Bonjour à tous, après de nombreuses recherches au sujet du "camping sauvage sur ile inhabité en Asie", je me retrouve a poser ma question sur ce forum car très peu d'informations ou même de retours d’expériences sont disponible sur internet.

J'ai pour projet de partir 3 semaines avec un groupe d'ami sur une Île inhabité au mois de SEPTEMBRE 2020. Idéalement vis à vis de la saison, l’Indonésie, la Malaisie, les philippines paraissent être les endroits idéaux (saison & nombre d'île confondu).

Si je devais résumer vulgairement notre projet, il s’agirait de nous faire déposer en bateau sur une île inhabité avec nos ressources (eau, nourriture, tente & équipement indispensable a la survie) pour 3 semaines d'aventure, puis a la fin de cette période, le bateau reviendrait nous chercher pour nous ramener à la civilisation. C'est un rêves d'enfance que nous souhaitons réaliser ensemble en étant totalement conscient de la difficulté de ce projet un peu fou. Nous ne sommes pas débutant dans le domaine & la galère est notre recherche commune hihi.

Nos questions sont les suivantes : Est-il possible de faire du camping sauvage sur ces îles inhabités ? La population/gouvernement est-elle/il contre ce type de voyageur ? Quels sont les législations ? ...

Bien évidement si vous avez des retours d’expérience dans d'autres pays ou autres, si vous connaissez des personnes qui pourraient potentiellement nous renseigner ou même des liens que j'aurais loupé a ce sujet, merci de me les renseigner. Ca serait une aide précieuse dans l'organisation de notre périple.

My teenage daughter and I are heading to Sulawesi in July-August for 5 weeks. We don’t know Indonesia at all—this will be our first time. When we travel, we’re not used to booking accommodations in advance because we love improvising based on our mood and what comes up in the moment... For Sulawesi, though, from what I’ve read, I’m a little worried we might get stuck here and there, especially in more touristy spots, if we leave everything open... I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!

For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I’d love to hear about your experiences—what should I see? How long should I stay at each stop? I travel at a relaxed pace and won’t be renting a scooter. I’ve been wrestling with this question for weeks now: Flores or Sulawesi?

I’m leaving in July for 24 days, followed by 2 weeks around Makassar/Wakatobi for work. For the first part, I’m traveling with my family (my partner + 3 kids aged 6 to 14).

I’ve had a long-time dream of Komodo, but I’m worried it’s become super touristy... though the crossing to Maumere still sounds amazing. I’m also not thrilled about all the internal flights.

On the other hand, since I’ll be in Sulawesi anyway, I’m thinking a crossing from Gorontalo to Luwuk via the Togians (maybe even a few days in Banggai) + a detour to Toraja (which I visited 10 years ago) could be an incredible trip too.

For my family, this is their first trip to Indonesia, so I’d love it to feel *mythic* ;).

Any advice is welcome—I’m really struggling to decide! I know it’s a choice between two great options...

Bonjour à tous, Les billets d'avion pour la Malaisie sont réservés pour l'été prochain. Départ en famille (nos fils auront 11 et 12 ans) pendant 4,5 semaines à partir du 24 juin. Nous sommes allés en Indonésie cet été (la rédaction de la suite du carnet est en cours 😎) et nous avions adoré la visite de ce pays. Avec le recul, même si nous ne regrettons rien de notre programme, quelques jours supplémentaires de détente auraient été appréciés. Par conséquent, j'envisage de commencer notre voyage par quelques jours dans les îles (histoire de se poser après une année de collège pour nos fils et de travail pour nous - option snorkeling indispensable !) et également à la fin de nos vacances (cette année, nous avons fini nos vacances par un trek dans la jungle à Sumatra ; alors souvenir extraordinaire avec des images plein les yeux, mais "un peu" fatiguant tout de même 😉). Mon mari, consulté de temps à autre pour l'organisation 😛, souhaiterait même ajouter une étape îles/snorkeling au milieu de nos vacances !

Longue introduction pour vous soumettre mes premières réflexions et solliciter vos avis : - je pense que nous irons aux Perenthian et aux Tioman, ça nous aidera à nous faire un avis sans refaire deux fois le même endroit 🙂 - je serais bien allée à Kapas mais je lis des avis très divergents sur la durée à y prévoir (je pense consacrer trois jours à chaque séjour insulaire - je réfléchis à aller à Pulau Weh au nord de Sumatra (vol de 3 heures jusqu'à Banda Aceh depuis Kuala Lumpur + ferry). Nous y serions volontiers allés l'été dernier mais nous n'avions pas suffisamment de temps - j'exclus Langkawi en raison de la mousson prévisible à cette période-là de l'année

Des avis sur les îles ? Un classement en terme de fonds marins ? Nous sommes allés à Komodo l'été dernier, autant dire que la barre est haute 😉

Petite précision : nous visiterons uniquement la péninsule, réservant la découverte de Borneo à une autre fois

In early July, we’re heading to Indonesia for a solid three weeks as a family (my partner and I are in our fifties, and we have two daughters aged 17 and 20). We’ll be arriving and departing from Denpasar. Our itinerary is still entirely up in the air, and we’d like to explore islands other than Bali (we’ve already been there a few years ago).

