Hi everyone,
Third trip to Morocco. For a 4-day getaway, we’ve chosen Agadir in early March. I’m looking for advice on where to stay, while being close to the city center and the seaside. Riad? Apartment? Any recommendations?
We’re landing in Agadir, so I assume we’ll need to take a taxi—anyone have a particular one to recommend?
Also, we’d like to do a quad bike outing—any agencies you’d suggest?
Thanks for your replies!
Florence and Bruno
PS: We’re planning a 10-day road trip at the end of May/beginning of June to explore northern Morocco

For our first post-COVID trip outside Europe, we’ve chosen a North African destination: Morocco.
I’ve already visited this country four times, but my partner has never set foot there.
Since we both prefer wide-open spaces over even imperial cities, our itinerary will focus on nature and villages.
Starting point: Casablanca, easily accessible with a direct flight from Lyon.
Our ride: a Dacia Logan, perfect for navigating roads turned into Swiss cheese by corruption and the weather.
Stops: Demnate, Aït Ben Haddou, the Dadès Gorges, N'Kob, Zagora, the Todhra Gorges, the Merzouga dunes, Tinejdad, Agoudal, Lake Bin El Ouidane, the Vallée Heureuse, the Ouzoud waterfalls, and finally El Jadida.
Season: November, when there’s no tourist pressure. Sure, it can be chilly, but what peace and quiet!
You can find the details of our journey beyond the Rif here.
Happy reading!
And if you have any questions or comments, don’t hesitate!

Hi there,
I’m looking for travel companion(s) for a little 10-day trip to Morocco. I’ll be riding my RE 500 Classic, but you can bring whatever bike you like! It’s gonna be a relaxed, easygoing ride. Since I’m recently retired, I’ve got plenty of time on my hands.
If you share the same philosophy about biking and travel, feel free to get in touch.
Hello,
I’m looking for a retailer that carries the Morocco maps by Huber Kartographie, from the *marokko-erfahren* collection at 1/120,000 scale.
I’ve found most of them at Le Vieux Campeur and La Compagnie des Cartes, but I’m missing the following sheets: J13 / N10 / 012, and neither of these retailers can supply them. Online, I only ever find the maps I already own, not these specific numbers.
Could any of you point me in the right direction? Or maybe recommend another collection? Even with a GPS, I always prefer paper maps—they’re so much more "expressive."
Thanks!
Dominique
Hi there,
I’m planning a 3-week trip in November after having visited Morocco extensively 30 years ago. I’m thinking of taking the bus to Ouarzazate, then heading to Boulmane and Tinghir, and returning. Is this doable by public transport? Next, from Ouarzazate, I’d like to go to Tagounit or M’hamid. Same question—is public transport feasible? If I rent a car, which agency is reliable in Ouarzazate, considering I only have a debit card? Are there any deposits required? I’d also love recommendations for simple homestays. Thanks a lot!

Hi there!
With our two teens, we’re heading to Morocco for two weeks at the end of December and beginning of January. It’ll be our first trip that’s more "off the beaten path," even though we’ve visited several countries before. Given the overwhelming amount of info, I’m feeling a bit swamped with the prep this trip requires, and I’ll admit I’m a little lost when it comes to figuring out what’s realistic to visit in two weeks 😕 So, all your tips, personal experiences, and suggestions are more than welcome!
- Which places should we prioritize during this time of year? (I’ve read that some spots are less accessible in winter?) - What’s the best way to get around? (rental car, train, private transport, buses, etc.? — just a heads-up, we’ll have a few suitcases!) - In terms of "safety," are there any areas to avoid? - Any recommendations for reliable local tour companies (beyond the big names like "Get Your Guide") that offer excursions or private transport to help us explore the country? - A doable 2-week itinerary that lets us enjoy the country’s diversity without having to change accommodations every two days?
Thanks so much for your advice!

Hi there,
I just got back from a week-long trip to Marrakech, Morocco, with a stop in Essaouira, and I’ve put together my itinerary, some great tips, and my thoughts on the trip. Hope this helps you plan your own adventure and get excited about it!

Hi, the question is actually in the title.
I’m heading to Marrakech in July and would like to know where to buy a SIM card when I arrive—at the airport or in the city? Where’s the best quality/price?
Thanks in advance for your tips.

