Nous sommes dans la période des envois des cartes du programme Flying Blue par AF/KLM pour l'année 2011. Il y a-t-il d'heureux nouveaux élus Platinum à vie parmi les voyageurs fréquents qui sont sur ce forum ? 😎
Pour ma part, j'ai reçu la mienne, pas d'indications particulières, c'est exactement une Platinum classique. Accompagnée d'un courrier d'accompagnement qui précise qu'elle sera maintenant renouvelée automatiquement tous les ans.

Pouvez-vous nous préciser votre passé en nombre d'années comme FP rouge, particulièrement celle qui a été la première à être prise en compte car de nombreux débats, au sein de la communauté de FlyerTalk, n'ont pas vraiment tracé le point de départ des 10 ans.

Oui j'ai suivi les nombreux débats sur FlyerTalk ! De mon côté, j'avais reçu il y a deux ans un courrier m'informant qu'il me restait deux ans à me qualifier pour être PFL, et une indication (sans courrier) sur le site AF l'année dernière m'informant qu'il me restait un an. Je n'arrive pas à me souvenir (et n'ai pas accès à mes dossiers) si j'ai reçu ma première carte FP ROUGE en mars 2001 (qualification sur l'année 2000) ou mars 2002 (première qualification sur l'année 2001, donc). La logique voudrait que ce soit mars 2002, ce qui ferait bien dix années consécutives équivalent Platinum avant d'être PFL. La dernière fois que j'ai appelé FB, la personne ne pouvait pas remonter avant 2005. Je vais appeler à nouveau, pour voir.

Je suis moi aussi devenu FB Platinum à vie en mars 2011.
J'étais devenu FP rouge le 2 juin 2000 sans interruption jusqu'au 4 juin 2005. Le 5 juin 2005 (date de la création de Flying Blue), j'ai commencé directement en tant que platinum. J'ai donc terminé ma période de 10 ans le 1er juin 2010 mais ne suis devenu platinum à vie qu'en mars 2011.
Pour ma part je regrette vivement que Flying Blue ne considère pas ce statut comme un statut à part entière, contrairement à Singapore Airlines pour les solitaire PPS club. Chez FB, un platinum à vie n'a aucun avantage particulier par rapport à un platinum (si ce n'est bien sûr d'être certain de le rester à vie). Au niveau des PIL (Passenger Information List) utilisées à bord des avions par les PNC, ils ne sont pas identifiés comme étant Platinum à vie de même que dans les systèmes d'information utilisés par AF. Il n'y a guère que Flying Blue qui sache que vous êtes Platinum à vie! Je trouve cela dommage car avoir passé 10 ans d'affilée au plus haut niveau du programme mériterait sans doute davantage.

Oui j'étais platinum entre le 1er avril 2010 et le 31 mars 2011. Si je n'avais pas été platinum sur cette période, je n'aurais pas atteint 10 années consécutives de platinum.

Cela dit, avec les nouvelles conditions de la carte AMEX AF-KLM Platinum (voir le fil de discussion sur ce sujet, un des plus lus du site et des plus actifs 😏) vous pouvez partager votre statut Platinum avec un proche, et ça, je vous avoue, c'est quand même sympa. 😎 Il aura votre statut et donc les avantages Platinum à chaque fois qu'il voyage sur AF-KLM Évidemment, il ne faut pas désigner une personne avec qui vous voyagez souvent, mais au contraire quelqu'un d'autre. On pouvait faire des mois à 8000/10 000 miles 😉🤪 en faisant un A/R par semaine. Lucky man ! Et on ajoutait les miles statuts de la carte AMEX. On peut toujours gagner 2000 miles sur un AR en France, mais ce n'est valable que sur les classes A, J, W, S .
le moins cher à 440€, sur Nantes par exemple .
Ce qui donne 45 vols AR pour 20000€ et la carte Platinum.
Il y a sûrement des optimisations, notamment si on est abonné mais ça donne un ordre de grandeur...

c' est vrai que c' est bien d' être platinum à vie ...aprés plus de 12 ans comme passager en haute contribution .
à la retraite c' est cool d' utiliser les salons , le comptoir business et de remonter les files d' attentes de 200 passagers , avantage grace auquel nous ne volons que sur AF .

Or, j'ai arrêté de voler aussi souvent depuis octobre et n'obtiendrai pas le niveau platinum sur l'année 2013. Mais, en novembre 2013, je serai encore platinum donc...?

A mon avis c' est bon , car c' est votre statut de 2014 qui ne " serait " plus platinum si vous n'aviez pas volé suffisament en 2013 . donc les 10 ans consécutifs sont validés .

