Est-ce possible d'habiter en Namibie si on est blanc?
Quelle sont les conditions de vie? Le coût d'une maison? Le climat idéal pour vivre à l'année est dans quelle région? Est-ce possible d'être enceinte et d'élever des enfants là-bas?
Comment ça fonctionne si on travaille là-bas, difficle? Le paludisme est-il aussi dangereux partout?

Je ne connais la Namibie qu'en temps de touriste, mais je peux cependant te donner quelques informations.
Le palu n'est présent que dans l'extrême nord du pays à la fontière angolaise. Ailleurs, aucun risque.
Pourquoi souhaites-tu t'installer en Namibie ? Tu y as un projet professionnel ?
Les blancs sont en général propriétaires terriens (éleveurs) ou travaillent dans le tourisme (boutiques de souvenirs, hôtels, lodges, réserves animalières, agences de voyages, etc...).
Le pays est très peu peuplé et il y a peu de grandes villes : Windhoek, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Keetmanshoop me semble être les plus importantes. Tout dépend ce que tu comptes y faire...
La médecine est d'un très bon niveau : médecins formés en Afrique du Sud. Accoucher là-bas ne doit pas poser de problème, même s'il est probablement mieux d'être dans une grande ville en cas de problème...
Il n'y a pas de racisme envers les blancs. Mais tu risques d'avantage les vols et cambriolages puisque tu es supposée avoir de l'argent. Plus la ville est grande, plus il y a de risques...
Peut-on parler d'une région avec un climat idéal ? En hiver (juillet/août), il y fait froid : il gèle souvent la nuit. On ne s'en rend pas compte mais on est souvent en altitude (Windhoek est à 1500 mètres). Plus tu montes vers le nord, moins il fait froid. La côté n'est pas idéale non plus car la mer est froide (courant remontant du Pôle Sud) et à la rencontre avec le continent plutôt chaud crée souvent de la brume.
Avant d'envisager de t'y installer, ne devrais-tu pas d'y rendre en vacances ?
C'est que je suis en recherche d'un pays en Afrique où je pourrai y vivre avec éventuellement des enfants. Donc c'est certain qu'il y a le côté affaire qui entre en ligne.
La seule inquiétude est vraiment le climat. Je suis parti du Canada car j'en avait ras le bol du froid.Je suis en Tunisie et il fait très froid dans la région où je suis, il y a même de la neige comme aujourd'hui!
Donc j'aimerais habiter un pays où le climat est bon à l'année et ayant les possibilités de créer mon entreprise touristique. Ce qui veut dire un pays où il y a des activités à faire, pas seulement la visite de paysage.

Même si j'ai dit qu'il pouvait faire froid en Namibie, ça n'a rien à voir avec l'hiver canadien. Il n'y a pas de neige ! Et même si j'ai connu plusieurs nuit en dessous de 0°C en juillet dernier, j'estime qu'en moyenne, à cette période la plus froide de l'année, il fait environ 10°C la nuit et 20°C le jour (variable selon la région).
Si j'avais dû m'installer ailleurs, j'aurais choisi l'Australie (à condition qu'ils m'acceptent). J'adore ce pays. Les gens y sont extrêmement sympas. Et question climat, il y a le choix, et une chose est sûre : il n'y fait pas froid...
J'ai encore mon visa valide jusqu'au 23 septembre 2005 avec le SWAP. On devait y aller le 20 septembre et un contre-temps est survenu donc on s'est retrouvé en Tunisie. Je ne sais pas si je vais avoir le temps d'aller en Australie avant la fin de notre visa. Sinon on va y aller en touriste!
C'est très difficile de rentrer comme résident en Australie! Mon conjoint travaille dans les mines et c'est difficile car il privilégie les gens de la place avant les expatriés.

Merci du renseignement ! Y ayant passé 14 semaines, je crois que je connais assez bien l'Australie... Ramené à la surface total du pays, et même s'il existe en effet des montagnes équipées de stations de ski, je continue à considérer que l'Australie est un pays... chaud !
...J'y ai été aussi...et dans l'outback, les journées sont chaudes et brûlantes, les nuits sont froides...il ne faut pas donner une image erronée du pays, même les guides touristiques mentionnent l'Australie comme étant un pays à climat tempéré, alors il y fait plus chaud qu'en Espagne et une partie du pays est tropicale voire équatoriale mais c'est un pays tellement vaste avec une telle variété de climats, comme l'Afrique du Sud et les Etats Unis que dire d'un coup l'Australie est un pays chaud, ça me paraît simpliste, j'y ai été trois semaines. J'ai d'ailleurs connu une anglaise là bas, une touriste, qui pensait que c'était un pays chaud, un soir elle grelottait, elle a fait comme si elle n'avait rien, deux heures après c'était les urgences. Elle s'en est bien tirée...

En Australile, oui il fait chaud, ya pas 2 saisons pr le nord, la saison seche et la saison humide. Pour le nord, je confirme si tu y va en hiver il fait froid. Jai passé 8 mois en australie donc 6 dans un van a silloner l'australie et ba le sud, on sait trompé de période, on à éviter un ouragan qui a devasté une ptite ville (vu à la tfv le lendemain!! on est partis ds la nuit) etle reste d la visite c'est passé dans le froid et sous la pluie.. Donc je confirme pour eviter le froid ya des regions a éviter en Australie.... Ah oui je me rapelle avoir visiter la great ocean road avec un bonnet et une doudoune.

Euh en Australie, il peut faire très froid, cela dépend où. A Melbourne, Camberra, le gel est fréquent, il arrive qu'il neige aussi. Et dans les montagnes en Namibie il est arrivé qu'il neige.

After living for many years in the West (Belgium, Italy, Switzerland),
I’ve decided to return and settle in Cameroon, my home country.
