Nous avons le projet d'aller au Kirghistan avec un véhicule ; avant de rentrer dans les détails de l'organisation, nous nous posons plusieurs questions :
- est-il possible de revendre ou donner le véhicule sur place, véhicule qui fera probablement l'aller mais plus difficilement le retour ?
- est-il possible de traverser le Turkmenistan ?
- est-il facile de passer avec un véhicule les frontières de Turquie, Iran....?
Si quelqu'un a déjà fait l'expérience de ce trajet, merci de nous donner quelques infos ou de nous renvoyer vers des sites ou blogs de voyageurs.

L'obstacle majeur à la traversée d'un pays hors europe avec un véhicule immatriculé en france est administratif. Il a pour nom Carnet de passage. Le principe est simple.
Pour éviter que vous ne vendiez votre véhicule dans un des pays traversé sans payer de taxes d'importation, il faut apporter la garantie aux douanes que vous ressortirez bien avec le véhicule.
Si vous vendez/laissez la voiture dans un des pays, vous perdez le dépôt précédemment fait par vous pour établir le carnet de passage. La valeur de ce dépôt varie, et peut être très, très importante (jusqu'à plusieurs fois la valeur à l'Argus de votre voiture...).
Vendre le véhicule impliquera le paiement de taxes d'importation. Je ne connais pas leur importance au Kirghizstan. Un seul conseil, ne vendez pas en Ouzbékistan, les taxes d'import de voiture sont de 100%...Sinon, il reste la solution de détruire le véhicule là-bas, mais ça fera un coup au coeur...
Le challenge consiste donc à avoir un carnet de passage en règle pour tout les pays traversés, en plus des visas pour les passagers...
Je n'ai pas voyagé avec mon propre véhicule, mais j'avais passé une après-midi avec un suisse voyageant en 4x4 à Dushambé qui avait pris le temps de m'expliquer ce que j'ai écrit ci-dessus.
Cette été, la traversée du Turkménistan était possible. Si quelqu'un a des informations plus récentes...

Je me permets de venir sur cette discussion car j'ai le même projet. Le problème, c'est en effet ce CPD qui est vraiment trop cher ! N'y a-t-il pas un moyen de faire un papier aux frontières pour prouver sa bonne foi ? Parce que personnellement, je veux bien entendu revenir en voiture. Si, sur place, on demande un visa de transit, la logique voudrait que la voiture ne doit être vendue (sinon, il n'y a plus transit), donc est-ce possible en ce sens ?
Nan, ça marche pas, car tu peux demander un visa de transit terrestre et vendre ta voiture au milieu, puis prendre les transports en communs ou un taxi...
Qui plus est, des douaniers qui te croient sur ta bonne fois, ça n'existe pas...

J'ai vu 2 motard italiens se faire refouler à la frontière Egyptienne.
Dans certains cas ça peux passer (on ne me l'a pas demandé en entrant en mauritanie) mais je trouve ça tres hasardeux de se demander si on ne va pas se trouver bloquer à chaque frontière....
Apres, si ton vehicule est ancien le prix n'est pas si elevé (de mémoire une moto plus cotée dans les 3000 au taux de 100%, le plus repandu), surtout que tu récupère ta caution au retour (précision : la caution est encaissée...). il dépent aussi des pays traversés.
Bon, ce n'est pas une très bonne nouvelle. Je ne comprends pas la logique derrière cette peur à la vente sauvage de véhicules, comme si ça représentait quelque chose d'intolérable, ou de généralisé. Je ne comprends pas non plus qu'en 2012, on doive mettre 300 papiers dans sa boîte à gants pour franchir 6 pays en voiture. Mais bref.
Donc si je résume, il faut impérativement un CPD à partir de l'Iran (je crois qu'en Turquie, « ça passe »). J'ai aussi lu que pour le Pakistan, il fallait impérativement faire le visa en France. Est-ce le cas pour tous les autres pays (notamment l'Inde) ?

