je suis tunisienne mais je vis en France, j'aimerai beaucoup prendre des cours pour me perfectionner en danse orientale (tambourin + canne + voile...). J'ai de l'expérience mais jamais assez à mon goût🤪
En faite j'hésite entre aller au Caire ou Tunis...Je voudrais y aller en octobre (après le RAMADAN) et ce pendant 1 mois pour prendre le temps de tout apprendre.
Connaissez vous des profs qui pratiquent le sharki et qui pourraient m'apprendre la canne, le voile, le tambourin et les percussions...J'ai une très bonne base mais je manque de technique!!! Aussi, y a t-il des costumes à Tunis (digne de ce nom bien sûre, qui soient de bonne qualité!!)
En faite ce que je recherche ce sont des avis expérimentés afin de prendre la bonne décision.

Pour la danse orientale, l'Egypte reste LE pays incontournable, bien plus que la Tunisie.
A mon avis, tu auras plus de choix pour les costumes, les profs ..

En Tunisie, et depuis longtemps, il existait des profs de danse orientale très professionnelle, récemment j'ai conseiller à des voyageurs une prof de danse oriental à Djerba, ils ont était très satisfait par les cours ( Sarki, bedoui, yoga oriental, tenu de danse oriental, music oriental....) si cela vous intéresse je peux vous renseigner les adresse en privé.

Aaah, quel dilemme. Les deux pays si chers à mon coeur. Je pense que oui, il doit être possible de trouver de très bons professeurs en Tunisie mais sincèrement, l'Egypte & surtout, le Caire, c'est LA destination pour les danses orientales. Je peux notamment te conseiller le NILEGROUP, qui a un nombre impressionnants d'enseignants reconnus. De plus, je sais qu'il y a beaucoup d'excellentes boutiques de costumes professionnels à moindre coups, là-bas. A ta place, si tu pars vraiment POUR la danse, je te conseille vraiment la capitale egyptienne. En tout cas, je t'admire réellement. Si j'avais la possibilité de faire ça, je le ferais sans hésiter car la danse est bien plus qu'une passion pour moi & je rêve d'en faire ma profession. N'hésitep plus & FONCE !
effectivement, je suis certaine que l'Egypte reste la destination pour la danse orientale mais je voulais avoir des avis qui confirme mon choix. Je pars en octobre et j'ai hâte d'y être j'espère seulement de revenir avec encore plus de technique, en France ça ne va pas assez vite!!

Je voudrais transformer ma passion en profession...j'aime cette danse depuis toute petite mais les choses étaient différentes toute jeune, aujourd'hui c'est un projet qui me tient à coeur et comme tu dis je vais foncer. Tu as raison c'est le Caire pour la danse orientale et c'est la que je vais aller! Connais-tu des personnes qui pourraient me louer un studio pour 1 mois dans la capitale dans un quartier ou je me sente en sécurité!!!

Tu as bien raison de réaliser ce projet. Moi, c'est mon rêve de pouvoir faire la même chose, seulement je n'ai que 18 ans. Je viens à peine d'avoir mon BAC. Je vais faire mes études supérieurs dans le milieu de la publicité (3 ans ou 5 ans si Master) & après, j'aviserai. Car je suis fascinée par cet art depuis l'âge de 7 ans ! Si on me donnait un choix de vie, ce serait vraiment celui-là même si ce n'est pas facile tous les jours ! Je suis d'accord avec toi pour ce qui est de la rapidité d'apprentissage. Oui, je danse également. J'entame seulement ma 3ème année de pratique mais je suis fascinée par cet art depuis plus de 10 ans. Je n'osai pas me lancer jusqu'au jour où je me suis rendue compte que c'était ridicule de se priver car c'était, même avant l'heure, une passion bien plus qu'évidente. Je suis sure qu'un jour, je ferais la même chose que toi afin de réaliser ce qui est et doit être mon destin.
C'est vrai qu'on me dit assez souvent être plutôt mature pour mon âge mais c'est dû aux rudes épreuves que la vie m'a réservé jusqu'à lors. Je n'ai pas eu une enfance toute dorée, disons. Et ça forge un certain caractère. Je grandis probablement aussi un peu plus vite que la moyenne ... Oui, la publicité et l'art en général me passionnent mais si j'avais le choix entre pub & danseuse orientale, le choix serait très vite fait & évident ! Sinon, pour ton logement au Caire, n'existe t'il pas des agences capables de t'aider dans tes recherches ?

