Au Grand Canyon: j'ai réservé au mather south rim campground.

A monument valley: le terrain de camping dans le village même de Monument Valley est-il recommandable? Ce terrain fonctionne sans réservation...serait-il avantageux d'avoir un plan B. Aussi, je voulais savoir si un tour guidé avec les indiens est recommandé ou c'est possible de voir par nous autre même les attraits touristiques (West and East Mitten Buttes, dune de Sand springs. etc.)

Au Lake Powell: Je sais que nous pouvons installer notre tente sur les berges, mais il faut avoir un certain équipement sanitaire (!!)...qu'en est-il??? Est-ce quelqu'un a été au Wahweap Campground? D'autres suggestions.

Je prépare une quatrième "expédition" aux states car j'adore les grands parcs nord américains. Je retourne donc a yellowstone, grand tetons avec cette fois la découverte du parc des glaciers et peut être une extension vers les rocheuses canadiennes.

Quelqu'un a-il déjà exploré cette région et pourrais me donner des infos.

J'ai lu que des restrictions vont s'appliquer concernant le voyage au Laos à cause du sommet de l'ASEAN; c'est valable du 22 novembre au 1er décembre apparemment.

Les voici :

1) No visa on arrival at the Nong Khai crossing 2) No international flight arrivals from Wattay Airport are allowed 3) ALL accommodation reservations in Vientiane during said period have been reverted to the Lao government - ie if you thought you had a reservation, it's time to check with your hotel/agent 4) All tourist sites in Vientiane will be closed 5) If you have a flight into Vientiane in this period with either a domestic or international connection, you will be allowed to land at Wattay airport and make the connection, however you will NOT be allowed to leave the airport 6) IMPORTANT No overland transport into or out of Vientiane prefuncture will be allowed. This makes land travel from the north to the south (or vice versa) impossible. 7) entry into other parts of the country are fine, however your visa is deemed NOT VALID for entry to Vientiane prefuncture during this period.

Nous louerons une voiture (l'idéal est d'être 4!), et nous irons en auberges de jeunesse et motel, le tout dans un esprit simple, de decouverte avec un melange de ville et de campagne, de visites et de restos. Décembre 96, je rencontre Britta dans un train thaïlandais, et nous partageons une chambre dans un guest house à l’arrivée à Bangkok. Le lendemain, nous tombons sur une très chouette anglaise vivant à Sydney. Nous passons 3 ou 4 jours ensemble comme trois amies de longues dates, ayant l’impression que nous nous connaissons depuis toujours… Kim partait bosser aux Philippines, Britta partait sur les îles Thaïes, et moi j’allais au Cambodge, essayer de bosser comme prof ou autre, et me faire des tunes pour rejoindre le bel australien que je venais de quitter 1 semaine auparavant, mais j’ai pas réussi à mettre des sous de côté, et 6 mois après je rentrais à Bruxelles…

Nous n’avions pas encore d’adresses e-mail… Fin 97, j’envoie une p’tite carte postale d’Inde à Kim, en Australie.

Août 98, je suis avec mon bel australien sur une île paradisiaque… Je vous dis le nom 😉 "Hinchinbrook Island", au large de Cardwell, dans le North Tropical Queensland australien… Durant 3 jours entiers nous n’avons pas croisé un seul être humain… Le hamac géant sous les arbres, la pluie quelque fois durant la nuit, les coups de soleil sur les fesses, les bains de minuit et, et non ça suffit comme ça! 😊😛 Le quatrième jour, un couple arriva sur la plage… Je mis mon sarong, et allât leur dire bonjour… La femme et moi nous sommes regardées dans les yeux… La bouche s’agrandissant de plus en plus "Bangkooooooook"!!!!!!! Kiiiiiiim! C’est pas vrai??? 😮😄

Elle m’a hébergé plusieurs semaines chez elle à Sydney par la suite. Et nous nous sommes encore revues en 2003 à Paris!!!

