Bonjour je voudrais savoir si c'est possible de partir cette été a Cuba la premiere semaine de juillet pour un budget de 500$ A 600$ dollard pour une semaine tout inclus avec taxe. Si vous etes partis l'an passee j'aimerais avoir vos commentaire de l'hotel qui offrait ce forfait et des inf merci . Je dois attendre de choisir mon forfait derniere minute dit moi 2 ou 3 jours avant le depart .

Vous allez me trouver surement assez rêveur ou utopiste, mais j'aimerais bien faire un tour du monde à pied, en stop et en train. J'ai déjà tracé une ligne d'est en ouest sur un planisphère et j'envisage de le réaliser en trois ans, tout au plus.

J'aimerais vos conseils. A savoir si c'est réalisable. A quoi je dois faire attention. Quelles formalités je dois m'astreindre pour passer les frontières, etc ...

Bonjour je rentre juste d une petite semaine de vacvances en Bretagne ou d ailleurs il n a pa plus . J ai pris un vol AIr France au depart de Metz Nancy ou l on est convoque 1h30 avant mais avons du poireaute 1 h de la porte cart l aerogare n ouvre ses portes qu a 5h30 Nous passons au chek in ou l on me donne mes place pour le vol POur le vol Metz Paris et Paris Quimper Nous embarquons sur un ATR 42/72 ou l on ne recevra qu un cafe sans croissant car le four du catering est en panne et vu qu il n y a plus d electricien de permanenece a l aeroport et ben pas de croissant 🙁.Arrivons a Orly ou nous avons 50 mn pour prendre notre correspondance, probleme un monde fou a la fouille 🙁et la on nous appelle deja et le personnel me dit gentillement qu il faut partir plutot de la maison 😏ben oui il ne sait pas que j arrive deja de Metz par un vol Af, nous embarquons a bord d un fokker 100 toujours AF mais faisant parti de l alliance Brit Air, recevrons un cafe (imbuvable)avec une madeleine 😛.Arrivee a Quimper comme convenu, nous nous dirigeons aux bagages mais la probleme nos sacs sont absents 😊;sachant qu il y a d autres avions dans la journee, je vais faire ma declaration ou une hotesse AF me repond nous vous les livrons a la maison 😏😏😏😏ok mais je n ai pas de maison, je pars sur un Greement pour 5 jours de peche au thon et ensuite je reste 3 jours a St Guenole .Gros probleme comment me livrer les bagages a bord du bateau ??????. L hotesse me dit qu au plus tard ce sera vers 21h et au plus tot 16h, je precise que mon avion est arrive a 9h50 😏 rapide chez AF . Je contacte le skipper et me confirme que notre depart est prevu pour 14h30 . Resultat des courses je suis reste sur le quai toute la joiurnee, ais attendu la societe illico presto pour la livraison de mes bagages (etions 2), j ai vu partir mon bateau a 16h30 (et oui le skipper a attendu 2h mais vu que nous n etions pas les seuls, il a du lever l ancre )mes bages furent livres a 20h45 mais tropp tard pour prendre un bateau taxi pour rejoindre notre bateau, donc une nuit a l hotel, deux repas, et le lendemain transfert par bateau (taxi )pour reprandre le court de notre programme . Aucune excuse de la part du service de AF a l aeroport de Quimper simplement entendre dire que cela arrive (pas de chance)et maintenant je suis bon pour ecrire et faire une dmeande d indemnisations 😛 Cordialement

La nuée de reines de beauté présentes en Thaïlande pour le concours de Miss Univers en fin de mois s'est attirée les foudres des autorités religieuses en paradant en bikini devant des temples bouddhiques, a rapporté mercredi la presse. La Thaïlande doit accueillir le 31 mai le concours Miss Univers, et il ne se passe plus de jours sans que les photos des prétendantes au titre de tous les continents ne soient publiées par la presse, dans un pays traditionnellement fasciné par les concours de beauté.

Mais mercredi, des photos d'une brochette de Miss en deux-pièces à bord d'un bateau sur la rivière qui baigne la capitale, le Chao Praya, avec pour arrière-plan le célèbre temple Wat Arun, ont provoqué la consternation de nombreux Thaïlandais.

"Ces visiteurs ne sont pas bouddhistes, ils ne comprennent pas notre culture", a déclaré à l'AFP Udom Charoen, directeur du Bureau national du bouddhisme.

Le ministre du Sport et du Tourisme, Somsak Thepsuthin, a indiqué que ces scènes auraient disparu lors de la diffusion d'un film sur les activités des Miss à Bangkok, le 31 mai, a annoncé le quotidien The Nation.

