Here are the cities I’d like to visit, along with my current itinerary, which doesn’t feel quite right. I’m also wondering where the best places to pick up and drop off the rental car would be. International flights from Osaka + the SL Hitoyoshi train ride are part of the plan.

My wife and I are heading to Thailand in April 2025 with our two daughters, aged 4 and 7. I’d love to get your thoughts and some great tips on our itinerary (which isn’t set in stone at all!!). We’re planning to arrive in Phuket and head straight to Koh Lanta (4/5 nights). I’d love to visit another spot in the area, but nothing’s really grabbing us—so if you’ve got any ideas, we’re all ears! Next, we’re heading to Koh Phangan (the north) for about 4 nights. After that, we’ll head east to Ko Chang and Koh Kood, spending around 3 nights on each island. Then, Bangkok for 2 days and one night before flying back to France. We’ll have about 16-17 days there. Like most people, we’re looking for quiet spots, far from big resorts, with beaches, pools, and walks/activities for our young kids. From my research, the west has great beaches and views, while the east offers a bit more adventure and fewer crowds. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Hi there! We’ll be in Singapore for a few days and have 9 days off from there. We’d love to visit Borneo, obviously not everything since we only have 9 days. Ideally, we’d like to spend the last 2 days near the sea in Sabah. Of course, we know we’ll only be able to see a small part of Borneo, but the logistics seem a bit tricky in such a short time.

Next April, I’m planning a trip (the 1st) to Brazil. I’ll have 12 days there (not counting the 13th day for the return). I’ll arrive on 22/04 in the early evening in Rio de Janeiro. The return flight is from São Paulo on 04/05 in the afternoon. I know 12 days is very little for such a big country, which is why I’ll focus on a relatively small area: the southeast (though "small" is relative!). I’ve started mapping out the main stops for my trip, which would be: - Rio de Janeiro: 4 to 5 days? - Ilha Grande and maybe Paraty: 2 to 3 days - Iguazu Falls: Brazilian and Argentinian sides: 2 days - São Paulo: 1 to 2 days

What do you think? Is this reasonable? There are about 250/260 km between Rio and Paraty. I’d like to make the trip by rental car. What do you think? A car is definitely much more practical and faster than the bus. 12/13 days is short—I can’t afford to lose too much time in transit. To get to Ilha Grande, I understand there’s a ferry that shuttles between the mainland and the island. From which city can you take the ferry? Mangaratiba? Conceição de Jacareí? Angra dos Reis? If I arrive by rental car, where can I park it? I think cars are banned on the island, right? That’s where I’m at with my planning. We have a month, and here’s the itinerary I have in mind: Arrival in Tashkent – 2 days Bukhara – 2 days Samarkand – 3 days Panjakent – 1 day The Seven Lakes + Iskanderkul – 3 days Khujand – 2 days Fergana Valley – 3 days Song Kol Lake – 2 days Issyk-Kul Lake – 3 days Charyn Canyon – 1 day Kaindy Lake – 1 day Altyn Emel Park – 1 day Almaty – 1 day and departure

I know the travel times, especially in the mountains, can be long, but I’ve tried to optimize it so we can rest after the long drives. Our family includes three kids aged 5, 13, and 17. We’re used to backpacking. But I have *so* many questions: -Will it be extremely hot in Uzbekistan, but manageable in the other regions on my itinerary? -I’ve read conflicting things about trains in Uzbekistan: is it possible to book train tickets in advance from France? -For the Seven Lakes and Iskanderkul, do I need to hire a driver? Is it easy to find one? Since there are five of us, we’d need a large car… or is it possible to rent a car in Panjakent and drop it off in Khujand? -What’s worth visiting in the Fergana Valley? -I’d prefer to avoid domestic flights, so I planned to break up the Osh-Issyk-Kul Lake route by stopping at Song Kol Lake and taking a horseback ride. Is that realistic? Again, do I need to find a driver, or can we do it independently? -Where’s the best base for Issyk-Kul Lake? The main goal is to relax and swim (is it acceptable for women to wear swimsuits in these regions?) -For the last part of the trip—Charyn Canyon and Kaindy Lake from Issyk-Kul—is it doable, or do I need a driver once more? -Is Altyn Emel Park doable in the summer, or is it too hot? The idea is to see the views and do a short 3-hour hike.

