Retour de ( mauvaise) expérience location Hd Electra chez Eagle rider pour la 66 départ Chicago septembre 2013:
-Déjà Eagle rider France demande de devis : aucune réponse malgré mes 2 mails (!)
Eagle rider Us réponse (presque) instantané !!!
-A Main depot Eagle Rider Chicago on est mal recu au sercice location ; en plus les motos sont a l arrière cour et on passe avant dans un atelier en désordre peu reluisant...
-Casques sales, abimes, disparates, etc...pas ranges en vrac ...
-L electra a. 32 000miles soit env 50 000km
Etat gal moyen a peine propre (!) elle a des heures de vol ...au lieu de l autoradio d origine avec cdes au guidon trône un "vilain" autoradio Sony a 50€ sans cdes au guidon et qui reste allume en bleu en permanence : gênant la nuit et impossible de le mettre sur OFf
-Je demande si je peux changer car il y a d autres Electra : on me rit presque au nez impossible : ici on est un numéro et rien d autres ! Sympa quand vous leur laissez 3000 $ economises $ après $ !
-Puis on m expédie rapidement juste savoir si j ai déjà conduit une harley
-La moto: Electra CLASSIC sans ABS (= la moins chere):compte tenu du poids de la moto (400kg). Je m apercevrai par la suite que ce détail à son importance surtout sous la pluie...
-Les freins avt couinent fort à chaque freinage (plaquettes )
-L embrayage patine dans certaines conditions
-Le moteur émet des bruits peu rassurants par moments signes d un entretien "hasardeux" !
-La fixation de la béquille est tordu : résultat il faut se déhancher pour la rabattre a chaque fois ...
-Devant l inconfort surtout a l arrière ( talonne, tape a la moindre bosse ce qui est anormal pour l Electra) pour mon epouse je m arrête a une autre concession : il n y a plus de pression sur les amortisseurs arrière (pneumatiques/hydrauliques) donc pas vérifies! Les pneus sont surgonflés pour durer plus longtemps (!) resultat : bonjour l inconfort !
-Je loue assez souvant des Hd et Electra aux Us et ailleurs chez les concessionnaires et c est le jour et la nuit tant le concessionnaire vous loue des motos très récentes avec peu de km dans un état parfait et au minimum des ultra classic ou limited nettement mieux équipés et confortables pour le passager
Et au même prix (souvent moins cher ) avec a chaque fois beaucoup d amabilité dans l espoir de vous en vendre une à votre retour...
Hélas devant laisser la moto prise à Chicago a Albuquerque je n avais pas d autres choix que Eagle rider mais c est bien la dernière fois...
Pour ceux qui font la 66 en entier ou arrêt à Vegas il faut louer chez les concessionnaires Hd a LA chez Bartels ( très sérieux) ou a Hd Vegas ou a Hd Chicago et vous pourrez la laisser dans une de ces 3 villes; ces concessionnaires ont des accords entre eux; je déconseille très fortement Eagle rider .
Pour être agrée point officiel : Harley Davidson Rental , le concessionnaire à l'obligation de louer des motos de l'année en cours et de moins de 15000 kms . ( je suis bien placé pour le savoir 😄 )
Donc effectivement , il faut privilégier la location en concession , d'autant que les prix sont pratiquement les mêmes 😉
peut-être serait-il bon de préciser dans ton titre Eaglerider-Chicago car ce n'est sans doute pas un cas général chez Eaglerider.
A signaler auprès de la direction de Eaglerider ? ... l'as-tu fait ?
nous sommes passés également par Eaglerider, en 2007 de Dallas TX à Las Vegas NV (8 motos)
en 2012 de Denver CO à Salt Lake City UT (15 motos, que des EG).
Nous n'avons pas eu de problème dans les deux cas.
Mais louer directement auprès des concessionnaires HD est effectivement un solution.
bien sur j ai ecrit a Eagle rider mais sans reponses de leur part ....ce qui me conforte dans le fait qu on est qu un NO pour eux...apres paiement on n existe plus !
de plus j ai eu d autres motards et chapters HD se plaignant de Eagle Rider autres que Chicago...