Cela signifie que tous les vols enregistrés jusqu’au 31 décembre seront pris en en compte pour déterminer si vous conservez votre statut actuel ou si vous passez à un niveau d’adhésion directement supérieur ou inférieur. Une fois ce contrôle effectué, vos Miles-Statut et vos vols aller simple sont remis à zéro

Mais encore une fois comme je le disais précédemment, il ne s'agit pas d'un statut particulier au sein de flying blue. On est platinum, comme les autres platinum (avec il est rai l'assurance de le rester!). Christophe.

En ce qui me concerne je n'ai pas encore 10 ans de Platinum, mais j'ai les miles status pour l'etre dans 4 ans ( plus de 360K ). Quelqu'un sait il si je peux demander ma carte des maintenant avec la mention " for life" ?

Cela me parait peu probable car le maintient du statut est certes conditionné au report dans votre cas mais surtout il faut effectuer 1 vol par an... car par exemple si vous ne volez pas pendant 3ans avec AF ou partenaire vous serez déclassé ivory... et cela n'a rien a voir avec les miles statut... ceux ci est bien théorique mais c'est une des modalités
Non vous n'avez pas besoin d'avoir le statut cette année car vous l'avez déjà jusqu'au 31 mars 2014.

Cette lettre précise que "vous allez continuer à bénéficier de vos avantages Platinum, indépendamment du nombre de miles-statut requis et cela, aussi longtemps que vous le souhaiterez (....) votre nouvelle carte sera automatiquement renouvelée chaque année" Quant au logo "FOR LIFE", en anglais, il est plus argenté/neuf que PLATINUM, ce qui fait certes un peu rajouté...mais ne chipotons pas 🙂

Je suis dans le meme cas que notre ami ci dessus. Vous pensez qu'on peut demander à FB la carte for life meme si cela ne fait pas 10 ans mais qu'on a les miles en report suffisant pour les 3 ans qui viennent ?

surtout que perso je ne l'aurai probablement jamais vu que mon compteur est redescendu à 0 avec un passager par l'etape gold a cause des réformes FB lol

Le seul et unique plus réservé au porteur de la Platinum, c'est le doublement des miles acquis par les vols, car Sky Priority est accessible dès la Silver (ou si on vole en Premium eco sur AF/KL) et le salon dès la Gold. Mais ne chipotons pas...

je réserve en éco que pour les courts courriers et les vols intra-europe
pour les vacances, je trouve ça dommage de chercher à économiser pour se farcir une cabine bondée et arriver crevé après plus de 10h de vol

J'ai été club 2000 pendant 9 ans puis platinium pendant de nombreuses années (avant de baisser a gold) ce qui devrait remplir le critère des 10 années pour accéder au statut de platinium a vie. Pourtant air France se refuse a m'accorder cela. Qu'en pensez vous ? Voyez vous une solution pour accéder au statut de platinium a vie ?

Je suis moi-même platinum à vie depuis plusieurs années et je peux vous dire que le statut club 2000 n'entre a absolument pas en ligne de compte pour l'obtention du statut platinum a vie puisque la carte club 2000 n'est pas liée a la fréquence de vos voyage mais à votre statut social. Vous pouvez être club 2000 sans jamais voyager sur air France. Il est donc normal que ce soit le seul statut platinum qui soit pris en compte car lui seul est lié a la fidélité que vous montrez à Air France. Il vous faut donc bien 10 années consécutive platinum pour obtenir le graal du platinum à vie.

Dans ce cas après avoir entendu ce que vous dites j'estime avoir été un peu "dupé" par Air France. En effet lorsque j'ai eu le statut de club 2000 j'avais une fréquence de voyage qui me permettait l'obtention de la carte platinium, mais on m'a octroyé la carte club 2000 en me la présentant comme l'échelon supérieur, je peux peut être jouer la dessus.
J'ai déjà envoyé une lettre a flying blue mais sans succès ...
Je ne pense pas qu'une maladie pourrait appuyer ma demande car celle ci est indépendante de leur volonté non ?