One-day layover in Tangier, what to do?
Hello,
For a week-long trip starting from Marrakech with a rental car, if you had to choose between these two loops, which one would you go for and why? 1) Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Dades Gorges - Merzouga - Marrakech (map itinerary) 2) Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Dades Gorges - Zagora - Marrakech (map itinerary)
Important info: this is for mid-February, so nights will be cold. For option 1, we’re thinking of staying in a "solid" hotel in Merzouga rather than camping in a tent without heating (our 10-year-old might not like that ^^). If you’ve got any experience to share about cold winter nights in the desert while camping, that’d be super helpful!
Thanks so much in advance!

I'm looking for a travel companion for a road trip in southern Morocco at the end of March 2027.
Duration: 15 days.
Departure from Marrakech.
Car rental and Airbnb accommodation.
Budget: 1200 €.
Itinerary to plan together
I just got back from a week in Mirleft, south of Agadir, and I felt like I’d stumbled upon an "off-the-beaten-path" Morocco: a raw Atlantic coastline, cliffs, endless beaches... and that slow pace that helps you unplug within 24 hours.
We had a house with a pool (the perfect combo when the wind picks up and the ocean cools the air), and then we alternated between: - Wandering the souk and alleyways (local vibe, regional products, and the big Monday souk if you can make it) - Surf sessions / scouting spots (depending on the swell and wind, it makes all the difference) - Wild beaches + viewpoints where you can settle far from the crowds - Legzira at sunset: the orange rock, the deep roar of the Atlantic, and that natural arch that seems to hold "by magic" - A little detour to Tiznit (45 min away): medina, silver craftsmanship, and an unexpected blue spring in the heart of the city - The mandatory "reset": hammam + massage after salt, sand, and road trips
I especially noted a bunch of details to avoid hassles: when to go (wind/weather), how to get around (a car is pretty much essential), what to watch out for on the road at night, and even super practical tips for summer accommodations.
If you want the full article with all the practical info + must-sees (and our tips to avoid mishaps), it’s here: https://aventures-sans-mesaventure.blogspot.com/2026/01/que-faire-mirleft-au-maroc-en-7-jours.html

Hi there,
Just back from 3 weeks in Morocco, I’m selling a SIM card (INWI operator) at a low price.
It still has 15 MAD + 10 GB of data left. This gives you a local Moroccan number to make/receive calls and texts without extra fees, and the data lets you use WhatsApp.
See the 2 photos.
Sold for 6 euros + postage
Hi there,
For the Dakhla - Nouadhibou route, everyone only talks about taxis costing 350 - 400 MAD. But the bus only costs 260 MAD (Supratours). I’ve been searching in vain for info or testimonials from people who’ve taken the bus to Nouadhibou.
So, how’s the bus? And why does no one seem to take it?? Am I about to make a mistake or what?
Thanks!

Hi there,
For a 3-week trip to Morocco, what would be your advice for using your phone locally (to book accommodation, chat with a host on the road, etc.)? Is it better to buy an eSIM before leaving, get a local SIM card once there, or are there other options?
Thanks for sharing your good and bad experiences!
Hi everyone,
We’re planning a trip to Morocco in February 2026. We already know the country a bit, including the desert where we were lucky enough to take part in a rally.
This time, we’d like to explore the Merzouga dunes as a family. We’ll be renting a car in Marrakech and we’re looking for advice on the best stops to make the most of the drive.
We’re still undecided about the return route: should we go back through the Valley of the Roses (and maybe see the gorges if we don’t have time on the way there) or take the Draa Valley for a change?
Here’s our rough itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech in the evening – Overnight stay there
Day 2: Drive east – Overnight in Skoura? Boumalne? Further on?
Day 3: Drive with a stop at the Dadès or Todra Gorges – Overnight in Merzouga
Day 4: Desert day – Overnight in Merzouga
Day 5: Return drive (Draa Valley or back through the Valley of the Roses / Route of the 1000 Kasbahs?) – Overnight in Agdz? Ouarzazate?
Day 6: Drive back to Marrakech with a stop at Aït Ben Haddou / Fint Oasis – Overnight in Marrakech
Day 7–8: Marrakech then departure
If any of you have suggestions on timing, the most enjoyable stops, or feedback on these routes, I’d love to hear your tips. Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
We’re leaving at the end of December (30th) until the beginning of January (6th) with my partner. I’ll be 6 months pregnant. We’d like to rent a car as soon as we arrive in Marrakesh but don’t want to stay there for New Year’s. We prefer the quiet of nature and remote villages. We’re planning to spend 2 days in Marrakesh before our return flight on the 6th.
What itinerary would you recommend to get off the beaten path, avoid overly touristy areas, and discover the palm groves, desert, and this region of Morocco—without overdoing it, given the advanced pregnancy? Thanks so much,

