I’ve received proposals from three agencies with a driver and French-speaking guide. The one I’ve chosen, which is often mentioned in this forum, suggests this itinerary, and I’d love to hear your thoughts: HANOI, arrival on 04/29/26, 2 nights BAC HA, 1 night HA GIANG, 1 night NAM DAM, 1 night DONG VAN, 1 night BAO LAC, 1 night BA BE, 1 night HANOI, 1 night NINH BINH, 2 nights HALONG BAY (BAI TULONG), 1 night HUE, 2 nights HOI AN, 3 nights SAIGON, 1 night CAN THO, 1 night SAIGON, 1 night I’d like to know if the stop in Nam Dam is worth staying overnight or if we should just visit and continue to Dong Van. Je rentre du Vietnam. Je suis déçue du Nord. On est sans cesse sollicité pour acheter. Si on ne veut pas, on se fait agresser verbalement. On nous colle les objets sur les bras et on insiste lourdement. Et cela sans arrêt. De plus, on vous demande en service de faire de la monnaie, enfin l'inverse, d'échanger un billet en euros contre des pièces et là encore on se fait arnaquer. On veut rendre service et on en est de 16 euros sur 20. On vous montre les pièces par 10 alignées, seulement la première est de 2 euros, le reste sont des pièces THAI. Même couleur, même taille. Faites attention, je n'ai pas été la seule à me faire avoir. Mais le pire c'est le harcèlement pour acheter. Vraiment in-suportable. Si je reviens au Vietnam, j'éviterais HANOI. Ensuite, exemple vous achetez pour 300 00 dongs, on vous fait croire que vous avez donné un billet de 10 OOO dongs à la place de 100 000, alors que vous n'avez en poche que des 100 000. Encore une arnaque. Mon avis sur les Vietnamiens : des voleurs qui profitent du tourisme. Mais un jour, les touristes n'iront plus.

I’m planning a trip of about three months in Vietnam starting in September 2026. I’ll arrive in Hanoi, where I plan to stay for around two to three weeks to explore the city at a relaxed pace, as well as several nearby spots: historical heritage, museums, traditional neighborhoods, markets, and craft villages.

After that, I’d like to gradually make my way toward the center and south of the country, depending on the people I meet, the weather, and opportunities along the way. I’m particularly looking forward to another longer stop in Ho Chi Minh City—probably two to three weeks—to discover the city’s modern history, Cholon, the markets, Southern cuisine, and take a few day trips, like to the Mekong Delta or natural areas accessible from the city. The rest of the itinerary is intentionally flexible: I’d rather linger in an interesting place than stick to a rigid schedule.

I’m especially interested in culture and history, museums, markets, local food, craft villages, and slightly less touristy spots. I also enjoy walking around a city, observing daily life, chatting over coffee, or occasionally going out in the evening. That said, I’m not looking for a very active trip or one focused mainly on nightlife.

I’m a calm, curious, and fairly independent person. I can be a bit reserved at first, but I’m sociable once I feel comfortable. I’m particularly interested in IT, artistic creation, and personal projects, and I enjoy quiet conversations about a variety of topics.

I’ll be traveling on a fairly budget-friendly basis: youth hostels, local transport, street food, and small restaurants, with the occasional splurge on an activity or slightly more comfortable accommodation. Of course, everyone would keep their own budget and independence, while sharing certain expenses when it makes sense.

The idea would be to start by meeting in Hanoi for a visit, a meal, or a few days together, then simply see if our paces and interests align. There’s no need to travel together for the full three months—it could be a day, a few days, a few weeks, or longer, depending on how well we get along. I like sharing parts of the journey and activities while still having the freedom to take time alone or do some sightseeing separately.

I’m open to meeting people, with a preference for a female travel companion. My approach is mainly friendly, without any particular expectations, though I’m open to a connection developing naturally.

The idea is a circuit of several days with a guide and driver around BUON MA THUOT, PLEIKU, and KONTUM—or just a driver, or even a circuit with two easy riders, though they’re hard to find in this area. Autrian étant en collaboration avec Air France, les départs se font du terminal 2D. Je ne vais pas m'attarder sur l'état de ce terminal qui est tout simplement horrible!🏴‍☠️

Un petit tour au terminal 2C, voici un B777 d' Air France.

L'enregistrement: est effectué par un personnel désagréable: 3 guichets sont ouverts. En réalité seul 2 fonctionnent! eh oui! la madame du troisième est occupée à discuter alors que nous sommes nombreux à vouloir enregistrer. Cela donne vraiment une piètre image du personnel au sol, c'est dommage...

L'embarquement: s'effectue à l'heure. La chef de cabine est très sympathique. Des journaux sont disponibles au niveau de la passerelle d'embarquement et seront de nouveau proposés à bord.



La cabine est colorée: les sièges sont verts, le sol d'un bleu léger tout comme les cloisons. Sans oublier les hôtesses d'un rouge...🤪 On aime ou on n'aime pas, cela ne m'a pas vraiment choqué.