En attendant je vais commencer par partir 1 mois en nouvelle zélande. Le but étant de faire le tour de l'île sud ou de l'île nord en vélo. C'est difficile de choisir entre les 2 alors si vous pouvez influer mon choix... De plus j'ai déjà tout le matos (vtt + remorque) et j'aimerai partir avec, alors si vous avez déjà pris l'avion avec votre matos j'attends vos commentaires. Merci à tous pour votre aide.

Happy New Year 2026! We’re planning a trip to Botswana. Thanks in advance for your tips on getting from Maun to Kasane (or the other way around) by road (taxi or rental car) or by air. Is it possible by road? If so, which route is best? And by air, what do you think of Air Botswana? Mackair seems really expensive to us. Best regards

I’m just starting to plan our trip for late August 2026, but I’ve read multiple times that campsite bookings need to be made *way* in advance if we want to secure a spot—especially in the parks. Before I get too far into my road book, I’d love to get a sense of what “way in advance” actually means.

That leads to another question: what’s the best *channel* for making these reservations? Can I find a list of campsites online?

From what I’ve gathered, there aren’t any fenced campsites—is wild camping allowed?

I’ll admit, I’m short on time, and reading a few threads here has shown me how quick and helpful the experts are 😉.

We’re a group of 4 and plan to rent a 4x4. Rooftop tents seem like the better option given the wildlife (and, well, *people* roaming freely), especially compared to Namibia (which we visited in 2018).

India inaugurates the new Navi Mumbai International Airport and the final phase of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3—a major turning point for the country’s infrastructure. Mumbai, India’s economic capital, is entering a new era of modernization. The Indian government has officially inaugurated the Navi Mumbai International Airport, one of the country’s most ambitious infrastructure projects, along with the final phase of Metro Line 3, a key axis to ease congestion in the megacity. The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), located about 35 km from the city center, aims to eventually handle up to 60 million passengers per year. Built to reduce pressure on the already saturated Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport, it features ultra-modern facilities, sustainable design, and cutting-edge technologies for air traffic management and energy efficiency. At the same time, the completion of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3, connecting Colaba to Bandra-SEEPZ, marks a major advancement in urban mobility. This 33.5 km underground section will significantly reduce travel time and congestion in a city known for its chronic traffic jams. These two projects reflect the Indian government’s commitment to transforming Mumbai into a global hub, combining connectivity, sustainability, and economic development.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), a project two decades in the making, has finally come to fruition. Phase one of the airport was inaugurated Wednesday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. Although the first phase, which includes Terminal 1 and Runway 1 with 10 bus gates and 29 aero bridges, has been inaugurated, flight operations will not begin immediately.

