Avec mon petit copain on prévoit de faire le tour du monde. On projette d'arriver en Inde pour début juin. On resterait dans le nord jusqu'à mi-juillet. On doit être à Varanasi pour le 22 juillet (jour de l'éclipse solaire).
Mais je me pose beaucoup de question vis à vis de la mousson. Ca me fait un peu peur. Je n'ai jamais connu ça, et je n'arrive pas du tout à me l'imaginer.
Peut-on rester un Inde jusqu'à fin octobre en évitant la mousson, car j'ai vu qu'elle se déplace... peut-être c'est possible de passer juste derrière?
Aussi sur les sites ou dans les livres ils disent que c'est plus dangereux pour la transmission de maladie... Je pense que c'est vrai, mais est-ce vraiment tellement risqué?
Cela vaut-il le coup d'y aller pendant la mousson? peut-on quand même sortir ou est-ce que tout est inondé?
Sinon on a un plan B, qui serait de se rendre d'abord en Chine de juin à octobre, dans le Nord Est, peut etre que la mousson est beaucoup moins présente la bas? (mais comme le nivau de vie est plus cher, ça reste un plan B, voir un plan C 🤪 )
Si certains voyageurs peuvent me conseiller de part leur expérience, se serait super sympa.... hihi j'espère qu'il y aura quelqu'un qui pourra m'éclairer...

Inutile de paniquer, la mousson ne sont que de fortes pluies.
Je suis allé 3 fois en inde durant la mousson, certaines plus fortes que d'autres et je ne me suis jamais senti mal à l'aise. L'été dernier j'étais à Varanasi et à part quelques grosses douches, ( 1/2 heure, 1 heure) une mousson très forte l'été dernier, rien de dramatique.
Evidemment il y fait chaud et les lumières sont différentes.
Malgré tout cela vaut la peine d'y être durant cette période o les habitants sont hyper heureux.
On peut sortir tous les jours, il y fait même beau parfois, d'autre fois c'est gris.
Quand aux risques, je ne prends aucun anti malaria et je n'ai jamais rien attrapé, plus risqué dans les campagnes. pas en ville.
Selon moi cela vaut donc la peine d'y aller sans trop se préoccuper

Le risque est très élevé dans les villes...contrairement a ce qui a été dit. Mais il ne faut pas paniquer, juste bien se protéger, quand on arrive on a peur de tout, mais tout ça s'apaise très vite!
Moi j'ai voyagé en inde pendant la "mousson" cette année, j'ai eu beaucoup de chance, je suis passée entre les gouttes, sauf début juin a goa, mais c'est tout a fait vivable, 15/20 min de pluie spectaculaire et hop la vie reprend son cour. Il est difficile de donner des conseils a ce sujet, c'est très aléatoire mais je ne pense pas que ce soit un motif pour choisir une autre option!

c'est difficile de te conseiller par rapport a la mousson, car elle est très capricieuse...
Mais tant qu'on est mobile, pas de problème, s'échapper si ca deviens grave.
C'est même plutôt une bonne saison pour venir... moins de touristes et la nature encore plus belle.
Mais bon, évite quand-même la côte sud/ouest, c'est la que c'est le plus violent. Quand Goa est sous le déluge, Pondicherry est au sec.
voila, en gros ca se passe comme ca, de juin à septembre, rester sur la moitié est pour être au sec.
Sinon question maladies, c'est vrai qu'il y a plus de moustiques donc plus de palu, dingue et Chikungunya pendant la mousson.
Donc bien se protéger...et attention aussi aux infections, qui peuvent êtres fulgurantes, penser a prendre des pansements étanches pour couvrir
les petites plaies et coupures au pieds quand on marche dans la gadoue...et mettre des bonnes chaussures.
Risque aussi de dysenterie, quand on est en contact avec les eaux usées,
inévitable, mais pas de panique, faut juste bien se laver mes mains avant de manger et pas se ronger les ongles.
produit miracle: le gel pour se désinfecter les mains.
Pour echapper a la mousson, seul le Ladakh et les regions adjacentes de l'HP (Spiti, Lahaul). Dans les plaines, tres forte chaleur, surtout vers mai juin juste avant la mousson. C'est la tres haute saison pour les stations d'altitude (Shimla, Darjeeling, Manali, ...) ou les Indiens partent en vacances.

Nous voulons faire quelques safaris, aller dans les villages, les montagnes, voir les plantations de thé, ... Mais aussi voir les tortues. Nous adorons le snorkeling mais ne sommes pas de grands connaisseurs, on est juste contents de voir des poissons plein de couleurs et des coraux. On a toujours voulu voir des tortues aussi. Donc l'idée c'est quand même d'y voir quelque chose sous leau 😊

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

This year, 2026, I can only get away in April and May. I never travel during these months usually, and from what I know, they aren’t the best for India. But in such a big country, there are always spots that are better than others weather-wise.

I’ve looked into a few different options: Brazil, Cambodia, and Ecuador. The last one really appeals to me, but what’s making me hesitate is the risk of our trip being a bit too rainy (literally ),
We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

I’ve planned a trip to Asia for the first half of November.
I’ll arrive in Singapore at the start of November for about 3 days, and I’ll leave from Bangkok in mid-November.

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊
