Je pars avec ma copine pour un voyage de 4 mois en Asie du Sud-Est. Nous arriverons à Bangkok le 6 novembre e, t à partir de là, nous visiteroins les pays limitrophes (Cambodge, Laos, Birmanie et la province du Yunnan).
Nous partirons le 5 mars pour revenir à Montréal via le Japon, avec un séjour d'une semaine prévu à Kyoto et Tokyo.
La question du visa thai me donne de sérieux maux de tête!!!
1) Jamais nous resterons en Thailande plus de 30 jours consécutifs. Donc mon idée était de simplement prendre le tampon gratuit de 30 jours, et de la renouveler à chaque fois que je rentre en Thailande. Au total, environ 45-50 jours seront passés en Thailande durant tout notre voyage.
2) En téléphonant à l'ambassade, ils me disent que le visa/tampon de 30 jours me sera accordé à l'arrivée SI j'ai une preuve de sortie (un billet d'avion pour un autre pays). Sans cette preuve, ils me disent que les douaniers peuvent théoriquement NOUS REFUSER L'ENTRÉE AU PAYS (dans la mesure où nous n'avons pas un visa touristique prépayé, comme celui de 60 jours). En plus, ils précisent que CELA EST LAISSÉ À LA DISCRÉTION DU DOUANIER: peut-être nous laissera-t-il passer, peut-être pas!!!! Est-ce une vraie menace, ou simplement un moyen de vendre des visas?
Mon beau-frère a fait le même type de voyage cet été, et il n'a eu aucun problème pour se faire accorder le tampon de 30 jours à l'aeroport de Bangkok, sans aucune preuve démontrant son départ du pays. Je suis donc septique, mais la possibilité, même minime, de nous voir refuser l'entrée, est intolérable...
Si la menace est sérieuse, je pense à l'idée d'acheter un billet de sortie (par exemple, pour le Cambodge) avant mon départ, pour le montrer aux douanes.
3) Est-ce que la même situation prévaut à chaque entrée en Thailande?
Par exemple, si nous revenons du Laos pas moyen terrestre et que nous demandons un nouveau visa/tampon de 30 jours, vont-ils encore une fois exiger une preuve de départ? Si c'est le cas, tout ça devient foutrement compliqué!!!
Enfin, j'aimerais recevoir vos recommandations pour un hotel à Bangkok. Comme nous arrivons à l'aeroport Bangkok à minuit (après plus de 30 heures de vols et d'attente, ouf...), nous ne serons surement pas dans notre chambre avant 2 h du mat. C'est pourquoi je cherche un hotel/hostel avec ces caractéristiques:
1) Hotel confortable et propre avec de bons matelas (histoire de bien dormir à notre arrivée). Prix: entre 15 et 20$ (entre 10 et 15 euros). Pas besoin de l'air climatisé dans notre chambre double; par contre, préférence pour une chambre avec salle de bain.
2) Hotel qui accepte facilement les réservations (par téléphone ou internet). Anglais (ou français!) parlé.
3) Hotel central, dans le quartier touristique, mais pas dans le coeur de l'action et du bruit: légèrement en retrait serait parfait.
4) Enfin, il serait vraiment super si cet hotel offrait un service de garde des bagages, gratuitement ou pour des frais minimes. Comme Bangkok sera notre base pour de nombreuses excursions dans le reste du pays ou dans d'autres pays, nous aimerions avoir un seul hotel où nous reviendrons chaque fois. Nous pourrions ainsi laisser notre excédent de linge ou autre matériel dans l'hotel en toute sécurité (utile pour ne pas dépasser le poid maximum des bagages dans les avions low cost).
Si jamais vous connaissez un hotel (de rêve?) réunissant toutes ces caractéristiques à Bangkok, vous suggestions seraient grandement appréciées!
Vu le prix d'un visa de 2 mois et les problèmes éventuels que vous pourriez rencontrer en atterrissant à Bangkok, j'irai au consukat de Thailande proche de chez moi et en demanderais un.Ainsi vous serez sûrs de pouvoir entrer et fouler le sol thailandais.
Pour la suite de votre voyage, si vous décidez de rentrer en Thailande par voie aérienne, la police des frontières du Laos ou du Vietnam ou de quelque pays que ce soit vous demandera de leur montrer votre retour au départ de Bangkok si vous revenez en Thailande sans visa.
Par contre par voie terrestre, je n'ai pas ouï dire que ce soit demandé.
Le mieux est donc d'entrer en Thailande avec un "vrai" visa apposé sur votre passeport et non de tenter le VOA (Visa On Arrival).
Vous pouvez aussi entrer sans visa, donc obtenir le VOA en ayant acheté dans votre pays d'origine un billet de prolongation de voyage sur une compagnie low cost (Air Asia, One to Go, Bangkok Airways, Nok Air...); billet dont la date de départ est évidemment à l'intérieur des 30 premiers jours du VOA.
en ce qui concerne un hôtel de "rêve"; j'en connais un qui n'a pas de piscine mais tout le reste (air con, douche ou baignoire avec eau chaude, TV couleur, frigo;et garde des bagages ; il est à 3 minutes à pied de la gare centrale de Bangkok : Hua Lamphong et donc du métro souterrain; et au tout début du quartier chinois;
la chambre "double" est à 650 baht (14 €);
si vous avez une imprimante, vous enregistrez les photos ci-dessous et les montrerez à votre chauffeur de taxi.

