Le tourisme a explosé ces dix dernières années à Barcelone : 30% des appartements du centre-ville sont loués à des touristes, souvent via des plateformes comme AirBnB ou Booking. Les prix des loyers flambent et la grogne monte chez une partie de la population, issue de la génération touchée par la crise et la précarité. Depuis un an, une quarantaine d’associations de lutte contre le tourisme de masse ont été créées. Ada Colau, la maire de la ville, s’est engagée à "faire le ménage", afin que Barcelone ne devienne pas un vaste parc touristique à ciel ouvert. Les premiers effets de son plan d’action commencent à se faire sentir.
Je comprends les habitants. J'ai connu Barcelone "avant", il y a encore 15 ans c'était génial. Aujourd'hui c'est l'invasion de touristes presque toute l'année. Certes l'architecture de Gaudí ne change pas mais l'atmosphère de cette ville a complètement disparue. Dans le centre il est plus dur de trouver quelqu'un parlant catalan/espagnol que anglais ou français. La Barceloneta est une immense auberge de jeunesse avec bitures et vomis en pleine rue tous les soirs. Le front de mer est juste infréquentable.
Heureusement il reste quelques coins typiques dans l'Eixample avec bars de quartier et douceur de vivre...

Mon père y a vécu les dernières années de sa vie en jusqu'en 1986 .
A l'époque j'allais souvent le voir , je me suis fait des amis dans les bars , nous logions chez eux vers le musée Picasso . Il y avait une vraie ville qui vivait avec ses différences , ses nationalités diverses , le Barcelone de Pepe Carvalho de Montalban , je suivais d'ailleurs les indications de ses bouquins pour me balader dans la ville , me restauree , les ramblas avaient encore les oiseaux et les fleurs et le Chino avait une âme et existait encore .
Aujourd'hui les Barcelonais en ont marre d'être pris pour un parc d'attraction , de ne plus pouvoir acheter le moindre appartement , de subir les bitures des jeunes europeens , de voir s'élever des hôtels où ils ne pourront jamais aller boire un verre .
L'architecture de Gaudi reste , mais l'esprit a foutu le camp .
Alors je remercie la Maire de Barcelone de prendre des mesures pour ramener cette ville à ce qu'elle aurait dû rester . Une ville de brassage de nationalités , d'accueil , de bien vivre , et pas un Barcelone ´Park sans âme .
Vingt millions de touristes chaque année à Barcelone, et sur ce forum, on voit bien que tous les visiteurs d'outre Atlantique y passent obligatoirement. Mais moi qui n'ai pas connu le vrai Barcelone (on m'en a beaucoup parlé), je me dis égoïstement que au moins ça préserve d'autres endroits que j'adore et qui, par leur taille pourraient vite être submergés.
Un debut de solution à ete mise en place par la maire de Barcelonne quî s'intéresse plus à ses administrés qu'aux profits des grands hôtels , et des TO de tous ordres .
Mais en ces temps où tout se vend comme une savonnette , candidats politiques inclus , je crains tout de même pour cette ville et toutes les autres ...

Si on lançait sur les réseaux sociaux " il faut avoir fait les décharges de Madrid" il y aurait encore du monde pour adhérer et acheter les billets sur le net 🏴☠️
Je suis bien d'accord avec toi Hannah. Je pense que se donner un peu de mal à chercher soi-même ce qu'on a envie de découvrir, c'est la garantie une fois sur place d'être un touriste respectueux qui sait se fondre dans le paysage.
Il y a sans doute une éthique à avoir du début à la fin, si on a d'autres aspirations que de se déplacer dans un vaste supermarché... et d'aller de "Starbucks cafés" en "Starbucks cafés" (je ne me souviens plus des autres noms).
Et passer des heures avec les nouveaux moyens technologiques à se concocter un petit circuit...quel plaisir !!
Eh oui , le voyage pour moi c'est déplier une carte Michelin , chercher en priorité les routes bordées de verts ( beaux paysages) et ensuite avec un guide chercher des coins sympas à visiter . En Espagne ce n'est pas ce qui manque , il y a un nombres incroyables de villes et villages en Andalousie en dehors du sacro saint triangle des Bermudes : grenade, Séville, Cordoue . Et j'adore Grenade .
Un exemple quî me fout le moral en l'air : le caminito del Rey . Autrefois connu des amoureux de la montagne et des oiseaux c'est devenu un gros truc touristique où il faut s'inscrire et attendre son tour ...Ca rapporte un fric fou . Ouf ...j'avais eu la. Chance de le voir avant, en faisant une recherche de ce qui pouvait m'intéresser dans le coin 😉
je suis allée à Barcelone ce printemps, c'est vrai que c'est une usine à touriste, nous avons payé notre location trop chère, la nourriture est tout aussi chère et pas bonne, franchement je plains les locaux, il y a trop de monde partout, j'imagine ce que cela doit être en été, à fuire...
Sinon il y a de belles choses à voir

