Bonjour, Confinement oblige, j'essaie d'organiser tranquillement mes vacances de l'année prochaine (et oui faut bien s'occuper!). Nous aimerions faire la Thaïlande car par un gros budget mais envie de rêver. Nous avons prévu de partir 15 jours en mars en arrivant à Bangkok, y rester 2 jours puis faire 1 île et revenir sur Bangkok encore 2 jours. Je précise que nous serons 2 adultes et 1 enfant de 5 ans. J'ai fais beaucoup de recherches et je n'arrive pas à me décider sur une île ! Nous aimerions ne pas être gêné par une musique assourdissante, des plages magnifiques mais aussi faire des visites car pas la peine de faire tout ce voyage si c'est juste pour glandouiller sur la plage... Voyageant avec un enfant l'idéal serait de pas trop galerer afin d'accéder à cette île! Je sais j'en demande beaucoup mais il doit bien y avoir une île qui regroupe la plupart de ces critères ! Du coup je voudrais bien un peu d'aide s'il vous plaît 🤗

I'm "finalizing" a trip with my adventurous family (wife + 3 kids aged 16, 14, and 8) for this Easter break in Thailand (we'll be there from 04/19 to 05/01).

I'm going through the site and wanted to thank you all for the tips and insights you share on the forum. They're really valuable. But boy, it's tough to sketch out an itinerary

Of course, my backpacking route might be debatable, but I'm trying to target this path to get a first taste of the country's different "facets" and keep everyone in the family happy 😛

For this first trip, we're sticking to the classics and planning to explore a different side of the Land of Smiles in the future:

- arrival in BKK at 4 PM on 04/19 ==> leaving the same day at 7 PM for Chiang Mai (I "hesitated" with the 5:30 PM flight but was worried we wouldn't have enough time to switch from British AW to Thai Airways + airport fees + baggage + customs, etc. )

- from 04/20 to 04/23 ==> Chiang Mai with the main highlights (we've picked: Doi Suthep, Wat Pha Lat, elephant sanctuary, Doi Inthanon, the old city, Wat Chedi, Wat Phra Singh).

==> For the elephant sanctuary: any recommendations? Morning or afternoon visit?

==> It might seem ambitious, but we're considering a day trip to Chiang Rai—though it's not a must. Yes, we know it means ~6 hours of travel in one day.

- direct flight on the morning of 04/24 to Krabi ==> Railay - Phang Nga ==> this part isn't finalized yet (we won't stay in Krabi).

For those who've been there, which part of the south would be best weather-wise during this period?

We'd stay in the south until 04/28 and take a 8 PM flight to BKK.

- BKK on 04/29, 04/30, and part of 05/01 before our flight to London at 11 PM.

We'll hit the must-see/classic spots there.

If you have time to share some insights, I'd really appreciate it.

Je vais passer 2 mois en Thaïlande avec mon épouse et mes enfants en novembre/décembre 2017.

Nous connaissons la Thaïlande: nous y avons passé + de 3 mois en 2006 puis 2008 (voyages en sac à dos). Nous en gardons un très bon souvenir et souhaitons faire découvrir ce pays fabuleux à nos enfants. Lors de nos voyages (à 2), nous n'avons jamais réservé nos logements à l'avance et avons (presque) toujours trouvé des logements sympas pour vraiment pas chers à l'arrivée.

Mon principal souci est lié aux hébergements: avec 2 enfants en bas âge (5 et 8 ans), on ne peut plus prendre le risque de ne pas trouver de chambres ou de devoir se rabattre sur un endroit trop limite en termes de sécurité ou d'hygiène. On ne peut pas non plus leur faire passer la nuit dans une chambre totalement séparée de la notre (avec entrée indépendante où on ne pourra pas les entendre s'ils nous appellent). On devra sans doute parfois (souvent?) se séparer pour chacun dormir avec l'un d'eux. Une piscine pour le 1er mois dans le nord de la Thaïlande semble très importante pour les enfants sauf s'il y a des chutes d'eau, une piscine accessible ou un point d'eau pour se baigner à proximité.

