Technologiquement, je peux que leur tirer mon chapeu (et il est grand mon chapeau 😛), l'avion est une prouesse dans beaucoup de domaines RDM, Autom, Aérodyn, etc ... Mais la question que je me pose, c'est ce que modifiera l'A380 dans nos habitudes de vols?

Arrivera-t-il a faire baisser le prix des billets? Verra-t-on la naissance de pleins de supers-méga gros aéroports, comme celui qui est construit à Dubai pour accueillir les 20 A380 qui sont déjà commandés? Arrivera-t-il a baissé la gêne sonore (moins de décollages, même niveau sonore)? Ou est-ce que finalement, 500 personnes dans un avion, c'est beaucoup trop? le gros ronfleur, on peut plus lui échapper ...😕

Enfin, quels sont vos impressions de voyageurs face au dernier petit né de l'aéronautique européenne?

Je suis nouveau sur ce forum, et j'éprouve déjà beaucoup de plaisir à vous lire.

Je rêve depuis bien longtemps de faire un tour du monde. D'après mes calculs, mon tour du monde durerait 7 à 8 mois avec un budget de 9000 euros, sachant que mon intention est de dormir sous un toit tous les soirs, et que l'itinéraire est le suivant : Gréce Turquie Iran Dubaï Pakistan Inde (plus grosse partie du voyage, au moins un mois) Thailande Malaisie Singapour Indonésie Australie (liaison maritime Indonésie Australie possible ?) Nouvelle Zelande Nouvelle Calédonie Tahiti Ile de Paques Chili puis remonter par la route jusqu'a Mexico, République Dominicaine et retour à Paris.

Croyez-vous cela possible ?

Mais ma plus grande crainte, c'est de voyager seul... Coups de blues en perspective, dans quel etat d'esprit partir pour éviter cela ?!

On me propose pour aller aux Maldives de passer par Emirates. Seulement, ce sont des vols de nuit,

et pour le retour notamment, on va partir de l'hotel dans la journée, et passer la nuit dans l'aéroport à Malé en attendant le départ de l'avion. Après, on ne me dit pas combien de temps je vais attendre à Dubai pour revenir sur Paris.

Je suppose que les heures des avions sont toujours un peu les mêmes.

Qq1 a t-il déjà fait aussi ce "circuit" PAris-Dubai-Malé via Emirates ?

Quels étaient les délais d'attente ( et les conditions à l'aéroport) entre les transferts ????

Je souhaiterais savoir si parmi vous, quelqu’un a vécu une mauvaise expérience avec la compagnie Gulf Air. Mis à part le prix attrayant que j’ai obtenu pour me rendre au Népal, je n’ai rencontré que des problèmes avec cette compagnie.

Voici donc mon témoignage :

Le 22 avril 2001 je revenais de Katmandu, par la compagnie Gulf Air. Avec 350 autres passagers nous avons attendu 25 heures à Abu Dabi sans qu’aucune explication sérieuse ne nous soient données. Au bout de 17 heures d’attente à l’aéroport, nous avons obtenus d’être transférés à l’hôtel le plus proche après avoir insisté fortement. Je précise que le chauffeur de bus s’est perdu et nous a conduit à l’hôpital avant qu’on lui indique le chemin de l’hôtel que l’on connaissait approximativement pour y avoir séjourné à l’aller.

Cette année, j’ai repris un vol avec Gulf Air, en me disant que je ne devais pas rester sur un mauvais souvenir et que ce genre d’incident peut arriver. Et là c’est à l’aller, le 14 juillet, que j’ai vécu la même situation. Premièrement, je me suis présentée 2 heures avant l’embarquement comme il est conseillé, et j’apprends avec quatre autres passagers que nous sommes en " surbooking ". Après avoir attendu 5 Heures à l’hôtel à Paris de 11 H à 18 H, nous avons été dirigé vers Londres. De là nous avons manqué l’avion pour Dubaï et avons dû patienter encore 3 heures pour prendre le suivant. Quand nous sommes arrivés à Dubaï, nous avons attendu encore 2 heures pour le vol Dubaï-Abu Dabi, le meilleur est à venir : le vol d’Abu-dhabi/ Katmandou a été annulé suite à un problème technique survenu au moment du décollage. Le départ du vol était prévu à 11H30, nous sommes restés deux heures à bord de l’avion au sol, sans climatisation, servis seulement au bout d’une heure et demi d’un verre d’eau apporté par les hôtesses. Puis, nous avons attendu à l’aéroport 4 heures avant d’être transférés à l’hôtel où nous avons patienté de 15 H 30 à 1H du matin.

