Les "anciens" du forum me reconnaîtront, je hantais les lieux il n'y a pas si longtemps... Je cherchais alors des infos sur mon projet de séjour linguistique aux USA...
Ce projet est plus que jamais en voie de se concrétiser car, youpi, j'ai réuni les sous pour partir 5 semaines (contre 4 initialement prévues ^^ ) à San Francisco.
Maintenant, se pose THE question, concernant la réservation du dit-séjour. J'ai demandé des tas de devis à droite et à gauche, et mon premier choix serait de partir avec l'organisme EF. Ils m'ont l'air d'avoir une excellente réputation, et ils viennent d'ouvrir une deuxième école toute neuf en plein centre-ville à San Francisco.
Malgré tout, j'aimerais avoir des avis, des conseils, des infos, des témoignages... Bref, avant de me jeter à l'eau, j'aimerais bien en connaître la température ! 😊 Donc si vous êtes déjà partis avec eux, ou si vous envisagez de le faire, j'aimerais beaucoup connaître votre opinion, sachant quand même que j'ai un second choix en réserve (Aspect).
Je ne souhaite pas d'hébergement en résidence mais en famille d'accueil, pour mieux m'imprégner de la langue et de la vie quotidienne aux USA. ^^

J'ai économisé environ 3000 € pour 5 semaines de séjour linguistique (en incluant le billet d'avion AR qui coûte environ 600 €). Personnellement, je recommande de demander des devis, en spécifiant bien le type de prestation recherché (hébergement en résidence ou en famille, nombre d'heures de cours, niveau, hébergement en chambre simple ou en chambre double, transferts famille/aéroport...) : c'est une bonne façon de comparer les tarifs et de faire son choix !
Le plus long, c'est justement de trouver les organismes !! Il en existe beaucoup, qui proposent des tas de formules différentes, dans une multitude de villes différentes ! Le mieux étant évidemment de savoir 1/ où on veut aller ; 2/ ce qu'on veut y faire et 3/ combien de temps on veut rester. 🙂
Pour trouver les organismes, rien ne vaut une recherche sur le Net (Google, AOL...). Il suffit de taper "séjours linguistiques" pour voir s'afficher des pages et des pages de résultats ! Il ne faut pas non plus hésiter à demander les catalogues "papier" quand ils sont disponibles, histoire de se constituer tout un dossier. Mine de rien, ça facilite grandement le choix ! ^^
Je peux peut-être vous donner l'adresse d'un site qui parle de l'EF. J'y ai posté moi-même pour la nouvelle école de LA. Pour le moment, je crois que c'est pas top (pour LA). J'ai même été dans l'obligation de rencontrer le responsable concernant les différents pb.
Par contre je ne connais pas SF, mais vous trouverez peut-être des éléments de réponse. Je suis d'accord avec vous, comme c'est très cher, on en veut très justement pour son fric.
Perso, j'ai choisi cette formule plus onéreuse qu'avec n'importe quel autre organisme, mais comptant sur leur sérieux pour acheter ma tranquilité, et pour le moment c'est pas gagné !!!!

Hello! Ayant fait un séjour linguistique à Malte avec EC school, j'ai rencontré des étudiants EF et franchement je vous conseil pas de partir avec cet organisme. Les étudiants EF étaient vraiment dégoutés car d'1 les cours se font sans profs, uniquement sur pc, le logement et la bouffe n'en parlont même pas...j'ai vu de mes propres yeux! du coup ils avaient qu'une envie rentrer en France..moi aussi j'ai hésiter à partir avec eux et puis après avoir fait une recherche sur le forum j'ai lu bcp de critiques donc j'ai changer d'avis aussitôt et j'ai bien fait car vu que le coût du séjour ça m'aurait fait mal au coeur! Aussi ne vous dites pas que + c'est cher mieux ça sera! moi j'ai payé 1600euros pr 2 mois (alors qu'avec EF c'était le double presque!) avec cours et logement + salle de fitness, cyber café et club beach dans une super école avec de très bon profs, dommage qu'il ne font pas les Etats-Unis! Une chose aussi qui m'a surpris en arrivant à Malte c'est le nombre de publicité pr EF, halluciant! mais maintenant je comprends pourquoi..! Enfin je vous conseil vraiment de choisir un autre organisme...

