaux agadirs(tasguent-dou tagadirt-itourhaine...)est en travaux pour être goudronnée, reliant ainsi la route touflazt à taroudant

- Piste azgour(vers ait abdallah)-tazalaght-khmis issafen Piste de 43 km en travaux pour être goudronnée devant permettre de relier tafraout-azgour-khmis issafen à tata sans passer par igherm .

- Route/piste tafraout-izerbi-tahwawat-oasis d'igmir Les travaux d'élargissement, de terrassement ont démarré sur cette magnifique piste à partir de tahwawat avec liaison dans le futur avec la route imouzlag à icht. la piste pour l'oasis d'oukarda, située dans le prolongement de celle d'igmir est coupée.seule possibilité pour visiter cette oasis et de le faire à pieds à partir d'igmir(2 h.aller et retour)

- Piste ait ouabelli à l'oasis de tadakoust(18 km) et ensuite à celle de tamezrar(15 km). Piste en très bonne état permettant d'accéder à la superbe oasis de tadakoust et son agadir et à celle de tamezrar

- Route igherm-tlat tagmout-tata la région d' igherm dispose de jolies agadirs qui méritent une visite: agadir ait melal agadir tanjajamcht agadir talmoudant agadir dou ouzrou agdir ifasfas(superbe) agadir ait kine et d'autres...

- Route/piste khmis ait ouafka-anfeg-targa khdeir et jonction avec la route pour amtoudi Des travaux sont en cours pour le goudronnage d'un tronçon supplémentaire de aghoulid à ait ali ou hmad;il restera env.21 km de piste pour relier la route pour amtoudi

Bonjour désolé pour la question peut-être un peu "déplacée", mais pourra-ton bientôt compter (ou y en a-til déjà) sur des grands taxis pour relier skoura à amezri par exemple (ou au moins aguerd), si l'état de la route est praticable ? merci

Bonsoir. De toundout on peut rejoindre par la route aguerd par estafette.Pour amezri sur la tassaout pas de liaison régulière à mon connaissance , les habitants de cette région se ravitaillant au souk d'iffoulou près de toufrine.la route pour aguerd est praticable de même que la piste pour amezri.

bonjour, quand j' y suis passée il y a 2 ans j' ai croisé quelques minibus Ford bien chargés.surement un jour de souk. je rajoute quelques photos prises sur cet itinéraire

Bonjour,

ces minibus, Ford dans certaines régions, Mercedes dans d'autres, fonctionnent comme des taxis, tous les jours dans certaines vallées , les jours de souk principalement dans d'autres, comme les camions d'ailleurs.

Pas très faciles à gèrer, quand on ne connait pas les habitudes, et la prononciation du nom des douars ou l'on veut aller .... on s'éloigne énormément de la "francophonie" , mais l'expérience vaut le coup. J'ai mis une fois plus de 4 h entre un gite au nord de bou tharar et el Kelaa M'gouna, bois de charpente à livrer dans un douar et moutons dans un autre, avec traversée à gué et cahotante de l'oued M'goun, et thé pour tout le monde sur les 2 lieux de livraison.

Je voudrais aller dans cette région en avril et j'aimerais beaucoup aller dans la vallée de la tessaout à partir de la vallée du dadés (de Skoura). Combien de temps faut-il compter entre Aguerd et Amezri en estafette ?

bonsoir. Pour les photos 18 à 22, il s'agit de la kasbah du caid à tamnougalt près d'agdz et pour la dernière photos, la façade de l'auberge "chez yacoub", sa voisine. Pour les photos 32 à 36, c'est" l'agadir itourhaine" accessible par piste(route en construction)et en 4x4 à partir de tigharimine situé sur la route igherm/tafraout. Cordialement

Le jour du souk à toundout, il ya des estafette qui transportent les habitants de la vallée, au retour du souk(vers 14 h)jusqu'à amezri;je ne puis vous dire en combien de temps. cordialement

Bonjour c'est avec grand intéret que j'ai lu vôtre parcours en 4x4 à travers le pays. Voilà plus de dix ans que je sillonne les pistes de l'atlas avec le guide gandini. J'ai l'intention de faire un circuit de 3000 kms en mai prochain. Cette partie de ce superbe circuit est difficile à partir de ait ali nito à ichbaken à cause du passage prolongé dans le lit de l'oued tassaout.La fonte des neiges est presque terminée, il faut espérer que le niveau d'eau de l'oued ne dépasse pas les 30 cm.Je vous conseille de téléphoner à abdallah proprio de gite de ait ali nito avant de vous engager sur cette piste Tel.0668968263 et 0671817703.Pas de problème de amezri à skoura, la piste jusqu'à aguerd est en travaux de terrassement. Superbe circuit réalisable intégralement sans problème par route goudronnée de tinhrir-tamtatocht-ait hani(souk le jeudi)-assoul-la traversée des belles gorges du géhris-ifrane imider et ses greniers de falaises-amelago(souk le mardi)-goulmina(souk le samedi).De goulmina une nouvelle route avec de beaux paysages permet d'aller jusqu'à la vallée d'aghbalou n kardous et de revenir par la route pour tinejdad Bon voyage