Bref, ça ne laisse pas tant que ça de logements qui pourraient nous convenir. Les prix sur internet me paraissent excessivement chers. Quelqu'un peut-il me donner une idée des vrais prix sur place?

Dans le nord: Surin, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya et Sukhothai.

Dans le sud: Koh Phi Phi quelques jours (à Long Beach), dans la baie de Phan Nga, à Koh Lipe et Koh Lanta. Nous ne sommes sûr que de Koh Phi Phi et Koh Lipe. Nous cherchons d'autres endroits pas trop chers avec du snorkeling facile pour les enfants sur les plages de la côte d'Adaman: n'hésitez pas à nous faire part de vos coups de coeur.

Faut-il vraiment réserver à l'avance ou est-il toujours possible de trouver de meilleurs rapports qualité/prix sur place?

Nous préparons actuellement notre premier voyage en Thaïlande pour le mois de janvier. Nous aimerions rester: - 5 jours à Bangkok - 4 jours vers Chiang Mai - 1 semaine farniente sur une belle plage du sud.

Pour Bangkok et Chiang Mai nous cherchons un hotel bien situé (accessible en transports en commun, autour des lieux touristiques à visiter) aux alentours des 50 euros la nuit. Pour la semaine farniente nous n'avons pas de localisation précise, si vous avez des recommandations de villes ou d'iles (petits endroits paradisiaques), sans budget précis, un hotel 4 ou 5 étoiles, bord de plage.

Pour les 4 jours dans le nord, nous avons pensé à Chiang Mai mais si vous avez d'autres lieux à nous recommander, nous sommes preneurs. Merci de votre aide!!

J'envisage de découvrir l'Asie et notamment Hong-Kong (3 jours) et surtout le Thaïlande du 16 février au 9 mars 2019. J'ai préparé un itinéraire mais je souhaitais vous le soumettre afin de recueillir vos conseils et recommandations. Certaines étapes sont peut-être trop rapides ou trop chargées (malheureusement nous ne disposons que de 19 jours) et pas les plus logiques. Je voyage en Asie du Sud est de novembre à mars cet année avec ma compagne et mon frère, et nous prévoyons de louer une voiture pour parcourir l’isaan pour une durée de 3semaines environ. On a déjà visité le pays 3semaines l'année dernière mais en restant sur les sentiers battus (BKK Sukhothai CM et koh chang principalement).

J’ai 26 ans et je conduis depuis mes 18 ans en France (2 et 4 roues) je suis de nature prudent et patient mais n’ai ni l’experience de la conduite en Asie ni celle de la conduite à gauche.

Nous pensions atterir à Bangkok, y rester 2 jours avant de louer une voiture à Suvarnabhumi et la rendre a Chiang Mai après les 3 semaines.

Je lis souvent que sans expérience de la conduite en Thaïlande c’est une très mauvaise idée mais si on ne se lance pas comment l’acquerir ?

Qu’en pensez vous ? Est ce une bonne idée de louer à BKK où la circulation est réputée particulièrement archaïque ? Ou est ce que je devrai par exemple monter en 1er lieu à Chiang Mai et la louer la bas pour faire le chemin dans l’autre sens?

Je suis en train de préparer mon itinéraire pour notre voyage de 1 mois en Thailande. J'ai déjà posé quelques question dans certains thèmes et c'est dans la préparation du circuit " nord" qui constituerait la première moitié de notre périple, que j'ai pleins de doutes ... 🤪

On commencerait par Bangkok ( arrivée le matin ), environ deux jours sur place puis ce genre de trajet m'interesserait : ( donc en environ 13 jours ) Bangkok ( 2 jours ) -- Ayuthaya (1 jour )-- Sukhothai ( 1jour) -- Chang Mai ( 5 jours) -- Chang Rai ( 3 jours) . Déjà me conseillez vous de compléter et / ou enlever des étapes pour passer plus de temps dans chaque endroit ? ( Pai, Mae Hong son..).

- J'hésite à prendre un train de nuit de Bangkok à Chiang Mai ( donc on oublie Sukhothai et Ayuthaya sur la journée depuis Bangkok...) et de faire tout depuis Chang Mai ou de faire l'itinéraire cité au dessus tout en Bus.

