j'ai beaucoup épluché les messages sur le site. Il est vrai que les informations sur la cote méditerranéenne du Maroc sont peu fréquentes et pas toujours fraiches. Je devrais partir d Andalousie ce 31 juillet et me trouver à Casa impérativement le 10 aout. Je voulais donc faire Motril Melilla, puis prendre un taxi pour Nador. Mais plus je cherche plus je vois que les hébergements sont chers et les choix restreints. La période n'est certainement pas appropriée vu le nombre de personnes qui rentrent pour les vacances.
Bref, la mer n est pas mon objectif , c 'était plutôt pour découvrir cette partie du Maroc.
J ai un peu peur pour la chaleur en allant vers Fes (que je connais déjà). Bref, je ne sais pas quoi faire de ces 10 jours, je voudrais découvrir, pas trop chaud, pas trop cher. Les seuls bons hébergements que j'ai trouvé sont à Essaouira, bizarre, non? je pourrai aussi aller à Algeciras , bateau jusqu'à Tanger et continuer jusqu'à Al Jadida et essayer de trouver un bus pour Essaouira?
J'ai vu que Cambrousse et Hanna connaissent très bien le pays. Je voyage seule, budget moyen.
La propreté et la tranquillité sont indispensables.

de cette côte, je ne connais que Tanger, puis la portion qui va de Al Hoceima à Saidia. Elle est très belle, mais la température en aout je ne sais pas bien (j'y suis allée en octobre). Je logeais dans un petit hotel populaire (bien roots) près de la corniche à Al Hoceima, ensuite je suis repartie sur Oujda et autres villes de l'intérieur de l'Oriental. En août ça doit être un four !🤪

vers le cap de l'eau il doit y avoir des endroits sympa ... à creuser.
d'autre part en ce moment un mouvement populaire important ("hirak") mobilise une partie de la population et les forces de police/armée, ce n'est peut-être pas le moment d'aller y faire une balade.

Descendre de Tanger à Essaouira est je pense une bonne idée, il y aura du monde pour ces vacances, mais bon, ce n'est pas rédhibitoire. En aout on sait à quoi on s'attend 😉
Rabat me semble digne d’intérêt, puis des escales comme el Djadida; Safi, (Oualidia, d'autres ... il y a le choix) : en bus vous faites toute la côte atlantique en sauts de puce.
je l'ai parcourue dans l'autre sens en mars, j'ai bien aimé.
et vous aurez la fraicheur de la mer.
dans chacune de ces villes côtières j'ai trouvé des hébergements corrects, propres, avec sanitaires personnels, wifi dans tous. Par contre, Essaouira je sèche, je n'y ai jamais dormi (j'y vais en général pour une journée depuis Marrakech)

Le 11 je récupère ma mère et ma sœur qui arrivent de la Réunion et on a déjà réservé 3 jours à Marrakech, raison pour laquelle je ne suis pas très intéressée à y aller avant. Par contre je ne connais pas du tout ce coin du Maroc, Agadir vaut le voyage en cette saison tu crois? tout d'abord concernant le prix, pour ce montant tu trouveras de nombreuses propositions très bien. chambre avec sanitaires perso. achètes un guide-papier (moi j'ai le routard, tout le monde critique mais bon, faute de mieux ; il est plein d'adresses intéressantes).
il y aura du monde sur la côte, je réserverais deux-trois jours avant. (un coup de fil suffit, n'avances rien)
Agadir est une ville du sud très cosy, mais dénuée des charmes d'Essaouira ou autre ville sur la côte.
bus : aucun souci. Ils sont tous en bonne forme, y'a des flottes neuves sur CTM et Supratours, les routes sont bonnes et les chauffeurs de bons chauffeurs. Je n'ai jamais eu peur sur ces routes.
CTM et Supratours se valent en qualité et cout. moi je vois au plus pratique (emplacement de la station en ville etc)

- Tanger une nuit: visite la première demi-journée, y'a de jolies choses à découvrir (le café hafa sur la falaise, par exemple)
- Rabat (deux nuit) visite une journée
- Rabat-Essaouira en une journée (longue journée)
En général pour ce prix j'ai une demi pension et une prestation correcte avec salle de bain privative .
Par contre de Tanger à Essaouira c'est vraiment des endroits où je passe mais ne reste pas , donc pas de tuyaux . Je me suis arrêté à la lagune de Oualidia il y a deux ans , tres agreable , j'avais paye 25€ la single , une des plus chères de mes parcours 😉 Hotel l'araignée gourmande . Au mois d'août il risque d'y avoir beaucoup de monde et peut être que les prix grimpent .
Je me deplace en voiture de location , ça change un peu les itinéraires , et je laisse cambrousse te donner les bons plans pour les transports en commun .
S'il y a un bus qui fait le trajet du nord à partir de Ceuta pour aller à Tanger en suivant la côte c'est une belle region , 67 kms que je fais toujours avec plaisir . Vous pourriez envisager de débarquer à Ceuta pour faire cet itineraire . Avec un passage par le cap Spartel et les grottes d'Hervule .
Pour Agadir , au mois d'Aout , ca me parait ininteressanr , mais c'est mon point de vue . Par contre à partir du nord d'agadir la vallee du paradis est à découvrir .

Du coup je voulais découvrir autre chose, mais c 'est vrai que le mois d'aout, faut être motivé!!!, la foule, les prix, la chaleur....mais j'aime l'idée d'aller me balader au Maroc.

Quand il n.y a pas de bus il y a les grands taxis. La flotte se renouvelle a grande vitesse et les nouveaux 6 places sont confortables.