Effectivement, la vie nous réserve des situations parfois difficile et pourtant c'est la meilleure école!!!
Nous avons les mêmes centre d'intérêts car moi aussi j'ai failli faire des études de pub mais pas assez motivé pour retourner à l'école🤪.
Pour la danse, je danse depuis toute petite et je n'ai commencé a prendre des cours que depuis peu, j'ai commencé par débutante mais 1 mois après ma prof ma mise dans les débutantes 2ème années et puis en cours d'année elle m'a proposé de venir à tous les cours car j'allais très vite donc j'en ai profité mais toujours pas assez vite à mon gout...j'ai donc participé au gala de fin d'année avec 5 passages pour un spectacle de 1h30. Aujourd'hui, je m'ennuie dans ces cours et c'est pour cela que j'ai décidé de faire mon expérience au Caire, après tout, tous les artistes passent par le Caire!
Tu sais je pense que le Mektoub te rattrape un jour ou l'autre car pour ma part, c'était enfoui en moi et j'ai toujours repoussé à cause de mes parents qui ont une mauvaise idée de cet art mais surtout parcequ'ils sont musulmans et de danser le ventre à l'air ne se fait pas du tout...Bref, moi c'est ce que je veux faire!!!
Pour les agences je ne sais pas trop, je cherche tous les jours mais je dois allé acheter le guide du routard ! J'espère vite trouver un appartement pour me sentir bien et être libre de pouvoir faire à manger...Je te tiens au courant!

Tu as surement raison, le Mektoub me rattrappera sans doute un jour ou l'autre ... Et peut-être plus vite que je ne l'imagine, qui sait ? C'est super que tu ailles aussi vite lors de l'apprentissage à tes cours. Moi, j'avoue qu'avec les études, je ne peux pas m'y consacrer autant que je le voudrais. Même si cette année, je souhaite prendre 5 ou 6h/semaine en + des stages avec des artistes reconnus une fois de temps en temps. Tiens moi au courant, c'est avec plaisir que je prendrais de tes nouvelles !
tu as de la chance qu'il y ait des artistes qui passent par chez toi...par chez moi c'est 😕, je pense avoir trouvé un hébergement mais c'est pas complètement sûre...Vis en fonction de tes envies et pas toujours en fonction de ce qu'il faut faire parceque la société le veut...parfois, je vois autour de moi, mes amis ont une vie bien cadré, un boulot "normal", une maison, les enfants, le chien... et moi ma vie change tout le temps..j'élève ma fille seule et je dois m'adapter à tous ce qui me tombe dessus.. je me dis que je dois pas être normale et aussi je me dis que NON je suis moi et que pour moi c'est très différent de mes amis, j'ai l'âme d'une artiste et je compte bien danser...

Je ne sais pas si je suis de ceux-là car en fait, je sais très bien ce que je veux et ce n'est pas ce que j'ai actuellement. Mais bon, j'ai 18 ans & je dois encore me taire et obéir. Même si ce n'est pas facile à vivre au quotidien. Peut-être que d'içi 3-4 ans, tout va changer. Je l'espère, en tout cas. Moi aussi, ma mère m'a élevée seule. Je n'ai jamais connu mon père ni toute cette partie de ma famille. Il est décédé, à présent. C'est aussi ce qui me pousse à faire ce dont elle a envie car elle m'a élevée tel qu'elle l'a pu & je ne veux pas la décevoir. Même si je sais bien que ma "vraie" vie est ailleurs ... Bonjour, je souhaiterais prendre des cours de danse orientale, apparemment la danse égyptienne (appelée aussi danse du ventre en France ou belly dance en Amérique) est la danse traditionnelle.
Les maghrébins savent préciser généralement quelle sorte de danse orientale pratiquent les filles, même des débutantes (égyptienne ou tunisienne ou autre) qui dansent pour s'amuser.
Je voudrais savoir ce qui distingue une danse orientale d'une autre et à tout hasard, si quelqu'un connait des cours pas chers sur Paris.

Basically, our route would be:
Marrakech - Aït Benhaddou
Skoura - Tinghir - Merzouga
Merzouga via the N12 to Zagora
Zagora - Draa Valley - Marrakech
It seems to be the low season, so I’d love to travel without having to book accommodations in advance. In other countries, pre-booking has restricted us and kept us from visiting unplanned sites. Freedom is important to us, but I’d also like to avoid arriving somewhere and finding nothing available.
What do you recommend? Book ahead or not?
Your advice is always helpful, and thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this for me.

