Climate and weather in Sliema
The local climate is strongly influenced by the sea, with mild temperatures year-round and particularly high sunshine levels, even in winter when the sun shines for an average of five or six hours a day. In short, it never gets cold in winter (average 15°C), though the weather can be a bit windy and rainy, as is often the case at the end of the year. In summer, sea breezes ease the heat, especially in July and August, the hottest months, when temperatures can exceed 30°C.
Sea temperature throughout the year
The sea starts to become pleasant from April to May and remains so until almost the second half of autumn. In winter, while the Mediterranean is far from freezing, cool northerly winds lower both air and water temperatures.
