En fait j'aimerais vivre pendant une année une expérience inoubliable tout en gagnant de l'argent.

Le hic, 😐 c'est qu' à part fille au pair je n'ai pas trop d'autres idées...Et vous ?

Je pars en juillet et je ne sais pas trop ou aller ! J ai pensé à l Irelande, l Ecosse, Le Dannemark ou la Suède! Je partirais avec mon sac à dos et un peu de tunes! Ca ne sera pas une partie de plaisir vu que c est la premiere fois que je m aventure comme ca ! j aimerais bien avoir des conseils ! merci

je souhaiterais travailler seulement pour quinze jours trois semaines dans n'importe quel pays d'Europe. Est-ce qque quelqu'un sait comment je pourrais m'y prendre en sachant que j'ai un fort petit budget et que le temps, lui aussi est limité. Ou si vous etes d'un autre pays Europeen que la Belgique, je peux essayer de vous trouver un job ici et vous m'en trouvez un dans votre pays.

Je suis entrain de me renseigner sur le visa "Working Hollidays" pour pouvoir partir en Australie et voila ce que j'ai lu sur le site de l'ambassade Australienne :

"Nous attirons votre attention sur le fait que seules les personnes possédant un passeport d'un des pays avec lequel le gouvernement australien a signé un accord peuvent demander un visa 'Working Holiday'. Les pays sont:

Hi there, I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip: - Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running. - I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out. - The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days. - Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought. - Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep. - The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper. - I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today. In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

I suggest we compete with photos of towers. No magic tricks or potter’s wheels—we’re talking about "tour" as in the feminine noun. So, a kind of tall building, round, square, or polygonal, or a high structure that could be metallic, or a flat-topped bell tower (campanile), or a high-rise building (building)... You can find them almost everywhere in the world and from all eras. The tower(s) must be the main subject of the photo. Examples: The first photo, which is Saint Mark’s Square (with the Campanile), won’t be accepted. The second one, where the Campanile tower is the main subject, will be accepted.

In 1985, the film "Out of Africa" was released, which inspired me to visit Kenya for the first time a year later. My passion for animals in their wild and natural habitat, and thus for safaris, was born while watching this film and appreciating Robert REDFORD’s acting.

Of course, the film’s director and Meryl STREEP also contributed greatly to this wonderful movie.....

In a way, I owe him this passion, and I thank him for it. Sometimes, during safaris, when we had our breakfasts in the middle of nature, in one reserve or another in Kenya or Tanzania, I often thought of him.

May he rest in peace, far from our world of madness. Thank you for EVERYTHING, Mr. REDFORD.

( In three weeks in Kenya, I think I’ll often be thinking of him....... )

Off on new adventures!!! For my wife’s 60th birthday, I’m really making her happy. While I usually pick warm, sunny destinations, she’s more tempted by places where you don’t suffer from the heat. So, it’s off to Norway!! A real challenge for me—a southern guy who’s as cold-sensitive as they come. I keep telling anyone who’ll listen (well, just myself, really) that these aren’t the countries for me, that rain will be our travel companion, that we’ll have to face polar bears, navigate between icebergs, that there are still Vikings around, and all sorts of other things. Of course, not wanting to make it easy, we’re driving from the Lyon area where we live. Friends who’ve visited the country told us it’s pretty expensive to eat out (among other things), so we’re bringing supplies—especially enough for apéritifs the whole trip!!! It’s not a camper van, but a "hotel-car" we’ll be doing! We’ll see how it goes! As usual, I’ll try to narrate the journey with my two-cent comments, plus some little tips to avoid our mistakes—assuming I don’t lose any fingers to the cold! Every night, I’ll count them to make sure I still have all ten! We’re not in *Ch’tis* territory but even farther Noooorth (as Galabru would say). Note that I’m traveling with a synovial effusion in my knee! The old man’s not in great shape!! Here we go!!

Hi there, I’m planning our next (pricey) trip to Norway. It’ll be a road trip with accommodations either in Airbnbs or hotels. I’ve been dreaming of going to the LOFOTEN for ages, but I don’t want to skip the big fjords either (Geiranger, Flam, Bergen, Stavanger). So to combine both, I thought of doing a round trip from Trondheim to Stamsund with Hurtigruten and spending 4 nights in the southern LOFOTEN. The fares are so steep that I don’t think I can do more. The coastal road is certainly beautiful up to BODØ, but with the stops to plan, it ends up costing as much as taking the boat—plus the fatigue and extra kilometers. Has anyone taken the Coastal Express with their vehicle from TRONDHEIM to STAMSUND?

Welcome everyone!

It’s been a while since I last wrote a travel journal, but this recent trip to Iceland reignited my urge to write—both for the breathtaking landscapes we discovered and our adventure full of twists and turns!

This Iceland trip is part of our world tour, which we started back in August 2019. We (Sandrine and Flo) left by plane with our baby, Lena, who was barely 5 months old at the time. We backpacked around the Pacific for 5 months before returning home for a short break to see family. That was just before COVID hit, in late January 2020.

What followed was a bit chaotic... For the second part of our world tour, we were supposed to pick up a new vehicle: a brand-new pickup with a camper cell we planned to live in for several years. Due to lockdown, we received the cell weeks late, and with borders closing, we had to rethink all our plans.

So, we postponed our Iceland departure by over a month and a half, jumping on the first ferry accessible to French travelers after lockdown! Our goal is to spend 3 months there, from early July to late September, in our new camper cell. Our base vehicle is a Toyota Hilux we bought new, fitted with a flatbed where the cell sits, and we’ve prepped it for this trip (reinforced springs + airbags, snorkel, chassis protection, and off-road tires...). The aim is to tackle as many off-road tracks in Iceland as possible, knowing this is already our 3rd trip there (3 weeks in summer 2016 with a Durango, then 1 week in winter 2018).

Après un projet de voyage au Canada, puis en Norvège... Nous avons finalement prit nos billets pour la Suède pour un départ la semaine prochaine.

Nous serons 19 jours sur place et nous ne connaissons absolument rien de ce pays hormis le fait qu'il n'y a pas de quatorzaine et qu'il y a des animaux en liberté. 🙂

Nous pensions louer une sorte de campervan pour notre séjour. Auriez vous des conseils d'agence de location ? Des immanquables à ne pas rater ou tout autre conseil ? Merci beaucoup !

J'avais programmé une croisière vers le Groenland avec Hurtigruten. Si on suit leur site, petit à petit, des croisières Norvégiennes type express côtier ont été annulées - pas toutes - et hier celle du Groenland du 22 août a subi le même sort. De Paris, je devais rejoindre Rekjavik en avion et de là, le bateau.

J'ignore le motif précis de cette annulation, entrée interdite en Islande ?, au Groenland , autre ?

J'avais fait des recherches sur les limitations au Groenland mais n'avais rien trouvé.

J'ai la possibilité d'un report sur 2021 ( que j'ai accepté ) , j'espère bien que cette fois.....
