Hi everyone, we’re driving to Austria via Switzerland and we’d love some clarity on the highway stickers and tolls. Do we need one sticker to enter Austria and another for the tolls? I’m a bit lost here. Gigi

Hi there,

There’s a motorway vignette for Switzerland (40 CHF) and one for Austria (price depends on the number of days), sometimes with an extra toll for certain tunnels, etc. You can buy both online.

Thanks—can we buy them before departure, and do we have to pay a toll? Gigi

Yes: https://via.admin.ch/shop/config/evignette https://shop.asfinag.at/

In Switzerland, cantonal roads marked in blue are free, while motorways marked in green require a vignette (the colors are the opposite of France).

In Austria, for example, there’s an extra toll at the Arlberg Tunnel. With a toll barrier. Marked "Maut" in German when there’s a toll. After that, you can find maps online showing toll roads—it depends where you're going...

Thanks! We're passing through Zurich and Munich and it seems there are no tolls?

There's no way to answer that without knowing your full itinerary...