Le départ s'effetue sous la pluie.

Hi, just a quick note mainly for Samsong, even if he’s still giving me the silent treatment. I’ve been in Nan since yesterday and... I love it! So thanks, Thierry. It’s exactly the kind of place I’d been dreaming of... Even if communication is a bit tough, it’s not impossible. They don’t even know the most basic English words! Everyone laughs and they’re the first to pull out their phones to... translate. They’re even quicker on the uptake than I am. And then there’s the time I say Nan (pronounced "Nane"). They don’t understand me. After a while (sometimes a long one), they reply: "Ah, Nan?" (pronounced "Nane") 😵🤳😃

The town is exactly how you described it back in 2022. Though I’m surprised to find so many trendy, slightly intellectual "Cafés." Apparently, coffee—excellent everywhere—is king in Nan. It feels like a university town. And it seems pretty lively at night! But for now, I’m going to bed early. I caught a nasty cold, which didn’t stop me from walking 12 km this morning. But I came back to my accommodation by 3 PM (gorgeous and luxurious with top-notch service for 800 baht—even a cute local welcome gift this morning, plus other unexpected touches like a bottle of honey and chrysanthemum flowers for tea. The lady must’ve guessed I was coming down with something yesterday). I thought about going out for dinner but didn’t have the energy. I think I’ve got at least 39°C fever...

Anyway, I’m sending you this message, Thierry, because you mentioned a daily bus to Chiang Rai, so I didn’t look into it. But now it’s a real problem—no buses to Chiang Rai, only taxis. At least 2,500 baht for the cheapest one! I’ll check the bus station directly tomorrow. Online, it’s all taxis, no buses. I’d like to explore the countryside/mountains if I can find an affordable driver. Any ideas for destinations or itineraries? Thanks.

Hi! Sri Lanka has announced it could run out of fuel in the coming weeks if the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked. The government has implemented a mandatory four-day workweek to save oil, and there are long lines at gas stations due to fears of an early shortage. In Vietnam, the government has warned all airlines that flights will need to be reduced due to a lack of kerosene. The country imports two-thirds of its jet fuel from China and Thailand, but both countries have now banned exports out of fear of domestic shortages. The state is asking airlines to plan ahead and park aircraft to drastically reduce operations, starting with domestic flights and then international ones. International carriers will also need to cut back on their rotations. This will begin in the coming days. 🙁

Mon compagnon et moi-même sommes en ce moment en tour du monde.

Nous devions visiter le Vietnam en Mars pendant 1 mois, cependant après avoir été en Birmanie trekker au milieu des rizières sèches en friches, nous aimerions réajuster notre arrivée au Vietnam pour voir un paysage de rizières different, à savoir en miroir (remplie d'eau) ou avec pousse, ou verte, voire jaune.

J'ai cru comprendre qu'en fonction des régions nous pouvons nous attendre a voir les rizieres dans un etat different. J'ai pu lire (et je trouve des infos contradictoire), que par exemple dans la region de Sapa, les rizieres commence a etre remplie d'eau fin avril - debut mai, et du coté de Ninh Bin les rizieres sont jaunes prete a la recolte fin avril and du cote du Delta Rouge elle serait verte a cette saison.

Nous pensons decallé à Mai, J'aimerais donc un retour sur ce à quoi s'attendre si nous voyagions en Mars vs. Avril vs. Mai dans les differents regions, basé sur temoignagne.

Notre parcours devait etre le suivant: > Ho Chi Minh > Danang > Hue > Hoi An > Phong Nah Caves > Ninh Binh > Ha Long or Bai Tu Long Bay > Hanoi > Ha Giang > Sapa

Nous pouvons aller du Sud au Nord ou Nord au sud en fonction. Nous savons qu'il n'y a pas que les rizieres mais c'est egalement un de nos criteres, ca fait deja 3 mois que nous voyageons en Asie.

Mon compagnon et moi partons pour quatre semaines au Vietnam cet été, je commence donc à réfléchir à notre itinéraire... Premier voyage en Asie pour nous, avec un impératif : voir enfin le mythique Mékong !! Nous aimerions y passer une semaine, histoire de vraiment en profiter, car nous aimons prendre notre temps. Idéalement, nous aimons passer deux nuits au même endroit pour vraiment nous poser et nous imprégner des lieux et de la vie locale. Voilà ce que nous avons pensé faire (c'est somme toute assez classique, je crois), je m'en remets à vous pour vos conseils... - Jour 1 : Trajet HCMV - Vinh Long. Un petit tour dans Vinh Long puis ferry vers An Binh. - Jour 2 : An Binh. - Jour 3 : Trajet vers Chau Doc, puis ballade dans la ville et visite d'un village Cham ? - Jour 4 : Visite du marché flottant de Chau Doc, puis mont Sam. - Jour 5 : Nous aimerions visiter la forêt de Xeo Quyt... Mon compagnon étant passionné d'histoire, et moi de nature, nous avons vraiment envie d'aller là-bas (un condensé des tunnels de Cu chi et de la réserve de Tra Su en somme 😛) mais je peine un peu à trouver des informations. Quelqu'un a-t-il un retour d'expérience sur cette visite ? Est-il facile d'y aller depuis Chau Doc ? Est-ce que cela nécessiterait de faire étape la nuit antérieure à Cao Lanh ? Serait-il plus judicieux de placer cette visite à un autre moment dans notre itinéraire dans le delta ? Nuit à Can Tho. - Jour 6 : Visite du marché flottant de Cai Rang, puis ballade dans Can Tho avant de prendre l'avion le soir vers Danang.