I’d love to gather your tips and great recommendations to help us plan our route. For now, we’re thinking of visiting Lombok, Flores, and the Komodo archipelago. Here are some of our questions: - I visited Lombok myself back in 1999. I loved it, but I’ve been reading very mixed reviews in recent travel journals. Some are as enthusiastic as I was back then, while others are much more lukewarm (due to the overly strict and visible influence of the island’s governor on the population and because of massive hotel projects—I’m not sure if they’re on hold, underway, or completed). What’s the current situation? Is Lombok still a must-visit? And do you have any tips (hotels, places to visit, health, etc.)? - Still on Lombok, I did the Rinjani trek back then. I remember the hike wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t as tough as what I’ve read in quite a few recent travel journals... My partner and I are in decent shape, but that’s about it, and especially, my partner and our two daughters really don’t like the cold. What’s your experience with this trek? And do you have a trekking agency to recommend? (If we do it, I think we’d want to make sure we have good support, including quality gear, tents, jackets, etc.) - Flores and Komodo would be a completely new experience for all of us. Any tips and recommendations are welcome (sightseeing, accommodations, transport, etc.)! In particular, we’d like to explore the Komodo archipelago with a trusted agency that will take the time to show us the archipelago’s treasures in good conditions (safety and "decent" comfort). Do you know of any such agencies? - Are there other nearby islands you’d recommend? Any advice on places to visit and where to stay?

We’ll have three weeks on the ground... and we like to mix sightseeing with downtime where we just enjoy the moment. So we’re not looking for an overly packed itinerary, but still something rich (no point traveling so far just to lie on a sunbed all day ;-))

Our current plan (19 days on the ground, 7 stops): - 4 Nights (3 days) in Ubud 2 days for rice terraces / activities (Tegallalang, Campuhan Ridge, Monkey Forest, Bird Park, coffee plantation, market (?), dance "pestacle," cooking class and/or spa) 1 day with a driver for the Temples (Pura Gunung Kawi, Tirta Empul Spring, Pura Mengening, Goa Gajah...) - 2 nights in Sidemen (1 day for Pura Kehen + Batur Caldera + Pura Besakih and 1 day to relax in the rice terraces) - 3 nights on Gili Meno (Rest and beaches) from Padangbai - 2 nights in Amed (1 day from Padangbai with the Abang rice terrace and Tirta Gangga baths, and the next day a boat tour in Amed) - 4 nights in Pemuteran (1 day for transfer and rest, 1 day to visit Kawah Ijen, and 2 days of snorkeling at Menjangan Island) - 2 nights in Munduk (1 day with the Dayang rice terrace and the 3-waterfall hike, 1 day at Pura Ulun Danu Bratan) - 2 nights in Jatiluwih (1 day in the rice terraces, and on the last day, we’ll stop by Pura Taman Ayun in Mengwi and Pura Tanah Lot before catching our red-eye flight).

J'ai volontairement évité la presqu'île de Bukit car nous ne sommes pas adeptes de la fête balnéaire.

Je me demande si aller 2 jours à Permuteran se justifie ? ou mieux vaudrait rajouter 1 nuit à Ubud et 1 nuit ailleurs ? Difficile de faire des choix .... J'hésite aussi entre prendre des chauffeurs au fur et à mesure ou me mettre en contact avec un guide dès maintenant et qu'il nous organise les visites, les transferts et les commentaires...

Un petit compte rendu sur l'ile de Siau où nous sommes allés fin aout. Ile facilement accessible de Manado par le ferry rapide 4 h ou bateau de nuit environ 7 h de trajet .

L'île de SIAU est magnifique, ici pas encore de tourisme , végétation incroyable, population acceillante. Pleins de choses à y voir, notamment le volcan karangetan, volcan en éruption lors de notre passage, volcan très actif, le voir la nuit est vraiment indescriptible.

L'ile possède des tarsiers que l'on peut voir dans leur élément naturel. Accompagné on a pu en voir plusieurs en passant dans la jungle.

Les sources d'eau chaude sont surprenantes.

La plage de mahoro est a voir , elle semble magnifique mais nous n'avons pas pu y aller car beaucoup de vagues lors de notre séjour.

Ile spécialisée dans les noix de muscade on en voit partout dans la végétation et a sécher sur le bord des routes.

