Nous faisons des simulation pour louer une voiture d'un concessionnaire situé à Fez et la remettre à Marrakech. Jusqu'à présent, nous avons trouvé NAJM-car qui expédiera une voiture à Fez où nous en prendrons possession.
Le prix nous semble raisonnable, mais nous nous demandons si des usagers de ce forum ont eu des expériences positives ou négatives avec ce loueur. Si vous avez entendu parlé d'un loueur à Fez avec possible remise à Marrakech, n'hésitez pas à le nommer!
De façon générale, y a t-il un(des) point(s) à surveiller lors de la location et de la réception du véhicule? Le carburant diesel est-il moins cher que l'essence au Maroc? Peut-on en trouver dans à peu près tous les postes de vente de carburants routiers?

The plan: - 20 days in the south solo, going off the beaten path (looking for simplicity, encounters, discovery, and breathtaking views) - 10 days in the north with my wife and her 8-year-old daughter (so more coastal, some sightseeing—more "classic") When: August (I know it’s not the best time, but no choice) Duration: 20 days in the south + 10 days in the north (might seem short) Distance: 3,000 km in the south over 20 days. Rental vehicle to be decided (4x4?) (I’ve done a Portugal road trip from Lille—5,000 km in 3 weeks—and Italy several times, usually around 4,000–5,000 km in 3 weeks).
Route (I need to plot this on a map like Maps.me or Google...): Start in Marrakech -> Tinmelt -> Icht -> M’hamid El Ghizlane -> Agdz -> Khamlia -> Errachidia -> Tinghir -> Imilchil -> Boulmane Dadès -> Ouarzazate -> Telouet -> Demnate -> Arousse -> Ahansal Gorges -> Tilouguite -> Bin El Ouidane -> Oued El Abid Gorges -> Ouzoud Waterfalls -> Marrakech
On paper, this all seems "doable"... I’ve never been to Morocco before. It’s my first time. I’ve heard that Morocco is best experienced "slowly and peacefully," taking your time. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these points—that’s the whole point!
I’ve got a few questions and could really use your help with your on-the-ground knowledge and experiences: Is this really doable? Are the roads on this route passable? Any tips? Thanks so much for your help and for any time you can spare.

J'organise un road trip avec mes deux filles (13 et 16) au Maroc cet été (2019).
J'ai loué une fiat panda, toutes les logan de Marrakesh sont apparement deja prises, je n'ai pu avoir que ça (je m'y prends trop tard), j'espère que ca ira quand meme...
Voici grosso-modo notre itinéraire, et nous avons 13 jours pour aller de Marrakesh à Essouira en passant par :
-Marrakesh ( 0 nuit, on part direct de l'aeroport vers 18h) -Ouzoud (1 nuit) voir la cascade le matin, et partir - Ait Bouguemez ( 2 nuits) (une ballade dans la vallee, peut etre une nuit en bivouac ?) -1 étape ? -Imilchil (2 nuits) (il parait que c'est très beau) - Errachida ( 1nuit) -Merzouga (1 ou 2 nuits) (mes filles veulent passer une nuit sur les dunes, bon...) - Gorges du Dades (1 ou 2 nuits) (pareil, une petite ballade, se poser un peu) - Ait Benadou (1 nuit) 1 étape ? - Essaouira (on y retrouve des gens)

Je vais aller passer 10 jours pleins (hors jour d'arrivée et de départ) au Maroc en mai. Au départ de Marseille, en prenant Ryanair, qui propose des vols pas chers arrivant à Essaouira, Fes ou Agadir.
Je souhaite construire un programme, avec certains impératifs : - Passer une nuit et une journée à Casablanca (pour y voir des amis) - Me balader dans le désert (avec un chameau?) - Voir de la chouette Oasis - Voir 2 ou 3 centre villes pour le côté architecture - Avoir quelques belles balades niveaux paysages, dans l'Atlas notamment (les paysages côtiers m'intéressent moins, étant habitué)
...et ne pas faire 5h de route chaque jour - 2h de route de moyenne par jour me parait raisonnable. Je louerai une voiture.
Quel itinéraire raisonnable vous pourriez conseiller? J'ai l'impression que l'arrêt obligatoire à Casablanca perturbe pas mal les plannings des itinéraires que je vois sur internet... Merci d'avance

What’s the easiest and most budget-friendly way to make the Marrakech-Essaouira trip and then Essaouira-Marrakech (straight to the airport, I think) a few days later? Taxi? Bus? Or just rent a car? But then what do we do with the car while we’re in Essaouira? Could it be useful for exploring interesting sites outside the city while we’re there?

