Le principe est assez simple mais génial : vous travaillez dans une ferme (utilisant en principe des méthodes biologiques) 4 ou 5 heures par jour et en échange vous êtes nourris, logés, blanchis !
Il suffit de s'inscrire sur internet (www.wwoof.com.au) et de payer quelques dollars pour obtenir un livre avec les adresses des personnes désirant recevoir des wwoofers.
Ce qui est vraiment bien avec ce système c'est que vous vivez vraiment comme les gens du pays où vous êtes et non comme un simple touriste et ce fut excellent pour améliorer mon anglais !
De plus celà vous permet de rencontrer d'autres wwoofers de tous les horizons !
Je n'ai pas eu réellement de mauvaise expérience en tant que wwoofer bien qu'il est vrai que parfois on s'ennuie un peu... car les fermes sont rarement très proches des villes. Parfois les transports publics sont proches ou des vélos sont à disposition des wwoofers... mais croyez moi revenir de sortie de boite à 7 heures du matin à vélo n'est pas toujours facile...
En tout cas cette expérience m'a permis d'apprendre un tas de choses et de rencontrer de nombreuses personnes très sympas.

Je fais peut être erreur mais je ne pense pas que la culture de la vanille soit très répendue en Australie.
Les cultures principales sont la bananes (on appelle d'ailleurs les habitants du Queensland les banana benders !), la mangue, la cacahuète et la vigne bien sûr. Il me semble qu'on y cultive beaucoup d'ananas aussi (?)
Dans les fermes où je suis allé il s'agissait surtout d'élevage d'animaux (bovins, ovins, lamas...) où de culture de plantes et de fleurs exotiques (palmiers, bambous, héliconias, gingembre...). Il y avait quelques fruits comme les fruits de la passion mais juste pour le fun.
Le mieux est de poser directement la question à Wwoof Australia.

Moi j'ai fait avec le bouquin du wwoofing en Australie, et avec helpx en Nouvelle Zélande, c'est à peu près pareil! (Y a ptet une assurance incluse avec la commande du bouquin du wwoof, si je ne me trompe pas. Et parfois sur helpx on trouve du volontariat hors fermes, type dans des galeries d'art j'avais déjà vu...).
En tout cas moi j'ai fait du wwoofing, en tant que "nana toute seule", et je vous conseille ce type d'expériences!
Et c'est vrai que l'australie et la NZ, c'est méga safe...
Le Wwoofing en australie est un excellent moyen de progresser en anglais et de faire de belles rencontres... De retour d'un an à faire le tour avec un camper-van j'ai qu'une envie c'est de retourné voire mes hôtes qui sont devenus des amis. Ok il faut acheter le livre avant de partir (on peut en trouver d'occasion mais pas actualisé). un conseil lors du premier appel il ne faut pas hésitez a demander des renseignements: la durée et quels types de taches sont prévues ainsi que la situation géographique (il ne peut rien y avoir autour). Personnellement un intitulé "P" sur le livre signifiant "permaculture" m'a permis une bonne présélection.

Oui, c'est possible de faire du wwoofing en couple voire à plusieurs.
En général, dans le livre du WWOOF les conditions (dont le nombre de personnes pouvant être accueillies en même temps) sont spécifiées.
Bien-sûr, en couple c'est possible, achètes le guide du wwoofing du pays en question et tu verras que pour chaque lieu il y une description avec, entre autre, le nombre de wwoofers acceptés.

I’ve decided to return and settle in Cameroon, my home country.