- Autre option : récemment j'ai aussi pensé à louer une voiture ( des avis ? ) j'ai vu que c'étais pas si cher donc pourquoi pas ... J'ai pensé au scooter peut-être de Chiang Mai aussi si nous n'avons pas de voiture.

Y'a-t-il des endroits pas loin de ceux que j'ai cité que vous avez fait et que vous me conseillez? 😎 J'ai également pensé au PN de Don inthanon. Pour rejoindre ensuite le sud, savez vous si Chiang Rai dessert en avion Phuket ou Krabi ( pour éviter de repasser par Chang Mai )

Hi everyone, I’m starting to plan my next trip to Southeast Asia this winter (2.5 months, leaving in early December), and here’s a rough outline of my route—I’d love to share it with you and hear your thoughts and tips.

- I’ll start in Bangkok and already have three spots I’ve marked: Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, and Uthai Thani (I haven’t been to any of these places yet). - Next, I’d like to cross the country from west to east to reach the Laos border. I’d love suggestions for any interesting stops along this route—I don’t know this part of Thailand at all... - Then I’ll head into Laos, probably at Savannakhet (you can usually get a visa at the border). - > I’m tempted to spend a week in Hoi An, Vietnam, since I loved that city and the area when I visited two years ago. No visa needed for Vietnam now, so it could be a nice little detour. On the map, it doesn’t look too far, but I know you’ve got to be careful with these things, and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea. Any opinions on this? - Back to Laos (maybe via Dakta), and I’ll head south along the Mekong, probably doing the Bolaven Plateau loop that I missed last time. Then Paksé, the 4,000 Islands... I’ve been before, but I’d happily go back. - Crossing into Cambodia, I’ll follow the Mekong down to Phnom Penh (I know this area and love how untouristy it is). From there, I’ll probably spend a few days in Kep (quieter than Kampot). Still undecided, though. - Then back to Thailand (BKK), likely by plane from Phnom Penh since the borders between the two countries are currently closed (plus, let’s be honest, Cambodian roads... ;-). We’ll see how things look when the time comes. - After that, I’d like to explore southern Thailand, taking it slow with short hops. I’ve got my eye on Khao Sok National Park, and I’ve heard good things about Krabi... Again, I don’t know this region well, so any info or tips would be great.

So, I think this should be doable in 2.5 months, especially since I prefer short hops of 300 km max to avoid getting too tired, and I like staying 2-3 days in each place to explore. Plus, I’ll take a week off to relax if I find a spot I love—maybe by the sea for some real downtime.

Nous recherchons plages paradisiaque au calme avec possibilité de snorkeling... Je suis déjà allé à Koh Phi-phi et j'y retournerai mais je cherchai aussi une uatre destination Dans le guide Lonely Planet, il recommande en numéro 1 les iles Trang, et spécialement Koh Ngai. 1) pourriez-vous me dire si c'est effetcivement un bon choix ? ou y a-t-il d'autres îles à proximité ? 2) je vois qu'il y a moyen d'y aller en ferry/speedboat avec Tiger line depuis Phuket Chalong en faisant escale à Koh Phi phi...mais je lis beaucoup de critiques sur cette compagnie (retards, ...). Avez vous une autre compagnie ou moyen de transport depuis Phuket ?

Our flights are booked, and we’ll arrive in Thailand at the beginning of January.

Originally, we were supposed to spend 14 days there. But after booking the flights and seeing the prices, we’ll now be there for 20 days instead.

Our initial plan was: 2 days in Bangkok 1 day in Ayutthaya 4 days in Chiang Mai 6 days around Krabi

So we have 7 more days to fill. What do you recommend?

An extra day in Bangkok? Adding more days in the north? If so, where? Exploring another region, like Kanchanaburi or Cheow Lan Lake? Traveling north in stages instead of taking the overnight train?

A few extra details about us: For us, vacation isn’t about relaxation—we love walking, exploring, and packed days don’t bother us. Hiking for hours and doing active things is what makes us happy. That said, we also enjoy visiting villages and towns if they’re worth the detour. In Thailand, we’d like to visit temples too. We’re early risers, so our days tend to be long. 🙂 In short, we like to keep things moving during our trips. 😉

Unfortunately, seeing terraced rice fields isn’t possible in January. I read there are rice fields around Sukhothai. Are they green in January?

