Hi there, My partner and I are planning to visit Paros from June 4th to 11th, 2025. I’ve been reading a lot of conflicting things, so I’m a bit confused. Does Paros feel more like St. Tropez or Porto-Vecchio—overcrowded, too built-up, and has it lost its authentic charm? Are umbrella and sunbed prices on the beach still reasonable? Thanks so much for your input—we’re thinking of heading there in early June with my partner.

Bonsoir Pour des raisons de facilités au départ d' Athènes notre choix s' est porté sur ces iles . Nous connaissons un peu d' autres iles des Cyclades et du Dodécanèse , nous aurions adoré aller a Amorgos mais trop compliqué par ces temps de coronavirus .... Alors Sérifos , Sifnos et Milos nous paraissent un bon choix car faciles d' accès depuis le Pirée avec au moins 3 liaisons / jour . J' aimerais bien avoir des retours de forumeurs connaissant ces iles , quelques conseils ..... Merci d' avance 😏

I’m a bit late planning, but we’re traveling as a family from October 26 to October 31, 2025, to Athens. After that, we’ll continue our journey from the port of Piraeus for a cruise with Celestyal Cruises (November 1 to November 8) in the Cyclades.

First, a few practical tips:

Is it easy to get by speaking French in Athens, or is English a must? Any tips for making yourself understood? Our hotel is located in central Athens. What do you recommend taking from the airport? A taxi, the metro, or the bus?

For sightseeing: We’ll be there for 5 days. What do you recommend? Should we book tickets for the monuments in advance or on-site? I’ve heard about a pass for visiting 5 monuments. What does it include? Do you have to visit all the monuments on the same day, or can you spread it out over the week? On some websites, it mentions that Tuesday, October 28, would be a free day for monuments. Can anyone confirm this, and what are the rules to benefit from it? Hi, I need to take a ferry to Sifnos on 17/07 at 7:15 AM, departing from Piraeus. I’ll be staying in Athens near Omonia station, and the metro goes directly to Piraeus. How early should I arrive at the port to make sure I don’t miss the ferry? Is the metro station far from the port? Are the signs to find the right ferry clear? I can’t figure out if the first metro is at 5:30 or 6:30 AM? Because if it’s 6:30, it’s a no-go—I’ll have to arrange a taxi or shuttle... I’m not sure how to handle this early ferry. Hi there, I’m planning to wrap up my 3 weeks in Greece with 4 nights on Serifos before a final night in Athens. I’m torn between staying in Faros or near the port in Livadakia... or somewhere else! I’m looking for an authentic spot with a nice beach nearby but still with little restaurants, shops, etc. Something where my daughters and I can enjoy pleasant evenings with a bit of life around us! Hi everyone, do you have any suggestions for a night in Santorini? I’ll be in transit at the end of June, coming from Amorgos to catch my flight back to Lyon the next morning. If possible, what are the transport options to get from the port and then to the airport the following day? Thanks in advance!

We’ll be spending two nights on Mykonos at the end of May so we can visit Delos. I’m wondering if we can easily find a boat by just heading to the port the same morning or if it’s better to book in advance.

Le séjour en Grèce pour le mois d'octobre avec mes amis approchant (si la situation sanitaire le permet encore) , je suis en plein questionnement sur le choix définitif de l'Ile. Je précise que le séjour dure 6 jours : du 12 au 17 octobre.

Le choix initial s'était porté sur Andros. Arrivée vers 13h30 à l'aéroport et nous partions directement sur le port de Rafina pour un bateau à 17h00. Nous y avions prévu de séjourner jusqu'au 15, pour ensuite profiter d'Athènes. Durant notre séjour, nous projetions de marcher et aussi de profiter de la mar.

Et puis, en regardant d'autres choix possibles d'ile, je me suis dis que l'ile d'Agistri pouvait aussi être un autre choix possible. L'ile est petite et il est possible de faire pas mal de choses à pieds. Proche d'Egine ou il y a la possibilité d'y passer la journée. Possibilité de marcher et de profiter des plages.

Et vous, que me conseillez-vous ? Merci pour vos suggestions. Tous les conseils sont bons à prendre. Même les hôtels.

Bonjour, Fin aout je pars pour RHODES et j ai prévu de passer 5 jours à SYmi ; Pour effectuer la traversée faut il réservé par avance ou trouve t on sur le port de rhodes des bateaux qui assurent cette liaison tous les jours de la semaine / Merci pour les réponses

Et voilà c'est le jour du départ.