Ah j’oubliais, au bout de trois jours nous sommes arrivé enfin à Katmandou mais sans nos bagages !

Suite à tous ces incidents, nous avons envoyé chacun des cinq passagers un courrier de plainte en recommandé pour obtenir une compensation financière. Cela fait deux mois que nous attendons une réponse de la compagnie Gulf Air, quand nous téléphonons, nous avons une personne différente à chaque fois qui nous promène de service en service. Nous avons à force de ténacité trouvé le bon interlocuteur, seulement il est toujours absent pour congé, nous avons maintenant droit à un répondeur qui prend les messages qu'on lui laisse, évidemment personne ne nous rappelle après coup.

Je me sens frustrée et très en colère contre l'incompétence de Gulf Air et la manière dont son service litige traite ses clients. Je suis à la recherche d'une autre compagnie pour le Népal, même si je dois payer 150 euros de plus pour le billet. J’attends donc vos témoignages car je ne pense pas être la seule à rencontrer des problèmes avec Gulf Air.

Hi there, I’ve got a long layover (about 10 hours) in Seoul on an upcoming trip. I arrive from Phnom Penh at 7:20 AM and depart for Montreal at 6:00 PM.

First question: Will my checked baggage be transferred automatically? I have a single ticket from KTI to YUL (Air Canada ticket—KTI-ICN operated by Asiana (codeshare) and ICN-YUL by Air Canada).

Second question: I saw it’s possible to join free guided tours (Airport Transit Tour). What do you think of this kind of service? And is my "actual" layover time (accounting for security checks, check-in, etc.) enough to do one of these tours?

I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia. For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France? It was totally by chance that I found this cruise while chatting with Alfred in November 2024. It wasn’t planned, but the price was attractive—one of those "great deals" from Ponant that I love and that don’t exist anymore. Since everyone’s wondering, here’s the answer without waiting for the end of the story: after my various loyalty discounts, I paid **3,250 € per person** for 8 nights/9 days on the expedition cruise *The Essentials of the Seychelles*.

Expedition cruises are by far our favorites. The outings are done by Zodiac with the ship’s naturalist guides, everything’s included, and there’s no need to add any excursions or prepare anything.

We’re liking long flights less and less, so to break up the trip, we decided to stop over in Doha for four days on the way there and one day on the way back.

I’m happy to share the good and not-so-good moments, the great surprises, and the disappointments of this trip with you.

India inaugurates the new Navi Mumbai International Airport and the final phase of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3—a major turning point for the country’s infrastructure. Mumbai, India’s economic capital, is entering a new era of modernization. The Indian government has officially inaugurated the Navi Mumbai International Airport, one of the country’s most ambitious infrastructure projects, along with the final phase of Metro Line 3, a key axis to ease congestion in the megacity. The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), located about 35 km from the city center, aims to eventually handle up to 60 million passengers per year. Built to reduce pressure on the already saturated Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport, it features ultra-modern facilities, sustainable design, and cutting-edge technologies for air traffic management and energy efficiency. At the same time, the completion of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3, connecting Colaba to Bandra-SEEPZ, marks a major advancement in urban mobility. This 33.5 km underground section will significantly reduce travel time and congestion in a city known for its chronic traffic jams. These two projects reflect the Indian government’s commitment to transforming Mumbai into a global hub, combining connectivity, sustainability, and economic development.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), a project two decades in the making, has finally come to fruition. Phase one of the airport was inaugurated Wednesday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. Although the first phase, which includes Terminal 1 and Runway 1 with 10 bus gates and 29 aero bridges, has been inaugurated, flight operations will not begin immediately.

