Mon mari postule pour un travail à Segou. Nous sommes donc une petite famille avec un bébé.
Je cherche toutes sortes d'infos pratiques sur cette ville ; si possible de personnes y ayant vécu.
Est-elle agréable à vivre ? Pollution ? Quartiers agréables ? Problèmes ? Quels loyers pour quel confort ?
Est-il possible de vivre dans un lieu calme tout en étant dans la ville ?
Le pallu est un plus gros problème que ailleurs au Mali ?
Existe t-il une pollution des sols ou de l'eau par l'agriculture ? (j'ai lu que toute la région bénéficiait d'une agriculture intensive et de plusieurs industries)
J'imagine qu'on vit bien avec un contrat français : 1200 euros net ?
Moi comme mon mari ne sommes pas des "citadins" ; et apprécions la nature et le calme...et nous aspirons entre autre à vivre dans un environnement sain et pas pollué...
Segou est une grande ville...et c'est pourquoi j'hésite un peu à suivre mon mari dans ce projet ?
Segou est une petite ville du Mali, meme si elle doit etre pas loin des 200 000 habitants, au final ici cela fait petit. Agreable car ventée et au bord du fleuve, c est une des villes sympas et certainement bien a vivre. Si vous n etes pas des amoureux de la ville, je pense que vous vous y sentirez bien car c est vraiment provincial dans le bon sens du terme.
Pas de probleme de pollution des sols ou des eaux plus que cela a ma connaissance, l agri intensive du coin est encore tres tres extensive par rapport a la notre : prix des engrais et des pesticides tres elevés pour les agri locaux. En gros on mange bio sans le vouloi particulierement car tt est quasi bio. Conditions hygiéniques pas tjrs parfaites malgre tt mais bon en lavant bien et en cuisant bien, peu de raisons d avoir des ennuis.
Si 1200euros net, vie OK mais sans plus, la vie est tt de meme assez chere a partir du moment ou on garde certaines habitudes de toubabou. Les loyers sur Segou, je ne sais pas, mais ce qui est cher c est surtt l electricité de saison chaude (de mars a juin grosso modo - compter plus 100 fcfa) quand la temperature reste autour des 40°. C est aussi a ce moment que la vie est la plus difficile.
Pas grand chose a faire si on aime les sorties mais bcp de choses si on aime bien se ballader et decouvrir la culture et le pays. Proximité de Niono et sa mosquée ainsi que du perimetre irrigué Office du Niger, belles rizieres, a Segou belle vieille ville, Djenné et Mopti a qq centaines de kms, pas loin non plus Teryia Bugu, un hotel tres sympa dans un coin paumé qui fait du tourisme durable...
Poussiere, saleté et surpop bcp moins problématiques et en tous les cas loin des désagréments de Bamako.
Bon, ça me rassure que ça trafique pas trop...on pourrait pas vivre dans une grande ville, c'est pas notre truc...On a un ptit (14 mois) qu'on aimerai bien laisser vadrouiller en toute tranquillité.
Concernant les conditions sanitaires, on sait à quoi s'attendre, alors pas de souci à ce niveau là.
Ce que j'entends par vivre bien, c'est surtout pourvoir louer une maison avec eau et électricité, faire garder mon ptit (je suis infirmière, donc je pourrai sans doute donner un coup de main quelque part), rentrer en France 2 fois par an. Et puis on (mon mari tout seul) descendrai en voiture, ...
Ce projet est lié à l'opportunité d'un poste très intéressant pour mon mari, à notre intérêt pour l'Afrique ; mais aussi au fait qu'on aspire à une vie simple...peut-être une éducation différente pour notre enfant, moins sous pression de la société de consomation et de compétition...
J'ai vu que le point afrique faisait des vols sur mopti, et il y avait des grosses promo en dernière minute (moins de 90 euros l'aller) ; ça arrive souvent ?

J'ai vécu à Ségou pendant 5 ans et y retourne de temps en temps.
Ségou est la ville la plus agréable à vivre au Mali.
Il y a de nombreuses balades à faire tout autour de Ségou ausi bien le long du fleuve qu'en brousse.
Les gens y sont sympas. Bien sûr à condition de s'ouvrir aux autres, et alors tout devient facile.
Il faut se protéger du pallu en dormant sous la moustiquaire et prendre ses médicaments régulièrement.
L'eau du robinet est bonne et potable.
Le loyer peut varier de 150 000 FCFA à 175 000 FCFA pour une maion vide, et de 200 000 FCFA à 300 000 FCFA pour une maison meublée ( hors charges mais bénéficiant de l'électricité, de l'eau courante, ventilée ...)
Je connais une personne qui loue une maison très bien située pas loin du fleuve et du centre ville tout en étant dans un quartier très calme, aéré...
Pour vivre à Ségou 1200 euros ce n'est pas trop mais ça passe, surtout si l'on veut conserver quelques habitudes françaises (alimentation, carburant...)

La ville et la région de Ségou, je le confirme, est très agréable. Le Fleuve Niger y est pour quelque chose et les gens aussi bien entendu. Ce n'est pas du tout, pour nous européen, une grande ville. C'est la deuxième fois que je descends d'Ardèche (moi aussi...) pour me rendre en Afrique de l'Ouest et à chaque fois 3 mois environ et je reste toujours un peu de temps dans cette ville.
Difficile ici d'en parler longuement, mais même si nous sommes dans un département très grand ou les km sont parfois un peu long à faire. Nous pourrions en parler de vive voix, contactez-moi en MP. Je suis dans le sud de l'Ardèche en limite du Gard
