Je suis parti du 19 juillet au 2 aout à l'hotel catalonia bavaro à punta cana. Je vais expliquer vaguement mon séjour. - L'hotel :
J'ai trouvé l'hotel vraiment excellent ! je n'ai rien a dire dessus ! J'avais une chambre avec TV, ventilateur, air conditionner, grand lit, douche, baignoire, ... et avec un balcon vue sur le terrain de golf. La chambre était confortable, je n'ai rien de spécial a dire à part que dans les derniers jours de mon séjour j'ai eu une petite "invasion de fourmis" de la chambre et surtout dans mon lit lol alors j'ai appellé la reception et directement, une femme de ménage est venue changer les draps du lit et un homme est venu bouché un petit trou par ou les fourmis rentraient et il a mi de l'insecticide dans la chambre. Après, je n'en ai plus jamais revu ! Le service était très bon partout, que se soit à la réception, au restaurant, à la plage, ...
- Les animations :
Comme dans tout les hotels, il y a des animations du matin au soir ( tir a l'arc, aérobic, cours de danse, aquagym, ping pong, pétanque, ...) et le soir il y a le mini disco pour les enfants, puis un spectacle de danses et d'autres animations a la discotheque pour les fétards ! J'étais un peu déçu des animations du soir car chaque jour, se sont des danses et à la fin, on s'en lasse un peu et on à l'impression de toujours voir la même chose ! Sinon les animateurs sont tres sympas et tres gays et ils viennent souvent échanger quelques mots avec vous.
- Bars et restaurants :
La nourriture était tres bonne dans l'ensemble des restaurants.
Comme restaurants, il y a :un grand buffet ou l'on peut y manger, le matin, à midi et le soir. Chaque jour c'est un thème différent ( dominicaines, italiens, espagnol...) un petit restaurant à la piscine ou il y a plutot de la nourriture de fast food (hamburger, hot dog, frites, poulet rotis, ...) un autre restaurant entre la piscine et la plage. Mais celui-ci je ne saurais pas dire quand il est ouvert et ce qu'on y mange car je n'y ai pas été. un restaurant mexicain qui est assez bon mais trop copieu pour moi un restaurant japonais qui était bon mais ou on était un peu trop "nourris à la chaine" pour libérer les tables à temps pour les personnes suivantes... un restaurant francais (tres bon surtout si vous aimez manger des langoustes avec un bon verre de champagne huuummm lol) un restaurant américain (tres bon aussi, surtout pour les fans de gros steaks)
et il y aussi 4 - 5 bars disperser dans l'hotel ou l'on peut boire toutes sortes de boissons et de cocktails qui sont compris dans le all-in
- La plage :
J'avais beaucoup regardé de photos de punta cana sur internet et en arrivant sur place, j'étais un peu déçu... Ce n'est pas que les plages sont laides, elles sont même tres belles, mais pas aussi paradisiaque que les photos qu'on voit sur internet (comme si les photos sur internet et dans les catalogues de voyages étaient "retouchées").
Pensez à prendre des chaussures pour marcher dans la mer car la plage du coté de punta cana est remplies d'algues et les premiers jours j'avais comme des petites blessures sur mes pieds... je ne sais pas si c'était des morsures de betes, des brulures ou de l'urticaire, mais j'aime mieux toujours vous prévenir ! 😛
- Le temps :
Alors la j'étais vraiment décu ! sur mes 14 jours de vacances il y a bien eu 6 jours (presque la moitié) ou il a tout le temps fait gris et ou il y a au moins eu une averse par jour ! J'avais entendu dire sur le forum que meme si sur les sites de météo, on indiquait du mauvais temps, qu'en réalité il faisait quand meme beau ! mais en tout cas les jours ou ils annoncaient du mauvais temps, il y avait vraiment du mauvais temps donc je ne suis pas du meme avis que ceux qui affirment cela!
- Les excursions :
manati park : en voyant beaucoup de pub pour ce park, je me suis dit "pourquoi pas" et j'y suis allez. Mais c'était une tres grosse déception ! En allant dans n'importe quel zoo en europe, vous verrez bien plus d'especes animales ! en 2 ou 3 heures (et encore) vous avez largement fini de visitez le park ! Cette excursion ne vaut la peine que pour les personnes qui ont des enfants et encore je trouve que c'est cher pour ce que c'est. Marinarium : j'ai été faire une promenade en bateau et voir les coraux avec le marinarium. Cette excursion ne dure qu'une demi journée et elle était tres bien ! il y a une tres bonne ambiance sur le bateau et on peut voir des requins, des raies, ... parmis les coraux Petit tour dans Higuey : j'ai fait un petit tour en taxi dans higuey, j'ai été voir quelques magasin, la cathédrale d'higuey, le marché d'higuey... J'étais un peu étonné de la ville car je m'attendais plutot a une ville plus "riches" avec plus de magasin du style "européen" mais cette petite promenade était amusante et dépaysante. Saona : c'est l'excursion que j'ai le plus aimé, c'était vraiment magnifique, ca vaut vraiment la peine de la faire meme si elle est un peu cher !

