Bonjour, je voudrais organiser rapidement mon prochain et premier voyage en Thaïlande et Laos, et j'ai vu que les conditions d'obtention du visa thaï se sont durcies depuis juin dernier, avec notamment un passage compliqué par un pré-dossier en ligne et une prise de rendez-vous. Et en ce moment l'ambassade de Thaïlande à Paris est surchargée donc l'obtention du visa peut prendre plusieurs semaines. C'est pourquoi, je voudrais vous faire confirmer ici la possibilité pour moi d'utiliser l'exemption de visa.
Quelques détails préalables : J'ai 68 ans, retraitée, ce sera mon premier voyage en Thaïlande (j'ai beaucoup voyagé en Asie en été, maintenant je peux aller en Thaïlande hors mousson). J'ai l'intention de partir plusieurs mois, au moins trois mois, peut-être 4 ou 5, en partant si possible début décembre car après les tarifs d'avion augmentent beaucoup. Donc je n'ai plus le temps matériel de faire un visa thaï de 60 jours avant mon départ.
J'envisage la solution suivante, est-elle possible ?
1. J'achète un billet AR pour la Thaïlande début décembre - début avril, soit 4 mois + un billet avion de Bangkok vers Vientiane ou Luang Prabang pour une date 30 jours après mon arrivée en Thaïlande.
2. Je reçois une exemption de visa de 30 jours à mon arrivée à Bangkok.
3. 29 ou 30 jours après je passe de Thaïlande au Laos. Puis-je le faire par voie terrestre en abandonnant mon vol Thaïlande - Laos ? Car si je suis au nord de la Thaïlande par exemple, je trouve dommage de revenir à Bangkok pour prendre mon vol. En plus les bagages coûtent davantage et sont plus pénibles à faire par avion, sans parler de l'aspect écologique.
4. Au Laos où je passerai 4 semaines, j'essaierai d'obtenir un visa thaï de 60 jours. Je sais que la durée d'obtention sera bien plus courte qu'à Paris, 2 ou 3 jours. Mais je peux avoir des problèmes s'il demandent une attestation bancaire récente (elle aura plus d'un mois) pour prouver ma solvabilité et s'ils demandent d'être résidente au Laos. Je suppose aussi que je devrai à nouveau avoir un billet d'avion Laos-Thaïlande, alors que je préférerais traverser le Laos de Nord au Sud ou vice versa et repasser en Thaïlande par voie terrestre.
5. Si j'obtiens ce visa, puis-je entrer en Thaïlande par voie terrestre ou dois-je respecter ce que j'aurai écrit sur ma demande de visa, c'est-à-dire une entrée par l'aéroport de Bangkok ?
6. Si je n'obtiens pas le visa ou que je ne le demande pas, je suppose que je peux ré-entrer en Thaïlande par voie terrestre avec une deuxième exemption de visa de 30 jours (mais la 1e par voie terrestre), mais il me faudra à nouveau acheter un billet d'avion inutile de sortie de Thaïlande parce que le mien serait deux mois après. Et je devrai faire une prolongation un mois après. Est-elle possible seulement à Bangkok et peut-on la faire à n'importe quel moment pendant les 30 jours, ou faut-il attendre la fin de la période de 30 jours ?
Je n'ai pas encore acheté mon billet d'avion à cause de ces problèmes de visa. Cela fait plus de 15 jours que j'hésite en raison des variations de climat, de prix de billet d'avion et de problèmes de visa. Merci aux forumistes qui ont des expériences récentes. Je sais qu'avant les entrées-sorties de Thaïlande et les visas et exemptions de visas étaient beaucoup plus faciles à obtenir, mais ce n'est plus le cas. Je suis une vieille dame et je ne veux pas jouer au poker à une frontière terrestre, en espérant que mon aspect physique plaidera en ma faveur, je veux être dans l'absolue légalité et être sûre de passer sans problème. Je précise que je n'ai pas l'intention de prendre ma retraite en Thaïlande, le monde est grand et il ne me reste plus tant d'années pour connaître ou revoir tous les pays qui m'intéressent. Dernière précision, mes buts principaux dans ce voyage sont le snorkeling et les sites historiques. J'aime aussi la nature mais ne peux plus vraiment faire de trekking.
