Hi there, I’m flying to Phnom Penh on December 22, 2019. It’s a one-way ticket with no return. Will I run into any issues at customs or check-in? I have no intention of settling in the country—I just haven’t decided where to go next yet. Is it a good idea to show proof of a bus or train ticket to a neighboring country, like Vietnam? Has anyone else been in this situation? Thanks

Hello,

I don’t think you’ll have a problem at customs, maybe at immigration, and definitely at check-in.

A one-way ticket without a visa but with proof of onward travel might work for boarding.

Hi there,

A one-way ticket with no return always carries some risk.

As Ayothaie mentioned, at check-in it’s best to play it safe with a continuation ticket within the 30-day visa window for Cambodia.

Personally, I’ve been checked twice on departure—without a continuation ticket, I wouldn’t have been allowed to board. That said, immigration never asked me for my return ticket.

Thanks for your replies. I’m getting a round-trip ticket so I feel reassured.

The issue might be the same at boarding if your return ticket date exceeds your visa's validity period. The best solution is a low-cost exit ticket (possibly non-refundable) within your visa's time limit.

Hi, I’ll jump in on this! ....Continuation ticket.... Is it mandatory that it’s a flight ticket, or can it be a bus or train ticket? If it’s a train or bus, which site would you recommend for buying it? Thanks

Hi there,

Yes, as long as you leave before your visa expires, it’s $10 per day for overstaying.

Don’t forget to fill out the e-arrival form on the following app since September 1st: Cambodia e-Arrival

To book a bus: 12 Go: book trains, buses, ferries, transfers, and flights