"Post-inauguration, the airport will be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for a security sweep, which could take 30 to 45 days. We also need to mobilize customs and immigration teams and complete end-to-end testing, which is a 45-60-day process," said Arun Bansal, CEO of Adani Airports Holdings Ltd, developer and operator of the NMIA, during a press briefing at the NMIA premises Monday. Even though an exact date hasn’t been announced, NMIA CEO Captain B V J K Sharma and Bansal said commercial flights are expected to begin in December 2025. Plans of major carriers Three major airlines—Air India, Akasa Air, and IndiGo—have already signed on to shift part of their operations to NMIA. Last month, Air India announced plans to start with 20 daily departures (40 air traffic movements) through Air India Express, connecting 15 Indian cities in the first phase. By mid-2026, it aims to scale up to 55 daily departures, including up to five international flights. IndiGo, which made its announcement in May, plans to operate 18 daily flights to more than 15 cities from the first day of commercial operations and intends to expand to 140 daily flights—30 of which will be international—within 18 months. In June, Akasa Air said it will start with 15 daily domestic flights, scaling up to over 300 domestic and 50 international flights a week within a few months. When asked which airline will operate the first flight, Bansal said, "We want all three airlines to be there on Day 1. It depends on who has the earliest slot that day, and the destination choice lies entirely with the airlines." Operations to begin with 12-hour window In the first month, flights will operate between 8 am and 8 pm, with the 12-hour window likely to be extended as operations stabilize. Although NMIA’s full capacity is 40 air traffic movements (ATMs) per hour, the initial phase will handle 10 ATMs—allowing 10 aircraft to land or take off every hour. Airlines are expected to announce routes and ticket sales soon. Touted as an international aviation hub, NMIA positions Mumbai alongside global twin-airport cities such as London, Dubai, and New York, and plans to launch both domestic and international operations from Day 1. Concession for international carriers When asked if international carriers will be given any concessions, Bansal said, "For international airlines, we will not charge them parking fees for the first year." The duo added that NMIA aims to reclaim Mumbai’s rightful place on the global aviation map. "For a decade… travelers didn’t have a choice—airlines couldn’t get additional slots (at the Mumbai airport), so traffic shifted to Delhi. We are course-correcting that with NMIA. It won’t happen overnight, but over the next five–seven years, you’ll see the change," said Bansal. He noted that Mumbai currently lacks direct flights to major destinations in Europe and the U.S., something NMIA hopes to change. "If you see east-to-west flights, Mumbai is a natural stop," added Sharma. As reported earlier, NMIA will eventually feature four terminals and two parallel runways, with a total capacity to handle up to 90 million passengers per annum (MPPA), compared to 20 MPPA in the first phase. In the long term, the airport aims to serve as a key transfer hub between the East and the West, enabling passengers from Southeast Asia to connect seamlessly to Europe and North America.

If you take the bus from Bangkok Ekkamai to Pattaya, foreigners will be asked to pay an extra 20k for checked baggage, even though it’s already been paid for and listed on the ticket. They don’t even weigh it—a woman just demands you pay again, and if you refuse, she goes to get security colleagues who yell at you and threaten not to let you board. We later found out at the hotel that this is a well-known organized scam. The company is ROONG REUANG COACH, and we were about fifteen people—all foreign tourists—in the same situation. For Thai passengers, they didn’t ask for anything.

Then in Pattaya, violence and corruption rule. The next day, we learned the city is classified as "scarlet" (high-risk). A hotel guest was attacked with a knife by four Thais on a scooter—they stole his bag with his bank card and cash inside, luckily not his passport. A large hotel near ours was just shut down administratively for pedophilia. On Apple Maps, many reviews warn about how dangerous the city is. I’ve been coming to Thailand regularly for over 30 years, but I barely recognize the country since COVID. The "Land of Smiles" is turning into the "Land of Scowls," and a form of racism is emerging. For us, this will be the last time—next stop, Vietnam, and even China, which pleasantly surprised us.