Bonjour. Merci beaucoup de votre reponse. Les numéros de telephone seront vraiement utiles! J'ai déjà fait cette piste en octobre 2007, mais on a pas réussi à arriver à Amezri, parce qu'il y avait un écroulement que bloquait la piste. Et on est dû revenir à Toufghine. Mais la piste est merveilleuse, c'est pourquoi on voudrait essayer la faire cette année. On verra.

Nous avons eu la chance de faire toutes ces pistes (mais pas d'aussi belles photos :!) depuis 12 ans et cette année, au mois de mai, nous essayons la partie encore "inexplorée", l'est marocain.

Avez-vous quelques conseils à nous donner pour cette région qu'il semble préférable de faire à deux 4x4 ?

Looking for a 4x4 trail in Picos de Europa, Spain

Hi there,

I’m looking for the start of a trail in the Picos de Europa in Spain that I used over 30 years ago in a 4x4.

It began by passing under a house, and there was a café nearby.

I know it’s not much to go on, but that’s all I’ve got. The fact that the trail started by going under a house isn’t exactly common!

If anyone has any ideas, I’d really appreciate it.

Vehicle registered under one person and insurance under another for a trip to Asia

Hi there,

We’re planning a 4x4 trip from Belgium to Central Asia, passing through Georgia, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

For these countries, our national insurance obviously doesn’t cover the vehicle, so we’ll need to get local insurance.

Will it be a problem if the vehicle is registered under person A and the national insurance is under person B? Both A and B will be in the vehicle, and both will be listed as drivers on the insurance.

When we get the local insurance, if we again list A and B as drivers, does the order matter? Could we get stuck at the border for this reason?

Tires for Iceland in a Duster

Hi, For those who’ve driven on Iceland’s gravel roads in their own or a rented Duster, could you tell me what tires were fitted on the vehicle? Were they All Terrain tires or more "standard" ones like all-season tires, for example?

Follow-up question: if they were "standard" tires, did that cause any issues on the gravel roads and rough terrain?

Hi there, I'm planning a 4x4 road trip from Darwin to Broome with a rooftop tent in July 2026. I'd like to know if I need to book overnight stops in advance or if I can just wing it and stop wherever I feel like it? I’m planning a trip to Iceland for next July-August, with a car and tent, and I’m wondering about booking campsites. From your experience, is it necessary or even essential to book campsites in advance, or do you always manage to find a spot to pitch your tent?

We’ll also have the option to sleep in the car without pitching the tent. Does that give us the flexibility to stay outside a campsite for a night here and there?

What map for a Middle Atlas road trip?

Hi, I’m planning a road trip in the Middle Atlas, starting and ending in Fez and heading down to the south of Midelt, the Assoul Massif.... We’ll be traveling with two small 4x4s. I’m looking for detailed maps of this region that include small roads and tracks. 13-day 4x4 Morocco road trip: feedback on itinerary and desert crossing

Hi everyone,

We’re planning a 13-day family road trip in Morocco this July, with six people in a Toyota Prado 4x4 (renting in Marrakech). We’ll alternate between bivouacking and small hotels/riads depending on the stops.

Here’s the planned route (in this order):

Marrakech → Ouarzazate → Draa Valley → Zagora → Erg Chegaga → Lake Iriki → Foum Zguid → Tata → Tafraoute → Aït Mansour → Tiznit → Mirleft → Taroudant → Back to Marrakech

Our goal:

Atlas Mountains + desert + dunes + plateaus + valleys + a bit of coastline. We’ll cover about 1,700 km in total.

We’re planning:

Bivouacking in the Chegaga/Iriki area Flexible for the rest (booking the day before or same day) Sand gear: traction plates, compressor, tow strap, roof rack

Questions:

Is the Zagora → Chegaga → Iriki → Foum Zguid crossing in July doable on our own (single vehicle, no guide)? Are there any truly technical or risky sections between Chegaga and Iriki? Does the overall itinerary seem manageable in 13 days without rushing? Any suggestions for great bivouac spots or particularly interesting stops along this route? The points on the route are provisional overnight stops. Some spots will include two nights in the same area.

We’re used to off-road driving, but not yet in the Moroccan desert. Thanks in advance for your feedback and tips! 😊

Questions about timing and activities between Sesriem and Brandberg

Good evening I could use some advice 🙂 Our trip to Namibia is planned for June/July 2026. We’re struggling a bit with timing and choosing activities for the part of the trip between Sesriem and Brandberg.