A chaque fois que je suis entrée en Thaïlande, on ne m'a jamais demandé mon billet de départ vers une autre destination, et le visa de 30 jours a été accordé sans aucun problème à chaque fois! C'est un peu dommage d'acheter un visa dont on aura pas l'utilité il me semble... Le douanier me demande la plupart du temps combien de temps je reste, mais pas de problème si cette période n'excède pas les 30 jours!

Parait-il que c'est un nouveau règlement (depuis quand). Il semblerait qu'il y a désormais des affiches dans les aeroports tailandais expliquant qu'on ne peut entrer au pays sans visa, ou sinon on peut entrer pour moins de 30 jours AVEC UNE PREUVE DE DÉPART. Cependant, cette règle serait très peu appliquée dand les faits, et très peu de touristes seraient refoulés.

Il s'agit de la Wendy house soiKasem1, Rama1 Road, Patumwan. Cette rue est située à quelques mètres de la Station du sky train National Stadium et en face MBK. Petite chambre, très propre avec sanitaires privés, TV, frigo, clim, bouilloire électrique. 900 baths la chambre double -petit déj inclus.
Pour revenir sur la question compliquée du visa, je me demande ce que je peux faire pour entrer 4 ou 5 fois en Thailande (et parfois pour très peu de temps, et jamais pour plus de 30 jours) sur une période de 4 mois. Si je comprends bien, je peux me faire faire un visa 60 jours / 2 entrées, et à partir d'un pays étranger, demander de nouveau un autre visa 60 jours 2 entrées (j'obtiendrai alors 4 entrées).
Autre possibilité: ne pas utiliser tout de suite en arrivant ce visa 60 jours / 2 entrées: utiliser à la place le tampon de 30 jours qui sera posé dans mon passeport, ensuite sortir du pays quelques temps, puis y revenir et activer à ce moment là mon visa de 60 jours / 2 entrées. Ensuite, à la fin du voyage, je n'aurai qu'à demander sur place (à Bangkok) une prolongation si nécessaire. Après de longs efforts logiques, ce sont je pense les seules solutions qui s'offrent à moi.
En ce qui concerne les questions de visa, je ne peux pas te répondre. Nous sommes allés en Thaïlande l'an passé pour 3 semaines. Donc, nous nous sommes pas penchés sur ce problème. En fait, je répondais à ta deuxième question : hébergement à BKK.
Toutefois, un conseil, adresse-toi à des "professionnels" de la Thaïlande sur ce forum. Ils se feront un plaisir de te répondre. Je pense à Barbot, Thuan, Lepiaf, Boumbastic, j'en oublie beaucoup mais regarde les posts et ceux qui interviennet très souvent.
J'ai appelé à l'ambassade thailandaise du Canada, et on m'a certifié qu'il n'y a pas de limites pour les entrées en Thailande si on utlilise les tampons de 30 jours: les douaniers écrivent systématiquement la date sur le tampon, ce qu'il leur permet de vérifier le nombre de jours que vous passez dans le Pays. Si vous vous en tenez à la limite de 90 jours sur une période de 180 jours, vous pouvez donc entrer le nombre de fos que vous voulez en Thailande.

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