We’re a small group planning a road trip loop with a rental car, starting and ending in Marrakech. Two weeks at the end of October.
We’d like a mix of nature discoveries, villages, ksars (ideally some photogenic and/or abandoned ones), a few hikes, and if possible, one or two nights sleeping on a rooftop/terrace in a village.

If you’ve got any experience to share about cold winter nights in the desert while camping, that’d be super helpful!

J'ai déjà fait cette boucle il y a 4 ans, et elle était magnifique. J'aimerais y retourner le 24 mars pour 6-7 jours et avoir vos avis SVP sur : les logements, l'état de la route et une ou deux options de visite .
et la location de voiture : recommandez-vous toujours autant Concorde car ? ou plutôt une autre société maintenant ?
Voici la boucle:
Jour 1 : arrivée à Marrakech et on part direct à Ijoukak au gite chez Husseine, via la route tu Tizi'n test
Jour 2 : Ijoukak - Tafraoute, via Aït Baha, dodo à la Maison traditionnelle...ou à l'Arganier ? ou autre chose ?
Jour 3 : Tafraoute
Jour 4 : Tafraoute - Taliouine, dodo à Escale rando (ou à défaut Auberge Souktana)
Jour 5 : Taliouine - Foum Zgid , dodo à la Maison d'hôte Hiba
Jour 6 : Foum Zgid - Tamnougalt, dodo à l'auberge chez Yacob
Jour 7 : Tamnougalt - Pause Telouet (mais où? j'avais été frustrée de passer si vite par ces paysages sublimes ?) et on retourne rendre la voiture à Marrakech (ou à Rabat si c'est possible ?)

We’re torn between a riad in the medina and one on the outskirts (south of Marrakech) with the advantage of peace and quiet, a big pool for the kids, but it’s far (10 km).
We’ll have a rental car. Is it easy to park near Jemaa el-Fna square, for example? Are the rates public (so we know what to expect)?
This would save us from taking taxis multiple times a day since we’ve been told it’d cost around 12 € each way. The bill could add up quickly.
Generally speaking, would you recommend staying in Marrakech itself, in the old city, or in the surrounding area? We’ll only be there for two nights with a 10-year-old girl and a 14-year-old teen who both want to explore the city but also enjoy the pool.