Rien que pour le volcan cela vaut vraiment le coup d'y aller, un coup de coeur pour cette île qui pour le moment est loin des circuits touristiques habituels et pourtant tellement facile d'accès depuis Manado.

Voir la lave, entendre les explosions du volcan, voir les habitants le matin surveiller leur volcan vraiment une aventure exceptionnelle.

Nous avions un guide sur place, Dominik Derek (Tél watsapp : + 62 853 986 669 99 ) est indonésien très investi dans l'ile, une personne adorable très cultivé et parlant bien l'anglais. Il nous a permis de vraiment profiter facilement des trésors de Siau et a été à l'écoute tout le temps de notre séjour.

Bonjour à tous. Étant en préparation pour mon prochain séjour d'un mois en janvier prochain, 3 destinations m'attirent, mais j'hésite dans mon choix. Pour ceux qui ont fait les 3 destinations, quel sont les avantages et différences? Ce que je recherche c'est 1-le cout sur place (pension oblige),2- la sécurité 3- la gentillesse des gens et la richesse culturelle. Je voyage sac à dos, en louant scooter ou transport en commun, et ne recherche pas le party mais bien la tranquilité et le quotidien des gens, de belles plages et paysages grandioses. Voici ou j'en suis dans mes réflections: Indonésie et Phillipines= trop grand pour un mois (donc encore plus indécis sur l'itinéraire) Le Sri Lanka me rebute pour une seule raison , l'hygiène (mes craintes sont-elles fondées?). Par contre il semble facile de s'y déplacer et d'en faire le tour en un mois. Bref, après avoir consulter différents forum et m'etre procurer les guides de chaque destination mentionnée, le ressenti de personne y ayant séjourné ou qui y vivent m'éclairerais peut-etre. Hi everyone, I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027. 10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta. We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo). I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself. But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal... Thanks for any tips or experiences you can share!

Hi, I’m traveling with my 13-year-old son in June and July 2025 for 6 weeks—2 weeks in Flores and 4 in Sulawesi. I don’t want a super "roots" trip because long transport times eat up too much time, so I’d prefer to use only private or shared drivers whenever possible since I’ve read that public transport really slows you down. That said, I don’t want to hire the same driver for the whole trip because I think it’d be way over budget.

My first question is about transport times and approximate costs. I’d like to double-check the times I’ve seen because it’s not clear to me whether they’re for private vehicles or public buses: - Labuan Bajo – Denge (Wae Rebo): 5–6 hours ???? - Denge – Ruteng: 3 hours ???? - Ruteng – Bajawa: 4 hours ???? - Bajawa – Moni (Kelimutu Volcano): 3.5 hours ???? - Moni – Koka Beach: 1.5 hours ???? - Maumere – Koka Beach: 2 hours ????

My second question is about the Maumere–Makassar ferry. It’s impossible to find a clear answer—PELNI’s website shows only about 2 ferries per month, but Rome2Rio mentions a daily departure (with a return the next day, like the Labuan Bajo–Makassar route, I assume). I’d really like to avoid flying since it’s so expensive on this route.

My third question: I’ve read that flight tickets are more expensive when bought from France than from Indonesia. Has anyone else heard this?

Je prévois de rejoindre les Moluques du Sud depuis la Thaïlande à la mi mai. J'ai lu que ce n'est pas la période la plus favorable mais je souhaiterais savoir si c'est vraiment insupportable, sachant que je n'y serai que 2 semaines (avoir 7 jours de pluie sur 15 c'est pas dingue... 😄).

Est-il envisageable de faire Banda et Kei en 15 jours tout en ayant à l'esprit que les trajets en ferry peuvent être parfois très espacés? J'ai déjà quelques idées pour les Iles Kei, mais quels seraient les endroits à ne pas louper pour Banda?

Hi everyone,

Family of 4—2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 15) who are well-traveled. We’re planning a 15-day trip to Indonesia and would love your thoughts on our itinerary. We love discovering local culture, food (!!), seeing beautiful landscapes, and keeping an active pace. We’re not the type to lounge on the beach for 5 hours or spend ages by the pool when we’re halfway across the world. Also, we try to avoid places "ruined" by mass tourism (like Holbox in Mexico, which we loved 10 years ago but not at all on our last visit, or Phi Phi in Thailand, completely destroyed by mass tourism).