Finally, China and the U.S. are advising their citizens against traveling to Thailand due to violence. Right now, most tourists here are Indians and Russians—together, they make up the majority—along with some from the Gulf (Qatar, Dubai, Oman).

I came across a (really interesting) cruise on the Mein Schiff 4, and apparently, no French agencies sell Mein Schiff cruises. After several searches online, only Wondercruises and Seascanner work with them.

The advantage of Wondercruises is that they’re partners with "Flying Blue," and you can earn miles.

I love a good challenge, so why not try out this company—it seems pretty solid!

Well, here we go, despite the lack of info on Zambia, I managed to pull off this pretty special trip. I’d posted asking for tips but got very few replies. So I leaned heavily on Giradhino’s travel journal to plan the route.

The context: After visiting Kenya, then Namibia, then Botswana, I wanted to see another Southern African country—hence Zambia. This time, we’re two couples: us (of course) and our friends we’ve traveled with to the last two countries mentioned. The idea was to do a self-drive trip, picking up a 4x4 at the airport and figuring it out as we went.

We rented our fully equipped vehicle from Hemingways, an agency in Livingstone. Great agency (really), I’ll talk more about them later. It came with rooftop tents and all the gear for cooking and everything... However, our goal was to sleep in lodges and only use the tents as a last resort. Mission accomplished—we never even unfolded the tents. Guess we’re getting old 🙂

The route (summary): Lusaka - Kasanka NP - Bangweulu NP - Mutinondo - Kapishya - North Luangwa - South Luangwa and back to Lusaka.

That said, let’s hit the road for this travel journal of a pretty lively trip. Reminder: I’m more of a filmmaker, so I’ve got tons of footage but very few photos. The ones I have were taken on my phone, so they’re not great quality. My wife’s the one who handles that side of things.

Day 1:

At 9 a.m. sharp (or close enough), we leave the Lyon area, heading to Paris CDG. Our flight’s at 9:30 p.m., but it’s a busy Saturday with holiday traffic, so we play it safe to avoid jams—especially since the Olympics (hosted in Paris, in case you didn’t know) are causing extra traffic issues.

We’re relaxed and happy to be on our way. The drive goes smoothly. We take the eastern route around Paris to reach a hotel with parking at a better price than the airport lots. We leave the car there, and a shuttle takes us to Terminal 2. Bad luck—we’re actually flying from Terminal 1! The transfer between terminals is quick, though, so no stress.

After the usual formalities (with Rwandair), we end up in the Duty Free.

A rare rant-free moment: Usually, I let off steam in my travel journals now and then, but this time it’s the opposite. I had a terrible memory of CDG and had been avoiding it for years. But this time—Olympics effect? A big change? What a pleasant surprise! The staff were plentiful and super friendly at every pre-flight step, making everything easier. Comfortable seats for waiting to board. Well done, CDG!

We buy Ricard, Jack Daniel’s, and Get 27 to handle any situation that might come up. We board on time, and that’s when our adventures with Rwandair really begin. Yep, the first hiccup!

We’d booked our tickets back in October and (since we don’t hold back!) had paid extra for preferred seats on all our flights. Since October, we’d received emails about schedule changes—just a few minutes here and there. Unfortunately, we never got an email saying that *on top of* the schedule change, the plane’s configuration had also changed. So when we boarded with our seats (all four of us together at row 25), we were furious to see that the preferred seats were now row 23. We’d been *completely* scammed. We’d paid extra to end up in seats we’d been trying to avoid! You could say Rwandair double-dipped on the same seats. What a rip-off! We tried to negotiate an upgrade, but the flight was full. So our flight to Kigali started with a real sense of anger.

I’m back from this “mixed” two-week cruise in the Indian Ocean on the Norwegian Sky.