Quatre-vingt-une Miss participent au concours dont les images seront diffusées pour toute la planète et la Thaïlande espère que ce sont surtout ses méritoires efforts de reconstruction après le tsunami de décembre dernier qui attireront l'attention.

voila, apres avoir passe quatres mois en argentine, je part apres demain pour le chili. j'ai adore ce pays, ses gens, ses villes, ses paysages, tout. mais une chose que je ne leurs pardonnerai point, laquelle me revolte et me mets dans tous mes etats, c'est cette facon de faire payer plus cher au touristes . que ce soit des visites de muses( pas tous), de sites, de parcs etc etc. bien sur me direz vous pour nous autres c'est peu, soit mais est ce la une raison suffisante? que direz un blanc contraint de payer plus cher l'entree d'un parc ou d'un site, sous pretexte qu'il est blanc dans un pays de noi, de meme que devrez pensez un juif; ce que je suis, si j'avais a payer l'entree d'une eglise gratuite a visiter sous pretexte que je ne suis pas catholique. je me demande parfois jusqu'ou ira t on dans nos demagogie en tout genre. nous avons la chance et le privilege d'habiter et de vivre dans un pays qui nous donne les moyens par sa richesse de voyager, de vivre correctement, mais nous travaillons pour, est ce la une raison pour nous depouiller. perso j'ai mis dix ans pour realiser mon reve, celui de parcourir le continent sud americain, alors vous comprendrez ou vous ne comprendrez pas, mais moi je trouve cet attitude indigne et j'ose esperer, comme d'ailleurs certains argentins qui n'apprecient guere cet etat de fait, que le gouvenement argentin prendra un jour la decision de stopper cette facon de fair. pour le reste que vous dire, si ce n'est de ne plus hesiter a prendre votre billet, l'argentine foncez y, c'est magnifique.

On envisage un voyage de 2 semaines dans l'ouest canadien à l'été 2004. On veut visiter les meilleurs points d'intérêt des Rocheuses, Vancouver et Victoria. On part 4 (2 adultes et 2 ados). On pense prendre l'avion et se louer une auto là-bas.

Devrions-nous arriver à Vancouver ou en Alberta? Devrions-nous réserver tous nos hôtels avant de partir, vu qu'on est en haute saison?

Y-a-t-il des musts ou des trouvailles à visiter à part les incontournables Banff, Jasper, etc.

Pour l'hébergement, y-a-t-il des options genre B&B, location de condo ou autre que des hôtels /motels?

Quel genre de budget se fixer?

Right now, with the war raging in Iran and affecting all the neighboring countries of the Persian Gulf, many airports are completely closed to all traffic.

Several airlines like Qatar Airways, Emirates, and others have almost completely halted their operations.

Whether in the Middle East or Africa, many travelers are stranded—maybe for a long time... A heartfelt thought for them and the struggles this will cause.

Four months ago, I was in Kenya with a flight booked through Qatar Airways... I can’t even imagine how I’d react if I were stuck there now. ??

Wishing all these travelers courage, patience, and success in making it back home.

We did the Langtang trek (hike) from September 10th to 17th, with the first and last days being the trip from Kathmandu and back—so 6 days of actual walking. It’s a fairly well-known trek but certainly not as famous or crowded as those in the Annapurna or Everest regions, which is why we chose it.

In theory, it’s mandatory to have a guide for this trek. In reality, it seems there are ways to bypass the regulations: we met at least two people hiking without a guide—a South Korean, a New Zealander, and possibly also a couple of English women and an American couple, though we’re not sure if they had a guide.

The agency we booked with had told us it was an affordable trek for relatively older people in good shape—which is our case (I’m 72 myself). I have to say upfront that we found it quite challenging, maybe because we didn’t have good weather—it was the end of the monsoon season. To be clear, no matter your fitness level, I’d say doing this trek in the middle of the monsoon season would be suicidal.

Day 1 – Journey from Kathmandu to Syapru Besi

On Monday, September 8th, there had been violent protests in Kathmandu against the government, which had, among other things, blocked access to social media and been accused of nepotism and corruption. There were 19 deaths. The situation was very tense on the day of our departure, Wednesday the 10th. The agency warned us that public transport was very unreliable. So, we decided to take a jeep, at an additional cost of $100 ($160 minus what was already budgeted for the bus).

We left a little before 7 a.m. and it took us a good hour just to reach the outskirts of Kathmandu. Along the way, we saw several houses and vehicles set on fire by protesters.

The road to Syapru Besi is only 120 km, but it’s frankly awful. It’s always narrow, winds through endless mountains, and the shoulders range from bad to confusing to nonexistent. Several sections are just dirt tracks. We didn’t regret opting for the jeep, as we could stop several times at our convenience—if only to let Y (my Thai partner) throw up everything she had. She’d taken her usual motion sickness medication, but the constant turns, accelerations, and braking eventually made her terribly carsick.

In Nuwakot, we stopped for breakfast at a nice little restaurant, Jimbu. It was around 8:30 a.m., and we’d barely covered 60 km. The restaurant has a lovely garden overlooking the Trishuli Ganga, the river flowing down from Syapru Besi. An hour later, my second photo: the hills along the Trishuli Ganga. You can see the different crops—lush green rice paddies in the lower right and corn, already yellowed and likely harvested, in the foreground on the left. And of course, the mist and clouds through which you can glimpse the mountain on the other side of the river.

