Hi! What do you mean by "unusual"? Just strolling through the old town and the souks is enough to discover the city. Plus, you can easily get lost there. Otherwise, there’s Jemaa El Fnaa square, of course—it’s iconic all on its own. There’s nothing quite like the Palais du Facteur Cheval in the Drôme here in Marrakech.

Thanks Mathews, we're currently visiting the must-see spots, and maybe a community member has discovered (?) a hidden gem off the beaten path...

If you want to see something off the beaten path, you should head up to Adrar Yagour, a plateau at 2,300m with ancient rock carvings. This plateau is near Setti Fatma.

Hi there! If you're looking for something offbeat, I tried crossing the medina in a Dacia Logan 😄 All the details here: https://voyageforum.com/forum/marrakech-2025-premiers-pas-guide-prive-d10709443/

Nothing new in Marrakech, at least in the Medina, which is a hidden gem in itself! More recent: the Secret Garden, not far from the Ben Youssef Madrasa.

(that Montagnard guy is too clever )

One of the last synagogues, and right across from it, the large Jewish cemetery.

In the souks, step away from the main alleys near the square and don’t hesitate to explore the little side streets where no one goes. You’ll see lots of artisans there.

A really beautiful contemporary art museum: the MACCAL... Located within the Royal Golf grounds, you’ll need to take a taxi to get there. It’s a bit out of the way. Either keep the taxi or walk back on foot through an area full of wholesalers selling pottery of all sizes. https://macaal.org/ A truly stunning collection in this museum.

What a great idea to recommend contemporary art museums! We're heading to Morocco in January and will definitely visit those places. If you have any other recommendations elsewhere, I'd love to hear them. I'm planning our itinerary for the south. And we've got plenty of time 😊

Thanks for your feedback, Catherine—but since we were traveling with family, everything was well planned...
