ola, départ pour Bali dans 3 semaines et suis pas du tout prête: les vaccins, ils sont obligatoires ou pas? si oui lesquels? Palu? quels médicaments emporter? les îles de la sonde ça vaut le cout? coût du transport, c'est cher ou pas? Nusa lembongang, vous en penser quoi ? une ptite dernière, 3 semaines "détentes-découvertes" ça vaut le cout ou pas après 2 mois de stage, passés à Bali?! ( ça fait pas trop ?) Voila j'attends vos réponses et surtout vos conseils PS j'ai toujours pas trouver de billets abordables 950 euros avec Malaysian Airlines ! MERCI😉

Nous souhaitons partir en RD fin novembre, début décembre. En cherchant un peu, les formules tout inclus semblent alléchantes mais rester à l'hotel pour le farniente ce n'est pas trop notre truc..Auriez-vous des infos sur les endroits sympas à visiter, les endroits où hôtels à éviter, si sur place il est facile d'organiser des excursions soi-même ou avec des agences locales (sans se ruiner..)..enfin toutes les infos nous serons utiles! De même, les déguats occasionnés par les cyclones sont-ils conséquents?

Nous ferons en janvier prochain notre première croisière ! Nous aimerions avoir des informations, des expériences vécues sur le monde des croisières. Nous partirons pour 10 jours à bord du Summit de Celebrity en partance de Fort Lauderdale en Floride et ferons escales à St-Martin, Ste-Lucie, Barbades, St-Thomas et St-Kitts.

Nous avons déjà faits plusieurs voyages dans le sud mais c'est la première fois que nous partirons "en mer" et que nous irons dans les antilles du sud !

Alors si avez de l'information soit, sur la compagniie de croisière, le bateau, la vie à bord ou sur les différentes escales (excursions à faire ou choses à voir) nous en serions bien reconnaissants !! 🙂

🙁 je ne vous conseil pas cette hôtel, car il ne vaut même pas les 3*, car effectivement, à notre arrivé, personne pour nous accompagné à la chambre.

3h00 pour avoir les valises dans la chambre.

Ensuite nous avons été volé dans le coffre, je dis bien dans le coffre avec la clé sur nous, les sommes de 100€ et 40$ US, ensuite, je me suis ouvert le pied sur 1 cm de profondeur dans la piscine car mal entretenu, j'ai du payer au médecin de l'hôtel la somme de 300$ US pour me faire recoudre. 🤪

1 semaine après cette accident, le sang que j'avais perdu auprès de la piscine été toujours là.

Les chambre faites entre 15h00 et 16h00. La plage et la mer remplie d'algue. Et bien d'autre chose...

Another fresh travel journal!

The context: For my 60th birthday, I had planned to take my family (kids + partners) for a week in Gran Canaria, at an all-inclusive hotel, but with the firm intention of exploring and hiking. The deal was to meet up at least in the evenings to spend time together, if my pace didn’t suit them. Personally, I’m not into beaches and lazing around, but my daughter-in-law is pretty cool. We were going to be together, do what we liked, and all would be well. Unfortunately, five days before departure, my mother-in-law passed away, and of course, we had to cancel everything. I was able to get a refund for a lot of things, including the hotel despite missing the free cancellation deadline (really cool of them), and I got a one-year credit for the full price of the flight tickets. So, we tried to plan the same thing for my kids, but with their schedules, we couldn’t find a date. I had to find a destination served by Iberia, far enough to use up my credit. We don’t know the Caribbean, we needed sun and a bit of rest, so the Dominican Republic won out. But no way were we going to mess up by staying in an all-inclusive hotel and only visiting the island’s paradise beaches… (we’ll get back to that). So, as usual, I put together a little road trip with a rental car.

Here we go!!!!

Day 1: Crossing the Atlantic Super early departure for Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport. A 3-hour layover in Madrid (my wife’s had enough of flight delays, so I played it safe). Flight to Santo Domingo without any issues. The luggage arrived, the driver I’d booked was there, everything went smoothly. We got to our hotel in the Zona Colonial around 4 PM. Bad luck—it’s on a cute little square where there was supposed to be neighborhood activity in the evening. It’s completely under construction! Too bad! We decided to head to the Malecón, a sort of local Promenade des Anglais, except there are no English people. It’s nice, safe, spacious, and by the ocean. We walked for a while, and as happy hour rolled around, I started my training as an intern in rum-based cocktails. A mojito, classic, but it’s amazing to be sipping the drink in the warmth, right by the big blue. On the way back to the hotel, we grabbed some bananas, ate them in the room, and then bedtime.

Since no travel journal has been posted about this destination since 2020, I’m giving it a go—maybe it’ll jog some memories for a few of you or give others a few ideas... even if, in the end, there isn’t much to tell 😎! Even though the itinerary was as classic as can be, it still led to a few brain knots: in what order? How many nights on each island? Rent a car or not? In short, plenty of existential questions to land on 4 nights per island, finishing with Mahé to avoid any nasty surprises before the return flight.