First of all: a big thank you to everyone whose insightful, funny, lively, and exotic posts we’ve enjoyed. It’s a joy to find such lovely writers on this forum, who’ve given me tons of ideas and addresses to prepare our trip.
Our plan: to explore Morocco from November 2nd to December 4th. We’ll have our own vehicle (a 2011 Renault Grand Scenic, in great condition), shipped with us from Sète to Tanger Med. Returning from Nador.
Our profile: 75 and 62 years young, so old but happy to be, in very good health. Seasoned travelers—it’s practically our whole life. Lovers of beautiful landscapes, historic sites, fine craftsmanship, and road trips. This will be my 3rd trip to Morocco, but the first two were 20 and 17 years ago. I’ve never been north of the Essaouira-Marrakech line (though I’ve gone further south). As for my husband, a lifelong expat including in Muslim countries, it’s his first time in Morocco.
He’s the one driving. He’s very experienced, cautious, not necessarily fast, but used to driving in all conditions (and countries, including the most creative on the road). But I don’t want to tire him out, and he no longer drives at night (and we’ll be there in November).
I’ve decided to show him a bit of everything by taking a road trip along beautiful backroads, with daily distances averaging 180-200 km (except on highways, which will be rare), regularly broken up by rest days. I’m counting on a speed of 40-50 km/h, plus stops/visits along the way.
Since I’ve read so many posts, I’ve narrowed it down to some very specific questions.
1) Coming directly from Rabat via the highway, we’d prefer to skip Marrakech*. Still, we’ll need to sleep somewhere nearby. We’ll head toward Skoura the next day. Does anyone have a well-located address for this route, possibly east of Marrakech? Ideally, we’re looking for a small town, easy parking, clean accommodation (minimum) with average comfort (or better if available), a bit heated, and if possible, pretty and/or nice—but above all, a place to sleep well, wash with lukewarm (ideally hot) water, and have a decent dinner.
(*Explanation for the "no-go" in Marrakech: it’s a shame, because there are truly beautiful things in this city, but I think the vibe won’t suit us—it’s an understatement for "it’ll put us off" / "make us flee" / "traumatize us." Not because it’s too crowded and we want to stand out from tourists (we’re part of them), but because of forced henna on your hand, or spending 10 minutes every quarter-hour saying "no thank you" to a "guide" who’s as much a guide as I am a trapeze artist. Knowing us, it’ll wear us down. The country is vast and beautiful, and our time too short to waste our memories just days after arriving. And I don’t want to ruin things for my peaceful husband, or he’ll demand we turn back—and Sète in November isn’t exactly thrilling either.)
2) Which route to Skoura (in 2 days)? I see two options: either via the Tichka Pass, with a night in Telouet before reaching Skoura, or via the R307/N23 from Demnate, with a night near Megdaz before descending to Skoura. So: Tichka Pass or R307/N23? I have a slight (big) preference for the second option, even though I know the other route is very beautiful too. Of course, before deciding, we’ll check the weather and the current state of the R307/N23—does anyone know where to get info on the road conditions? But even assuming the road is "passable," is it a bit too tough in itself? In short, is it reasonable? If a kind soul could share their experience, a thousand thanks in advance.

Is there a way to buy tickets in Spain? Or another way to get the Algeciras–Tangier crossing cheaper? Thanks for any tips or info!
We found a guide who offers the trip from M'hamid to a camp (departure at 3 PM, tea, meal, camel ride, overnight stay, breakfast, and return to M'Hamid by 11 AM the next day via the sacred oasis). He quoted us a price of 380 € for April.
What do you think of this rate?

I’ve read through the various discussions about the country, but I’m still a bit unsure🤪: for currency exchange, I saw on the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that withdrawing currency with a bank card from ATMs is limited to 200 TND per week. There are four of us traveling by car, so that might be a bit tight! And it’s a hassle to carry a lot of cash, even if I’m not being paranoid! What do you all recommend?

Then, when I mentioned I wanted to stay for two or three weeks—maybe even a month—explaining that my trip wouldn’t be strictly touristy but more of a pilgrimage to the places of my childhood, and that it would likely be a very emotional journey, I expected a positive and warm reaction to my approach. Instead, I suddenly stopped getting replies from the three or four people I’d contacted. So now I’m wondering about the reception former Pieds-Noirs can expect...

I’m leaving for Tunisia in five weeks for a full 15-day trip. I’ll be arriving in Monastir and departing from there as well.
I’d like to do a route that’s a bit different from my first stay, which was more focused on cities and culture (Tunis, Sousse, Kairouan, El Jem).
I’ll be getting around by public transport.
I’d like to head south toward Tozeur, and I saw that you can take a *louage* from Monastir to Sbeitla (2h30). I imagine it’s not too complicated to get to Tozeur from there afterward? The issue is the return trip to Monastir and safety in Sbeitla.
If this route seems too complicated, I might opt for Djerba instead, which looks simpler.