Originally, I had booked a cruise with AIDA (also in the Indian Ocean), but unfortunately, the company decided to cancel it and offered us other options, which we declined because the dates didn’t work for us.

Since my wife really wants to do a cruise in the Indian Ocean, but very few companies offer this destination, it’s a bit complicated—especially when the dates don’t line up. Finding a good compromise between companies and timing is tough. Retirement can’t come soon enough!!!

After some research, I found a really great itinerary with Silversea (a luxury cruise line) for a 19-day cruise from Cape Town to Victoria, stopping in Madagascar (2 days), Praslin, La Digue... But my wife couldn’t get the time off. Not only was the itinerary amazing, but the price was unbeatable (5,200 € per person for a balcony suite, all-inclusive). What a shame—I would’ve loved to try this company, but maybe next time (if we’re lucky enough to have the chance).

My wife tried to take unpaid leave but wasn’t successful... Oh well!

On my end, I have more flexibility with vacation time since I travel a lot for work, so I can accumulate my days off and take them when it suits me.

So, we settled for this cruise (the only one that matched my wife’s vacation dates). Sure, we weren’t thrilled about the ship, but the itinerary wasn’t bad. We figured, why not?

I requested a quote from Logitravel, and after a discount, we paid 2,600 € per person for a balcony cabin (category BA) with the More At Sea package, which includes: 300 minutes of internet, premium drinks, 5 restaurants, and discounts on excursions...

After booking the cruise, I started looking for flights (Paris/Dubai and Mauritius/Paris). It’s peak Easter vacation time, so tickets are crazy expensive... I ran several simulations on Skyscanner and was shocked by the prices.

A direct flight from Paris to Dubai with Emirates is 1,400 € per person (one way), and the return from Mauritius to Paris (also with Emirates via Dubai) is 1,350 € per person.

Given these outrageous prices, I decided to book a flight with a layover. The best value I found was with Qatar (via Doha) for 650 € per person, with a 2.5-hour layover in Doha, and a direct flight from Mauritius to Paris with Corsair for 750 € per person.

With the More At Sea package, we had a 300 € credit per person for flight tickets (as long as we booked through NCL).

I requested a quote, and they offered: OUTBOUND: April 18, 2025 – Egyptair CDG-CAIRO 10:05 PM-2:30 AM February 19, 2025 – CAIRO-DUBAI 5:30 AM-10:55 AM RETURN: May 3, 2025 – Kenya Airways Port Louis-Nairobi 6:50 PM-10:10 PM, Nairobi-CDG 11:50 PM(+1)-7:30 AM (price: 950 € per person).

Sure, the price was good, but we didn’t want to fly with those airlines, and NCL didn’t have any other options. So, we booked our flights ourselves.

D-Day: Departure from Paris on April 18 with Qatar via Doha:

Two days before leaving, I checked in online and took the opportunity to buy seats near the emergency exits since my wife tends to get swollen legs on long flights. So, she prefers having extra legroom (cost: 132 € per person). It’s a bit pricey, but peace of mind is priceless.

Usually, when I have an early flight from Roissy, I always book a hotel the night before (near the airport) to avoid stress and not miss my flight. But since it was school vacation time and Good Friday, we decided to leave very early from home...

The flight was scheduled for 9:05 AM. We live 70 km from the airport and had to be there by 7:05 AM.

We barely slept... Up at 4:30 AM, and by 5:45 AM, our Uber was outside. We arrived at the airport (Roissy Terminal 1) by 6:50 AM.

Check-in was smooth—less than 10 minutes, and our bags were dropped off with boarding passes in hand.

This was my first time flying out of Roissy Terminal 1 since it was renovated for the Olympics. Wow, it’s a huge improvement—nothing like the old “camembert box” we used to know!

