Nous partons en famille aux Acores pour 16 j pleins sur les îles. J'ai choisi de visiter Sao Jorge et Pico et une 3ème île. Pour cette dernière, j'hésite beaucoup entre rester sur le triangle central et visiter Faial ou bien de pousser jusque Florès sachant que je ne pense pas retourner une seconde fois aux Acores ensuite. Des connaisseurs peuvent-ils me conseiller ? Merci d'avance.
Faial est évidemment la solution de facilité : 30 min de bateau depuis Pico et 5 ou liaisons journalières dans les deux sens. C'est une jolie île et Horta, la capitale, est une petite ville vivante et animée. C'est un lieu de passage obligé pour les navigateurs du monde entier.
Si vous choisissez Flores, la Sata n'organise pas de vols à partir de Pico ou de Sao Jorge. Il vous faudra donc passer par Faial ou par Terceira pour joindre l'île. Par contre, beaucoup de gens estiment que c'est la plus belle île des Açores : très verdoyante et fleurie et pas trop de touristes.
C'est à vous de voir; c'est une question de choix personnel, évidemment plus difficile à faire si vous ne pensez pas retourner aux Açores. Mais moi, je vous dis que si vous allez une fois aux Açores, vous aurez très certainement envie d'y retourner ! 🙂
Comme beaucoup sur ce forum, je vais avoir du mal à me décider. Que pensez vous suite à votre réponse d'aller à Florès en passant donc un voire deux jours à Faial (Horta a l'air effectivement sympa). Il faudrait que réduise d'un jour à Pico ou Sao Jorge. Ca ferait 5j Sao Jorge, 4j Pico, 2j Faial, 5j Florès. Je vais repotasser guides et forums mais si d'autres acceptent de me faire part de leur avis, je suis preneur !
Si vous le pouvez tenter effectivement d'aller sur Flores car cela semblait être le coup de cœur des voyageurs rencontrées sur place. Nous avons de notre côté visité et beaucoup aimé Pico, Sao Jorge et Faial. Mais, nous avons regretté de ne pas être allés à Flores ... Nous restions 10 jours, c'était trop court, néanmoins sur un séjour de 16 jours, c'est possible. Par contre, ne terminez pas par Flores car si vous avez un souci de retard de transport (c'est courant), cela va être compliqué Gardez Faial pour la fin surtout si vous repartez de là. 5 jours sur Sao Jorge me semble long. 4 jours serait mieux et 5 jours sur Pico.
Le conseil d’Annachris est tout à fait judicieux. Si vous décidez de visiter 4 îles, ce qui est tout à fait faisable en 16 jours, il vaut effectivement mieux ne pas terminer par Flores. Les liaisons inter-îles, quand elles se font avec des petits avions (genre Bombardier Q200, par exemple), peuvent être perturbées par les conditions météo, même en été. Lors d’un des mes voyages, en début septembre, il était prévu de visiter Sao Miguel, Sao Jorge, Pico et Faial. Mais nous n’avons pas pu atterrir à Sao Jorge en raison de la météo et nous nous sommes posés à Terceira, ce qui n’était pas prévu. Mais le représentant local de l’agence de voyages (Melo) s’est parfaitement débrouillé et finalement, ce séjour imprévu à Terceira fut bien agréable. La suite du voyage, à Pico et Faial, s’est déroulée sans histoires.
Personnellement, je passerais un jour de moins à Sao Jorge et un de plus à Faial.
Si vous allez à Flores, il est possible de faire une excursion d’une journée à Corvo, l’île voisine et la plus petite des Açores, un véritable bout du monde !