Mon précédent long voyage a été de 3 mois ce printemps à Taïwan et Philippines, nettement plus facile à organiser pour les visas.
Merci d'avance à ceux qui prendront le temps de me répondre. J'ai cherché sur VF, site d'ambassade et agences de visas, mais n'ai pas trouvé de réponse récente à mes nombreuses questions.
Pour le point 3., la réponse est oui, on peut passer de Thaïlande au Laos par voie terrestre sans utiliser son billet d'avion , ce billet n'étant que pour ne pas être bloqué par la compagnie à l'embarquement en France.
Pour le point 4, je ne connais pas les conditions pour un visa thaï à Vientiane , quelqu'un d'autre saura sans doute vous guider. Par contre, si vous passez du Laos en Thaïlande par voie terrestre, en théorie, il faut un billet de sortie de Thaïlande pour avoir les 30 jours d'exemption, en pratique, ils ( l'immigration thaï ) ne demandent rien. Le problème se pose lorsqu'on passe du Laos ( ou un autre pays) en Thaïlande par avion et c'est à l'embarquement( la compagnie aérienne peut bloquer ) . Si donc, vous n'obtenez pas de visa à Vientiane, vous pouvez repasser le Mékhong et obtenir de nouveau 30 jours sans avoir à acheter de billet d'avion.
Pour les questions de prolongation de visa, je ne sais pas, donc je joue mon joker, quelqu'un d'autre saura.
Je rajoute : par voie terrestre, on a droit à deux exemptions de visa de 30 jours chacune, par voie aérienne autant qu'on veut mais le total des séjours ne doit pas dépasser 90 jours pour une période de 6 mois ( donc votre voyage ).
Voilà, j'espère vous avoir éclairée un peu , bravo pour vos carnets de voyage, en particulier sur la Chine, j'ai relu le passage sur la parc de Zhangjiajie avant de le visiter l'été dernier; avec ma femme, nous partons nous aussi en Thaïlande( ma deuxième patrie car j'y ai vécu de 1978 à 1985 puis retourné régulièrement ) de décembre à mars; ma femme ayant la double nationalité, pas de problème pour elle; en ce qui me concerne, pour éviter de demander un visa, je sortirai deux fois vers la Birmanie.
l'article est de 2015 mais je suppose qu'il est toujours valable avec un lien sur une carte google des centres d'immigration, il y en a un peu partout.
Enfin, pour revenir à votre projet, à partir de mars mais surtout en avril, dans le nord et le nord est de la Thaïlande, la chaleur est intense dans la journée; les taux de pollution peuvent de temps à autre monter très haut dans des villes comme Chiang Maï et même dans les campagnes en raison de feux allumés pour défricher malgré les interdictions officielles, les fumées venues des pays voisins ( Laos, Birmanie ) et dues aux mêmes causes amplifient le phénomène, tout cela pour vous conseiller de visiter ces régions au début et d'aller plutôt vers le sud et les plages ensuite; le sud d'ailleurs est lui pollué en septembre, octobre par les fumées d'Indonésie; mais ne zappez pas le nord pour autant( je défend ma paroisse, enfin celle de ma femme ); outre Chiang Maï , il y a des provinces à l'écart telles que Nan ou Phrae avec de petites merveilles telles que le Wat Phumin et ses fresques en plein centre de la ville de Nan.
Nous voulons acheter un billet d'avion aller-retour de la France pour Bangkok pour 2 mois. Arrivés en Thaïlande, nous y resterons moins de 30 jours donc…

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?