Special note: we love traveling by train :)

Here’s what we’ve planned so far:

**Day 1** Arrival in Jakarta, then domestic flight to Yogyakarta. Settle in Yogyakarta.

**Day 2** Borobudur in the morning, then exploring nearby villages.

**Day 3** Prambanan in the morning, followed by culinary discovery / market / local vibe in Yogyakarta.

**Day 4** Train to Jombang, then driver/bus to the Bromo area. Overnight stay.

**Day 5** Sunrise at Bromo, exploring the volcano and sea of sand. Relax in the afternoon.

**Day 6** Travel to eastern Java, then train, ferry, and road to reach Sidemen in Bali.

**Day 7** Sidemen

**Day 8** Sidemen

**Day 9** Sidemen

**Day 10** Transfer to Gili Air (car to the port + fast boat?)

**Day 11** Gili Air

**Day 12** Gili Air

**Day 13** Transfer to Ubud

**Day 14** Ubud

**Day 15** Return to Bali airport, flight to Jakarta, then international flight.

Does this itinerary seem coherent for a family? Does it feel too packed or well-balanced? Would you make any changes to certain stops, durations, or transfers?

Je souhaite partir en Indonésie en Juillet 2020. J'ai déjà passé 15 jours à Bali en 2016.

J'aimerais avoir une idée du parcours à faire sur l’île de Java.

A Bali j'ai aimé le nord de Ubud (Tegalaland) mais pas du tout le sud. Ubud c'est limite "overbooké" mais ça passe encore... Cette fois-ci ce sera le Nord de Bali.

Concernant Lombok je ne connais pas du tout...

A vrai dire la grande interrogation pour le moment c'est JAVA... J'ai juste été voir le Kawa Ijen de nuit en 2016 mais sinon aucune connaissance de l’île..

Si vous avez un conseil de parcours sympa sur Java, je prends...

I arrive in Jakarta on July 24th and want to head to Flores Island the next day. Do you know which airlines offer direct flights to Labuan Bajo (or elsewhere)? Is it possible to book tickets directly on Indonesian airline websites (I get the feeling that when connecting from France, access is blocked...)

Also, are there direct flights from Maumere or Ende back to Jakarta for the return trip, or do I have to go back through Labuan Bajo?

Mon parcours : - Bali / Maumere : 2 nuits au Coconut Garden : Excellente sortie en mer pour découvrir Babi Island et Pangabatang Island - Maumere / Moni : 1 nuit au Bintang lodge cafe : Arrêt indispensable à Koka beach pour déjeuner - Moni / Bajawa : 1 nuit au Manulalu (superbe) ; Bien sur le Kelimutu - Manulalu / Belaraghi : nuit chez l'habitant ; 100% authentique et Zéro touriste - Belaraghi / Ruteng : nuit au SunRice Homestay ..... Exceptionnel !!! - Ruteng / Labuan Bajo : 3 nuits au Sylvia Beach Villa (Une très bonne surprise)

Une ile fabuleuse, à découvrir d'urgence ! Une population d'une extrème gentillesse. Des fleurs partout, des paysages magnifiques et des villages superbes.

Seule déception : la visite de l'ile de Rinca pour voir les fameux varans... Bof bof bof !!!

Nous avons fait la traversée de Florès avec guide et chauffeur . Notre guide Thomas Zumat (+62 821 4773 5075) (komodotrails@gmail.com) a été formidable et je le recommande vivement. J'avais trouvé ses coordonnées sur VoyageForum et je remercie ceux qui me l'ont fait connaitre. Thomas parle bien anglais (qqs mots de français). Il a un caractère doux et sérieux. Toujours de bonne humeur il adore blaguer et sourire et sait se rendre discret quand il le faut. Il connait parfaitement son sujet et adore partager son savoir. Thomas était accompagné de Linus, chauffeur expérimenté et prudent, ce qui est très rassurant quand on aborde les petites routes de montagne... Linus parle également un anglais correct, ce qui permet d'avoir aussi un contact sympathique avec lui. Ces deux là ont bien sur énormément contribué à la réussite de notre voyage. A Labuan Bajo, Nicolas nous a également déniché un très bon bateau pour notre excursion dans l'archipel, à un prix très inférieur à tout ce que nous avions vu sur place.

A propos du SunRice Homestay à Ruteng : La guesthouse en soi n'a rien d'exceptionnelle. Elle est cependant d'une propreté irréprochable. Elle se compose de 4 ou 5 chambres ,2 wc et 2 douches. Les repas et Pdj se prennent sur la terrasse. Ce qui est vraiment exceptionnel ici, c'est le Maitre des lieux ; Jeff le boss qui vous accueille comme si vous étiez un cousin éloigné qui vient lui rendre visite. On se sent très vite " à la maison" et Jeff sait mettre à l'aise ses invités et créer rapidement un climat chaleureux . La nourriture est excellente. Le petit déjeuner est compris dans le prix de la chambre et le diner est "offert" (Vous donnez ce que vous voulez) . Jeff propose à ses invités de l'accompagner à 5h du mat pour une randonnée de 2 heures dans de magnifiques rizières afin d'assister au lever su soleil. Cette option facturée 40 000 Idr (2,50 €) est à ne rater sous aucun pretexte !!! La gentillesse de Jeff restera un de nos plus beaux souvenirs de notre voyage.