My partner and I are heading to Japan for the first time from mid-December to mid-January for 31 days. It’s a long-held dream we’ve been saving for over two years, and we want to enjoy ourselves while also being mindful of our budget for parts of the trip. We’d love to explore Tokyo, but we’ve chosen to spend more time in nature. My partner plans to get his driver’s license translated locally so we can rent a car. We’ve heard from friends who’ve been that Japan isn’t the best place for improvisation, so we’ve tried to allow plenty of time in each location to avoid rushing. Still, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the itinerary we’ve planned—whether it’s feasible in terms of travel and how interesting it seems. Given the recent increase in the JR Pass price and the fact that we’ll spend about ten days on Goto, Ojika, and Yakushima (where the JR Pass doesn’t cover travel), we don’t think it’s worth it for us. Instead, we’re planning to take the train from Tokyo to Fukuoka and then use buses and ferries for the rest of Kyushu. Here’s our itinerary:

1- December 13 / Arrival in Tokyo, one night in Tokyo, then departure for Fukuoka by train on the morning of the 14th.

2 - December 14-16 / 2 nights in Fukuoka, sightseeing, then departure on the evening/night of the 16th by ferry to Ojika Islands.

3 - December 17-21 / 4 nights on Ojika, cycling and exploring, then departure on the 21st by ferry to Fukue on the Goto Islands.

4 - December 21-24 / 3 nights on the Goto Islands, renting a car to explore, maybe a trip to Hisaka. Departure for Nagasaki by ferry on the morning of the 24th.

5- December 24-26 / 2 nights in Nagasaki, visiting the city and memorials, possibly the hot springs in Unzen. Departure on the evening of the 26th by bus or ferry (?) to Kumamoto.

6- December 26-29 / 3 nights in Kumamoto, sightseeing, day trip by car to Mount Aso and surrounding areas. Departure on the 29th in the late afternoon by bus to Kagoshima, overnight in Kagoshima.

7- December 30 to January 2 / Morning departure by ferry to Yakushima for 3 nights, hiking and exploring the island. Departure on January 2 on the only ferry (?) in the early afternoon back to Kagoshima.

8- January 2 to 5 / Uncertain leg... We’d like to spend the night of the 4th to the 5th at a ryokan in Kurokawa Onsen and then head back to Fukuoka and Tokyo by train on the 5th. From the 2nd to the 4th, since we’ll arrive in Kagoshima in the late afternoon, we thought we could head back up to Kumamoto by train or bus—going to Yufuin or Beppu would take much longer and leave us with very little time. But is it worth staying another 2 nights in Kumamoto to explore the area, given we’ll already be there for 3 days from December 26-29? Or should we stay in Kagoshima and head up to Kurokawa Onsen on the afternoon of the 4th for our overnight stay?

9- January 5 to 13, Tokyo and its endless things to do and see, then back to France!

For her 70th birthday, my mom will receive—as a gift—a trip to South Africa at the end of May 2025. We’ll arrive and depart (13 nights later) from JNB on Air France AF990/AF995. We’ll obviously rent a car for certain parts of the trip. I’ve been to the Cape Town area and as far as Agulhas twice, but she’s never been to South Africa before. She might enjoy a day or two of safari, but it’s not a priority for her. I’m well aware that trying to pack in too much is risky, which is why I’m looking for your advice on itineraries, safety, and health (status of the Marburg virus). So far, which combinations of these visits (in no particular order) would be doable and most enjoyable for her at a reasonable pace:

1-day excursion to Pilanesberg Park (+ Hartbeespoort on the way back if possible), self-drive or with a tour guide? 2 nights around the Panorama Route self-driving Garden Route from/to George/PLZ for 5 nights (what are the must-sees for a first-timer with so little time?) Wine region for 2 nights (is it worth doing both the Stellenbosch bus tour and the Franschhoek Wine Tram the next day, or vice versa)—she loves good wine! Cape Town for 2 nights (is it worth stopping at the Cape of Good Hope if—only if—you’ve maybe already been to Agulhas?).

