J'ai en projet de venir m'installer en Nouvelle Calédonie fin 2007, et j'aimerais beaucoup avoir quelques renseignements..
On m'a dit qu'il n'était pas facile de trouver un emploi quand on débarque de métropole, mais qu'en est y il dans le domaine de l'hotellerie? J'ai de l'expérience dans l'accueil récéption, une petite formation en cuisine...
Est ce que j'aurais une chance de trouver un travail? Et de préférence en dehors de Nouméa et des villes...
Je sais qu'il est préférable d'être sur place, mais quelques petits conseils devraient m'aider!

Effectivement tu n'es pas la première à poser des questions concernant une éventuelle installation en Nouvelle-Calédonie. Pour information, la plupart des établissements hôteliers et de restauration sont, sur la grande terre, centralisés sur Nouméa et sa périphérie immédiate. Il y a bien sur, de ci de là, des établissements implantés hors "Le grand Nouméa", mais je doute fort qu'ils recherchent du personnel. Je connais bien ce domaine, puisque dans le cadre de mon activité professionnelle, je suis amené à contrôler (pour des raisons sanitaires concernant les produits de la mer proposés dans ces établissements) toutes les structures de la grande terre (la plus grande île de l'archipel composant la Nouvelle-Calédonie, appelée aussi "Le caillou").
Par ailleurs, hors Nouméa les hôteliers et restaurateurs sont plus enclins à recruter du personnel local car ainsi ils évitent les problèmes relationnels avec les habitants des tribus proches de leurs lieux d'implantation. Pour eux, embaucher du personnel issu des tribus voisines est une façon de se soustraire à la vindicte des pro-indépendantistes, très présents en dehors de la ville de Nouméa et sur les quatre autres îles (Ile des pins - Ouvéa - Lifou et Maré) de la Nouvelle-Calédonie.
Je te conseille aussi de lire la rubrique du forum de ce site concernant l'installation en Nouvelle-Calédonie et ainsi t'inspirer des réponses et des retours d'expériences vécus par chacun dans ce domaine.

Je suis un petit peu dans la même situation, sauf que j'ai déjà trouvé du travail, dans la branche de l'architecture à Nouméa. Je part la semaine prochaine pour au moins un an et je suis à la recherche de bons plans de logement (location appart ou autres) les informations en agences (en ligne) étant assez floues.
Tout ça pour dire que si jamais vous cherchez des contacts ou autres informations une fois que je serais installé ce sera avec plaisir.
Je m'y prends un peu à la dernière minute pour le logement et toute information est bonne à prendre!

nous sommes un couple et nous nous installons au mois de janvier .
Pour ce qui est du logement le must est de connaitre quelqu'un sur place pour te loger ou tous simplement l'auberge de jeunesse . elle est conseillée par tous sur les différents forums .
Je suis dans le tourisme et la culture de part mon BTS tourisme. Mon mec est dans le métier du batiment. il a un cursus tailleur de pierre et un bac prodans le même domaine . Il a fait une fac d'art et une expérience professionnelle de trois ans en tant que chef d'équipe (équipe de 2 à 5 ouvriers). Il crée son blog aujourd'huidonc si tu prends des nouvelles et que tu peux nous pistonner alors on t'envoie l'adresse .

je suis arrivée il y a une semaine.Pour les filles c'est facile de trouver du boulot ( petit job), il suffit de bien présenté et d'avoir le sourire.En accueil il faut que tu parle anglais, tu peux trouver dans une brasserie sinon, en cuisine aussi je pense.Par contre en dehors de Nouméa c'est pas pareil, si tu connais personne ça risque d'être plus difficile. Comme cela à dû déjà être abordé sur le forum, l'emploi local est privilégié, ce qui est normal.

Je suis aussi dans le secteur du bâtiment, et cherche un moyen de m'établir sur le "Caillou" en tant que plombier (actuellement à mon compte en métropole).
Eventuellement salarié au départ, puis à mon compte par la suite...
Cela vous paraît-il viable ? Les employeurs locaux embauchent-ils des zoreilles ? Les institutions locales (Chambre de Métiers, etc.) accompagnent-elles les "métro" pour s'installer comme artisan du bâtiment ?...

Au niveau de l'hebergement, je pensais passer par l'auberge de jeunesse, est-il possible de trouver un appart ou même un studio assez rapidement et quels sont les tarifs en vigueur sur Nouméa?

Ca y est maintenant j'y suis.
Pour le logement, si vous le souhaitez je pourrais vous héberger à votre arrivée le temps de trouver quelques chose. Personnelement, je suis dans un studio trouvé en urgence et de ce fait ca me coutes les yeux de la tête! C'est pourquoi il est important d'avoir au moins quelques jours le temps de se trouver quelques choses de pas trop cher.

Je ne sais pas si ta proposition concerne tout le monde ou pas, mais quoi qu'il en soit c'est sympa de ta pars de proposer un hébergement aux nouveaux arrivants...
Je te contact en fait pour savoir si au lieu nous héberger, ma compagne et moi, tu pourrai peut être glaner quelques pistes pour un logement correct avant qu'on arrive (histoire d’éviter la même galère que toi, à savoir être obligé de prendre un appart en catastrophe si j’ai bien compris), je ne te demande pas de faire des visites, etc. mais seulement noter quelques n° de tel quand tu passes devant une agence ou en discutant avec des locaux.

Voila je veux partir de mon trou perdu (lol) depuis quelques temps et hésite longuement sur la destination! après avoir pensé à l'angleterre, je me dis que le soleil peut etre sympa aussi! ca fé maintenan pas mal de temps que j'y pense et je me dit que de partir à plusieurs pourrait etre sympa, plus conviviale, et que l'on pourrait s'entraider. j'aimerais partir début de l'année prochaine soit aux alentours de janvier! l'auberge pourrait etre sympa pour commencer et par la suite une coloc serait sympa je pense! After living for many years in the West (Belgium, Italy, Switzerland),
I’ve decided to return and settle in Cameroon, my home country.
Currently an entrepreneur in real estate and transport, I’m looking for a partner / partners / foundation to collaborate on an agriculture project, as I own 10 hectares of land.
The hectares have remained unused for years due to a lack of financial means, since the project requires what I’d call a considerable investment. As the main stakeholder, I have a minimal contribution to offer.