1ère innovation, j'ai trouvé sur internet un site qui permet de réserver son taxi à l'avance. Pour Athènes c'est 40 euros au lieu de 38 mais mon taxi est réservé. Mon chauffeur va nous attendre à la porte des arrivées. J'ai réservé 5 jours à l'avance. Pas de nouvelles de ma réservation alors j'ai envoyé un message au service à la clientèle. Réponse rapide, je n'avais pas indiqué correctement l'adresse de mon AirBnB. 30 mn plus tard, ma réservation était complété. J'ai reçu un email avec la photo de mon chauffeur. Il attendra 1 heure. Si l'avion a du retard ma réservation est décalée. En revanche ils ne sont pas responsable des retards dus à l'immigration et des bagages. J'ai demandé que le chauffeur arrive à 14h alors que mon vol arrive à 13h. Ce devrait être correct. On verra demain ! Le site est Welcome pickup.

For a trip to the Cyclades in early May (1st–18th), we’re planning to visit Naxos, Amorgos, and finish on Paros to catch a flight back to Athens.

I was wondering if we need to book the ferries now or if we can wait a bit... also, for car rental, can we book on the spot?

For accommodations, our bookings are done except for Paros... any suggestions for good value-for-money options?

Also, any other tips about our route or anything else would be super welcome!!!

I’m planning a family road trip in the Peloponnese in April, arriving and departing from Athens, with a focus on Greek mythology, beautiful hikes, and a balanced pace (we don’t want to spend our days in the car). Here’s our draft itinerary:

Day 1: Early arrival in Athens – visit Acrocorinth and overnight in Corinth

Days 2 & 3: Drive to Dimitsana – hike in the Lousios Gorge (and maybe a detour to Olympia?), mountain villages

Days 4 & 5: Drive to Areopoli (Mani Peninsula) with a stop in Mystras

Day 6: Kalamata, visit Ancient Messene

Days 7 & 8: Pylos, Voidokilia Beach, Palace of Nestor, Gialova Lagoon

Days 9 & 10: Drive to Nafplio (Epidaurus, Mycenae)

Days 11 & 12: Hydra from the port of Ermioni

Days 12–15: Athens I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Does the pace seem reasonable? Should we adjust any stops (too long or too short)? Any must-see mythological sites or hikes along the way, in addition to what I’ve mentioned? Is Olympia really worth the detour from Dimitsana?

My wife and I are heading to Santorini from October 11th to 18th (it’s her birthday gift). I’ll admit I’m torn between spending the full 7 days on Santorini or combining it with another island (I was thinking Milos) for 2 or 3 days. Since the ferry schedules aren’t announced yet for October, it’s hard to plan ahead.

Do you think 7 days on Santorini is too much, or is splitting 7 days between 2 islands too short? Any other destinations worth considering?

I'm trying to plan a little Greek getaway in early summer, and it's a tad complicated—connections from Sitia to Rhodes via Karpathos are only twice a week (and not on the days that work for me!). I gave up on the idea of Kastelorizo, which isn’t that easy to reach either, and replaced it with Symi, which has a daily connection—even several—to Rhodes, where I’d like to spend as little time as possible. I found a boat leaving Symi at 8:15 AM and arriving in Rhodes at 9:35 AM. The ferry to Karpathos leaves the same day at 11:00 AM. That’s 1 hour and 25 minutes to switch boats. It’s tempting because it’s a perfect sequence, but I’m wondering if it’s still a bit too tight.

Do Sebeco Lines’ speedboats arrive at the same port where Blue Star ferries depart? Are they punctual?

Hi there, I’m reaching out for some help planning a short trip to Greece at the end of April with my dad. We’ll be staying for 7 days, flying in and out of Athens, where we’ll rent a car. After quite a bit of research, we’ve decided to explore the Peloponnese, which we don’t know at all. We’ve read that basing ourselves in Nafplio for a few nights and then in Gytheio would be a good way to organize our visits. Here are the main spots we’ve noted so far: Corinth (just the canal, as the rest seems to have little interest based on what we’ve read), Mycenae, Epidaurus, Nafplio, Monemvasia, and Mystras. So, should we rent a car? By the day or for 4 days on each island we’re visiting (Tinos, Paros, Syros)? Is it possible to rent e-bikes? Is that a good idea?

Voici en gros le projet que j'ai élaboré Arrivée à Thessalonique et prise de la location auto Route vers Kalambaka et point de départ des monastères Route vers Athènes Embarquement pour Santorin et retour Paris

question 1 : Peut on louer une voiture à Thessalonique et la rendre à Athènes ? question 2 : ou bien rendre la voiture sur le lieu d' embarquement pour Santorin ? question 3 : sinon qu'elles sont les moyens de transport pour aller de son hôtel à Athènes au port d'embarquement? Et dernière question : quel climat fait il en octobre dans les météores et à Santorin ?
