hola nous partons le 15 nov pour 3 mois en asie du sud est avec comme itineraire bkk/birmanie/bkk/koh jum (pres de krabi c est super)/bkk/laos /vietnam/peut etre le cambodge si il reste des sous et du temps .voila pour la presentation. je n ai pas de questions, j aimerai juste connaitre vos avis eclairés sur cette option (qui sous entends qu on fait l impasse sur rangoon car je crois qu on doit ressortir par ou l on est rentré ?): voler de ch.mai a mandalay, bonne idée ou pas ? on aura 3 semaines à peine pour vadrouiller dans le centre et le nord du pays ce qui sera de toutes facons tres frustrant mais je pense qu on risque d y revenir tot ou tard. merci pour les bons plans pas trop connus et les mauvais à eviter (surtout a cette période)

Idem, pour les plus "pointus" sur le sujet : en juillet, pour la plongée, la visi est-elle correcte (selon la météo), ou ce n'est même pas la peine de faire un détour par là en cette saison ?

Je suis venu visiter KOH PHI PHI du 22-26 Fevrier 2005 ... Voici donc toutes les infos et renseignements pour ceux qui pensent a venir a KPP prochainement pour visiter cette Ile meurtrie par le Tsunami geant du 26 Decembre 2004 ...

Transports et liaisons a partir de KRABI, AO NANG, KOH LANTA, PHUKET avec KOH PHI PHI : pas le moindre probleme ! Une ou deux liaisons Aller/Retour a partir de ces Ports tous les jours sans compter les autres locations en bateaux prives ... Prix = 4 Euros environ en aller simple ... Tout le monde y va ! - des survivants qui rentrent, des volontaires qui viennent aider, des touristes par petits groupes tous les jours ...

Au point de vue de logements : Au Village de TONSAI detruit a 90pct ... Les grands ensembles hoteliers dont le PHI PHI HOTEL sont hors-service, eventres ou partiellement emportes par le Tsunami - en phrase de reconstruction active . Les autres Resorts retappent quelques Bungalows ou chambres et essaient de les louer aux quelques touristes - au milieu des autres Bungalows ou Chambres eventrees, des decombres et des tas d ordures ... et il y a cette odeur insupportable des choses mouilles, moisies, putrifiees ... ! Des boutiques, des cybercafes, des agences de tours, des dive-shops eventres, demolis partout dans chaque ruelle ! Aucun restaurant n est ouvert mais on peut toujours boire un coca, une bierre et manger des biscuits achetes dans un magasin d alimentation retappe ! Tous les ATM/DAB sont casses, emportes, tombes par terre, plus de billets de banque a retirer avec sa Carte bancaire ! Cabines telephoniques demolies partout - on peut toujours telephoner a partir d un petit coin du Port avec une ligne de secours temporaire, tarif tres cher ... Il y a de l electricite dans le Village grace a un enorme groupe electrogene pres du Port ...

En ce qui concerne les autres Resorts hors du Village de TONSAI ... TOUT fonctionnent NORMALEMENT sans le moindre probleme. Et de plus en plus de Touristes viennent y sejourner et ils profitent des reductions enormes de 40 a 50pct - ou payer 5 jours et avoir 5 jours de vacances de plus gratuitement ! Des affiches d infos sur des murs, des arbres du Port proposent leurs offres! Des Longtail Boats vous les transportent pour UN Euro sur d autres Plages magnifques de KOH PHI PHI ... Sur la Cote extreme Nord-Est Hat Laem Tong : 3 grand Resorts + 2 petit . Sur la Plage de Hat Yao ( Long Beach ) : 2 grands Resorts . Sur la partie Nord-Ouest de Ao Loh Dalum dans les hauteurs : 1 grand Resort et sur les hauteurs du Sud de Ao Ton Sai : 1 grand Resort (on peut venir a pied de Ton Sai - 3 kms environ ) . Les Touristes sont deja revenus a KOH PHI PHI dans des Resorts hors et loin du Village de Ton Sai et on y passe des vacances NORMALEMENT parce ce que le Tsunami n a pas touche ces Resorts qui sont intacts avec leurs belles Plages ! Ce n est pas le cas des 2 Plages du Village de Ton Sai avec des cocotiers casses, emportes, eparpilles sur le sable de ces plages devastees pour longtemps ... Tout est a re-amenager et a reconstruire pour que le Village de Ton Sai redeviendrait ce qu il etait avant le 26 Decembre 2004 - Et il faudra des annees ( de 3 - 5 ans ) d apres les plus optimistes du coin ! Pour le moment, les habitants de KOH PHI PHI ont besoin des Touristes pour les aider a se relever et surtout ... de sauver leurs emplois dans les Resorts qui fonctionnent ... Les Organisations sur place au Village de Ton Sai demandent aux Touristes de venir visiter, sejourner ... d acheter des Cartes Postales, des T-Shirts afin que certains boutiquiers puissent vendre au moins quelle aue chose dans la journee - parce que ces Touristes sont les seuls clients potentiels de la journee pour leur commerce !...

