Where to stay for bike rides along the canals in Brittany?

Original post
Hello, I'm looking for a small town where we can eat and stay near the canals of Brittany to do short bike rides of about 50 km round trip. Ideally, it would be a town at a junction of several canals, but I'm not sure if that exists. Otherwise, a town like Redon with the Nantes-Brest canal and, on the other side, the Vilaine River. But I don’t know if there are paths that can be used along these canals.

Thanks for replying if you have any ideas.

Cheers, Néo.

Hi, REDON (postal code: 35600) is at the junction of the Vilaine River and the Nantes-Brest canal. I think it could work well for you. To help you explore the options, here’s a link: https://www.tourisme-pays-redon.com/par-les-sentiers-et-chemins/les-grands-itineraires-0

Have a great day.

Hi Hervé, and thanks for the reply. The Pontivy area could also be interesting. It’ll be the accommodation that decides our final stop. Have a great day

Hi there, without a doubt based on your criteria, head to Pontivy. You’ll be at the center of a *triskel* (three-way hub). You can ride the artificial section of the Nantes-Brest Canal toward Rohan, pedal up to Guerlédan, or follow the Blavet River down to Hennebont. In the summer, there’s the Napoleon Express (a tourist train) running through the Blavet Valley—you can load your bikes on it, pick a stop, and return to Pontivy via the towpath 😉 Happy planning! 😎

Hi Arplomer, and thanks for the reply. I initially picked Redon, but Pontivy’s more central location is really appealing. I’m gonna go with Pontivy. It’ll be a change from the seaside. Now I just need to find somewhere to stay. Thanks everyone, and have a great weekend