👉 Do you know if it’s possible to book without a guide? 👉 Or do we have to buy tickets on-site? (We’re a little worried about crowds and lines, especially with older folks in the group.) 🍽️ Restaurants / meals We’ve spotted the Grand Bazaar Marrakech for a meal. 👉 Any thoughts? 👉 Could you recommend other restaurants in the same budget? Hello, we’re a family with two kids aged 3 and 7. We’re heading to Morocco at the end of February for 11 days and would love to take a road trip starting from Marrakech down to the south of the country, exploring the Atlas Mountains, sleeping in the desert, and then making our way to Agadir—all over about 3 days. We’re looking for something authentic and typical. Travel agencies are offering us pre-packaged bus tours at sky-high prices, but that’s not what we’re after at all. Could you help us out? Dans 10 jours, mon conjoint et moi partons pour un road trip de 2 semaines depuis Marrakech. On est plutôt baroudeurs et on aime surtout les beaux paysages, les randonnées et rencontrer les locaux. Nous n'avons pas réservé de logements. Si vous avez des coups de cœur (pour la beauté du lieu ou pour l'accueil, les rencontres), on est preneur!
On aimerait avoir votre avis sur notre itinéraire : est il bien "cadencé" ? Si on risque de trop courir, que vaut il mieux supprimer ? Ou conseilleriez vous d'autres étapes ? Est ce que toutes les routes sont accessibles en Logan Dacia ?
J1 : Arrivée Marrakech 9h30, récup de la voiture de location direction Aït Benhaddou avec passage par le col de Tizi n Aït puis Tizi n Tichka et Telouet => Des arrêts ou visites sur le chemin que vous conseillez ?
J2 : Visite Ait Benhaddou + Balade avec guide dans Palmeraie de Skoura. Nuit à Skoura
J3 : Vallée des Roses. Nuit à Boulmane Dades => Avec notre voiture, je crois que le mieux est de faire l'aller retour jusqu'à Bou Tharar, non ? Avez vous des arrêts et/ou petites randonnées à faire seul à conseiller ?
J4 : Vallée et Gorges de Dades. Nuit à Boulmane Dades => idem, il vaut mieux faire l'aller retour en allant jusqu'à Aït Toukhsine, non? Des arrêts et/ou petites randonnées à faire seul à conseiller ?
J5 : Palmeraie Tinerhir et Gorges Todra. => A faire à pied ? en voiture ? seul ou avec guide ? => Nuit à Tinghir ou Tinejdad?
J6 : Souk de Tinerhir le lundi matin, place des chameaux. Direction Erg Chebbi/Merzouga. Nuit dans le désert => Des conseils d'agence ? Y en a t il qui propose de rester 2 jours dans le désert ? (mais est ce que ça a un intérêt ? On a peur de trouver le désert très beau et d'être déçu de ne rester qu'1 nuit ;-)
J7/J8 : Retour du désert. On veut rejoindre Tafraoute. Où vaut il mieux passer ? Que voir en chemin ? (vallée du Draa ? Tizi n Tinififft ? Observatoire de Tamegroute) Où faire une étape pour dormir ?
J9/J10 : Tafraoute. Gorge d'Aït Mansoun / Rando autour de Tafraoute / Balade dans la zone avec les pierres peintes en bleu => Ce coin a l'air très beau. Comment le visiter : avec guide ? seul ? en partant en randonnée sur au moins 2 jours ? ou en revenant dormir à Tafraoute ? Vaut il faire l'impasse sur une des vallées/gorges des J3/4/5 pour passer plus de temps à cette étape ? (si oui, que retirer?)
J11 : Route R104 vers Legzira. Plage avec Arches
J12 : Remonter vers Essaouira. => Que voir en chemin et où dormir ? (on n'a pas trop envie de grosses villes, type Agadir) Le parc national Souss Massa ? Taroudan ? Vallée Paradis ?
J13 : Essaouira
J14/J15 : Marrakech => Conseils de Hammam à faire en couple ?
J16 : Avion 10H

J9/J10 : Tafraoute. Gorge d'Aït Mansoun / Rando autour de Tafraoute / Balade dans la zone avec les pierres peintes en bleu => Ce coin a l'air très beau. Comment le visiter : avec guide ? seul ? en partant en randonnée sur au moins 2 jours ? ou en revenant dormir à Tafraoute ? Vaut il faire l'impasse sur une des vallées/gorges des J3/4/5 pour passer plus de temps à cette étape ? (si oui, que retirer?)

