Hello, and happy New Year to all travelers!

2025 is shaping up to be amazing, as I’m lucky enough to be planning a 6-week trip to Polynesia. I wanted to buy the *Guide du Routard* (my favorite), but I discovered there isn’t one for this destination. And the *Lonely Planet* is from 2022, which I feel is already a bit outdated. So I’m looking for other resources: in your opinion, what’s the best paper guide, and most importantly, what online resources have you used to prepare a trip to Polynesia?

Thanks!

Hi Corina,

New guides will be released in 2025. It all depends on the date of your trip. There are blogs by enthusiasts who know the region well, like *Les deux pieds dehors*, which are really worth checking out. Alternatively, you can also rely on local tourism agencies. This approach isn’t necessarily more expensive than booking activities yourself. Happy planning! Guxie

Hi there,

You can find quite a bit of info on this forum—both pre-COVID and on the Routard forum, where a member regularly chimes in to answer all sorts of questions. We took a 6-week trip across French Polynesia in the summer of 2021, covering 3 archipelagos. It was an amazing journey! If it helps, here’s the link to my travel journal:

Hi Corina,

If you're looking for a trip that truly reflects who you are, I’m an independent Travel Planner living in Tahiti! 🙂

My role? I help you build a 100% personalized itinerary based on your desires, pace, and budget. I provide you with a complete travel journal, including all the practical info (step-by-step detailed itinerary, accommodations, transportation, interactive maps, activities, on-the-ground tips, etc.).

Feel free to check out my profile where my website is listed (ads aren’t allowed here). I’m of course available for any questions or chats!

See you soon,

Johanna

Hello Johanna, Thanks for your reply. However, we’ve changed our plans and won’t be traveling to Polynesia this year. We’ll keep your contact info for another time. Best regards, Gérard