le route 66 est un vrai bonheur pour ceux qui ont un peu de temps a ne pas prendre l autoroute...
la faire avec une moto en mauvais etat, inconfortable, gache un peu de ce bonheur et c est dommage !
surtout que la location a un cout : 200 euros jour TTC avec le 'one way' et les assurances (que celles de la moto !)en sept 2013 chez Eagle Rider : a ce prix on peut etre un minimum exigeant sur la moto, son entretien, son etat, des casques propres?
alors qu avec les concessionnaires HD ce n est a chaque fois (L.A., Sturgis, Vegas) "que du bonheur " avec une moto a chaque fois pratiquement neuve, un accueil irreprochable et a un prix (legerement) inferieur pour une 'Ultra Classic" ou "Limited "bien mieux equipees que les "classic" d Eagle Rider de 50 000km de plus tres "fatiguees"...
aussi si je peux eviter a d autres pareille mesaventure avec Eagle Rider, c est mon unique but !
Nous avons loué deux Electra chez Eagle Rider en 2012, motos prises à Orlando et rendue à LA.
Motos quasi neuves, nous n'avons pas eu un seul pépin, hormis un régulateur électrique qui a lâché sur une des deux, problème qui semble récurrent sur les Electra de 2011 et 2012. Nous avons fait réparer dans une concession HD à San Antonio/TX, mais ils n'avaient pas la pièce en stock (comme souvent dans les concessions), ils ont dû la commander à Milwaukee, la pièce est venue en avion DHL et nous avons dû faire un stop de 36 heures à San Antonio (Ok c'est pas le pire endroit ...).
A part ça, aucun souci. Eagle Rider nous a remboursé la nuit d'hôtel passée à San Antonio et nous a déduit des miles (nous avions un forfait de 2700 miles et nous en avons fait plus de 3600). Ils ont été très arrangeant sur ce coup.
Je suis assez d'accord pour confirmer que Eagle Rider est une usine à location sans vraiment de suivi. Néanmoins, passer par une concession HD n'est pas si simple suivant l'itinéraire que tu concoctes. Ca va sur la 66, trajet tellement emprunté, mais si tu fais un Seattle-San Diego par exemple, là plus trop le choix...
D'ici 2016, nous ferons un autre trip en moto aux USA, mais certainement une boucle avec départ et arrivée à Salt Lake City. J'irai comparer les coûts entre Eagle Rider et les concessions HD mormones (...).
Pour les casques, je prends toujours le mien (même si c'est chiant dans l'avion). Les casques qui te sont prêtés ne peuvent être essayés quelques minutes, tu ne les connais pas à l'avance (donc pas moyen de savoir s'ils sont silencieux ou confortables). Il suffit qu'ils soient trop petit de quelques mm et bonjour l'inconfort sur le reste du voyage ...

J ai le plaisir de vous informer que l un des directeurs d Eagle Rider vient de me répondre en s'excusant et en m offrant une semaine de location gratuite que je vais utiliser à Daytona au printemps prochain.
Il me fait également cadeau de la surcharge de 45$/ jour pour Daytona, seules les assurances seront à ma charge.
Je salue donc ce geste à sa juste valeur et je peux maintenant dire que Eagle Rider est sérieux !
Une (ou plusieurs dans mon cas) erreur(s) étant toujours possible Eagle Rider à sut réparer de jolie manière et c est tout à leur honneur...

Professionnel de l'organisation de voyages moto (et commercial dans mon ancienne vie professionnelle), j'ai déjà vérifié l'adage comme quoi on a pas deux fois l'occasion de faire une première bonne impression.
La Route 66 n'est pas (encore) à mon catalogue à ce jour mais je sais que nombre de mes confrères qui vendent ce séjour ne travaillent qu'avec Eagle Rider 😕
C'est d'autant plus surprenant que quand on connaît ce milieu, on sait que c'est parfois la loterie avec ce loueur. Et en plus, il est aussi un concurrent car il a développé une activité de ventes de voyages pour mieux faire tourner son parc locatif ! 🤪
Bref, quand je vais m'y mettre, je crois que je vais aussi lorgner du côté des concessionnaires 😎

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.

We haven’t booked any hotels—is that a problem? We were thinking of deciding day by day based on our progress.
Can we take our helmets with us in the cabin, or should we pack them in the checked luggage surrounded by clothes to avoid damage?
