We found a guide who offers the trip from M'hamid to a camp (departure at 3 PM, tea, meal, camel ride, overnight stay, breakfast, and return to M'Hamid by 11 AM the next day via the sacred oasis). He quoted us a price of 380 € for April. What do you think of this rate? This might sound like a silly question, but is it common to negotiate the price for this kind of thing (we're booking from France)? It’s still a big part of our travel budget.

Here’s a first draft for a 14-night itinerary during the Christmas break with two teens. We’re especially fond of hiking (nothing too extreme, though), which is why we’re drawn to the south.

- Marrakech (2 nights) - Aït Ben Haddou (1 night) - Dadès (3 nights, though we’re thinking of doing a day trip to the Todra Gorge on one of those days) - M'hamid (1 night) - Erg Chigaga (1 night) - 4 nights to slot in - Marrakech (2 nights)

Okay, I realize this involves a lot of driving, and we’re still debating the return route since we’d like to avoid the Tichka Pass in January, but going through Taroudant seems like it would add *a lot* of time. 😕

If you’ve got other suggestions for an itinerary with great hikes, I’m all ears!

Also, the 4 nights total in MRK isn’t really our preference, but since we’re arriving/departing super early from overseas, we’d like to be a bit rested before the long flight.

Another question: For hikes (aside from the desert one), is it better to have a guide with us, or are the trails well-marked?

It’ll be our first trip that’s more "off the beaten path," even though we’ve visited several countries before. Given the overwhelming amount of info, I’m feeling a bit swamped with the prep this trip requires, and I’ll admit I’m a little lost when it comes to figuring out what’s realistic to visit in two weeks 😕 So, all your tips, personal experiences, and suggestions are more than welcome!

- Which places should we prioritize during this time of year? (I’ve read that some spots are less accessible in winter?) - What’s the best way to get around? (rental car, train, private transport, buses, etc.? — just a heads-up, we’ll have a few suitcases!) - In terms of "safety," are there any areas to avoid? - Any recommendations for reliable local tour companies (beyond the big names like "Get Your Guide") that offer excursions or private transport to help us explore the country? - A doable 2-week itinerary that lets us enjoy the country’s diversity without having to change accommodations every two days?

Je vais aller passer 10 jours pleins (hors jour d'arrivée et de départ) au Maroc en mai. Au départ de Marseille, en prenant Ryanair, qui propose des vols pas chers arrivant à Essaouira, Fes ou Agadir.

Je souhaite construire un programme, avec certains impératifs : - Passer une nuit et une journée à Casablanca (pour y voir des amis) - Me balader dans le désert (avec un chameau?) - Voir de la chouette Oasis - Voir 2 ou 3 centre villes pour le côté architecture - Avoir quelques belles balades niveaux paysages, dans l'Atlas notamment (les paysages côtiers m'intéressent moins, étant habitué)

...et ne pas faire 5h de route chaque jour - 2h de route de moyenne par jour me parait raisonnable. Je louerai une voiture.

Quel itinéraire raisonnable vous pourriez conseiller? J'ai l'impression que l'arrêt obligatoire à Casablanca perturbe pas mal les plannings des itinéraires que je vois sur internet... Merci d'avance

Hello VF friends! We’re planning to leave Marrakesh by rental car—this will be our second trip to Morocco. While we want to revisit some places, we also hope to explore new regions. Here’s the start of our itinerary, which could take 2 to 3 weeks. We don’t want to cover too many kilometers each day.

- Depart Marrakech for Essaouira, stopping to visit the Inzerki beehive. We’ll stay 3 nights in Essaouira to explore the city and the surrounding area. - Head toward Tamanar or that region for another 3 nights, exploring on a star-shaped route. We’d like to see the Paradise Valley and the coast. Not really keen on stopping in Agadir.

We’ve been to Tafraoute before, but I’d love to see some *greniers* (granaries) again, so we’re considering 1 or 2 nights there.

- Tiznit for 2 nights, making our way to Plage Blanche. - Guelmin and the Tighmert oasis for 2 nights. - Tata for 2 nights, visiting Akka Iguane and other villages.

After that, we’ll head east.

