Je pars très (très) bientot faire une année à Montreal pour mes études et j'ai quelques questions : peut on ouvrir un compte sans être résident permanent? les propriétaires sont ils plus réticent à louer leur logement quant il s'agit d'un etudiant etranger? pour ceux qui connaissent les tarifs: un 2 1/2 à 450$, c'est trouvable? quelle auberge de jeunesse me conseillez vous pour mon arrivée? le ticket de metro est valable pour un trajet ou pour une heure? les journaux dans lesquelles il y a les annonces pour logement paraissent ils le week end?

Pour le compte tu auras pas de problème. Chaque banque ici est la pour t'escroquer et te voler alors choisi celle que tu veux. Toutefois, si tu souhaites avoir un maximum d'accès a des guichets automatiques je te conseille la CAISSE populaire. C'est la plus répandue sur le territoire (pas la pire, pas la meilleure, seulement c'est très populaire)
Le métro : le ticket est valide pour un trajet. Tu peux donc passer la journée entière sur l'ile de Montreal avec un seul ticket tant et aussi longtemps que tu restes dans le réseau de transport. Toutefois, je te conseille vivement la carte mensuelle a 65$. Montreal est facile a vivre en transport en commun alors tu vas réaliser que tu prends souvent le métro. (j'arrive a le prendre plus de 6 fois par jour en guise d'exemple)
Pour le logement... avec 450 balles Canadien je présume... tu peux te retrouver avec un 4 pièce et demi pas rénové dans un cartier de l'est... C'est la que je réside et le coin est calme et a 10 minutes du centre en métro. Plus tu te rapproches du centre, plus c'Est cher. Mais bon, avec 450 balles t'auras aucun problème. Oublis pas qu'ici l'électricité se vend à un prix ridicule alors tu peux économiser sur ca aussi. Pour le téléphone c'est généralemetn 30 balles par mois mais je te conseille un portable ou tu peux avoir de tres bons forfait pour 45$.
En ce qui trait aux proprios, ils sont tous con.... Ils donnent un service minimum et t'arnaquent le plus possible. toutefois, si tu leur démontres que t'as de l'oseille il vont te faire signer un bail avec plaisir sans trop vérifier tes antécédants. Habituellement, un accompte d'un mois est exigé avant d'arriver (ou a la prise de possession du loyer).
En ce qui trait aux auberges de jeunesse alors la je sais pas dutout ! Sa te prend l'avis d'un étranger :p

Pour info, je logeais dans le quartier Côte des Neiges, donc à l'Ouest, j'étais à côté de 2 stations de bus, de deux stations de métro, de tous les services, et j'étais en coloc en 4 1/2 pour 300 $ / mois. A part les ratons laveurs et les moufettes, j'ai pas eu d'ennuis et ça n'avait rien d'un quartier pourri.
Par contre, j'ai des problèmes de visa : Il m'en faut un longue durée, qui me permette de travailler, et y a plus de PVT, et la situation est exaspérante : une agence de placement est intéressée par mon profil, mais attend mon visa. De son côté l'ambassade attend une lettre d'employeur. Présentement je mange mes braies, et j'en ai marre.

Pour l'uaberge, il faut te renseigner aupr`s des résidences univ (UQAM, Univ de Montréal, ...)
Le compte, je pense qu'avec un visa d'études tu peux t'ouvrir un. Il faut cependant avoir une adresse avant.
Les prop sont un peu plus rétissant, mais il ya bcoup de concierges étranger qui peuvent te faire confiance
Oui 2 et dem à 450$ est trouvable, regadge dans les cartiers de St michel (à côté du métro St-Michel, le nord est à éviter)
Le ticket de métro est valable pour un trajet dans le métro, une fois sorti du métro tu peux prendre un bus avec mais pas retourner au métro avec le même ticket. Penche plutôt pour le ticket hebdo illimité à 20$.
Les journaux sortenet le samedi avec beacoup d'annonces, mais el meilleieur moyen est de faire le porte à porte dans le cartier qui t'intéresse. Généralement les logement vide sont annoncé sur les batiments.

À part le PVT, il n'y a rien d'autres...demandez à l'agence qui est intéressée par votre profil une lettre détaillée qui dit qu'elle veut vous embaucher, et faites votre demande de permis de travail à l'ambassade.
Pour le logement, ma blonde s'en est occupé (c'est plus simple vu qu'elle est déjà sur place) et elle a trouvé une coloc à 300 $ /mois tt compris du côté d'Outremont.
Reste le problème du visa : le bail commence le 1er octobre, donc pas question d'attendre tranquillement que les escargots de l'ambassade me donnent une réponse (peut être négative d'ailleurs) dans quelques mois.
Je démarche donc les entreprises françaises installées sur place pour pouvoir partir légalement et sans visa.
Je lance donc un appel : si quelqu'un sur ce forum peut me filer un coup de pouce, ou a des contacts sur place pour accélérer le processus (sur place = Montréal, Laval ) je suis preneur et je lui paie un coup dans un café ! 😉
