Hi everyone, We’re going on a Nile cruise. My question: We’re taking off from Brussels Airport to land in Cairo. Then we have to catch a second flight to Luxor. How does that work—do we pick up our luggage, do we have to exit and then re-enter the airport? Thanks for your help, tips, and advice, etc.…

Hi everyone, If it's the same airline for the domestic flight, you don’t need to collect your bags—so, for example, if EgyptAir flies you to Cairo and then on to Luxor, no problem, it’ll follow through. But if it’s a different airline, you’ll have to collect them. Also, double-check the flight details—everything should be listed there. Plus, you’ll normally need to get your visas in Cairo. I did say *normally* because if it’s the same airline, it’s always at the final destination, but since you’ll have to switch terminals to get to the domestic flights terminal, you’ll most likely need to get your visas in Cairo. Hi, thanks for your message! We’re indeed leaving from Brussels with Egytair. That reassures us about the luggage and all that... As for visas, we’ll look into it. Anyway, thanks a bunch for your message! Pilot Dario

Hello! 😊 What a wonderful plan—a Nile cruise is truly magical! For your connection: it all depends on whether your flights are on the same ticket or two separate tickets. Generally, if everything is booked together (Brussels → Cairo → Luxor), your luggage will be checked straight through to Luxor, and you won’t need to collect it in Cairo. When you arrive in Cairo, just follow the "Transit/Connections" signs. However, if the tickets are separate, you’ll need to:

go through immigration collect your luggage exit the secure area recheck your bags for the flight to Luxor

A little tip: double-check your booking or call the airline to confirm—this avoids stress. The easiest way is to see what’s written on your flight confirmation: “baggage checked to final destination.” Do the same with your luggage tags in Brussels. And most importantly, allow some extra time between the two flights—since you’ll need to change terminals.

Wishing you a fantastic cruise!

Hello everyone, As mentioned earlier, this should be written on your bookings—you should have Brussels-Cairo-Luxor. If they’re two separate tickets (though I don’t see why they would be if you made the request), you’ll need to collect your luggage. No need to panic—just check your documents; it should all be indicated there. It’s not possible otherwise. For the visa, as mentioned before, since you’ll be changing terminals, you can get it in Cairo (when it’s a direct flight, like we always do, our visas are in Luxor). For visas, if you’re using a passport, you know everything is processed through it. The following is for ID cards: one photo (though you might want two, kept in different places in case of loss—just not in your luggage, as you won’t have access to it before clearing customs). In any case, you’ll need to head to the currency exchange counters (pay in €, and they’ll give you change) in the customs hall. You’ll have to fill out the yellow immigration card, where they’ll attach the photo and the fiscal stamp (that’s the visa), then the customs stamp. The process is the same for passports—after collecting your luggage, there’s another check. Important: Both ID cards and passports must still be valid for six months after your return date. Hi, I sent you a message on March 12, 2025. Should’ve read it... ended up going to Hurghada instead of Kusadası. Thanks,