Est-ce un itinéraire trop chargé ?

Et une dernière petite question : est-il nécessaire de réserver les vols internes (ici Can Tho - Danang) longtemps à l'avance ? C'est également une des raisons pour lesquels je voudrais "boucler" notre itinéraire dans le delta, alors que le reste de notre voyage pourrait rester plus improvisé...

Mon compagnon et moi prévoyons un voyage sans durée déterminée qui débuterait en octobre par le Vietnam que nous avons déjà parcouru plusieurs fois. Cette fois nous voudrions découvrir le Ha Giang sans se presser. Mais est-il possible de faire cela en autonomie ? Utiliser les transports publics, trouver des hébergements simples mais avec l'électricité car nous en avons besoin la nuit, trouver de quoi manger, etc... J'ai déjà trouvé sur ce forum des informations intéressantes mais c'était pour des courts séjours ou pour des circuits à moto. Nous voyageons sac à dos mais pas à moto. Et combien de temps faudrait-il consacrer à cette région en excluant Sapa et Lao Cai que nous connaissons déjà. Je suis sûre que des passionnés vont pouvoir me répondre. Merci d'avance

Avec mon compagnon, nous allons partir au Vietnam de mi juillet à mi août. La différence de prix des billets multi destination et d'un simple aller et retour est tellement importante que nous avons opté pour un billet aller et retour de Ho Chi Minh.

Pour revenir de Hanoï, est-ce facile de revenir par train ? Combien de temps cela peut mettre ? Ou devons-nous privilégier l'avion ? Est-il possible de réserver l'avion un mois en avance en arrivant au Viet Nam ? car de France, je trouve des prix affolants alors que j'ai entendu dire qu'il était question d'une trentaine d'euros.

Bonjour, mon compagnon et moi voyagerons au VIETNAM au mois d'octobre et je cherche une agence / contact local pour organiser un trek hors des sentiers battus, sportif, au contact de la population.

Je souhaiterai aller dans les montagnes du nord ouest, région de Sapa et/ou Bac Ha, éventuellement Ha Giang. Je souhaiterai aussi aller au sud de Hanoi, pour faire la baie d'Along terrestre et la réserve de Ngoc Son Ngo Luong, voir le parc de Pu luong. Nous sommes très sportifs et je souhaiterai vraiment éviter tant que possible la voiture (sauf pour les liaisons bien sûr). J'ai bien conscience qu'il faudra dans ce cas se limiter à une toute petite partie et j'ai donc éliminé les "grandes boucles" classiques. Nous avons l'habitude de la randonnée sportive, du VTT et nous pouvons aussi faire de la moto. Je pensais arriver à Lao Cai avec le train de nuit, et après faire la région de Sapa (très touristique je sais ..) ou Bac Ha.. J'aimerai monter dans les montagnes (Ha Giang, Dong Van ) mais je crains un très long retour et la nécessité de faire bcp de voiture. Qu'en pensez vous ? quel coin nous conseillez vous en priorité ? je n'arrive pas à me décider entre Bac ha et Sapa... Ha giang et sa région valent vraiment le coup? Nous avons 12 jours pour faire les montagnes du nord ouest puis retourner à Hanoi et aller vers la baie d'Along terrestre. Nous finirons ensuite par 3 jours à Phu Quoc.

Mon compagnon et moi-même envisageons de partir 1 mois au Vietnam en février 2015. Nous venons de lire des récits de voyages ou autres commentaires qui nous laissent un peu perplexes. Nous aimons l'authenticité et voyager en dehors des endroits touristiques même si pour cela nous devons manquer de confort. Le luxe pour nous, c'est de s'émerveiller à 2. Rien de plus.

Pouvez vous nous renseigner sur ce pays qui nous tente beaucoup. Est-il autant touristique que certains le disent ? Est ce l'arnaque à tous les coins de rue ? Est-il facile de loger chez l'habitant ? Est-il possible de visiter des lieux authentiques et non pas faussement authentiques ?

Nous avons un peu voyagé : Madagascar, Malaisie, Sri Lanka plusieurs fois, Nicaragua, entre autres. Nous aimons partir en vol sec et voir sur place. Est ce possible au Vietnam ?

Désolée si les réponses à mes questions existent déjà sur le forum mais je voudrais avoir des réponses actuelles qui ne datent pas de quelques années.