moi je pars avec EF à santa barbara en janvier, le 27 pour 6 semaines, il est vrai que les séjours ne sont pas donnés, mais tous les organismes sont sensiblement identiques, pour les usa en tout cas. les activités paraissent intéressantes et leurs méthodes assez bien. j'ai entendu pas mal de mécontents pour malte sutout, peut-être que c'est une destination à éviter...
si des personnes partent a santa barbara ou en californie entre janvier et mars 2007, qu'ils n'hésitent pas à m'écrire!
J'ai participé au programme EF en 1999, à Londres.
Je n'ai que des éloges à faire sur cet organisme. Les prix sont élevés, mais comprend l'hébergement et les cours, il ne faut pas oublier.
J'ai un ami qui a fait EF durant 1 an à Miami Beach, en 1998. Que du positif. J'ai aussi connue une Turque qui est allée en Californie avec EF durant quelques mois.
Cela dépend peut-être de la gestion de certaines écoles, mais c'est un organisme très réputé.

Je suis parti 1 mois dans la region de San Francisco avec et on etait tous très content ! On etait un (petit) groupe de 100 etrangers (taiwannais, suisses, espagnols, russes et francais) repartis dans 3 villes differents a environ 20min de l'ecole (une université libre). Nous etions situé a 45min de san francisco dans des familles d'acceuil plutot excellente ! Nous etions 2 de differentes nationalités par famille. Il y avait des activité tout les jours en plus des cours le matin... des excursion facultatives sont possible comme une excursion de 3 jours a Los Angeles... =)
C'etait vraiment excellent! Après c'est sur, sur le forum pas officiel de EF qui est ci dessu tout le monde n'est pas content tout le temps enfin je peux pas juger, mais en tout cas le mien c'est très bien passé!
Je suis partie avec EF à Santa Barbara en 2001...2 jours avant le 11 septembre !!! Concernant l'école et les cours, je n'ai rien a dire, j'avais choisi le programme intensif pour passer le First et je l'ai eu grade B.
J'étais en famille d'accueil et c'est vrai que je n'ai pas eu beaucoup de chance. Ca faisait 8 ans que ma famille accueillait des étudiants et je pense franchement qu'ils en avaient marre. Ils n'étaient pas du tout intéressés par les étudiants et ne nous proposait jamais rien. Je n'ai aucun souvenirs de moments passés avec eux. Les familles sont tres bien payées et il y a un risque ( qu'après 8 ans ), ils le fasse pour l'argent.
Je suis contre l'idée de dire EF c'est de la merde ou EF c'est les meilleurs parce que ca dépend à 90 % des conditions qu'on va rencontrer sur place. Je partageais ma chambre avec une fille et malheureusement on ne s'est pas bien entendu, du coup on ne partageait pas grand chose ensemble et il est vrai que ca a souvent influencé mes humeurs et mes coup de blues. Il est clair que si tu tombes sur quelqu'un qui te convient a la perfection tu va passer un séjours innoubliable et ca ne sera pas grace a EF mais simplement a deux personnes que se rencontre et qui s'entendent bien !!!
Le problème a Santa Barbara c'est les transports, moi je vivais dans un endroit de la ville ou il n'y avait plus de bus à partir de 19h00... pas facile d'aller rejoindre des amis pour un petit resto ou pour aller danser.
Si c'était à refaire je choisirais plustot une grande ville mais je te souhaite un bon voyage et je suis sure que tu vas vite apprendre l'anglais.

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
