Hey everyone! Heading to Namibia in a few days and I just read that the entry fees for all parks in Namibia have skyrocketed. Increases between 86 and 100%, and this has been in effect since April 1st (no joke). Have any of you heard about this, and if so, do you know if it’s actually being enforced? For example, the fee for Etosha has gone from 150 NAD to 280 NAD per day per person. Thanks in advance!

Since the article isn’t from April 1st, this doesn’t seem like a joke.

Yeah, unfortunately it's true. Huge increase in entry fees across all the parks. More info here: https://namibian.org/blog/namibia-raises-park-fees-by-80-to-100-percent

It’s definitely a huge percentage increase, but the prices (in €) are still reasonable compared to other countries like Kenya or Tanzania.

Hi everyone!

For example, the cost goes from 150 NAD to 280 NAD per day per person for Etosha.

Which, unless I'm mistaken, works out to 14.34 € at today's exchange rate! Cheaper than Beauval, right? 😉 Have a great trip!!

Totally agree! Namibian rates were well below those of neighboring countries (South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania) and hadn't changed in ages. In Tanzania, it's around $70 or $75/day pp for parks like Selous or the Serengeti. And we're still far from Thoiry's rates (34 € pp for ages 11 and up!!!). If it helps better maintain the facilities (camps, etc.) and pay staff more fairly, well then...