Ce qui est étonnant dans votre cas c'est que tout en étant club 2000 vous auriez dû avoir en sous-jacent une carte flying blue sur laquelle vous auriez accumulé des miles. La plupart des club 2000 sont en même temps ivory, silver, gold, ou platinum selon leur fréquence de voyage. Ce qui fait que lorsque vous cessez d'être club 2000 vous continuez avec votre carte flying blue. Since it came into force, Regulation 261/2004 of the European Parliament and Council, which defines air passenger rights, has faced fierce resistance from airlines, backed by IATA (the association representing almost all passenger airlines).
Beyond the airlines' often abusive—and even frequently bad-faith—resistance to passenger rights, IATA has been lobbying EU institutions for years, with the Council paying close attention for a long time.
As a result, the Council and the Commission have been proposing revisions to Regulation 261/2004 for years that are particularly unfavorable to passengers. The latest attempt nearly eliminated the right to compensation for delays of 3 hours or more upon arrival at the final destination.
However, since this is a regulation of both the European Parliament AND the Council, the two bodies had to agree.
But the European Parliament has always stood firm, consistently responding that passenger rights must be preserved.
After 11 years of struggle, it seems likely that we’re finally nearing the end of the match between the European Commission, the Council (the 27 heads of state or government), and the European Parliament.
Indeed, the Commission and the European Parliament have agreed on a text that will be debated again on Monday, July 6, 2026, with a vote scheduled for July 7, 2026. It’s very likely that this text, which would come into force in a year, will be adopted.
The main changes would be as follows: - Families with children will no longer be forced to pay to sit together on planes; - A flight will be considered canceled (not just delayed) if it departs more than one hour late; - Right to compensation for arrival at the final destination if the delay exceeds 3 hours (no longer "3 hours OR more"). The arrival time will be when the plane, having reached its parking spot, engages its parking brakes (no longer when the aircraft door opens); - Airlines can no longer refuse boarding or charge extra on the return flight for a passenger who didn’t take the outbound flight; - If a flight is canceled, the airline must, at the same time as informing passengers of the event, offer the choice between a refund and re-routing, and inform them of their rights to assistance and, if applicable, compensation; - The airline must, without undue delay, inform passengers of the reason; - In the case of a connecting flight, if the connection is missed and the delay at the final destination entitles the passenger to compensation, the responsible airline will be liable. This is very different from the current situation, where, under the KLM ruling, any airline operating a segment of the flight is liable for compensation. This promises more disputes that the Court of Justice of the European Union will have to resolve if two separate airlines operating segments of a connecting flight are both responsible for the delay. If the airline refuses compensation on the grounds of "extraordinary circumstances," it must specify which type of case it refers to from the list in the annex of the new regulation. If the case isn’t on the list, the airline must explain what the event was, why it qualifies as extraordinary circumstances with "clear, substantial, and concise" explanations, and why it’s directly linked to the reason given. It must also declare what "reasonable measures" were taken to mitigate the issue. This is, of course, a huge change in the regulation, with the clear goal of preventing airlines from declaring just anything as "extraordinary circumstances" to avoid compensation. - If, within 3 hours of a last-minute canceled or delayed flight, the airline hasn’t offered re-routing under comparable transport conditions and as soon as possible—whether on one of its own flights or another airline’s—the passenger will have the right to arrange their own re-routing and demand a refund for the new ticket, up to 400% of the original ticket price. I’m planning a trip to Georgia this summer and I’ve been comparing some airlines. I’m not particularly set on flying with Pegasus (though it’s convenient with direct flights from Lyon to Tbilisi), but right off the bat, Pegasus states this:
As of January 1, 2026, all foreign nationals traveling to Georgia for tourism purposes will be required to present valid travel health insurance. Guests who fail to provide the relevant health insurance will not be accepted on our flights to Georgia. Sincerely, Pegasus Airlines
In other words, if you don’t show proof of travel health insurance, you’ll be denied boarding. Personally, my credit card insurance has always been enough for me, and I’d rather not take out extra coverage... Have any of you run into this issue before? If not, what do you think? Why is Pegasus asking for this proof? Other airlines don’t mention it at all.

I had one checked bag and one carry-on sized 40x24x30, which I usually take on low-cost flights, and I didn’t have any issues. Of course, there’s huge pressure from European agencies, which are forced to disrupt their plans or even cancel trips because of this. Personally, I’ve got a trip planned for February 2026 to the southern parks in Tanzania, so I’ll be keeping an eye on how this develops. Do any of you have updates? Thanks!

Whether in the Middle East or Africa, many travelers are stranded—maybe for a long time... A heartfelt thought for them and the struggles this will cause.

They’ll be using their new A330-900 neo.

I’m really surprised because in TUI’s new tour packages, the airlines they’re using are of low quality. Before, they used to prioritize major airlines, but now it’s small airlines from small countries—companies with terrible ratings and borderline safety concerns. I even just noticed this note for a Tanzania trip: "We inform you that the domestic flight segment in Tanzania included in your trip is operated by an airline listed on the European Union’s list of air carriers subject to an operating ban within the European Union. This ban only applies to European Union airspace, meaning this airline is not permitted to take off, land, or fly over European airspace. However, this airline is authorized to operate in Tanzania."

