Cet été nous avons le bonheur de passer 3 merveilleuses semaines au Québec avec ma fille de 9 ans.
Tout a commencé lorsqu'un jour je suis "tombée" par hasard sur ce fantastique site !!!
Les idées, les conseils, les bons plans de chacun m'ont beaucoup aidée d'une part à préparer ce voyage et ensuite à le vivre !!!!!!

Maintenant que j'ai enfin un peu de temps, à moi d'aider tous ceux qui, comme moi, voudrait voyager à travers le Québec et leur transmettre quelques bons plans glanés au grés de nos petites escapades à travers ce beau pays !!!!
J'ai eu l'immense plaisir le jour de mon arrivée à Montréal de participer à une rencontre dans les Laurentides organisée par PetitSoleil et nous avons été super bien acceuillies dans la gang !!!!! 😎 Ah !! que de bons souvenirs avec Phylsky, Annieclown, Laurence, ExplorateurC, Tilde, Sebast23 et notre organisatrice !!!
Voilà un super bon début de voyage !!!!!😛
Ensuite, au grès du vent, des rencontres, des envies, du temps, du lieu, nous avons, avec ma fille fait quelques 3900 kms en 3 semaines !! que de merveilleux souvenirs !!!
Je n'avais rien réservé, rien planifié, rien programmé, juste une vague idée du parcours et vogue l'aventure !!!!
Nous avons été de découvertes en découvertes ; plus belles les unes que les autres, bien sûr il y a des
endroits qui nous ont plus touché que d'autres, je pense à un endroit de rêve : Papinachois ou l'on peut dormir dans des tentes de trappeur sur un sol recouvert de branches de sapin odorant .... un sommeil bercé par le bruit de la rivière toute proche et sur un matelas de branchages !!!!
Et Baie Comeau, Godbout, et la vallée de la Matapédia et Newport, et Percé, et les parcs !!!!!! et le lac St Jean et .... et .... et ..... rien que d'évoquer tout ça me donne l'envie de repartir !!!!!!!!!
Nous avons "survécu" aux moustiques (très gourmands !!!!!) ; aux mouches noires (elles aussi très affamées!!!) mais nous avons eu tellement de compensations en retour que les moustiques, la fièvre, le
visage tout gonflé (pendant 2 jours je ressemblais à Quasimodo ....) ont très vite été oubliés !!!!
Ces petites bêtes doivent certainement être très friandes des touristes !!!!😉
Tout ça pour vous dire que partir toute seule avec une petite fille de 9 ans sans avoir rien réservé et avec un petit budget ; c'est facilement réalisable !!! bien sûr il faut être capables de dormir dans les gîtes, les tentes de trappeur, les campings, pas les hôtels grand luxe (encore que je n'ai rien contre !!!!) et au niveau des repas on a fait très très simple.... l'essentiel pour nous était la découverte de la faune et la flore !!!!

Contente de savoir que la suite de votre séjour s'est aussi bien déroulé !! Il faut dire que nous n'avions pas trop de doute en voyant "l'esprit" qui vous animait... tout ce qu'il faut pour faire un beau voyage 😉.

j'ai beaucoup apprécié les gens, les paysages, les petits déj Québecois (ah !!! les bonnes crêpes !!!!)
Ma fille a été enchantée et a participé pleinement au voyage : elle choisissait ce qu'elle voulait voir dès qu'on s'arrêtait dans un office de tourisme elle faisait le plein de docs et elle étudiait tout ça pendant nos trajets.
En plus on a eu beau temps, n'est-ce pas ???
Au lac St Jean, on s'est baignées plusieurs fois car l'eau était vraiment chaude (du côté de St Henri de Taillon) !!!

Je suis super heureux🙂 d'apprendre que votre voyage a été un grand succes et d'apprendre que vous avez bien aprécié la québec. Hourra! En plus vous avez survécu au moustique 😉. C'est vrai que la finn de semaine de camping nous a fait vivre de tres beaux moments.
Moi aussi je suis aller Au Bergeronne voir les baleines cette été et j'ai été bien impressionné. Cette été a aussi été pour moi l'occasion de découvrir votre coin de pays. Je suis atteris a Lyon óu j'ai pris le train pour Le Puy En Velay, de la j'ai marché quelques 1600km en 3 mois pour aboutir a Santiago a l'autre bout de l'Espagne.
Je dois dire que j'ai trouver que la France est un pays magnifique avec sa nature, ses petits villages sympas, ses paysages et les francais qui m'on réservés un superbe acceuil.
Pour moi l'avanture n'est pas terminé, dans les prochain jour j'irai visiter Salamanca pour ensuite rentré sur Paris pour prendre l'avion et retrouver mon ptit coin de pays.
Heureux d'avoir eux de vos nouvelles, je vous souhaite encore beaucoup de beaux voyages et de belles aventures.