Autour de KOH PHI PHI ... tout est intact ! Les coins celebres et aimes des Touristes et Plongeurs sont toujours la ! Pas beaucoup de traces visibles du Tsunami geant ! Les poissons multicolores sont au rendez-vous, le sable fin de la tres celebre Plage AO MAYA ( du Film LA PLAGE avec Leonardo Di Caprio et Virginie Ledoyen ) est bourree de Touristes venus de tous les coins de la region par bateaux entiers petits et grands. On y dejeune en pique-nique sur Ao Maya sur toute la Plage !

Les Ferries fonctionnent tous les jours de PHUKET du Terminal Songserm avec depart pour KPP a 9h00 du matin et retour a Phuket de KPP a 14h45 ... De KRABI et de KOH LANTA aussi ...

Sur la Cote Nord-Est de KPP sont desormais ouverts aux Touristes les Holidays Inn Resort, Phi Phi Natural Resort, Erawan Palms Resort et 2 autres ... Le PP Natural Resort offre 5 nuits gratuites pour 5 nuits payees = 10 nuits !

Je pars avec une copine en mars 2005 pdt 3 semaines. Les 2 premières semaines sont consacrées à la visite de BKK et du nord.

La dernière semaine se déroulera ds le sud. Ns hésitons entre la province de Phuket/Krabi et l'archipel de samui.

Que ns conseillez vous sachant que nous souhaitons alterner farniente sur une magnifique plage / Beaux paysages / chaleur et convivialité des habitants / plongées / authenticité / pas trop touristique mais pas trop calme non plus....Bref nous avons pas mal d'exigeances !

Nous partons 15 jours au mois de mars 2005, nous voulons faire un voyage éloigné de la foule mais en sécurité. Je me conecte souvent sur ce forum mais je n'y ai pas trouvé de renseignements sur un hotel sympa à bangkok accessible assez facilement de l'aéroport par le chao praya ou le sky train...En fait nous arriverons de Krabi vers 12h30 puis je laisse ma famille à l'aéroport internationnal vers 22 h et doit revenir le lendemain pour un vol sur luang prabang à 11h30 ...Ayant une après midi à passer sur BGK je pensais descendre le chao praya avnt de raccompagner la famille sur l'aéroport et trouver un hotel assez facile d'accès pour éviter de rater mon vol sur le Laos le lendemain ...Merci de vos infos ...

Je pars fin février en Thaïlande et je voulais savoir si ces endroits étaient facilement accessibles depuis Krabi ou Phuket, en combien de temps. Hi everyone... I apologize in advance if some of my questions have already been answered on this forum—I didn’t have time to read through everything.

I’m planning a family trip to Thailand in July for 6 people: - 4 adults, 1 child aged 14, and 1 aged 9. We’ve started looking into travel agencies that specialize in the country and offer custom trips.

Our initial idea was a budget of 2500 € per person for a stay of around 14 days, including:

- 3/4 days in Bangkok (visiting temples, floating markets, Chinatown, river cruise, etc.) - Kanchanaburi - Ayutthaya - 3/4 days in Chiang Mai (elephant sanctuary, rice field visits, temples, etc.) - Then a domestic flight to finish the trip in Krabi for 3/4 days (free time + excursions to Koh Phi Phi and/or Phang Nga, for example).

I’d also have liked to visit Chiang Rai, Lopburi, and Sukhothai, but we’ll have to make some choices.