Hi everyone, just back from the 8-day Marrakech-Merzouga loop by car, and I’d love to share my feedback in case it helps some of you. Big thanks to all the forum members who kindly answered my questions!
Trip from Friday the 20th to Saturday the 28th, flying out of Marseille with Ryanair
- Landed late around 8 PM local time, exchanged some currency, and the rental agency (Magdaz Car, which I highly recommend) delivered the car straight to the airport with some great route tips (don’t blindly trust Maps.me). The night drive was a bit intense—lots of people out and about due to Ramadan. Stayed at Riad Midhou (really nice) on the outskirts of the city, which made it easy to hit the road the next morning.
- Day 1: Marrakech to Skoura. The drive was smooth, roads are great, but watch out for roundabout priority—it’s different from France. Beautiful route. Quick stop in Ouarzazate for lunch, Ait Benhaddou for the view (stunning), and the Fint Oasis (meh...). Spent the night at Taloute Ecolodge in Skoura, overlooking the palm grove (super cozy).
- Day 2: Skoura to Todgha Gorges via the Valley of Roses and Dades Gorges. Adventure-packed day! We crossed the Valley of Roses (pretty, but not as amazing as I’d hoped) and took a "shortcut" recommended by the *Routard* guide to reach the Dades Gorges without backtracking. After asking locals, they said, "It’s doable." Turns out it was a narrow, rocky cliffside track—no way to turn around! A stressful moment, with a nice scratch on the bumper and a good sweat. Fine in an SUV or 4x4, but not in a Logan... Then the Dades Gorges (nice) and a detour through the north to reach Todgha from above. Gorgeous mountain road and a quick stop on some snow patches—touching African snow! Spent the night at *Les Gorges de Todgha*—great place, except for the bathroom. The Todgha Gorges themselves are stunning!
Day 3: Todgha to Merzouga. Beautiful drive, and the view of the erg (sand dunes) on arrival is breathtaking! Totally worth the trip. Explored the desert and stayed at *Café du Sud* hotel just outside Merzouga—absolutely gorgeous.
Day 4: Merzouga. Desert exploration and chilling by the hotel pool (with a bonus sunburn). Lunch in Merzouga—I recommend *Dakar*—their lemon tajine was amazing. Spent the night in the hotel’s luxury camp, including a camel ride. The camp was beautiful, but I was disappointed we weren’t deeper in the desert given the price (100 € per person, including dinner, breakfast, and camel ride).
Day 5: Merzouga to Tamnougalt. Gorgeous route. First fine (a supposed stop sign...) but the officer was super nice—only 150 MAD. Stayed at *Kasbah Maktob*, right in the middle of ruins—really unique and beautiful!
Day 6: Tamnougalt to Marrakech. Another beautiful drive, and a second fine (minor speeding), same amount. Crossed a windy mountain pass during a big storm—traffic was blocked in the opposite direction (not sure why), causing massive jams for those coming from Marrakech. A few downed cables, but nothing serious. Arriving in Marrakech was tricky—hard to find the rental agency, and the traffic was intense (watch out for GPS trying to send you through the medina). Ask the rental company to meet you somewhere quiet. They didn’t even notice the damaged bumper... Stayed at *Riad Zifamo* in the heart of the medina. Big change of pace—so many people and so much hustle!
Day 7: Marrakech. Lots of wandering through the souk and a quick trip to Gueliz (not essential). A few tips for the medina: watch out for scooters weaving too fast, always negotiate prices (aim for at least 1/3 off what they ask, unless it’s a small amount), don’t buy spices—more expensive than in France! Head to the *Carrefour Market* in Gueliz for better prices. In the end, not many truly unique items—you’ll find more or less the same things everywhere.
Day 8: Early morning flight. We’d booked a car to the airport from the riad, but a taxi would’ve been fine—plenty available even at 7 AM. Security wasn’t an issue (we had lighters and liquids over 100 ml).
A few extra notes: Pleasantly surprised by the road quality—just a few potholes here and there, but overall very drivable. Watch out for the police—they’re everywhere! The car cost me 30 € per day (with the *Routard* discount) and about 90 € in gas. No safety concerns, no harassment, and no stomach issues, despite the ice in Marrakech. Breakfasts at the hotels were usually hearty—take advantage! The timing (end of February) was perfect—pleasant daytime temps and cool nights. Since it was Ramadan, nothing unusual to report, except it was hard to find food outside Marrakech at lunchtime. If I did it again, Merzouga is a must, but I’d spend a night in a real desert bivouac, deeper in the dunes. My stops (no more than 300 km a day) were well-paced, and with so few cars on the road, it wasn’t tiring—even though I’m not usually a fan of driving... Happy to answer any questions!

We arrive Friday evening (7:45 PM) in Marrakech, and I’d love to head south first thing Saturday morning.
Would you have any ideas for accommodation with breakfast included that could help me avoid the center of Marrakech and let me quickly get back on the road? I checked Booking but didn’t find many options... Do you think it’s better to pick up the car right at the airport in the evening or have it delivered to the hotel the next day? 6 novembre: Départ vers 8h - route jusqu'à Timzzilite pour faire les lacets... Est-il nécessaire d'aller plus loin sur cette route ou bien si nous aurons eu l'occasion de voir amplement de beaux paysages jusqu'à cet endroit? Arrêt aux doigts de singe lors du retour vers Boulmane. Y a-t-il des courtes et intéressantes randos d'environ 2 heures aux doigts de singe ou ailleurs ds la région? ? Arrêt pour le lunch ? Route vers Ouarzazate avec arrêts Vallée des Roses et Skoura. Hébergement noté: Maison d'hôtes Dar Farhana, Riad Ksar Aylan, Hôtel Riad Amlal.