Bonjour Chrisou, pour Répondre a ta question je suis arrivé a Lyon le 9 aout mais je n'ai pas eu le temps de visiter, j'ai tout de suite pris le bus pour Le puy en Velay.
J'ai eu la chance de voir Conques, de traverser les pyrenées et j'ai faite de superbe rencontre tout au cour de mon périple.
Demain mercredi je serai a Salamanca pour 2 a 4 jours et apres j'irai passer 3 ou 4 jour a Paris pour ensuite prendre l'avion pour rentrer a la maison autour du 16 nov.
J'aurais bien aimé continuer mon voyage encore un peu mais les fond me manque je dois rentrer travailler🤪.

Il est clair que le budget je ne l'ai pas mis dans des hôtels luxueux, c'était surtout pour les parcs, les expéditions (baleines, île de Bonnaventure, voir les animaux, ..)
Ma fille voulait voir le zoo St Félicien, il est magnifique !! mais l'entrée est un peu chère... mais ça vaut le coup !!
Du 8 au 22 Juillet : bonne période !! facile de trouver des hébergements.
Ca sera quoi ton parcours afin que je puissse t'aider au mieux.
Pour la loc de voiture, je suis passée par Autoescape, j'ai négocié un peu ...
mais si tu leur dit que tu les contacte via le Guide du routard, tu aura déjà 5% de remise !!

La Gaspésie c'est très beau et si tu souhaites en faire le tour, le mieux (enfin ... à mon avis) est de commencer ton tour par Matapédia, et de remonter.

Un vol sur Montréal (au départ de Lyon) allait (en JUILLET 2005) de 900 euros à plus de
2800 euros (classe affaires et tout le bla bla) par personne.
J'ai acheté un vol quelques jours avant de partir pour 1000 euros pr 2 personnes A/R
avec AIR TRANSAT.
Mais attention, même lorsque j'ai trouvé le vol sur internet, j'ai téléphoné à AIR TRANSAT (via une agence de voyage) qui vendait le MEME VOL ; même jour; même heure; à 1900 euros pour 2 !!!!!!!! j'ai donc choisi de l'acheter sur internet en économisant 900 euros en 5 minutes !!!

voyage était axé en ce sens.
Si tu vas à Montréal il faut absolument visiter le BIODOME ; c'est super bien fait.
Les baleines est un moment magique et grandiose à vivre pour les petits comme pour les grands, j'ai quand même eu un petit pincement au coeur de voir tous ces bâteaux qui s'approchaient d'elles, même si il y a une distance légale à respecter, ça m'a quand même dérangé quelque part.....

Ma fille a 8 ans et demi. Bien sur à cet age, elle adore les animaux. Et même si personnellement je n'apprécie guère de "visiter" les animaux hors de leur milieu naturel : qu'avons-nous comme solution pour les faire découvrir à nos enfants. Comme je te comprends, rien qu'à imaginer une baleine dérangée par des touristes en bateaux à moteur, j'ai déjà les boules....Mais j'imagine aussi l'enchantement d'un enfant voyant un cétacé de prêt.
Merci pour les prix d'avions c'est exactement ce que j'avais cru remarqué...mais j'espère trouver comme toi aux alentours de 900 €.