Hey hey, A great way to meet locals! I got hooked on it over the years, and after a few women-only trips with an all-female agency (bad experiences with 5 to 10 chicks every time—many of them think they’re well-educated but actually stick their noses in everything 🤪), I’m heading out solo again soon. (Don’t ask me where—I rarely plan my trips and usually leave on a whim within days. Thinking of Canada in September, should be cool!)

Little tip for those who are nervous but still want to travel solo: It’s all about attitude because everything shows on your face. Sometimes approached by aggressive or just rowdy groups, it’s easy to spot the ringleader (it’s the one running his mouth 😏). And that’s who you need to target—use a tone that’ll leave him speechless (after that, you’ve won, and sometimes they even become friends). Not always, though! 😄

Another fresh travel journal!

The context: For my 60th birthday, I had planned to take my family (kids + partners) for a week in Gran Canaria, at an all-inclusive hotel, but with the firm intention of exploring and hiking. The deal was to meet up at least in the evenings to spend time together, if my pace didn’t suit them. Personally, I’m not into beaches and lazing around, but my daughter-in-law is pretty cool. We were going to be together, do what we liked, and all would be well. Unfortunately, five days before departure, my mother-in-law passed away, and of course, we had to cancel everything. I was able to get a refund for a lot of things, including the hotel despite missing the free cancellation deadline (really cool of them), and I got a one-year credit for the full price of the flight tickets. So, we tried to plan the same thing for my kids, but with their schedules, we couldn’t find a date. I had to find a destination served by Iberia, far enough to use up my credit. We don’t know the Caribbean, we needed sun and a bit of rest, so the Dominican Republic won out. But no way were we going to mess up by staying in an all-inclusive hotel and only visiting the island’s paradise beaches… (we’ll get back to that). So, as usual, I put together a little road trip with a rental car.

Here we go!!!!

Day 1: Crossing the Atlantic Super early departure for Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport. A 3-hour layover in Madrid (my wife’s had enough of flight delays, so I played it safe). Flight to Santo Domingo without any issues. The luggage arrived, the driver I’d booked was there, everything went smoothly. We got to our hotel in the Zona Colonial around 4 PM. Bad luck—it’s on a cute little square where there was supposed to be neighborhood activity in the evening. It’s completely under construction! Too bad! We decided to head to the Malecón, a sort of local Promenade des Anglais, except there are no English people. It’s nice, safe, spacious, and by the ocean. We walked for a while, and as happy hour rolled around, I started my training as an intern in rum-based cocktails. A mojito, classic, but it’s amazing to be sipping the drink in the warmth, right by the big blue. On the way back to the hotel, we grabbed some bananas, ate them in the room, and then bedtime.

The plus: We actually left! The minus: There isn’t one

Why pick Canada over French Polynesia?

The price? A magazine or TV report, a travel journal, an Instagram ad? Ease of travel? Minimal time difference? The country that has the most in common with all the trip participants? Activities? Relaxation? The desire to push your limits?

What else, I wonder...

Personally, I often prioritize simple destinations (no administrative hassles), where I’m not at risk (nothing extraordinary like getting kidnapped by Daesh or ending up in a jail cell because the current geopolitics aren’t favorable to my passport, etc.), and where I can drive.

Wide-open natural spaces are more my thing than urban anthills.

Finally, I try not to spend three days on a plane to reach my destination, and I aim for a maximum budget of 3500 € (for 3 weeks) in comfortable conditions—that means charming hotels, good meals, etc.

A turbulent period came to an end around 2022.

Many of us have returned to big trips after making only very small ones—or none at all. For a little anecdote, my dentist told me that due to the lack of travel, a lot of clients treated themselves to implants they would’ve otherwise skipped. The joy of traveling again probably gave some vacationers smiles they hadn’t dared to show before!

Here, you can share what’s on your mind: Have these new, real trips disappointed you, rejuvenated you, or just relieved a long frustration?

For my part, not being so young anymore, there was definitely relief but no explosion of joy. I just had the feeling of picking up the thread of life after a foggy pause, with the bitter taste that 2 or 3 years of my life had been partly stolen from me.

Ma copine et moi projetons, si les conditions le permettre, de réaliser un road-trip de 3 semaines dans l'Ouest Canada entre Septembre et Octobre prochain.

Pour l'instant nous avons posés nos congés du 19 Sept au 11 Octobre. Le seul soucis c'est qu'on lit un peu tout et son contraire sur cette période. Entre "été indien" et "pluies abondantes, période défavorable" je ne sais pas trop quoi en penser.

Est-ce que certain d'entre vous ont fait ce voyage à cette période ? Faut il mieux avancer nos congés ? Ou faire les 2 premières semaines dans l'Ouest et la dernière semaine au Quebec ?