We’ll arrive and depart from Essaouira, where we’ll rent a car to drive south down to roughly Sidi Ifni. The plan is to make short stops of 2-3 hours max, a mix of coastal spots and a bit inland. We’re looking for natural, quiet places that feel untouched. We loved Taghazout years ago and Larache two years back—just to give you an idea of our vibe. What spots would you recommend along this route? I’m tempted by Paradise Valley but worried it’ll be as crowded as Agadir. What do you think? Any other valleys in the area worth the detour? Two adults and two kids—we’re thinking about a 7-day trip to Morocco in mid-February. Our flights would arrive in Marrakech at 3 PM on February 13th and depart at 7 AM on the 20th. We’ve based our itinerary on travel blogs, but we’re not experts, so we’d love your advice.

February 13th: Arrival in Marrakech at 3 PM. Settle in and explore the city. Night in Marrakech.

February 14th: Full day and evening in Marrakech.

February 15th: Drive via Teoulet to Aït Ben Haddou (~3.5 hours), visit the site. In the mid-afternoon, drive (~45 minutes) to Ouarzazate. Spend the rest of the day and night in Ouarzazate.

February 16th: Morning in Ouarzazate, then drive (~3 hours) to Foum Zguid. Night in Foum Zguid.

February 17th: Early departure (~2-hour drive) from Foum Zguid to Erg Chegaga with a guide. Desert experience and bivouac. Night in Erg Chegaga.

February 18th: Sunrise at Erg Chegaga, return to Foum Zguid where the car will be parked. Drive to an intermediate stop. We’re not sure what to do at this point—any recommendations? Is there a better option than heading back to Ouarzazate? Night at this intermediate stop.

February 19th: Return to Marrakech, sightseeing, and night near Marrakech airport.

February 20th: Early transfer for a 7 AM flight.

Questions:

Do these travel times seem realistic? Any suggestions for a smoother trip or interesting stops without adding days? Is Foum Zguid a good choice for visiting the desert? What temperatures should we expect in the desert, especially at night? We’d really appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

I aimed for an excursion to the Chigaga desert from M’Hamid because it seems less touristy and allows for a more compact loop. Is that a good idea? Is the drive to M’Hamid maybe too tedious?

Nous partons bientôt pour le Maroc avec mon compagnon, et nous cherchons quelques bonnes adresses d'auberges à Merzouga (ou autour, si c'est mieux ?) proposant aussi des excursions/bivouac dans l'erg Chebbi. Nous allons voyager en bus, donc nous préférons ne pas réserver à l'avance, mais juste avoir quelques noms d'auberges en tête avant notre arrivée vers Merzouga.

Dans l'idéal, nous souhaiterions une auberge pas trop chère et plutôt familiale, qui propose une sortie en bivouac la plus "authentique" possible... (avec un bon guide, peu de monde, un peu éloigné des autres bivouacs, des dromadaires bien traités, etc) En parcourant le forum, j'ai pu lire que certains avaient été déçus par le côté "usine" de Merzouga, et aussi du fait que leur bivouac était souvent situé tout près du village, contrairement à ce qui leur avait été promis... Alors, si vous avez des bonnes adresses à nous conseiller, on est preneurs :)

I’d like to mix a bit of Marrakech (or elsewhere) with a hotel and pool, plus a trip into the desert with some beautiful dunes. How can I structure this without making the journeys too long? Is it possible to do Marrakech to the south in 2 days, stopping at lovely spots along the way? Just to clarify, I’d prefer not to rent a car, and my daughter isn’t very "adventurous." Projet : Fès, Meknès, louer une voiture pour descendre vers le Sud et rejoindre Marrakech pour le vol retour. On aime rouler dans de beaux paysages, s'arrêter dans les villages.

Que pensez-vous de cette ébauche d'itinéraire ?

Route Fès - Azrou - Er-Rachidia - Goulmina - boucle gorges de Todra et Dadès - vallée du Drâa - M'Hamid - Tazenakht - N9 puis bifurcation vers Aït Ben Haddou - Telouet - Marrakech

Est-ce que ça n'est pas trop sur 2 semaines ? Sachant qu'il va faire nuit tôt, qu'on risque d'être retardés par le mauvais temps. Mais si c'est trop juste, on peut garder la visite de Marrakech comme départ d'un prochain voyage.

Je n'ai pas réservé les vols mais on arriverait le 6/12, Fès et Meknès du 7 au 10/12, vol retour le 21/12. Il resterait donc 10 jours pour le reste.

