Alright, thanks so much! I think I’ll get back to you about the deposit to celebrate the wedding and all that. We’re planning to do it at Lomé town hall, so thanks again!

No problem, if I can help you I’d be happy to. Having gone through it myself, I know you’ve got quite a few questions and that embassies, town halls, and others don’t give much info.

Hi Benoît, My fiancé is Togolese, and we're right in the middle of applying for the CCAM... For the French nationality proof section, do I need to provide all the documents listed, or are they just examples of what can be used? Is an ID card enough? Same question for proof of residence—what’s required? Thanks in advance for your help!
BE Beniap ·
good evening Yes, you need to provide all the documents requested on the CCAM list. Proof of address, a copy of your EDF subscription contract will work just fine. For proof of French nationality, a copy of your ID card is sufficient. Don’t hesitate to ask if you need any help. Best regards

Thanks! It was about the proof of residence and identity documents that I had doubts, so this reassures me! The first step is almost ready to be sent off! We’ve allowed for a 4-month delay once the application is submitted—I hope that’s enough!
BE Beniap ·
Hello, Yes, if there are no issues with your application, you should receive a response within about 4 months. Don’t forget that we’re still in a COVID period, and to help others who are in the same process, the embassy has announced delays in processing applications. Don’t wait for the return of the registered mail after sending your documents—the embassy doesn’t send it back. Best regards

Hi there, I’m now at the stage of gathering the documents requested by the Lomé city hall. They’re asking for a certificate of single status—does anyone know where I can get this online? All the info out there seems different. Thanks in advance!
GA Gabrielle090 ·
Normally, you don’t need to provide a certificate of single status—the CCAM serves as proof for the French national.
MM Mmlydn ·
Hi, In the file for the town hall, they’re asking us for the original marriage capacity certificate?! But I saw we also need it for the transcription, right?! How did you all handle this?
GA Gabrielle090 ·
I didn’t do it, but they don’t usually keep your original.
MM Mmlydn ·
That’s what I thought, but yesterday my fiancé went to the town hall and they told him they were keeping it?!...

Hi there,

Is anyone currently going through the process to obtain the "certificat de capacité à mariage" and have any updates on how the COVID crisis has extended processing times?

We submitted our application in early June and haven’t heard anything yet. The embassy’s website says not to send follow-up letters, so how can we check on our file’s status or find out if there are any hold-ups?

For those who’ve been through this step: how does the consulate get back in touch after you’ve sent your application? By mail? Email?

Are there any interviews with the consulate required?

Thanks for your help!

hi, I went through these steps last year. I sent the CCAM file in mid-March, and even though I had to resend a missing document, I got the response in mid-June. You should count on between 3 and 4 months. Right now, I can't tell you if the delays have been extended due to COVID. The embassy won't tell you where your file stands unless documents are missing.

You'll receive the CCAM acceptance document from the embassy by mail.

I know it's tough when you're waiting and have no news, but you have to be patient.

A friend I'm helping with the same process left for Lomé last Friday. He's going to submit his CCAM file directly to the embassy. If I get any updates on the timeline, I'll let you know.

If you have any other questions about the steps (CCAM, wedding, transcription), don't hesitate to contact me—I'll try to guide you as best I can.

Best regards, Benoit

Hi there, I sent my file in January and received a copy of my CCAM by email in early August, then the original CCAM by post. For my part, I contacted them by email via the embassy's website—they replied afterward, even though I’d received the automatic email asking us not to contact them again.
RD Rdcm ·
Thanks so much for your replies! With the Covid period, I think it's best to allow 6 months to get the CCAM.

In the meantime, I received an email from the consulate asking for a full copy of my passport (does that mean all pages, even the visa ones??) and those of my birth certificate. It's strange because I had attached these documents to the file.

Luckily, we planned a very flexible wedding date, so we won’t be held back by the extended delays.

One last question: is there an in-person appointment at the consulate in Lomé at any point during the process?

Thanks for your answers—it’s great to be able to exchange with people who know these realities!

hi, it can happen that they ask to hear the future spouses, your partner at the consulate following a summons, and you at your place of residence. This mainly happens if they have doubts about a sham marriage for papers. Regarding the passport copy, yes, it's indeed all the pages, especially the visa ones—it's to verify that you actually traveled to Togo. Best regards, Benoit.

So for the first one: - They will give you the original of the certified copy of form n°1 (it will be handwritten). It will already be a certified and legalized copy, which is why you must not send a copy of this document but the original they will issue you. For the second one: - It’s the same document, but they will give it to you typed (that’s the difference). For the third one: - It’s indeed the document they have at birth, form n°4 at the town hall. They will make you a certified copy (stamped and dated). So you provide the originals of the documents issued by the town hall. I hope I’m being clear enough

Hi, I’m reviving this thread—I’m currently applying for a CCAM in Lomé, and the embassy is asking for form 4 or 5. However, I can’t get it back; my family no longer has it. What can I do?

Thanks