In the north, do you recommend Doi Inthanon, Huai Nam Dang, or Doi Chiang Dao National Parks? Which one is the most beautiful and best for January?

Prenons comme exemple : La Thaïlande

1) Après la sortie de l'avion ?

N'ayant jamais voyagé bien loin, je n'ai jamais pris l'avion, et dans mon cas présent, admettons que je le prenne et une fois sorti de l'appareil, me voilà dans un pays inconnu, ou personne ne parle Français. Comment rejoindre son Hôtel sans se perdre ? Ou effectuer le change d'argent ? Comment avoir accès a internet sur son téléphone ? ( J'ai entendu qu'il vendait des puces téléphoniques a l'aréoport )

2) Les activités ?

Voilà, enfin arriver à l'hôtel, mais maintenant je suis perdu ! Quand je vois des gens sur les réseaux sociaux qui visitent des grottes, vont dans des lacs magnifiques etc.. je me demande bien ou ils ont pu obtenir cette information et comment s'y sont-ils rendu.

Comment trouver des activités à proximité sans trop s'éloigner ?

3) Le bon endroit ?

Ce serait un peu bête de réserver un hôtel dans un endroit complètement isolé, loin des activités, et des zones touristiques.

Comment trouver le bon endroit afin de profiter de ses vacances ? 4) Les choses utiles à savoir ?

Etant très vigilant sur mes affaires, j'ai vraiment peur de me faire voler mes affaires pendant des excursions ou des activités, surtout si les papiers importants s'y trouvent.

Que me conseillez vous d'important lors des sorties ? Uniquement téléphone et un peu de liquide sur soi ?

I really loved Thailand, but it was too touristy for my taste. So I'm hesitating about going back and wondering if Cambodia or Vietnam would be less crowded with tourists...

C'est court mais je n'ai pas pu avoir mieux :-( Nous sommes 2 adultes, sans enfants donc plus facile à bouger... J'aimerais passer quelques jours sur la plage en fin de voyage (4 nuits je pense) mais pour le reste j'hésite : faut-il se contenter de Bangkok ou une escapade (peut être vers chiang mai) est-elle envisagable ? Combien de jours rester à Bangkok ? Je n'ai pas envie de tout faire au pas de course non plus... Faut-il laisser tomber Chiang Mai (est-ce que je ne vais pas le regretter ?), et alors d'autres suggestions ?

Pour l'instant j'en suis là : J1 : arrivée 15h Bangkok J2 et 3 : Bangkok (Ayutthaya ?) J4 : départ pour Chiang Mai (peut être tardif ? genre 21h arrivée 22h) J5 et 6 : Chiang Mai J7 : transfert vers ko Ngai (départ 14h-arrivée 19h) J8 à 10 : nager avec nos amis les poissons ;-) J11 : retour sur Bangkok : matin midi ou soir tout est possible... J12 : départ matinal pour la France

Bonjour, Je compte voyager en Asie ce mois de janvier pour arriver le 13 Janvier à Bangkok ensuite prendre le même jour avion pour Phuket rester 6 nuit dans un hôtel à Bang Tao Beach.

Puis prendre un avion vol direct à Kualalampur rester 2 nuits pour enfin prendre avion et arriver à Bangkok passer 4 nuits puis repartir au Canada ou j'habite.

On est un couple avec un bébé qui aura 1 année le mois de janvier, ma question concerne la durée aprés quitter les iles.

Les gens qui connaissent les deux pays : -Est-ce correct de rester 4 nuits à bangkok et 2 nuits à kualalampur ? - Ou bien il vaut mieux 3 nuits à bangkok et 3 nuits à kualalampur ?

Je laisse 6 nuits à Bang tao beach car on aime beaucoup la plage, le doute par contre est le temps donné à bangkik t kualalampur.

Je me suis renseigné sur le forum, il existe "boss cheaper than taxi" mais ils me demandent 2000 baht... pas si cheap que ça.