Si vous partez bientot en république dominicaine, profitez bien de vos vacances, car ca passe vraiment tres vite et de retour dans votre pays, vous aurez le cafard pendant une semaine 😕...
Si je comprend bien il y as beaucoup plus de positifs que de négatifs pour cette destination, quand on débute un commentaire par malheureusement de retour celà en dit long.
Une chose m'intrigue cependant, au cours de mes 4 voyages en R.D. je n'ai jamais vus d'algues dans l'océan ou dans la mer des Caraïbes sauf très peu une fois a Juan Dolio, je ne sais pas si quelqu'un sur ce forum peut me dire si celà dépend de la période de l'année ou on se rend là-bas . Je suis toujours allé en R.D. en mars, avril ou début mai .
Je suis heureux que tu ai fait un beau voyage malgré la température et c'est vrai que le retour est toujours pénible mais il faut bien revenir si l'on veut repartir .
En ce qui concerne les algues, on dirait que toute la région de punta cana est touchée (peut-etre parce que c'est plutot l'océan atlantique que la mer des caraibes ?). Pendant mon séjour j'avais loué une fois un petit catamaran et j'avais remonté un peu la côte vers le nord et la, c'était encore pire ! il y avait des algues a perte de vue sur toute la plage 🤪. A certains endroits, il y avait tellement d'algues qu'on voyait qu'il y avait des "bosses" d'algues qui sortaient de l'eau... Je suis même rester coincé une heure dedans, impossible de s'en défaire, les responsables du bateaux ont du venir m'aider...
Ca, c'est vrai que le retour est pénible, le pire est de penser qu'il reste une année de travail et une année a subir le mauvais temps de la Belgique avant de pouvoir (peut-etre) partir en vacance😄