This would give a final itinerary like this:

Day 1: Morning arrival in JNB—rest day/to be defined Day 2: Guided game drive excursion to Pilanesberg Park Day 3: Flight JNB–Port Elizabeth, pick up rental car, drive to Tsitsikamma Day 4–6: Garden Route: activities to be defined Day 7: Transfer to Franschhoek: Wine Tram in the afternoon Day 8: Taxi to Stellenbosch for the Vine Hopper bus tour Day 9–11: Transfer to Cape Town: activities to be defined Day 12: Flight from Cape Town to Hoedspruit or Nelspruit Day 13: Visit the Panorama Route Day 14: Flight from Hoedspruit or Nelspruit to JNB, then evening flight back to France

Given the time spent on the Garden Route, what are the must-sees? Same question for the Panorama Route? In general, she prefers beautiful walks with incredible landscapes/views and cultural visits over big cats, but it would be a shame not to see some local wildlife like meerkats, whales (I doubt it in May), or penguins during her stay! En raison du Covid, j'ai dû laisser tomber mes projets voyages en Afrique et je me rabats donc (avec envie tout de même) sur le Pays Basque espagnol pour une petite semaine en novembre. Pour des raisons professionnelles le départ se ferait en voiture de Bordeaux et j'ai imaginé le circuit suivant, si les conditions sanitaires d'ici là le permettent ...

Jour 1 : Départ de Bordeaux pour San Sebastian en voiture, arrivée en début d'après-midi et visite de la ville

Jour 2 : Visite des environs de San Sebastian, avec deux options qui me font hésiter : - visiter l'est entre San Sebastian et la frontière française (Fontarrabie etc.) et revenir dormir sur San Sebastian - visiter l'ouest (Getaria, Zarautz, Orio) et dormir dans ce secteur

Jour 3 : Route vers Bilbao en passant par la côte avec un arrêt vers midi à Gernika et dans l'après midi la visite de San Gaztelugatxe par la route B2235 (a priori non accessible en novembre, y a t'il un intérêt à voir l'endroit ''de loin''?). Nuit à Bilbao avec retour par la route 3101.

Jour 4 : Visite de la biosphère d'Urdaibai dans l'après midi avec une visite de Bilbao dans la matinée.

Jour 5 : Route vers Pampelune en passant plus bas par l'Alava (un autre itinéraire serait-il plus sympa ? Des arrêts à conseiller sur la route ? ). Vaut-il mieux ''tracer'' la veille au soir vers Pampelune pour avoir une journée de plus dans ce secteur ?)

Jour 6 : Visite des Bardenas Reales par l'entrée nord avec un arrêt à Olite. Nuit à Pampelune (ou à Tudela?)

Jour 7 : Ce jour devrait nous permettre de remonter plus au nord, voire en France, pour une dernière halte avant le retour à Bordeaux. Petite hésitation entre passer par une vallée des Pyrénées genre Roncevaux (fin novembre) ou revenir sur la côte et s'arrêter vers Biarritz (peut être répétitif par rapport au reste du voyage ?)

Jour 8 : Route pour Bordeaux où nous devons arriver pour midi !

Voilà en gros ce que mes recherches ont donné avec beaucoup de ''trous''... Je suis ouverte à toutes les suggestions surtout pour les parties un peu floues de mon itinéraire... L'idée n'est pas d'avoir des vacances reposantes. Au niveau voyage, j'aime visiter par la ''route'', les villes sont plutôt pour moi à visiter en soirée autour d'un bon repas sans m'attarder dans les musées etc !