J’ai regardé le budget pour le Québec, je te donne en gros les montants (on parle en euros)
- Vols A/R 1 adulte – 1 enfant : 1000 €
- Voiture : 500 €
- Hébergement (pr 2 personnes) : de 23/25 € (Auberges de Jeunesse, Camping, Cité Universitaire, à ce prix là on a mis dormi au dessus d’un dépanneur, un endroit très propre et sympa) ; en passant pas 30/36 euros (gîtes qui comprenaient un petit déj excellent et copieux ) et jusqu’à 45 euros une ou 2 fois pr des gîtes « grand luxe » avec chambre immense et déco magnifique !!
- Repas : j’allais faire le plein à la superette ou au dépanneur de pain, jambon, fruits…. Bon, c’est pas ça qui m’a plombé le budget …. Nous sommes allées parfois au resto histoire de changer un peu, ns avons goûté la poutine et les bonnes glaces…
- Essence : aie !!! aie !!! aie !!! le litre était à 1 $ can et ma petite voiture de loc (PT CRUISER) était très, très, …. Voir très gourmande !!!! mais tout dépend du nombre de kilomètres que tu envisages de faire… ns avons fait quelques 3900kms, il faut bien remplir de temps en temps !! mais bon, je lui pardonne ….. cette jolie voiture était équipée d’un lecteur CD et nous avons pu écouter les CowBoys Fringants pendant tout notre parcours 😉😉😉.
- Traversier GOBOUT / MATANE : voiture + 2 personnes : 36 €
- Pour les activités, ça dépend aussi de ce que tu veux faire avec ta puce mais pr te donner une idée : l’incontournable Zoo St Félicien : 30 € pr 2 (tu peux y passer la journée), croisière 4 heures baleines à Tadoussac env. 40 € (bien demander le tarif famille : un enfant gratuit), parc d’aventure Cap Jaseux (arbre en arbre) : env 37 € pr 2, Ile de Bonnaventure pr aller voir les oiseaux marins (bateau et droits d’entrée) : 19 €, Parc Forillon (droits d’entrée) : env 8 €
Evidement, les prix en € que je donne, dépendent aussi du cours des devises.
J’ai essayé d’équilibrer les étapes, de rester 2 ou 3 jrs si l’endroit ns plaisait pr silloner et ne rien rater. Rester 2 nuits au même endroit permet de faire un break, c’est pas mal pr les petits bouts.
Je voulais te filer une info si tu voyages seul avec ta fille : les formalités d’entrée et de séjour au Canada, exigent pour un enfant mineur, si celui-ci voyage avec un seul parent, certains docs administratifs, dont une autorisation de voyage signée par les 2 parents, une lettre d’autorisation du parent qui n’accompagne pas l’enfant, la photocop du passeport du parent qui n’accompagne pas, une copie du livret de famille, un certif de naissance.
C’est beaucoup, mais mieux vaut avoir plus que pas assez …..

I’m looking for your help planning a 3-week road trip from mid-September to early October starting in Montréal.
We’d like to explore part of Québec and the Gaspésie, and we’re intentionally starting with the Gaspésie because if we leave it for the end (early October), the weather might be less favorable and a lot of places will already be closed. I’ve also read that the fall colors are more beautiful in the Mauricie and Laurentides regions toward the end of our trip (early October).
Here’s the itinerary we’ve come up with:
Montréal (arrival and departure airport) -> Québec City -> Charlevoix -> Crossing the St. Lawrence River from St-Siméon to Rivière-du-Loup -> Rimouski and Parc du Bic -> Gaspésie along the coast (Matapedia, Percé, Bonaventure Island, Gaspé, Forillon Park) -> Crossing the St. Lawrence River from Matane to Baie-Comeau -> Tadoussac to Lac Saint-Jean via the route along the Saguenay River -> Return to Montréal via La Tuque, crossing the Laurentides and Mauricie Park
This is our first time in Canada, so don’t hesitate to be critical (I won’t take it badly ;)), if the route seems too ambitious (we know there’ll be a lot of driving!) or if it’s better to skip some stops that aren’t must-sees.

Since I’m over 75, it’s impossible to rent a camper van. So, the option left is a car plus hotels. I’m used to traveling freely—I sketch out a rough route and stop wherever and whenever I feel like it.
Is it possible during this period to travel without booking hotels/motels or B&Bs in advance, knowing I’ll only need a double room?