Hi there, in mid-January my wife and I are leaving from Marrakech heading to the Atlas (Essaouira ==> Dades ==> Merzouga ==> Draa Valley) before finally making our way to Taghazout near Agadir for 2 or 3 days.

I’m hesitating about renting a car, and since I don’t know the road conditions, I’d like to know if a Dacia Sandero is enough for this kind of trip?

J'ajoute ma pierre à l'édifice...Location chez RENTALCARS pour séjour au Maroc en Avril 2020...Séjour annulé cause Covid 19...Donc je me retourne vers rentalcars pour annuler ma réservation...Précision faîte que lors de la location ils se font fort de dire que le remboursement est intégral en cas d'annulation avant les 48 heures de la prise en charge du véhicule..et donc je demande l'annulation et on me propose deux alternatives..soit faire une nouvelle résa sans frais...soit on me taxe d'office 46 euros sur le remboursement...NE VOUS LAISSEZ PAS IMPRESSIONNER...NE CONFIRMEZ PAS L ANNULATION ET ALLEZ SUR LE CHAT POUR VOUS PLAINDRE DE TELLES PRATIQUES...ET CA MARCHE..Au début du chat j'ai fait le candide en faisant croire que j'allais louer un véhicule et que donc je voulais savoir si le remboursement était intégral en cas d'annulation 48hrs avant..Quand on m'a écrit que Ouiiiiii...bien entendu le remboursement était intégralement remboursé..alors j'ai fait état de la réservation à annuler pour laquelle on me proposait de me taxer 46 euros...grand blanc pour mon interlocuteur qui a fini par me dire au bout de dix minutes que c'était en fait l'agence de location qui imposait ces 46 euros...sauf que cela n’apparaît pas dans mon voucher...On m'a donc propose quand même de me rembourser intégralement...et j'ai reçu la totalité des fonds 48 heures après..A leur décharge il y a bien des frais d 'annulation prévus dans leur conditions générales...mais franchement..qui les lit avant de confirmer une réservation !!!!On se fie surtout à leur pub et...à la lecture de cette pub on lit que ce remboursement intégral se fait DANS LA PLUSPART DES CAS..sauf qu'il est impossible de savoir dans quels cas il y a ou pas des frais d'annulation ...bref..RENTALCARS N EST PAS TRÈS CLAIR DANS SA dEMARCHE..et il ne faut pas hésiter à marchander...Bon courage

I aimed for an excursion to the Chigaga desert from M’Hamid because it seems less touristy and allows for a more compact loop. Is that a good idea? Is the drive to M’Hamid maybe too tedious?

What do you think?
I aimed for an excursion to the Chigaga desert from M’Hamid because it seems less touristy and allows for a more compact loop. Is that a good idea? Is the drive to M’Hamid maybe too tedious?
Open to your great tips if there’s room for optimization!

I already know Morocco a bit (8th trip), but not much in winter (early January).
Reading travel journals made me want to do the following 12-day circuit (10 days on site): Marrakech (my flight is booked) - Ouzoud Waterfalls - Tessaout Valley - Skoura - Aguinane Oasis - Taroudant - Marrakech
Has anyone already done this itinerary? We’re renting an ordinary car. Is the R307 road passable in winter? Same question for access to the village of Megdaz? And finally, can we reach Aguinane Oasis from the N10 without too much trouble? Is it worth the detour? Any other suggestions for the circuit?

Je suis un peu à la dernière minute... Je serai au Maroc (Casablanca) au début mars pour 9 jours avec mon ado de 16 ans. C'est un retour au Maroc après 12 ans, donc nous avons déjà fait le circuit des cités impériales.
Nous allons louer une voiture, suggestion location grandes marques internationales ou locales?
Je pensais partir dès notre arrivée vers Essaouira, puis vers Marrakech, ensuite Merzouga et retourner vers Casablanca. Bien entendu, nous allons faire des arrêts dans quelques villes entre ces grands points d'intérêts. Vos suggestions sont les bienvenues.
Est-ce trop de distance à parcourir en peu de temps? Mon fils veut absolument passer une nuit dans le désert, des alternatives à Merzouga?
Comme je n'ai rien d'arrêté encore, je suis très ouvert à vos suggestions d'itinéraire et/ou d'activités et/ou de logements.