Du coup, même si ça me prend le double (4H) je me tâte pour les transports en commun. Mais je ne sais pas comment choper le bus direction Khao Sok depuis Phuket aéroport.

>> Auriez-vous un itinéraire / recommandation sur le meilleur moyen de choper un bus ou autre ?

Je suis un habitué de ce forum, mais cette fois-ci je me retrouve à court d'idées et j'aurai besoin d'un coup de pouce! J'explique ma situation: j'ai possibilité de partir 10j de fin Novembre à début Décembre avec un pote, dans l'idéal voir des choses nouvelles et dépaysantes et construire un parcours qui ne soit pas trop fatigant (habituellement, je fais partie de ceux qui "court" un peu sur leur itinéraire 😉), avec un peu de plages idéalement.

Vu la période, j'ai posé mon dévolu sur le trio Thailande, Cambodge et Vietnam du Nord. Pour info, j'ai déjà fait la Thailande 2 fois et je connais donc BKK, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui et Khao Lak, le reste m'est inconnu.

J'ai déjà fait quelques recherches. J'étais d'abord attiré par le Vietnam, mais j'ai le sentiment que ce pays nécessite plus de jours car il faut couvrir des distances pour en profiter donc 10j peut-être difficile. A confirmer? Un combiné Thailande et Cambodge (avec Angkor)? Angkor en vaut-t-il le coup? Bref, je suis preneur de tout idées.

Hello, I’m heading to Thailand for two weeks at the end of February with my family. I went there 20 years ago. I’d love your thoughts on a relaxed two-week trip that lets me show my kids the joys of travel while also taking time to unwind (after all, it *is* vacation! :)) I’m planning to spend 2 days in Bangkok, then take the overnight train to Chiang Mai (so my kids can experience that) and stay for 2-3 nights. After that, I’ll fly to Phuket for a few nights, then head to Koh Lanta for a few days before returning to Phuket to make my way back to Bangkok for the last two days before departure. Tons of people travel for two weeks during this time—any recommendations? So far, I only have my round-trip flight ticket to Bangkok. Thanks in advance!

Habitués des réservations avec "booking.com" où nous payons à l'hôtel en arrivant , je viens de faire des réservations sur Agoda pour la Thailande , la Malaisie et Singapour , car les prix me semblaient plus intéresssants , mais en ayant choisi l'option " payer plus tard " , l'hôtel va nous débiter directement sur notre compte quelques jours avant notre arrivée , donc je suppose ( ?? ) que notre banque va nous prélever des frais pour paiement dans une devise étrangère ....Donc , au final , les prix qui me semblaient intéressants , ne le sont finalement peut-être pas tant que ça ... Meilleur choix ??booking.com ou Agoda.?

Our family trip (2 kids, boys aged 6 and 9) is coming up fast, and I have a few questions. I’ve seen that quite a few people on this forum are active about Thailand, so I hope you can help me out :-)

- I have a Free mobile plan with a good amount of data abroad (35GB). Do you know if the Bolt or Grab apps work well with a French SIM? I’ve read that the app might not work if the SIM isn’t Thai, but I’ve also seen French travelers using their SIMs in Thailand, so I’m not sure what to think.

- What tips do you have to avoid traveler’s diarrhea (especially for our 6- and 9-year-olds)? I’m already preparing them to wash their hands often and not put their hands in their mouths or brush their teeth with tap water (they’re still little and might not control the water well in their mouths). Are there certain dishes or food stands to avoid? Are ice cubes really off-limits too?

- We arrive in Bangkok at 9 AM, and we have a French-speaking guided tour scheduled for the next morning (all day). The itinerary isn’t finalized yet with the guide—I need to get back in touch soon. What do you recommend doing on that first day, which might be tiring after the long flight and jet lag? Our hotel has a nice pool, but I’d love for us to get out and explore a bit :-)

- Is the Grand Palace really best visited early in the morning to avoid crowds?

- I’d love to visit a night or floating market, but they’re all on weekends. Unfortunately, we’re in Bangkok from Wednesday to Saturday morning (then we take the train to Ayutthaya in the morning). Is there a market on Friday night? I saw Chatuchak, but Friday night doesn’t seem like the best time—is it still worth going?