Hi everyone, I’ve given my 18-year-old daughter a week in Morocco in February. I’d like to mix a bit of Marrakech (or elsewhere) with a hotel and pool, plus a trip into the desert with some beautiful dunes.
How can I structure this without making the journeys too long? Is it possible to do Marrakech to the south in 2 days, stopping at lovely spots along the way? Just to clarify, I’d prefer not to rent a car, and my daughter isn’t very "adventurous."
Thanks in advance for your replies and tips!
Short stay in Mauritania (one week), then back to Morocco (Dakhla) for a few days before heading to Agadir and flying back to Brussels. Looking for great spots and sights to visit, as well as nice, moderately priced accommodation. What do you recommend? Thanks in advance
Is it complicated to rent a car and drive in Morocco? Also, is an international driver’s permit mandatory? Thanks
Hi,
I made a flight reservation on Booking, but my reservation hasn't been confirmed and is still pending confirmation by the airline. It's been almost a full day now, and I haven't heard anything—I'm waiting for I don't even know what response... Will my reservation be canceled? In the meantime, I can't book another flight in case I end up paying twice... Has this ever happened to anyone? What should I do?
Hi there,
Does anyone have a good agency recommendation for renting a camper van in Morocco (Marrakech or Essaouira) for about two weeks in March 2026?
Thanks for your tips!
Hello, we’re a family with two kids aged 3 and 7. We’re heading to Morocco at the end of February for 11 days and would love to take a road trip starting from Marrakech down to the south of the country, exploring the Atlas Mountains, sleeping in the desert, and then making our way to Agadir—all over about 3 days. We’re looking for something authentic and typical. Travel agencies are offering us pre-packaged bus tours at sky-high prices, but that’s not what we’re after at all. Could you help us out? Do you know any local driver-guides who might be interested? Thanks, and best wishes!
Hi there,
We’re heading to Agadir for a 4-month stay (October to February). Can you recommend any real estate agencies or organizations to help us find accommodation?
Thanks so much!
Hi there. I had a simple question, please? My 10-year-old son’s French passport expired a month ago, and I just realized it. We’re supposed to leave for Morocco by car on June 30th, taking the ferry from Algeciras. I applied for his passport renewal today, but it won’t be ready for at least 2 months.
Can he enter Morocco with his expired passport? For the return trip, I’ll already have his valid passport.
Thanks for your help—I’m really in a bind here.

Hi there,
I’m going on a cruise with a stop in Casablanca. I’d like to know if there’s a shuttle or bus from the ship to the train station? How far is it on foot otherwise?
Thanks for your help!

Hi there,
I’m looking for a driver for a day in March to take us to the Oukaïmeden ski resort and bring us back. There’ll be 4 adults and 4 kids. Does anyone have a contact?
Thanks!
Hi there,
I’m a French student, and I have to do a one-month internship (August) in Morocco, in Rabat. I don’t know the city at all, and I can’t afford to stay in a hotel... So I’m looking for someone who could help me out... if you have any info, tips, or anything else, I’d love to hear them! =) Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I'm looking for a laundromat in Casablanca like a *Lavomatic* where I can wash my clothes regularly, since I don’t have a washing machine. I live in the Lyautey Sector and have tried several dry cleaners in the area, but they only wash by the piece, not by the kilo, which would be too expensive for me.
Does anyone know of a dry cleaner that washes by the kilo or a self-service laundromat (ideally in Bourgogne or Gauthier)? I heard there’s one in Maarif, but I couldn’t find the address online.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I need to buy about ten pairs of babouches. Do you know if there are any shops around Ouarzazate or Agdz where I could find them? Maybe even cheaper than in Marrakech?
Thanks.
Thanks.