Jusqu'à la turquie tu n'auras aucun problème en effet.
Sur le site de l'automobile club de l'ouest tu auras toutes les infos pour le fameux carnet. (tarifs en fonction des pays et du véhicule).
A ne pas perdre en cours, et surtout vérifier qu'il bien tamponné à l'entrée et surtout à la sortie du pays.
Les visas, si tu peux planifier tes dates, le fait de les prendre tous en france est un soucis (et un retard..) de moins. C'est pas toujours possible compte tenu du délai pour les avoir en france, et de leur durée de validité.
Pour ma part je suis entrain de tout prépaprer pour france->inde (mais plus au nord, via la chine) et j'en prendrais sur la route. Etudie bien les pays, et les villes où tu peux les avoir facilement et le plus vite. (plein d'infos sur le forum)
C'est vrai que toute cette paperasse est le plus long à préparer avant le départ...
Merci pour toutes ces informations. J'avais déjà regardé le site de l'Automobile Club et la caution hors de prix demandée. D'autant plus chère que nous partons avec une vieille Peugeot 309, dont la valeur argus n'existe plus (du coup 3200€, ça paraît énorme).
J'imagine que tu ne pars pas en voiture vu que tu parles de la Chine (j'ai lu qu'il était pratiquement impossible de rouler avec sa voiture en Chine). Quels visas comptes-tu prendre sur place exactement ?
Ce qui est gênant dans mon cas pour les visas, c'est que les ambassades demandent des dates précises avec réservations d'hôtels (etc.), et nous voulons justement voyager « librement ». Certains parlent d'avoir juste au moins une réservation de principe, mais je ne sais pas trop si dans la pratique ça fonctionne.
J'ai aussi lu que parfois, avoir un visa sur place peut prendre énormément de temps. Donc effectivement, ça demande de l'organisation. Et j'avoue que l'organisation, c'est à l'opposé de mon idée du voyage. J'aime bien partir sur un coup de tête sans avoir une idée arrêtée de la destination. Force est de constater que là, ce n'est pas du tout possible.
Pour ma part c'est en moto. De mémoire j'ai déja du aussi avoir une caution de l'ordre de 3000 euros aussi. J'ai déja pris 2 fois le fameux carnet et n'ai jamais eu de soucis au retour, donc ca ne te coute que le prix de l'emission de carnet (env. 100 euros je crois). C'est vrai qu'entre temps faut quand même sortir l'argent...
Je part aussi en moto jusqu'en inde, via la chine. Les problèmes sont a peu prés les mêmes pour entrer en Chine que ce soit en voiture ou moto : obligation de passer par une agence (trés cher quand on est que 2 motos...) , pas mal de paperasse et permis en tout genre, mais pas trop le choix.
Pour les visas compte tenu du planning on va prendre le maixmum en france, mais vu que c'est pas une crouse de vitesse je pense qu'on ne pourra prendre que l'iranien.
Je crois que l'ouzbeke on donne des dates d'entrée et de sortie, ce qui pemet de le prendre pas mal de temps en avance, donc en france aussi.
Les dates demandées sont les date prévues d'entrée, dans le sens où tu pourras pas entrer AVANT la date données, mais ça reste possible APRES. Il faut donc compter assez large.
Pour certains pays, on peut avoir un visa simplifié quand c'est pour du "transit" .. valable juste qq jours (turkmenistan par ex).
Après tu peux partir à l'improvisation (sauf pour le carnet....), car si tu as du temps tu arrivera toujours à obtenir des visas sur place, mais cela peut dans certains cas prendre 10-15jours.... Par contre bien prevoir les pays/villes/adresses des ambassades à l'avance quand même...
Oui, en effet j'ai lu des avis identiques quant aux agences, pour passer en Chine. Il paraît qu'avec un contact Chinois, on peut aussi contourner ces fameuses agences. J'ai aussi lu quelques personnes qui étaient parvenues à passer en Chine avec leur véhicule grâce au carnet ATA, ou son équivalent le CPD Chine-Taiwan, délivré par la CCI de Paris. Le carnet ATA peut être une excellente alternative car il ne coûte pas cher, et peut être délivré aux particuliers.
il est tout a fait possible de vendre une voiture immatriculée française au Kirghizstan.
J'ai un projet pareil pour septembre prochain.
Les voitures allemandes ou japonaises se vendent bien, si c'est des marques françaises ou autres presque impossible de trouver un acheteur.

Bonjour a tous je me permets de relancer le sujet. En effet jai un projet similaire, partir de France pour rejoindre le Kirghizstan via la Russie ce qui m a l air moins contraignant que par la Turquie, Azerbaïdjan, Ouzbékistan. Pour ma part, me premier soucis rencontré c est pour le visa transit russe, c est super cher et très exigeant. Autre question, quelles sont les formalités afin de traverser la russie , Kazakhstan et enfin l entrée au kirghozstan sachant que le but est de vendre le véhicule sur place.... si quelqu un a déjà fait le même trajet et vendu son véhicule au Kirghizstan je suis preneur d infos !
Comme tu veux vendre la voiture sur place, celui qui l'achete payera une taxe pour pouvoir immatriculer la voiture au Kirghizstan. Ce qui fait que le prix final sera tres elevé et personne ne voudra l'acheter
Avec quelle voiture tu veux venir? La marque, volume de moteur, l'annee??? Ca joue beaucoup sur le coefficiant de la taxe. Si t'achete une voiture en Russie, aucun probleme pour immatriculer au kirghizstan. La solution c'est devendre ta voiture en Europe en Pologne par exmple tu entre en Russie sans voiture. T'achetes une autre pour venir au Kirghizstan.
Moi, jai fait ce voyage en 2012 avec des amis francais et tout s'est bien passé. Les passages de frontires n'ont posé aucun probleme, ni les flics ont pas embeté. C'etait un des plus beau voyage que j'ai fait.
Salut, jai une nissan almera 2l diesel de 1998. Elle doit faire dans les 75 ch. Le marché de l occaz en Russie est intéressant ? Sinon, je pensais que le véhicule pourrait servir de banque de pièces.... je comprend mieux pourquoi les véhicules coutent aussi cher au kirghozstan, ce sont les taxes locales qui font grimper les prix....

Le vol repéré : entrée BKK et retour France = 31 jours après.

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’ve tried my hotel, the Lotte Hotel (which is well-known in Seoul), the airport—basically, I’ve entered at least 20 addresses, all rejected....
So, to anyone who’s successfully gotten the authorization, could you tell me which address you used to get that "elusive" approval?...

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

Paper documents might not be accepted.

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

Is a train/bus ticket to Vietnam sufficient?