The landlord tells me that parking around the apartment is free. Does that cause any issues? We’re planning a trip to Quebec from June 15 to 28, 2025, specifically along the St. Lawrence River. As I’ve been looking into it, I’ve got two main questions:
First, about our route—I feel like I might be biting off more than we can chew by wanting to follow the left bank downstream from Quebec City (including the Saguenay Fjord and Lac Saint-Jean), then heading to Gaspésie by ferry, and finally returning along the right bank. We’re flying into Montreal and will likely stop in Quebec City too. Over about ten days, is that too much? Would it be better to stick to the left bank, enjoy the coast and the lake, and maybe explore Mauricie or Mont-Tremblant on the way back instead?
Second, about prices. Since we’re thinking of renting a car and booking accommodations at each stop, I was a bit surprised by hotel and motel rates. I’ve always heard Canada is a pretty expensive destination, but I’m seeing average prices very similar to France—between 60 € and 90 €. Am I missing something? Is service not included? Meanwhile, on platforms like Airbnb, the prices seem exorbitant.
This second question is a bit generic, but as I’m trying to budget, I don’t feel like there’s a huge difference compared to France, even for meals. Am I way off base?

We’ve already traveled to Canada in 2018.
This time, we’re prioritizing heading to Quebec City right after arriving in Montreal to stay for 3 days, then moving on to Rivière-du-Loup for 2 to 3 days before heading toward New Brunswick.
We want to see Acadia, Prince Edward Island, the Bay of Fundy, etc., before returning to Quebec City to drop off the rental car.
We were thinking of taking the bus from Montreal Airport to Quebec City and only renting the car 3 days later. Same route on the way back, with one night in Quebec City.
We arrive in Montreal around June 25 (11 AM) and return on July 26 (6 PM).
Could you give us some advice? Routes, sights, accommodations, and chalet rentals.
On our first trip, we went through an agency, but this time we’d prefer to organize everything ourselves.

If I get the time off and manage to gather the details, I’ll arrive on Wednesday the 23rd and leave on Tuesday the 29th. Traveling solo with just my backpack, I need answers to:
1°) Do you know of any youth hostels (or similar) within walking distance (less than 3 km) of the finish circuit on Mount Royal?
2°) What’s the best way to get to this accommodation from the airport—metro, bus, etc.?

My partner would love to discover Quebec, while I’ve already been there over 15 years ago (Quebec City, Tadoussac, the Fjords, Lac Saint-Jean).
This time, of course, we’d want to do something different.
Quebec City would still be a must for my partner in this plan.
With the tight budget we have right now🤪, we’re thinking of spending several days in Quebec City, then maybe renting bikes to explore the surrounding areas—aside from Montmorency Falls, what other nice spots are worth visiting? I remember there being tons of bike paths.
After that, we’d rent a car (for a few days to visit the parks) and use trains or buses for the rest of the trip. From what I recall, cars aren’t super fuel-efficient there.
Since we’ve never seen Niagara Falls, I’d like to include it in this itinerary.
For a roughly 15-day trip in September, I was thinking of a multi-destination flight: France-Quebec / Toronto-France, so it’d look something like this:

We’re planning our first trip to Quebec for early July 2026. There’ll be 2 adults and 2 teens (17 and 14 years old). For now, we’re thinking of renting an RV in Montreal for this loop.
Here’s a first draft of our route, based on itineraries I’ve seen on the forum.
The times below are the useful time spent at each stop, not including driving.
Does the order make sense? It has us crossing the river twice.
Are the lengths of the stops reasonable? We like to take our time and not spend too much time on the road.
Finally, any other suggestions for places to add or swap out?
Arrival and half a day in Montreal

Mauricie National Park: 2.5 days
Quebec City: 2 days
Jacques Cartier National Park: 2.5 days
Saguenay Fjord–Tadoussac: 2.5 days, then crossing
Bic Park: 2.5 days, then crossing back
Charlevoix: 3.5 days
Montreal: 2 days, then return to France

