Je viens d'être muté à St Martin avec mon épouse pour la rentrée prochaine. Nous connaissons déjà l'île pour y avoir passé quelques jours l'été dernier. Professeurs des écoles, nous travaillerons à Marigot.
Notre projet : trouver dans un premier temps un appartement (T3 ou grand T2) meublé et bien situé par rapport à notre travail. Pour un véhicule, vaut-il mieux acheter sur place ou faire transporter celui de métropole (clio climatisée) ? Nous partons sans meubles, sans électro-ménager, seulement avec nos affaires personnelles.
Nous sommes à la recherche de toutes les infos concernant la vie sur l'île.

pour le vehicule l'achat est moins cher ici mais il y a de tout et n'importe quoi alors attention a la provenance. il y a deux pays et sur le coté hollandais les papiers types controle technique, provenance des vehicules sont different et donc pleins d'arnaque. donc acheter du coté francais en priorité (ou bien se renseigner pour le coté hollandais) et de moins de trois ans c mieux.
les voitures francaises sont bien mais souvent en deuxieme vehicule alors pour venir avec tout dépend de son etat du prix du déménagement.
les logement vous trouverez a tous les prix mais a coté d'ou vous travaillez, marigot ou concordia c pas génial les T2 et T3 c vite des hlm donc vaut mieux allez un peu plus loin.Forcement les prix vont augmenter en fonction du lieu d'habitation (minimum 800 euros pour qq chose de correcte et de pas mal situé).
Attention vous etes venus que qq jours donc vous ne connaissez pas cette iles qui reserve des fois de mauvaises surprises malgré la beauté du site et ses plages paradisiaques.Ce n'est pas la guadeloupe ni la martinique....
pour l'electro menager vous trouverez tout ici. l'electricité est differente que celle de metropole, ici c'est du 60 hertz au lieu du 50 en france ou inversement. donc tout acheter en 50-60 hertz.Attention a ne pas se faire avoir, meme dans les magasins.
comme vous le savez surement st martin est détaché de la guadeloupe en COM avec ses propres impots et taxes qui se mettent en place tout doucement. En ce qui concerne la vie de tous les jours c'est un peu une zone de non droit et assez violente avec beaucoup de meurtres et d'agression. La france a envoyé depuis qq semaine une compagnie de crs pour essayer d'enrayer cette escalade de violence que nous connaissons depuis qq années.

sans voiture c un peu galere car des que la nuit tombe il vaut mieux ne pas etre a pied et encore moins en tant que femme seule.
les coins sympas quand il fait jour a marigot c'est partout. Le soir il y a les restos sur le port et ensuite les bars et clubs de la marina qui se trouve a cote.
le probleme rest qu'il ne faut pas sortir seul a pied le soir il vaut mieux etre trois ou quatre avec des hommes.
Ca ira qq temps sans voiture mais il y a beaucoup plus de chose a faire cote hollandais et d'autres endroits coté francais comme soirée sur la plage, bar de plage, soiree a theme mais il faut un vehicule. Le stop et les taxis le soir vaut mieux oublier... mais bon ne t'inquiete pas tu rencontrera vite beaucoup de monde si tu sort un peu mais attention aux intentions de certains... si tu aimes faire la fete toute la semaine non stop dans des endroits assez paradisiaque c'est le bon endroit tu vas t'eclater. c'est un melange de la cote d'azur et de miami en plus petit mais avec tout ce qui va avec: megayachts, beach party et tout le reste. attention au coté obscur de cette ile qui est ravageuse...

je suis daccord avec tchiad sans voiture c'est galère et malheureusement comme partout il y à la violence et autres, le soir il faut donc fréquenté les endoit ou il y à du monde et croit moi il y en a surtout coté hollandais ou sa bouge bien. la journé tu aura le choix entre une multitude de plage plus ou moin déserte du coté français. Dailleur, tu ensseignera dans quel établissement ? j'ai moi meme passé mon enfance et je doit dire qu'il faut une bonne dose de patiance et vite adopter non pas la mentalité car il y à trop de cultures différentes mais le mode de vie là bas car moi perso je passais mon tps à la plage plutot que les banc de l'école 😉😎 ( sa se voit à mon orthographe!!!)
mais je te souhaite de bon moment à sxm et qui sait on se vera un jour et on ira prendre un ptit cocktail sur la plage...

je travaille en tant qu'assistante de direction en france, mon mari est assistant de gestion, mais nous sommes prets à changer de profession si
nécessaire. Combien faut il d'argent pour se "lancer" dans l'aventure, càd en attendant de trouver un emploi ? avec des enfants la décision est
d'autant plus "compliquée".
je n'ai aucune idée des salaires sur l'ile dans notre branche, ici nous avons des salaires moyens (approximativement 2400€ + les aides sociales
pour nos trois enfants), nous louons pour 1000€, est ce envisageable ce meme schéma à saint martin?
je remercie toutes celles et ceux qui prendront le temps de me répondre, nous avons très envie de changer d'air, pour nous et aussi nos enfants,
c'est une expérience que nous aimerions tenter, mais pas n'importe comment ni à n'importe quel prix.

Ton message est de 2008, quel est ton retour sur la vie à Marigot? je voudrais aller là bas aussi mais on entend tellement que ce n'est pas "safe"... . Qu'en penses-tu? Je voudrais y aller avec ma fille de 3 ans et demi, que penses tu des écoles maternelles publiques à Marigot par exemple? sont-elles bilingue?

After living for many years in the West (Belgium, Italy, Switzerland),
I’ve decided to return and settle in Cameroon, my home country.
Currently an entrepreneur in real estate and transport, I’m looking for a partner / partners / foundation to collaborate on an agriculture project, as I own 10 hectares of land.

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