Hey, I’d like to know which hotel in the south doesn’t force you to wake up at 4 AM just to reserve a shady chair, whether it’s at the beach or the pool.
I wanted to share a great discovery in the Marakele area because, in the end, this park doesn’t get talked about much compared to Kruger, even though it’s really worth the detour.
We discovered Cypiro Leopard Lodge, right next to Marakele National Park in the Waterberg. It’s a small property with just a few villas and suites, so it’s nothing like the big, crowded lodges. What we loved most was the feeling of being truly at the end of the world—lots of space, silence, and almost no one around.
And yet, it’s only about 3 hours from Johannesburg. Once you leave Joburg, the road is pretty straightforward, and you quickly find yourself in a much wilder Africa.
Marakele National Park was a huge surprise for us. There are plenty of animals, the Big Five are present, but best of all, very few people. At times, we drove for quite a while without seeing another car. It’s such a change from parks where you sometimes end up with 15 cars around one animal.
The landscapes are also stunning, with the Waterberg mountains, plains, and beautiful views from some of the trails.
We also learned on-site that Marakele is known for its very large Cape vulture colony—around 800 breeding pairs. When you climb into the mountains and see them soaring above, it’s pretty impressive.
The entire Waterberg region is actually a UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve, and you quickly understand why once you’re there.
As for Cypiro, it’s a lodge that was recently taken over by French owners—really nice and approachable. The place is quite exclusive since there are very few accommodations. The villas and suites each have their own private pool, a wood-fired hot bath (like a KolKol), a braai, and an outdoor fireplace.
Evenings are especially lovely, especially with the peace and quiet all around.
Another thing we found really convenient: you can organize your stay however you like.
You can come self-catering and cook for yourself. There’s a supermarket in the nearby small town, practically on the way in, so you can do your shopping before arriving without making a big detour.
Or you can ask them to organize everything with breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Their chef, Ernest, cooks really well, and it lets you completely unwind for a few days.
We liked being able to alternate: some quiet meals on our own and others prepared for us.
That’s actually one of the things we appreciated here—it’s not an ultra-formal lodge where everything is scheduled at fixed times. You can head out early to Marakele, come back for lunch, enjoy the pool, go back out in the late afternoon, then have a braai or a relaxed dinner in the evening.
In terms of price, we also found the value for money really good for this level of accommodation and especially for the very private feel of the place. Sometimes it feels like you’re in a much more expensive lodge.
If you’re looking for lots of activity and dozens of people around you, this probably isn’t the right spot.
But for peace, wildlife, nature, wide-open spaces, and that feeling of being a little alone in the world, we absolutely loved it.

And if anyone knows Marakele or the Waterberg well, I’d love to hear about other spots to discover in the area.
While digging through the archives 🔍, we discovered a 19th-century journal 📜 bearing the name: "Le Petit Baigneur, weekly journal of beaches, spa towns, and thermal resorts in the South of France", published as early as 1886. Its motto? "All for the baths and by the baths" 🏖️ — what a program!
We found the name so amusing that we chose it to rename our hotel: Hôtel Le Petit Baigneur!
140 years later, we’re carrying on this seaside tradition of the South of France in our own way 🏊♂️ — with a few fewer crinolines, but just as much love for the seaside. 😊

I found a hotel, the Kappa Club Crystal Bay Resort, and online reviews for this hotel recommend a guide named Omar. I contacted him via WhatsApp, and he's offering a 2-day, 1-night safari in Tsavo East, a "blue safari," and a Marafa Canyon day trip for 400 € per person.
I’m asking for help from people who’ve already done these excursions because I have no idea what these offers entail.

For four nights with breakfast, our budget is around 1,400 € per couple. To avoid too much walking for him, I’d also prefer a hotel where we could potentially eat dinner in the evenings.

You can’t pay online there—you just submit a reservation request (enquiry).
The second is the NWR (Namibia Wildlife Resorts) site: https://www.nwr.com.na, where you *can* pay online.
Is the latter one reliable?

Bonjour nous arriverons dimanche 5 mai ( à partir de 16h25) à l'aéroport de Punta Cana pour profiter d'un séjour que mon amie à gagner à l’hôtel Gran Bahia Principe La Romana.
L'avion est offert par la compagnie aérienne, l'hôtel je pense par la chaine hôtelière, mais aujourd'hui je m’inquiète du transfert car aucune info et j'apprends que rien n'est prévu.
D’après ce que j'ai vu le dernier car expreso part de Punta Cana à 16h00
Y-a t'il d'autres moyens de transports collectif (guagua) qui puisse faire le trajet ou au moins nous avancer jusqu'à La Romana ou San Pedro de Marcoris et je pense qu'on finira le trajet en taxi.
Si c'est trop compliqué ça sera navette privée mais on est plus "lonely planet " que navette privée et hôtel tout inclus.
Bonjour j ai effectué des reservations d hebergement sur l amerique du sud par l intermediaire de Booking en fevrier dernier pour novembre 2020 . A ce jour elles n apparaissent plus sur mon compte Booking , j en ai informé par mail le service clients mais ce dernier ne repond pas ...donc impossible d annuler ces reservations....Quelqu un a t il connu ce probleme et l a t il resolu ??? A quoi doit-on faire attention en dehors du resort (voire dans le resort, car c'est souvent le coup de fusil chez eux ;) ) ?
