ESTA: Contact Address in the USA

Hi there,

A few weeks ago, my partner and I filled out the ESTA form, entering the address of a hotel in Chicago as our contact address in the USA since that was our planned destination. But in the meantime, we changed our minds about where we’re going in the States—we’ll be heading to California instead.

Will this be an issue when we arrive in the US? Or do they honestly not really care?

Thanks for your replies!

No, it’s absolutely not a problem. This address can’t be changed, and when you return to the US for another trip in a different region/state, this same address will still appear—but it doesn’t cause any issues with immigration, even if the address is in New York and you’re landing at Los Angeles airport! No worries🙂

Hi Caussat,

That’s what I thought. Thanks so much for confirming! 😊

Have a great day!

Hi there,

A few weeks ago, my partner and I filled out the ESTA form, entering the address of a hotel in Chicago as our U.S. contact address since that’s where we were originally planning to go. But we’ve since changed our minds about our U.S. destination and will be heading to California instead.

Will this be an issue when we arrive in the States? Or do they not really care in practice?

Thanks for your replies.

Hi, This information isn’t important and can even be updated if you go back to the official site to check your ESTA application.

Thanks Roadtrippin0 for your message. I thought you couldn’t modify the ESTA request once it had been approved. I’ll look into that!

When you don’t know this info or know it’s going to change, just put UNKNOWN in the field

Yeah, you can just put "unknown" if you don’t know the contact address in the U.S. This part of the ESTA form is so dumb and pointless 😩

Hi,

You can change the hotel address anytime. Just log back into your ESTA.

Hey Usafan,

Yeah, I’ve already been told that I can edit that part of the ESTA application, but I haven’t done it yet. Thanks anyway! 😊

No worries. There’s a total USA fan in La Ciotat. She has an Insta page: Les_states_et_moi

If you need info, especially about the West, don’t hesitate. 17 road trips in the US here ;)

It's funny because I already stumbled upon that Instagram page by chance, but I didn't know it was created by a fellow citizen. Last time I went to the US was in 2010. Back then, the ESTA form was much simpler and quicker to fill out. It was also still free, lol.

She’s traveling right now and sharing lots of stories... You’ll definitely hear it in her accent 😉😎