Je vais donc suivre vos conseils en réduisant Sao Jorge d'un jour, augmenter Faial d'un, faire Pico comme prévu et prévoir donc Flores (et du coup certainement une journée à l'ouest de l'ouest à Corvo !). Tout cela sans finir par Florès pour ne pas risquer un éventuel prolongement non souhaité !
J'ai eu un peu de mal à choisir les Açores comme destination (beaucoup d'hésitation avec Madère) mais désormais j'ai hâte d'y poser les pieds en juillet !
Je ne connais pas Madère (j'espère y aller un jour), mais les Açores sont vraiment très dépaysantes et je t'envie vraiment d'aller à Florès 😄 Surtout, ne loupe pas une sortie de whale watching à Pico ou Faial... Un de mes plus beaux souvenirs, et en plus l'observation des cachalots et dauphins se fait de manière très respectueuse ... Ces îles perdus au milieu de l'océan sont tout simplement étonnantes et très reposantes ...
De la Macaronésie, je ne connais que les Açores et les Canaries. (Il faut bien étaler un peu sa culture 🙂 ! La Macaronésie, c’est l’ensemble des archipels des Açores, de Madère, des Canaries et du Cap vert. J’adore l’air ahuri des gens quand tu leur dis : « Cette année, je suis allé en Macaronésie ! »😉 🙂). Je n’ai pas encore visité Madère non plus et je dois dire que cela m’a déjà tenté mais Madère avec Porto Santo, c’est 800 km² qui reçoivent 1.200.000 touristes par an. Les Açores, c’est 2.340 km², donc trois fois plus grand, pour 400.000 touristes par an (peut-être un peu plus depuis l’arrivée des low-cost). Conclusion : ce n’est pas encore l’invasion comme à Madère. A ce point de vue, le climat plus capricieux des Açores doit être vu comme un avantage : il protège l’archipel d’une invasion touristique massive, comme à Madère ou aux Canaries.
Des îles tout à fait reposantes, comme tu dis ! J'y suis déjà allé 4 fois et j'ai toujours envie d'y retourner !
Il paraît que les touristes commencent à affluer aux Açores avec la fin du monopole de la SATAS, et l'arrivée des compagnies à bas prix !
C'est vrai que le temps peut être pourri (l'été 2014, nous avons eu des pluies diluviennes pendant plusieurs jours nous rendant toute randonnée impossible 🤪) mais il ne fait jamais froid, et ça c'est vraiment appréciable.
Oui je prévois bien une sortie baleines et dauphins. Avec quel organisme l'as tu faite ? Est-il vraiment possible de faire du snorkeling aux Açores ? Je n'ai rien trouvé de précis sur le forum ni ailleurs, juste des affirmations que l'on peut en faire.... Bien sûr, je ne m'attends pas à un lagon mais peut-on pratiquer sans craindre le courant et voir malgré tout des choses intéressantes ?
Nous avons effectué la sortie sur Pico avec Espaco Talassa. On nous a d'abord présenté un petit film avant de sortir en mer. Malgré un temps pourri où l'équipe nous a prévenu que nous avions peu de chances de voir quoique ce soit (et nous a proposé un remboursement), nous avons assisté à un festival de cétacés : baleines à bec, dauphins tachetés, dauphins risso ... Ma fille et moi avons tellement adoré ces moments que nous avons refait une nouvelle sortie sur Faial cette fois sous le soleil (mais je ne me souviens pas du nom de l'agence ... j'avais demandé à Espaco Talassa), et là nous avons vu des cachalots en plus de centaines de dauphins !! Un rêve éveillé !
Concernant le snorkelling, on peut voir des poissons dans les piscines naturelles qui sont abritées du vent et de la houle. C'est plutôt sympa mais la visibilité est assez moyenne. Nous avons fait peu de baignades en dehors de ces piscines, car l'océan était agité. Nous n'avons malheureusement pas eu de chance avec la météo. C'était toutefois exceptionnel !

Hélas, hélas ! C'est vrai ! 🙁 Depuis l'arrivée des low cost, le nombre de touristes a augmenté.
Je suis allé à Sao Miguel en 2015 puis en 2016, au même endroit, à la même période. Et c'est vrai que l'an dernier, j'ai eu le sentiment qu'il y avait nettement plus de touristes qu'en 2015. Mais pas de panique, cela reste encore du domaine du raisonnable (et j'espère vraiment que cela continuera à rester ainsi ! ). Et il y a des disparités d'une île à l'autre. D'après les statistiques que j'ai pu consulter, c'est l'île de Terceira qui a connu la plus grosse augmentation. Le nombre de touristes y a quasiment doublé. Par contre, des îles comme Sao Jorge, Graciosa ou Flores n'ont pas connu d'augmentation vraiment sensible.
Je viens de lire tous vos messages concernant les Açores. J'espère y aller cet été pour une durée équivalente à la vôtre ... Finalement, pouvez-vous me dire comment vous avez organisé votre séjour ? Dans quel ordre avez-vous visité les îles, combien de jours sur chacune ? Tous les renseignements pratiques m'intéressent ....