I’ve looked for answers to these questions, but I’m either not finding a definitive answer or I’m overwhelmed by all the things to do/see in Bangkok. So, I’m hoping your advice or experiences can help me out!

Hello, After a lot of searching, exchanging ideas, and thinking it over, I’ve decided to go back to my original plan of spending two weeks in Bangkok. From January 19th to February 2nd. I’ll also take a quick trip for one night/two days to Ayutthaya (and return to Bangkok, where I’ll have kept the apartment I booked), and possibly the same for Kanchanaburi, depending on how I feel once I’m there—whether I find something more interesting in Bangkok or nearby. The key word is: taking my time to take photos, observe, taste, savor (in every sense of the word), and most importantly, not rushing. Beyond the must-see tourist spots, I’d love to wander around the city and maybe within a 40 to 50 km radius for a day trip to discover unusual and lesser-known streets, houses, temples, markets, gardens, and more. I’ll also be spending two weeks in Chiang Mai and two weeks in Nan. I’m open to any suggestions. Thank you so much!

nous allons marier notre fille ainée en mars prochain et nous avons décidé de lui offrir à plusieurs son voyage de noce. Nous n'avons pas le temps ni les compétences pour nous occuper d'un itinéraire en Thaïlande sur 2 ou 3 semaines ni de réserver les hotels (catégorie 3 ou 4 étoile soit 100 -150 euros la nuit) Nous aimerions que le couple découvre le pays avant de se poser sur une ile une semaine. Luxe et volupté 🙂

J'ai fait des recherches sur VF et sur booking , je n'ai rien trouvé (à nos dates ) à moins de 35€. Nous n'aurons pas le temps de chercher sur place . Des recommandations ? Merci d'avance .

We’re an adventurous couple in our 70s starting to plan around 3 weeks in Thailand in January 2027.

We’re not yet at the nitty-gritty stage, but we really don’t like wasting time on luggage, airports, or long journeys.

So, we’ll probably spend a few days in Bangkok, then head up to Chiang Mai by car at a relaxed pace, and fly back to Bangkok.

Any thoughts on this plan and, most importantly, recommendations for the Bangkok to Chiang Mai route that should take about 5 days?

We have the opportunity to get away for a little two-week trip at the very beginning of January, just the two of us, without our kids. Because of the kids, we haven’t traveled much in Asia, so we’d love to take advantage of their absence to explore Thailand. Even though I’m used to planning our trips, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed this time.

We’d like to visit Bangkok and head south by renting a car (we have an international driver’s license, and my husband has driven on the left before). I’ve managed to sketch out a rough itinerary that might work for us, and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

To set the scene: we haven’t booked anything yet, we don’t like spending hours on the beach (though a little time at the end of the day is fine), we love walking and sightseeing, and what we enjoy most is being independent (so if we can avoid group tours, that’s ideal).

After that intro, here’s the rough outline of our itinerary: Day 0: Paris-Bangkok flight Days 1, 2, and 3: Bangkok (Wat Pho, Grand Palace, Wat Arun, markets, boat ride through the khlongs, Jim Thompson House) Day 4: Ayutthaya Day 5: Pick up a rental car and head to Sam Roi Yot Day 6: Sam Roi Yot and Prachuap Khiri Khan Day 7: Drive south – overnight near Surat Thani Day 8: Uthayan Tham Khao Na Nai, then drive to Ao Nang (staying near Tubkaek) Days 9 and 10: Boat trips (Railay, Ko Hong, etc.) Day 11: Drive to Phang Nga with a few stops along the way Day 12: Boat tour (mangroves and Ko Tapu) Day 13: Drive to Phuket Airport and return flight

A few questions and doubts: - I’d considered Cheow Lan Lake but read some not-so-great reviews (crowds, just 3 viewpoints, and the rest was meh). What do you think? - Can we start from Ao Thalane Pier for trips to Ko Hong and Ko Tapu? - I’m not thrilled about driving through Bangkok, but I’m not sure where to rent a car west of the city (since we won’t return it to the same place, I assume it’s best to target rental companies at airports).