Day 1: Sesriem to Mirabib Day 2: Mirabib to Swakopmund – visit Swakopmund, overnight in Swakopmund Day 3: Sandwich Harbour – overnight in Swakopmund Day 4: Kayaking with the seals + the living dunes – overnight in Swakopmund Day 5: Moon Landscape, Henties Bay + Cape Cross – overnight at White Lady Lodge in Brandberg

Does this itinerary seem realistic to you? Is Cape Cross really worth the trip? If I had to choose between Cape Cross and kayaking with the seals, which would you recommend? Thanks in advance for your help! Hélix

My son and I are heading to Georgia this summer to explore the High Caucasus (Svaneti, Kazbek, and Tusheti regions). For this, we’re planning to rent a 4x4. However, the rental agencies we’ve found prohibit driving on the tracks to Omalo (Tusheti) and/or Ushguli (Svaneti). Do you know of any agencies in Tbilisi (local and reliable) that allow rented 4x4s to drive on these tracks? If so, which ones?

Preparing a Zimbabwe-Zambia Road Trip

Hi everyone, I’m starting to plan an itinerary for September 2027 focused on Zimbabwe and Zambia. I’d love to visit Gonarezhou National Park—I see there are two sectors: the Mwenezi Region in the south and the area around the Runde River in the north. Should I cover both sectors or just focus on the northern region? For the parks along the Zambezi River, is it better to visit Mana Pools on the Zimbabwe side or Lower Zambezi on the Zambia side? I’m planning to explore Argentine and Chilean Patagonia for a month in December 2019.

I’m looking for a rental company (or several) that offers single-cab 4x4 pick-ups with a fitted camper cell for two people. I’m specifically after a vehicle with an indoor shower for extra comfort ;) So, no vans—at least not from the rental companies I’ve seen so far.

While browsing the forum, I came across the Chilean rental company Holiday Rent. But do you have any recommendations for Argentine rentals? Because, if I can’t return the vehicle in the same city as pickup, I’d prefer—and it’d likely be cheaper—to at least return it in the same country.

I’m traveling through Argentina and Chile (as well as Paraguay and Uruguay) with a 2019 Toyota Hilux Euro 6. Could anyone tell me if the local diesel is suitable for its engine, or if I need to take any special precautions (like adding an additive, for example) for these countries? What's the best route in Kruger Park?

Hi there, My trip to South Africa is starting to take shape. However, I'm struggling to figure out the route through Kruger Park. I can't seem to find the information I need about getting around. Coming from the south, I plan to arrive on Day 1 in the early afternoon at Malelane or Crocodile Bridge. Do some shopping in Malelane (or Crocodile Bridge main area) and stay overnight outside the park. Leave on Day 2 at 5 AM for the park. Explore the southern part of the park. Stay overnight around Skukuza or Lower Sabie. (We don’t want to stay in one of the park’s big camps. We’re looking for a lodge around 200 €. Head out on Day 3 for a self-drive safari, maybe as far as Orpen. We’d like to stay in a private reserve on nights 4 and 5. We’re not sure which one or how to get into a private reserve. Do we need to exit Kruger Park? On Day 5, we’d like to leave to visit Blyde Canyon (on Day 6).

Could you help us with these different locations?

I’m planning to leave Morocco for the summer but want to leave my 4x4 there to avoid exceeding the famous 6-month limit. I’d like to park it in one of the two Spanish enclaves (Ceuta or Melilla). Does anyone know of people or companies that handle long-term parking (preferably secure) in either place? Once the car is parked, what’s the best way to get back to France using public transport? Is the nearest airport Tanger from Ceuta?... How do I get there easily, etc. etc.

Stays from Divundu (Namibia) to Maun via Khwai/Moremi

Hi everyone,

I’m finalizing my trip starting from Namibia. When I arrive in Divundu, I’d like to head straight to the Khwai area early in the morning to one of the campsites in the Khwai Development Trust. Is the drive doable with a good 4x4 in a day? We’ll spend 2 nights in Khwai, then 2 or maybe 3 nights in the Moremi area (Third Bridge/Xakanaxa/Mboma) before heading back to Maun to wrap up our journey. Is that too much time to spend in each place?

We’d also like to do one or two boat excursions in the delta. Any suggestions for the best options and operators?

Road conditions to the Tsingy in May

Hi everyone, I’m planning to explore the western part of Madagascar from May 1st to 5th, specifically to visit the Tsingy. I’ve heard different versions about the road conditions and access to the Tsingy during this time, so I’d love to hear from people who’ve actually made this trip during this time of year.

Have you traveled from Morondava → Tsingy between May 1st and 5th? Was the journey doable and safe? Did you have access to the Grands Tsingy, or just the Petits Tsingy?