J'aimerais connaître votre avis, vos suggestions. Pour la partie désert j'hésitais avec Merzouga. Je ne sais pas trop ce qui est le mieux pour aller faire une ballade dans le désert ?

Nous partons en amoureux début mars au Maroc (1er séjour là-bas). Arrivée le samedi midi à Marrakech, retour le samedi suivant avec avion matinal de Marrakech.

C'est peut-être un peu court mais pensez-vous qu'il soit possible d'aller durant le séjour jusqu'aux dunes de Merzouga ? Si oui, quels sont les points forts à ne pas louper sur le trajet ?

Je pensais à un itinéraire de ce type :

Samedi : France->Marrakech Dimanche : Marrakech Lundi : Marrakech->Ouarzazate->Skoura Mardi : Skoura->Merzouga Mercredi : Merzouga->Tinghir Jeudi : Tinghir->Ouarzazate Vendredi : Ouarzazate->Marrakech Samedi : Marrakech->France

Questions : 1) Le dimanche, vaut-il mieux être à Marrakech, ou sur la route vers Skoura ? (auquel cas on rentrerai plutôt le jeudi sur Marrakech pour en profiter un peu).

2) Y'a-t-il des points de chute préférentiels à privilégier sur les trajets aller et retour vers et depuis Merzouga ?

3) A Merzouga, plutôt nuit à l'auberge ou en bivouac ? (j'ai cru voir qu'il y avait maintenant des restrictions sur les bivouacs qui ne seraient plus au milieu des dunes mais au pied des dunes ?). J'avoue que profiter du coucher des couchers et levers du soleil sur les dunes, ainsi qu'une nuit bien noire pour profiter du ciel me plairait bien. Si c'est nuageux plus vraiment d'intérêt...

4) Comme on en compte pas passer toutes nos journées sur la route (on ne veut pas faire "l'excursion en 3 jours" comme proposé par plein d'agences), quels sont les musts à faire sur ce trajet, qui permettraient de rythmer de manière sympathique la journée ?

Certainement plein d'autres questions à ceux qui connaissent bien la région quand on y verra plus clair sur l'itinéraire.

Bonjour, Nous essayons de construire un séjour avec une arrivée à Agadir le 7 février 2020, genre 2 nuits sur place, puis Tafraout 4 nuits et encore 2 ou 3 nuits ailleurs. Pour un séjour de 7 à 9 nuits maxi Petites questions à ceux qui connaissent évidemment :) Peut on réserver et avoir à coup sur un bus qui va d'Agadir à Tafraout sur place (du jour pour le lendemain) ? 4 nuits dans Tafraout même, aurons nous de quoi nous balader sans nous ennuyer ? à pied ou en vélo... Nos enfants sont habitués à faire des treks (on était au Kirghizistan l'année dernière et on a fait un trek de 4 jours où on est montés à 4000m). On pense partir entre 15 et 21 jours. On aimerait faire un voyage qui mêlerait visites de grandes villes, un ou 2 treks en montagne de plusieurs jours, un dans le désert, balades, et terminer par plages... On cherche quelquechose d'assez authentique. Dans l'idéal dormir dans des tentes ou chez l'habitant pour les randos et un peu plus confortable par la suite. J'ai commencé à chercher des infos par-ci, par-là...

J'ai plusieurs questions : - connaissez vous des guides ou des itinéraires sympas? des noms d'auberges, ryads, de personnes qui nous logeraient? - nous partons fin juillet/début août, pensez vous qu'il ne fera pas trop chaud? - des endroits chouettes pas forcément très touristiques qui valent un détour?

Je vais me rendre au Maroc fin mars via l'Espagne. J'y reste jusqu'au 24 avril ou plus longtemps si le ramadan ne me complique pas trop le séjour. Apparemment il n'est pas nécessaire de réserver le bateau Algésiras-Tanger. Je pense dormir tantôt dans ma voiture (petit utilitaire Partner), tantôt dans des auberges pas trop chères. J'aimerais ne réserver aucune nuit pour conserver toute liberté.

Le guide "campings du Maroc" (Gaudini-Samson-Verhooste) est-il bien ? Puis-je espérer trouver des hébergements assez bon marché sans réserver à l'avance ? (par curiosité je suis allée sur Booking.com et çà ne m'a pas rassurée)