J’ai comme projet de partir avec mon chien en itinérance vélo en Septembre de Toulouse à nice . Je souhaite passer par montpelier puis marseille puis destination finale. J’ai un peu étudié l’itinéraire et je pensais prendre le canal de Toulouse jusqu’à Sète. Première question connaissez vous le chemin le plus sécurisé pour rejoindre montpelier depuis Sète ? Je vais tirer mon chien grâce à une remorque enfant et donc je souhaiterais éviter le plus possible les routes avec beaucoup de passages. En-suite je voulais savoir si quelqu’un l’avait déjà fait ? Puis de montpelier à Nice je pensais emprunter l’eurovelo 08 . Je voulais savoir si quelqu’un connaissais une meilleure option car je souhaite vraiment m’arrêter à Marseille et cette route longe mais n’y passe pas tout à fait. Dernièrement je suis en train de préparer le voyage et j’ai la remorque pour chien mais je compte investir dans un vélo solide , en vue de ce projet et des futures projets sachant que j’ai le poids d’un chien de 24 Kg a tirer. je me suis renseignée et chaque site propose une marque et un vélo différent dit performant et il y en a tellement et tellement de marques. Je n’ai pas non plus un énorme budget sachant que je compte acheter tout le matériel qui’il faut avec mais je comptes quand même investir un peu dans le vélo . Alors avez vous des conseils pour le vélo , la marque et le matériel que ce du matériel de bikepacking et toutes autres conseils que vous poubez me donner ?

Bonjour fin septembre j'envisage avec un camarade de faire Fontainebleau-les Vosges jusqu'à Remiremont à vélo, je suis preneur de tous les conseils d'itinéraires. La veille, des Vosges j'irai à Paris gare de l'est en train et, de là j'envisage de rejoindre Fontainebleau à vélo. Là aussi, je suis preneur de tous les conseils sur un itinéraire au plus près de la Seine. Quelle circulation y-at-il? Parfois l'itinéraire suit-il un chemin le long de la rive? Serai-je obligé parfois de me trouver sur des routes à forte circulation? L'itinéraire est-il difficile à suivre? Voilà un certain nombre de questions que je me pose. D'habitude je prépare mes voyages longtemps à l'avance mais cette le Covid m'empêche d'aller là où j'ai réservé. Du coup, je n'ai rien étudié et suis pris de cours. Nous voyageons avec 2 ados et sommes habitués à faire de longs voyages (1 à 2 mois). Notre principale recherche étant la découverte de paysages, nature... Aussi, auriez-vous un itinéraire à me proposer, qui me permettrait de voir un maximum de paysages différents, un peu à l'image des Roadtrip Nord Américain qui permettent d'être quelque peu dépaysé chaque jour par des paysages différent. Je sais que c'est possible en Espagne. De France, cela nous permettrait de le faire en voiture ou en camping-car si nécessaire. Le roadtrip pourra se faire avec une durée de 3 semaines à 1 mois voir plus si cela vaut le coup.

Je pars au Costa Rica du 17/10 au 01/11/2020 avec mon compagnon. Nous souhaitons louer un 4x4 pour parcourir le pays. En restant 12 jours sur place, nous sommes bien conscients de ne pas pouvoir tout voir, mais nous voulons quand même découvrir au maximum ce pays. J'ai préparé un itinéraire mais souhaiterais savoir s'il est réalisable et pas trop ambitieux, notamment en temps de trajet. J'ai compris qu'ils pouvaient être beaucoup plus long que prévu. Qu'en pensez-vous ? Nous aurions aimé visiter le volcan Poas et La paz waterfall gardens mais faute temps j'ai enlever cette étape, d'autant plus que d'après mes recherches, le volcan peut être fermé selon la météo et son activité volcanique.