So, my question is: - Is it better to go through well-known agencies to plan our trip, or is it possible to use local agencies for visits with French-speaking guides (if needed) and book flights and hotels on our own?

Does a budget of 2500 € per person seem reasonable for this kind of classic itinerary?

I’ve received (or will receive) quotes from agencies like Evaneos, Tourlane, Havas, Sawa Discovery, Nomade Aventures, etc. They all seem very professional but offer rather high-end services.

If any of you have recommendations for local agencies, I’d love to hear about your experiences. Also, is it possible to organize this kind of trip to Thailand on your own?

I know I’m not being very original, but I really want to make this a fantastic vacation with the best tips possible to avoid cutting the trip short to fit my budget.

After a long travel hiatus, we’re (finally) back on the road for some getaways! Now with two kids in tow, we’re heading to Thailand for two weeks next February (a destination that’s stood us up twice before but seems perfect for our first big family trip).

We’d have loved to stay longer, but two weeks is already a great start and will be plenty enjoyable.

Key points: - Experience Thailand, not just live our usual routine in Thailand - Avoid crowds as much as possible, even though February will be busy - Not big city fans, so Bangkok (BKK) will be kept to a minimum - Focus on nature, the sea, forests, waterfalls, hiking, kayaking...

At this stage, here’s the rough itinerary I’m considering: - Arrival at 7 AM + a day in BKK

- DEPART for SURAT THANI (BUS) - Transfer + Khao Sok (overnight on the lake / in the trees)

- RETURN to Ko Samui - Transfer to Koh Pha Ngan or Koh Tao (snorkeling)

- RETURN to Khao Lak. While there: * Visit Ao Phang Nga Park by kayak * Excursion to caves / Ko Khao Phing Kan (the "007 beach" lol) * ALTERNATIVE = SIMILAN ISLANDS

- RETURN to KRABI or Koh Phi Phi * Visit Koh Hong or Koh Yao Yai

* Flight from SURAT THANI to BKK - If time left in BKK: - Explore BKK: Wat Pho / floating market / Maeklong Railway Market / Chinatown... - Or a day trip to Ayutthaya - Or a day at Erawan Waterfall (Haew Suwat) - Day +1 = Return to France

Questions I’m pondering: - Is this too ambitious? I think it might be... but since we’d rather see as much as possible than just lounge on a beach... - How to get around on this route? Bus or rental vehicle (which I’d prefer to avoid) - Are there any inconsistencies in the plan I’ve outlined? - Should I adjust any connections or prioritize differently? - Krabi vs. Koh Phi Phi? - Koh Hong vs. Koh Yao Yai?

We’ve booked the first night (using some leftover backpacking perks), but nothing else—so open to all ideas!

If you know a local agency that can offer advice (for a fee), that could work too, since the options feel endless...

In between, I’d like to gradually head north to visit some less touristy islands on the Thai coast.

Since the weather is a big risk during this period, I’d love to hear your recommendations.

Hello, For my partner’s birthday during our trip to Thailand, I’d love to take her on a "spa" day to beautiful waterfalls and/or hot springs (and maybe find a nice hotel nearby, plus a lovely night and a massage to complete the experience!). We’ll be there between January 29 and February 11, 2026, which is the dry season in many regions... Bummer if we arrive and only find a trickle of water for the surprise! We won’t be heading north—we’re doing Bangkok, then Krabi, and an island in the south. I’d spotted the hot springs near Krabi, like Namtok Ron Khlong Thom (and maybe the Emerald Pool), but what will the water levels be like there at that time of year? I’d also considered Erawan Falls, even if it means leaving Bangkok for a day/night, but same question about the water flow...

Has anyone here been to these places or have any feedback? Or another spot like this that fits within our planned route? Thanks in advance, and have a great day everyone!

Back then, I spent 6 weeks there with my partner, traveling backpacker-style without ever booking anything in advance, and we always managed to find a guesthouse. Now we think our son is old enough to travel the same way.

Do you still find it just as easy to snag a guesthouse room everywhere?

What’s the average price range these days in the north and the south?