J14 : avion Faïal- Florès
J15-J18 : Florès avec départ bateau pour Corvo fin après-midi J18
J19 : Corvo
J20 : matin bateau pour Florès et avion pour Faïal
J21-J24 : Faïal avec avion pour Lisbonne à midi J24
J25 : Lisbonne Paris.
L'ordre optimal des îles dépend à mon avis de ce que vous recherchez. En ce qui nous concerne, on aime bien ce qui est sauvage, peu couru donc on a commencé par deux îles du triangle (Pico où un avion peut arriver direct de Lisbonne puis Sao Jorge) puis on a été faire le groupe occidental (pour aller crescendo), qui nous a vraiment plu (Corvo vaut le détour à mon avis, ambiance particulière et beau paysage si le temps est clément). Puis on a fini sur FaÏal, un peu plus courue pour éviter de louper l'avion pour Lisbonne en cas de problème au retour de Florès et craignant un peu la fatigue.
Cette organisation nous a donné grande satisfaction.Séjours dans chaque île pas trop court (même si on y serait bien resté deux jours de plus à chaque fois...)et diversité des îles visitées. Prendre les billets d'avion tôt permet d'optimiser le temps des trajets inter îles ce qui m'apparaît important pour éviter l'impression de transit (nous l'avons ressentie un peu lors de notre transfert Sao Jorge pour Florès où l'on devait passer une nuit à Faïal et surtout au retour de Florès où n'ayant pas eu d'avion direct nous avons passé 3 ou 4h dans l'aéroport à Terceira). Penser aussi à réserver tôt le bateau pour Corvo car il n'y a que 12 places et des annulations si le temps est mauvais.
Si vous trouvez un vol et des prix corrects, vous pouvez aussi essayer de revenir direct en avion de Corvo vers une autre île, l'aller depuis Florès en petit bateau étant sympa.
Toutes les îles étaient vraiment différentes. Notre préférée : Florès puis Corvo et/ou Pico puis Sao Jorge/Faïal, la météo y ayant été un peu moins bonne mais correcte malgré tout.
Je peux vous envoyer notre feuille de route détaillée si vous le souhaitez. Il suffit de me l'indiquer.
On a loué une voiture dans chaque île sauf Corvo bien sûr. Florès peut se faire en taxi, ça doit revenir un peu moins cher.
Des îles vraiment à l'écart du tourisme de masse...

Nous avions tout réservé à l'avance car en famille à 5 et en juillet. C'est un peu contraignant d'un côté mais plus confortable d'un autre.
On a dormi en gîtes ou location trouvées sur internet pas toujours les mieux question rapport qualité prix car on a réservé un peu tard entre le 15 mars et le 30 avril environ. Les trajets en bateaux entre îles du triangle ne sont pas forcément à réserver aussi tôt car les bateaux sont plus grands à beaucoup plus grands.
N'hésitez pas si vous avez d'autres questions !

Nous voulions faire les îles du triangle plus le groupe occidental. Pour optimiser les trajets avec les places disponibles en avion au moment des résas, c'est ce qu'il y avait de mieux. Pour aller à Florès depuis les îles du triangles, il faut de toutes façons passer par Faïal. Pico ou Sao Jorge ne desservent pas Florès directement me semble t'il. Je ne comprends donc pas votre remarque telle qu'elle est formulée.
J'avais compris que vous souhaitez "visiter Faial ou Flores" comme l'indique le titre du post.
Faial est à une demi heure de bateau de Pico que je connais bien d'où ma réponse relative aux coûts induits d'un voyage à Flores par rapport à Pico.

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?
- Is the road through the narrow valley of the White Lütschine toward Lauterbrunnen and beyond still worth it in terms of views and scenery?
On the way back, if we have a little time to explore Bern’s historic old town, what’s the best parking plan for a 1- or 2-hour stop?

I’ve found some great deals on flights to two destinations: Menorca in the Balearic Islands and Alghero in Sardinia.
The flights would take us from Bordeaux to Menorca on the evening of 9/07 and return to Bordeaux in the evening on 13/07.
Or to Alghero very early on 10/07 (departure at 6 AM) and return in the mid-afternoon on 13/07.
We love beautiful landscapes, the sea, snorkeling, walks (hiking), and the charm of villages.
We want to spend some quality time as a couple without our kids and mix discovery with relaxation.
I can’t make up my mind. The transport costs are roughly the same when you factor in parking for Sardinia since the early departure means no public transport from home.
We’ve never been to Menorca, Sardinia, or Italy at all. I’ve been to Majorca, though.
Menorca would be 4 nights and 4 days, while Alghero would be 3 nights and 2.5 days.
Also, what itinerary would you recommend for Alghero and Menorca?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
We’re a group of 4 heading out at the end of June for 11 days.
I’m just starting my research.
We’ll be renting a regular car, not a 4x4.
I’m not finding a ton of info on the North.
Would love your take on all those kilometers—is there a route that lets us cut out a section?