"Post-inauguration, the airport will be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for a security sweep, which could take 30 to 45 days. We also need to mobilize customs and immigration teams and complete end-to-end testing, which is a 45-60-day process," said Arun Bansal, CEO of Adani Airports Holdings Ltd, developer and operator of the NMIA, during a press briefing at the NMIA premises Monday. Even though an exact date hasn’t been announced, NMIA CEO Captain B V J K Sharma and Bansal said commercial flights are expected to begin in December 2025. Plans of major carriers Three major airlines—Air India, Akasa Air, and IndiGo—have already signed on to shift part of their operations to NMIA. Last month, Air India announced plans to start with 20 daily departures (40 air traffic movements) through Air India Express, connecting 15 Indian cities in the first phase. By mid-2026, it aims to scale up to 55 daily departures, including up to five international flights. IndiGo, which made its announcement in May, plans to operate 18 daily flights to more than 15 cities from the first day of commercial operations and intends to expand to 140 daily flights—30 of which will be international—within 18 months. In June, Akasa Air said it will start with 15 daily domestic flights, scaling up to over 300 domestic and 50 international flights a week within a few months. When asked which airline will operate the first flight, Bansal said, "We want all three airlines to be there on Day 1. It depends on who has the earliest slot that day, and the destination choice lies entirely with the airlines." Operations to begin with 12-hour window In the first month, flights will operate between 8 am and 8 pm, with the 12-hour window likely to be extended as operations stabilize. Although NMIA’s full capacity is 40 air traffic movements (ATMs) per hour, the initial phase will handle 10 ATMs—allowing 10 aircraft to land or take off every hour. Airlines are expected to announce routes and ticket sales soon. Touted as an international aviation hub, NMIA positions Mumbai alongside global twin-airport cities such as London, Dubai, and New York, and plans to launch both domestic and international operations from Day 1. Concession for international carriers When asked if international carriers will be given any concessions, Bansal said, "For international airlines, we will not charge them parking fees for the first year." The duo added that NMIA aims to reclaim Mumbai’s rightful place on the global aviation map. "For a decade… travelers didn’t have a choice—airlines couldn’t get additional slots (at the Mumbai airport), so traffic shifted to Delhi. We are course-correcting that with NMIA. It won’t happen overnight, but over the next five–seven years, you’ll see the change," said Bansal. He noted that Mumbai currently lacks direct flights to major destinations in Europe and the U.S., something NMIA hopes to change. "If you see east-to-west flights, Mumbai is a natural stop," added Sharma. As reported earlier, NMIA will eventually feature four terminals and two parallel runways, with a total capacity to handle up to 90 million passengers per annum (MPPA), compared to 20 MPPA in the first phase. In the long term, the airport aims to serve as a key transfer hub between the East and the West, enabling passengers from Southeast Asia to connect seamlessly to Europe and North America.

After visiting Newfoundland Island, we took the ferry to Blanc-Sablon, a municipality located on the Lower North Shore in Quebec, Canada.

Instead of heading back to Quebec via Sydney in Nova Scotia, we decided to explore the Lower North Shore—the least-known region of Quebec—as well as Labrador, which is part of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

From Blanc-Sablon, we drove to the municipality of Vieux-Fort via Route 138. This road ends in that municipality.

Afterward, we crossed Labrador to return to the Old Capital. Only one road allows this route. It wasn’t fully paved during our trip, but it is now.

We made stops in different areas to go on hikes that let us discover some incredible landscapes.

I’m planning and budgeting a trip to Australia for August 2026, lasting 40 days.

Here’s the current itinerary: Arrival at Port Macquarie Airport in New South Wales and return from Cairns Airport in Queensland. - South West Rock - Cap Ridge Park - Springbrook Park - Stradbroke Island - Maleny - Noosa - Rainbow Beach - K’Gari - Gladstone - Heron Island - Airlie Beach - Townsville - Magnetic Island - Cairns - Cape Tribulation

My main issue is transport to cover all of this.

The first leg is already tricky—I haven’t found a way to rent a car in Port Macquarie and drop it off in South West Rock. And if we keep the vehicle until Cleveland (8 days) before taking the ferry to Stradbroke Island, it’s already around 1000 €.

- Are there any systems where we could buy a vehicle in Port Macquarie and be sure it’s bought back at the end of the trip in Cairns?

- Do you know of any Australian online car rental sites?

As for trains, they’re not really an option for our stay in New South Wales. In Queensland, I found the Queensland Rail Travel website with a Brisbane–Cairns line, but trains don’t run every day.

- Do you know of any other train companies in Queensland that connect coastal cities from Brisbane to Cairns?

For flights, I checked Queensland with Qantas, and most routes require a stopover in Brisbane, which wastes a lot of time, and the prices are still high.

Do you know of any low-cost airlines for domestic flights in Australia?

We’re a family with kids aged 10 and 12, and we’ll be in Sri Lanka during the Kandy Esala Perahera. I’d love to know if it’s really worth prioritizing the procession on the final night—is it that different? What do the other nights miss out on? From what I’ve gathered, you can watch for free if you’re okay with sitting on the ground, which isn’t an issue for us. In that case, is it still easy to get a good view? We’ll be coming from Jaffna—are train tickets to Kandy harder to get during the Perahera? Also, August 8th is a public holiday. Do trains still run on public holidays?