Elle avait une réputation justifiée de ville ou l'on peut manger de façon gastronomique à petit prix . J'en ai souvent fait l'expérience .Il doit tout de même rester des endroits où l'on peut manger la vraie cuisine catalane sans avoir à vider son porte monnaie .
Le debut de la fin , si l'on peut dire, à ete l'installation des jeux olympiques , on a " nettoyé" la ville pour plaire aux futurs visiteurs , exit le Barrio Chino par exemple , fini la Barcelonette dans son jus , élaboration d'un plan avec hôtels démesurés , ensuite tout est parti en vrille .
J'espère que vous en avez quand même profité et je vous remercie d'avoir pensé aux habitants de cette ville quî en ont par dessus la tête .
On y ressent bien l'atmosphère de la vieille ville de l'époque.
Je me souviens qu'à l'époque le réalisateur avait expliqué qu'il avait voulu faire de Barcelone un personnage à part entière du film. La Barcelone des années 80, celle d'avant les JO, ou le Barri Gotic était rempli de loubards, macs, et drogués...

Voilà une horreur. Les Jeux Olympiques. Pour 15 jours de messe mondiale télévisée, un coup de rouleau compresseur destructeur et définitif sur une grande ville (Barcelone n'est pas la seule).

1936. L'année est olympique. Berlin a été choisi pour accueillir les Jeux Olympiques d'été. Un triomphe pour Adolf Hitler, au pouvoir depuis 1933... En cet été 1936, moins d'un mois avant, des contre-jeux avaient été organisés à Barcelone. Ils devaient y réunir des milliers d'athlètes, mais ils ont été été empêchés par le coup d'Etat du général Franco .

Bien d'accord avec toi, Hannah! Moi aussi j'ai connu Barcelone dans les années 80...Maintenant, quand je dois me rendre dans une grande ville, je vais à Madrid, qui ressemble encore à une ville espagnole avec de "vrais gens"! Bien que l'on commence à y détecter les mêmes problèmes.
Et j'en profite pour vous dire à tous de ne pas venir à Ibiza, on en a marre, on n'en peut plus, l'île n'est pas extensible, les routes sont saturées, les usines de desalanisation d'eau sont colapsées, les habitants sont chassés de leurs logements par les propriétaires avides qui veulent louer à travers de Air BnB, nous manquons de médecins, de policiers, de toutes sortes de travailleurs car il est imposible de se loger, et les gens, même s'ils ont obtenu un contrat de travail y renoncent et retournent sur la Péninsule. Les plages ne sont pas idylliques, elles sont bondées bruyantes et chères. Nous aimerions bien que notre gouvernement regional soit aussi efficace que celui d'Ana Colau!

Le probleme de air b'n'b est récurrent dans toutes les grandes villes , à Bordeaux les personnes avec de petits moyens ne peuvent plus se loger dans le centre ville . Une bonne partie des propriétaires ne veulent plus louer les petits appartements qu'à travers cette foutue plate forme , il serait temps qu'on s'aperçoive de tout le mal que ça peut faire . Même si je comprends que pour certains c'est un moyen de voyager moins cher , mais les retombées sont chères pour les habitants des villes .
Je n'aime plus particulièrement les villes mais Madrid est encore authentique , tout comme Bilbao ou nombres d'autres que je ne citerais pas .

J'ai des amis assez pauvres (jeunes et précaires), qui sous-louent une chambre de leur appartement par le biais de R'b'n'b. Ils ont le profil pour accueillir ainsi de façon très ponctuelle et chaleureuse des gens dans leur appartement. Voilà sur quel esprit s'est installé cette plateforme, comme blablavoiture, la convivialité est un énorme marché qui se retrouve entre les griffes d'une poignée d'énormes entreprises, et le résultat est humainement le contraire de ce que devrait être l'échange entre particuliers.
Du coup, me voilà avec l'envie de me programmer un séjour à Madrid. Moi qui suis à la recherche de l'âme de l'Espagne, ça me rassure de savoir que sa capitale peut encore l'abriter. Est-ce que je pourrai m'y sentir comme dans un film de Carlos Saura ?

J'avoue que j'étais depuis la fin des années 80 une grande fan de Barcelone, ville dans laquelle je séjournais très souvent car près de chez moi. Depuis 10 ans, je prenais de moins en moins de plaisir à y aller : trop de touristes, le vieux centre transformé en Disneyland, l'âme du chino disparue (moi aussi j'y ai bu de l'absinthe dans un vieux bar improbable où on écoutait Piaf, et passé des nuits entières au Kentucky, où l'on côtoyait le fond de la nuit)...
Et puis j'ai découvert Madrid, et malgré la distance c'est désormais ma ville espagnole préférée.
Donc oui, je pense que tu pourras y trouver l'âme espagnole. En tout cas, tu y trouveras moins de touristes, une population accueillante, la plus grosse concentration de bars et de restos du monde, une ambiance quoi !
Madrid oui pour l'ambiance et la night life mais par contre et personnellement je ne trouve pas la ville très belle, et pas trop de monuments à voir comme à Barcelone.

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...