First of all: a big thank you to everyone whose insightful, funny, lively, and exotic posts we’ve enjoyed. It’s a joy to find such lovely writers on this forum, who’ve given me tons of ideas and addresses to prepare our trip.
Our plan: to explore Morocco from November 2nd to December 4th. We’ll have our own vehicle (a 2011 Renault Grand Scenic, in great condition), shipped with us from Sète to Tanger Med. Returning from Nador.
Our profile: 75 and 62 years young, so old but happy to be, in very good health. Seasoned travelers—it’s practically our whole life. Lovers of beautiful landscapes, historic sites, fine craftsmanship, and road trips. This will be my 3rd trip to Morocco, but the first two were 20 and 17 years ago. I’ve never been north of the Essaouira-Marrakech line (though I’ve gone further south). As for my husband, a lifelong expat including in Muslim countries, it’s his first time in Morocco.
He’s the one driving. He’s very experienced, cautious, not necessarily fast, but used to driving in all conditions (and countries, including the most creative on the road). But I don’t want to tire him out, and he no longer drives at night (and we’ll be there in November).
I’ve decided to show him a bit of everything by taking a road trip along beautiful backroads, with daily distances averaging 180-200 km (except on highways, which will be rare), regularly broken up by rest days. I’m counting on a speed of 40-50 km/h, plus stops/visits along the way.
Since I’ve read so many posts, I’ve narrowed it down to some very specific questions.
1) Coming directly from Rabat via the highway, we’d prefer to skip Marrakech*. Still, we’ll need to sleep somewhere nearby. We’ll head toward Skoura the next day. Does anyone have a well-located address for this route, possibly east of Marrakech? Ideally, we’re looking for a small town, easy parking, clean accommodation (minimum) with average comfort (or better if available), a bit heated, and if possible, pretty and/or nice—but above all, a place to sleep well, wash with lukewarm (ideally hot) water, and have a decent dinner.
(*Explanation for the "no-go" in Marrakech: it’s a shame, because there are truly beautiful things in this city, but I think the vibe won’t suit us—it’s an understatement for "it’ll put us off" / "make us flee" / "traumatize us." Not because it’s too crowded and we want to stand out from tourists (we’re part of them), but because of forced henna on your hand, or spending 10 minutes every quarter-hour saying "no thank you" to a "guide" who’s as much a guide as I am a trapeze artist. Knowing us, it’ll wear us down. The country is vast and beautiful, and our time too short to waste our memories just days after arriving. And I don’t want to ruin things for my peaceful husband, or he’ll demand we turn back—and Sète in November isn’t exactly thrilling either.)
2) Which route to Skoura (in 2 days)? I see two options: either via the Tichka Pass, with a night in Telouet before reaching Skoura, or via the R307/N23 from Demnate, with a night near Megdaz before descending to Skoura. So: Tichka Pass or R307/N23? I have a slight (big) preference for the second option, even though I know the other route is very beautiful too. Of course, before deciding, we’ll check the weather and the current state of the R307/N23—does anyone know where to get info on the road conditions? But even assuming the road is "passable," is it a bit too tough in itself? In short, is it reasonable? If a kind soul could share their experience, a thousand thanks in advance.

Il semble que ce soit la saison basse donc mon souhait serait de faire un voyage itinérant sans avoir besoin de réserver les hébergements à l'avance. Dans d'autres pays, les réservations nous ont contraint et empêché de visiter des sites non prévus à notre programme. Notre liberté nous est chère, mais je voudrais aussi éviter d arriver sur place et de ne rien trouver.
Que me conseillez vous? Réserver ou pas?

Is there a way to buy tickets in Spain? Or another way to get the Algeciras–Tangier crossing cheaper? Thanks for any tips or info!
We found a guide who offers the trip from M'hamid to a camp (departure at 3 PM, tea, meal, camel ride, overnight stay, breakfast, and return to M'Hamid by 11 AM the next day via the sacred oasis). He quoted us a price of 380 € for April.
What do you think of this rate?

I’ve read through the various discussions about the country, but I’m still a bit unsure🤪: for currency exchange, I saw on the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that withdrawing currency with a bank card from ATMs is limited to 200 TND per week. There are four of us traveling by car, so that might be a bit tight! And it’s a hassle to carry a lot of cash, even if I’m not being paranoid! What do you all recommend?

Then, when I mentioned I wanted to stay for two or three weeks—maybe even a month—explaining that my trip wouldn’t be strictly touristy but more of a pilgrimage to the places of my childhood, and that it would likely be a very emotional journey, I expected a positive and warm reaction to my approach. Instead, I suddenly stopped getting replies from the three or four people I’d contacted. So now I’m wondering about the reception former Pieds-Noirs can expect...

- Does it need to cover the entire duration of the trip?
- Is this document mandatory for a hotel to rent a room?
- Is it checked during inspections?
- Is a hotel booking (e.g., via Booking.com) sufficient for the visa?
- If so, does it need to be paid in advance?
I plan to visit several cities and do one or more treks with a guide or agency.

I’d like to do a route that’s a bit different from my first stay, which was more focused on cities and culture (Tunis, Sousse, Kairouan, El Jem).
I’ll be getting around by public transport.
I’d like to head south toward Tozeur, and I saw that you can take a *louage* from Monastir to Sbeitla (2h30). I imagine it’s not too complicated to get to Tozeur from there afterward? The issue is the return trip to Monastir and safety in Sbeitla.
If this route seems too complicated, I might opt for Djerba instead, which looks simpler.