Saturday 03/22: Flight to Mahé with Qatar Airways (no—or rather, no more—direct flights from Paris 😕) A nice surprise at CDG with the discovery of a new lounge in Terminal 1

Then, an in-depth exploration of Doha Airport thanks to (or because of) a loooong layover:



And finally, arrival at the tiny Mahé airport where we step onto the tarmac feeling like we’ve walked into a steam room

Baggage claim is quick, the shuttle to the port is on time, the ferry is punctual (we, on the other hand, are *very* early for it ), and there’s Praslin in sight:



... with a sneak peek of the sea’s colors 🙂 Quick note on the photos: most were taken with a smartphone, and the colors are a bit more saturated than in real life (I did bring my hybrid camera, but in the end, I barely used it since it wasn’t very practical to lug around on the water or for snorkeling).

We pick up the car (a Grand i10 instead of a Picanto) from a muddy parking lot (it just rained) and off we go—of course, with a windshield wiper instead of the turn signal 😎, left-hand driving obliges. In just a few minutes, we arrive at our accommodation for these 4 nights on Praslin (Oh, and now the "lien" tab isn’t working! ) We’re blown away by the view from the terrace:

Hello, After a lot of searching, exchanging ideas, and thinking it over, I’ve decided to go back to my original plan of spending two weeks in Bangkok. From January 19th to February 2nd. I’ll also take a quick trip for one night/two days to Ayutthaya (and return to Bangkok, where I’ll have kept the apartment I booked), and possibly the same for Kanchanaburi, depending on how I feel once I’m there—whether I find something more interesting in Bangkok or nearby. The key word is: taking my time to take photos, observe, taste, savor (in every sense of the word), and most importantly, not rushing. Beyond the must-see tourist spots, I’d love to wander around the city and maybe within a 40 to 50 km radius for a day trip to discover unusual and lesser-known streets, houses, temples, markets, gardens, and more. I’ll also be spending two weeks in Chiang Mai and two weeks in Nan. I’m open to any suggestions. Thank you so much!

CORSICA From September 24, 2024 to October 9, 2024 Thank you, thank you, thank you for reactivating my favorite forum, which has given me so many ideas for my trips since... 2008—it’s been ages, as they say! So, to celebrate its return, I’m sharing this little travel journal from our latest road trip, not too long ago, since it was Corsica in the autumn. Autumn is the ideal season to visit Corsica: fewer tourists, perfect temperatures around 25°C, and, most importantly, less stress on the roads. You can feel it everywhere. Servers and shopkeepers are more relaxed and have time to chat (yes, Corsicans do talk... but not all of them!)

09/24 Arrival in Erbalunga Whether you're from northern France or Belgium, like us, the easiest way to reach the Isle of Beauty is by flying from Lille-Lesquin Airport. Volotea offers two destinations: Bastia and Ajaccio. Be careful, though—while the ticket prices are attractive, the airline makes up for it with baggage fees. A 25kg suitcase for 212 €—that really drives up the cost of transportation! For us, it’ll be Bastia. After this short flight and an arrival that lets you clearly see the east coast of Cap Corse, we’re welcomed by our friend Jean-Claude, who’s kindly hosting us for a few days. We met this Corsican and his wife during our four-year stay in French Guiana, and I have to say, he completely changed my opinion of Corsicans and even made me want to visit his island. The house, clinging to the rock above the sea, is stunning and offers a breathtaking view of the island of Elba. I’d always heard of Elba but must admit I wouldn’t have known where to place it before. We’ll stay here for five nights, long enough to explore the north of the island.



Since we’ve just arrived, Jean-Claude wants to show us his village, ERLALUNGA, a quiet little port, and the small village of CASTELLO above it, where he spent a lot of time in his childhood...

bonjour à tous je viens de lire un article concernant la croisière en Méditerranée du Grandiosa (MSC) qui vient de partir. Des passagers ont été je cite "expulsés pour avoir quitté en cours de route une excursion organisée" bien sûr ces personnes n'ont pas respecté les consignes édictées par MSC mais cela veut aussi dire que durant les 4 mois de croisière il nous faudra prendre les excursions organisées par Msc donc frais supplémentaires et manque total de liberté même si nous pouvons comprendre que ces dictas énoncés par MSC soient là pour nous protéger.... Nous partions tous heureux de faire une croisière de rêve....où est le rêve ? : se promener sur le bateau avec le masque, voir des spectacles et aller au restaurant en combien de services ? Où est le plaisir de rencontrer les autres, et combien de temps allons passer pour la moindre des démarches, de plus être contrôlé à chaque retour de visite (est ce que le contrôle à l'instant T sera toujours valable après quelques jours si une personne est malgré tout contaminée après une sortie) être menacé d'expulsion si nous agissons comme les croisiéristes du Grandiosa. Il y aura bien, sur plus de 3000 passagers, quelques "indisciplinés" et l'on peut le comprendre, c'est long 4 mois dans de telles conditions. Par ailleurs allons nous être accueillis "a bras ouverts" dans tous les ports notamment dans les ports des caraïbes, au mexique, aux usa, en australie au japon etc... Bien sûr certains me rétorquerons que nous serons remboursés à hauteur du temps passé à bord au lieu des visites prévues mais quel intérêt de tourner en rond sur un bateau alors que nous partions pour découvrir tous ces pays et certes pas pour "s'amuser sur les ponts" comme certains l'ont décrit. Nous devrions tous du moins ceux qui pensent que partir est risqué, prendre un avocat pour obliger MSC et les agences chez qui nous avons laissé depuis au moins un an des arrhes importantes à nous les rembourser (bien sur les arrhes ne se remboursent pas en temps normal mais dans ce cas là nous sommes devant une situation exceptionnelle). Je vous souhaite à tous malgré tout une bonne journée