This trip dates back to late 2021, but since Voyage Forum reopened for writing, I haven’t seen many travel journals about Tanzania, so I decided to repost this one, which I originally shared on another well-known travelers’ site—even though I prefer Voyage Forum’s user experience. It’s also a chance for me to relive this exhilarating trip... So, if you’re up for it, let me take you on a classic adventure: Tarangire - Ngorongoro - Serengeti, plus a little bonus—the small Arusha Park. First off, yes, as the title of this journal suggests, we were lucky enough to spot *tons* of lions. The power they exude is incredible, even if most of the time they just look like big cats napping or strolling around. But lock eyes with one, and you’ll be glad you’re in the jeep.

But let’s not forget the rest of the wildlife—and the landscapes, which are absolutely stunning, with those iconic tree silhouettes.







I remember before leaving, I was a little worried I wouldn’t feel that same sense of wonder I’d experienced two years earlier in Botswana (see my travel journal). That fear was unfounded—the magic worked its charm once again! Note: Since we had limited time, we focused our trip entirely on safari, so this journal is 100% animals and landscapes—and 0% Maasai. Hi everyone, In spring 2025, we’re planning a 10-day trip to Istanbul. There are several museum passes (PASS) available. I’m torn between the Istanbul Welcome Card, Istanbul E-pass, and Istanbul Museum Pass. We’ll be visiting Topkapi, Hagia Sophia, Galata Tower, etc... Based on your experiences, which of these passes would you recommend? Thanks so much!

J'ai une question pour vous qui vous baladez de par le vaste monde.

Est-ce que vous prenez en considération le régime politique d'un pays lorsque vous choisissez une destination ? En d'autres termes, est-ce que vous décidez de ne pas vous rendre dans certains pays pour ne pas légitimer en quelque sorte le régime en place ?

Dans le LP sur la Birmanie, ils posent la question : "should you go there ?" et ensuite ils essaient de peser le pour et le contre dans un passage dédié. Faites-vous de même ?

Par exemple, iriez-vous en Corée du Nord, en Chine, en Biélorussie ou en Iran pour ne citer que quelques charmants pays amis des droits de l'Homme ? Si oui, vous sentez-vous le besoin de vous justifier, et comment ? Sinon, quels sont vos raisons qui vous font reculer ?

J'ai parlé de morale dans mon titre, est-ce que ce terme vous semble approprié ?

je suis en thailande depuis le 1 er fev 2020 et suite au covid et une extention automatique des thaïlandais, mon billet émiraties ne servant à rien puisque la compagnie ne revient pas en thailande à l'heure d'aujourd'hui. j'ai donc acheté 2 billets pour ma femme et moi le 20 juillet pour le 31 juillet et depuis tout ce temps 7 jours les billets ne sont pas confirmés. LASTMINUTE.COM auprès desquels j'ai commandé mes billets et débités sur mon compte, fait le mort et ne répond pas à tous mes e-mails. quand je vais sur mon compte L.M.COM il m'est précisé qu'ils m'écriront quand le billet sera confirmé. je trouve un peu cavalier qu'ils ne répondent pas à mes courriers, pourtant L.M.COM est connu sur la place et je ne comprends pas cette incorrection de ne pas répondre. quand on téléphone on tombe toujours sur un répondeur. ALORS N'ACHETER PAS AVEC L.M.COM😕 😠

Bonsoir le groupe, j’ai réservé une croisière aux Émirats sur le Seaview en février 2021. Nous avons choisi une suite balcon aurea à l’arrière du bateau (cabine d’angle) Mais voilà surprise... en me connectant sur mon compte MSC je découvre que ma réservation n’est plus sur le Seaview mais bien sur le Fantasia... Grosse déception, nous avions choisi le Seaview pour ses nombreux accès extérieurs, ce que le Fantasia ne possède pas. Nous avons déjà fait une croisière sur le Preziosa, son jumeau, certe un très beau bateau, mais nous avons préféré le Seaview. Ma cabine est passée en « cabine garantie » et je ne connais donc pas son emplacement. Voilà je me pose donc la question suivante: y a t il que le Fantasia des suites balcon aurea pour 2 adultes et 2 ados? Car lorsque je consulte les plans des ponts je ne vois que des suites avec canapé lit simple. Merci pour votre aide