I’m planning a trip to Quebec at the end of June/beginning of July 2026 for 20 days.
We’re a family of 4, with two kids aged 7 and 4 at that time.
I’ve already started drafting our itinerary but I’m open to all suggestions and ideas.
We plan to land in Montreal and stay a few days to recover from the trip.
Here’s my first draft of the itinerary:
-Day 1 to 4: Exploring Montreal:
-Day 5: Sucrerie de la Montagne in Rigaud.
-Day 6/7: Parc Omega (staying in Pods)
-Day 8-10: Saint-Alexis-des-Monts (staying at Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc)
-Day 9/10: Heading toward Lac Saint-Jean: I’m still looking for accommodation halfway to La Tuque. I’ve noticed Pourvoirie du Triton or Domaine Le Bostonnais.
-Day 10/11: Zoo Sauvage de Saint-Félicien: I’m also looking for accommodation near the lake for this stop + visiting Village historique de Val-Jalbert?
-Day 12-13-14: Stop in Sacré-Cœur at Ferme 5 Étoiles. (I also saw the Canopée Lit accommodations in the area—something to consider).
-Day 15-16: Tadoussac: Whale-watching excursion. Should we do it by Zodiac given my kids’ ages?
I’m also looking for accommodation in the area (Hotel Tadoussac is out of budget).
On the way back from Tadoussac to Quebec City, I’m considering an intermediate stop if there’s a spot worth the detour (Malbaie??).
-Day 17-18-19: Exploring Quebec City (Montmorency Falls / Old Town / Wendake).
-Day 20-21: Return to Montreal and flight home.
I’d love recommendations for activities for young kids along this route.

I’m planning to spend at least 3 weeks on the Côte Nord all the way to Natashquan to see the whales. I’m torn between renting a van or finding accommodations.
For the van, it’s hard to find one in Quebec City—most rentals start in Montreal... plus the prices are pretty high.
For accommodations, there aren’t many towns, so there aren’t a lot of options on Booking, for example. Do you have any leads, websites, or addresses to help me find some?

I’ve got a bit of a weird request , but you never know...
I’m currently traveling—we left Tadoussac this morning and are in Rimouski for 2 nights. We’re then heading down the Bas-Saint-Laurent and will be in Montreal on Tuesday. We fly back to Belgium on Friday.
I left 7 sweaters/T-shirts in Tadoussac 😕. Would anyone happen to be going there this weekend and then heading back to Montreal? To pick them up and meet me somewhere?
We’re heading to Quebec in just over a week to meet up with our son, a young adult on a Working Holiday Visa who’s been there for nearly a year 🙂🙂🙂 and I still have a few questions:
1) We’re starting with 3 nights near Shawinigan (Lac à la Tortue). The day after we arrive, we’ll have a relaxed day with one or two activities (sugar shack in St-Mathieu-du-Parc? A seaplane ride?). Any other suggestions? (Besides Parc de la Mauricie, which we’ll visit the next day.)
2) Then, we’ll head to Quebec City via the Chemin du Roy, where we’ll spend 3 nights, followed by a scenic drive to La Malbaie. We’ll be staying in St-Aimé-des-Lacs near Hautes-Gorges de la Malbaie National Park for another 3 nights. One day will be dedicated to hiking in the park—likely the Acropole des Draveurs for our son, and the Riverain trail plus two shorter walks for my husband and me, since he can’t use hiking poles. So, I’m unsure about the second day: should we go back to the park for the cruise, or do something else nearby? Any suggestions?
3) After St-Aimé-des-Lacs, we’ll spend 3 nights in Tadoussac. We’ll definitely stop at Port-au-Persil, but since the drive isn’t too long, we’ll arrive pretty quickly (I think you say "rendu" here 😉). I was thinking of exploring Tadoussac that day, doing the Pointe de l’Islet trail, the Estuary trail, and the Dunes lookout.
The second day, we’d head toward Les Bergeronnes and Les Escoumins to visit the interpretation center and take a Zodiac cruise. I was considering Neptune because they offer covered boats. Any other options?
And on the third day, we’d go to Sainte-Rose-du-Nord via the Saguenay Fjord National Park’s Baie Sainte-Marguerite sector to hike part of the "Le Fjord" trail from the Beluga Observation Center. I’m aware this trail requires a park access fee. However, I just realized that the trails we planned for the first day (Estuary and Pointe de l’Islet) are also part of the Tadoussac sector of the park. Do we need to pay the access fee (10.10 CAD) for these two short trails? If so, it might make sense to do them on the third day. In that case, can we pay the fee in Tadoussac, then head to the Baie Sainte-Marguerite sector and use the same ticket?

My partner and I are planning a trip with our two kids to see whales this summer in Canada. We’ve got two options: Tadoussac or the Bay of Fundy in Saint Andrews. We’ll be there at the end of July.
Could you let me know if one spot is better than the other? Especially in terms of how likely we are to actually see the whales.