I’m planning a trip to Thailand in October or November, and I wanted to check about health precautions: malaria treatment, vaccinations (hepatitis A or others...). I’ll mostly be in the northern region, around Chiang Mai, where I’ll spend a lot of time in nature and the mountains. Then I’ll head south to Phuket or Krabi and visit Khao Sok National Park. I’ll finish up in Bangkok, with a likely detour to Kanchanaburi.

From what I understand, for a stay of less than 60 days, I don’t need a visa (I’m a French national)? I just need to fill out the TDAC form 3 to 5 days before arrival?

Hi there, I’m heading to Thailand at the end of June (I know it’s not the best time, but I don’t have a choice) for three and a half weeks, and I’d love your advice on the itinerary. I’d like to visit Koh Lanta, Ko Lipe, Ko Chang, and Ko Kood. What do you think is the ideal order based on the travel logistics? My initial plan was this, after a night in Bangkok to recover from the flight: 1: Flight Bangkok – Krabi, then boat Krabi – Koh Lanta 2: Boat Koh Lanta – Ko Lipe 3: Boat Koh Lanta – Krabi, then flight Krabi – Bangkok, then flight Bangkok – Trat, and finally boat Trat – Ko Chang (quite a long day!) 4: Boat Ko Chang – Ko Kood 5: Boat Ko Kood – Trat, then flight Trat – Bangkok for the return trip.

Hi there, I’ve been visiting Thailand for about twenty years now. We’ve been there around 5-6 times, always spending 2-3 days in BKK and then heading to Koh Samui. This year, we wanted to explore the southeast coast of Thailand for a change—from Hua Hin down to Surat Thani. We were strongly advised against going any further south.

However, we noticed that the beaches in Hua Hin aren’t exactly stunning, and the further south you go, the more beautiful they get—white, fine sand like in Samui. Do you have any recommendations for gorgeous beaches along this coast? Thanks!

I’m heading back to Thailand soon, and from what I’ve been reading, it seems some beaches/islands are infested with these dreaded sandflies!

I’ve noted the remedy: rub the bitten area with 90% alcohol, then apply soothing cream.

But prevention is better than cure!

Which areas should I avoid right now?

Are there seasons that are more prone to these itchy invasions than others?

I’ve already stayed in Hua Hin, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Krabi, and Phuket without any issues like this.

I’d love to keep it that way...

Train or taxi (which app should I use for Thailand?) to Phetchaburi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations?)

Daytime train to Surat Thani – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Pick up the rental car and head to Khao Sok – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Ko Kho Khao – 3 nights – relaxation (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Phang Nga Bay – 1 night (any base recommendations?)

Excursion in the bay, then drive to Krabi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations) or any other spot with beautiful, quiet beaches that you might know?

Return to Surat Thani – overnight train to Bangkok, then Ayutthaya (any hotel recommendations?)

Visit the site and transfer to the airport – sniff, time to head back!

If you have other suggestions, keeping in mind the trip’s vibe: beach time without crowds or entertainment, a bit of nature, a bit of culture, no stress... No domestic flights and charming accommodations (not at 150 € per night, even though the budget is reasonable!)

Hi everyone, I know my post might sound a bit repetitive with the questions asked regularly on this forum, but I’m feeling a little lost and thought I’d still ask for your help. Here’s my situation: I’m traveling to Thailand with my wife and 12-year-old son during the February 2025 school holidays. We’ll be spending 12 nights in the country. So far, I only have our flight tickets to and from Phuket. Now, I need to plan an itinerary that lets us discover beautiful places and the culture of this country. I’d like to stay by the sea, with stunning fine-sand beaches and breathtaking landscapes in areas that aren’t too urban, but also be able to see some beautiful monuments, typical villages, and wildlife not too far away. That said, I don’t want to be lost deep in the jungle either—I’d like a bit of atmosphere in the evenings (no nightclubs, but rather nice bars with music). I’ve done some research and here’s a first draft of what I might do:

Spend my first 3 nights in the suburbs of Phuket to explore the city and the province more broadly, Then head to Ko Yao Noi for 2 nights to discover the charms of Phang Nga Bay, Next, fly from Krabi to spend 4 nights on Koh Samui (maybe with a little excursion to Ko Pha Ngan?), Then fly back to Krabi to reach Koh Phi Phi for 2 nights, Finally, return to the Phuket area for my last night in Thailand to be close for my flight the next day.