We need assistance for check-in and boarding/disembarking (my husband is a mobility-impaired traveler who uses a cane and/or a walker). We’ve done a cruise return from Dubai to Paris CDG before in 2016, with a layover in Istanbul, but we booked the transfer and return flight with COSTA. For our current plan, it would be with Celestyal, which doesn’t offer round-trip flights from Paris to Dubai. Should we book very far in advance, or is a few months before departure enough (4/6 months)? We’re thinking of arriving the day before the ship departs, so we’d need to stay overnight in Dubai—either on the way there or for the return flight, depending on the flight schedules. Could you recommend a hotel not too far from the airport, and how to get to the port from the airport?

So, I’d love to know: how strict are EasyJet’s ID checks? Do they enforce validity rules strictly and refuse boarding if the ID isn’t valid? Or is it more of a luck-of-the-draw situation?

Hey everyone,
I booked a flight with RyanAir for next month, with the priority+ option and two cabin bags. So I can take a 10 kg bag with dimensions 55x40x20 in the cabin (plus another smaller one). The problem is that the smallest suitcase I have (which is supposed to be designed specifically for cabin size standards, according to the manual) has the following dimensions: 55x37x21, so it's just 1 cm over (wheels included) on one of the measurements.
I wasn’t too worried at first, but I’ve read dozens of stories about people’s misadventures and the hassles they’ve had with RyanAir.
Since I don’t want my suitcase to end up in the hold (that would waste time picking it up when I’m already arriving late and need to get to the city center), nor do I want to pay an extra fee (apparently 50 €) for the outbound and return flights for just 1 centimeter—especially since I paid for the "priority+" option and I’m not exactly rolling in money—I’d love some advice.
Have any of you been in the same situation? I’ve read that with this airline, they check bags in templates (testing them in different positions) and are completely uncompromising. I tried contacting customer service, who, as luck would have it, "don’t handle this kind of request," and a rep I spoke to wasn’t much help.

I booked a flight with RyanAir for next month, with the priority+ option and two cabin bags. So I can take a 10 kg bag with dimensions 55x40x20 in the cabin (plus another smaller one). The problem is that the smallest suitcase I have (which is supposed to be designed specifically for cabin size standards, according to the manual) has the following dimensions: 55x37x21, so it's just 1 cm over (wheels included) on one of the measurements.
I wasn’t too worried at first, but I’ve read dozens of stories about people’s misadventures and the hassles they’ve had with RyanAir.
Since I don’t want my suitcase to end up in the hold (that would waste time picking it up when I’m already arriving late and need to get to the city center), nor do I want to pay an extra fee (apparently 50 €) for the outbound and return flights for just 1 centimeter—especially since I paid for the "priority+" option and I’m not exactly rolling in money—I’d love some advice.
Have any of you been in the same situation? I’ve read that with this airline, they check bags in templates (testing them in different positions) and are completely uncompromising. I tried contacting customer service, who, as luck would have it, "don’t handle this kind of request," and a rep I spoke to wasn’t much help.

I’d like to return to Uzbekistan next April for 10 days with my husband to visit our son who lives there. We went last July and I bought the flight tickets (direct flight from Paris on Uzbekistan Airways) about 2 months in advance at very reasonable prices. I’ve been checking for late April for a few weeks now, and the tickets are much more expensive and keep rising. I can’t figure out if the prices are going up because it’s still a bit too early to buy and they’ll likely drop if the planes aren’t full, or if it’s because the period is actually in high demand. For reference, last year I bought my son’s ticket on May 30th for a departure on June 3rd—just 3 days later—at a very low price that didn’t budge at all.
Just in case, does anyone know the pricing trends for this airline and can advise me? Should I wait or not?

My wife bought a flight ticket (Lucky Air) under her Thai maiden name and was issued a Chinese visa on her new Thai passport but with her French married name (due to administrative requirements). She was denied boarding by the airline in Bangkok for the flight to Kunming—resulting in the loss of our round-trip flight tickets, including mine since we were traveling together—despite presenting both passports at the airline counter at the same time.

I can't seem to find flights between the Cape Verde islands on the airline's website. No matter the date or route, I always get the same response: "no flights on this date." See the photo. Would anyone have an explanation? Surely not all flights are fully booked in July?

Has anyone managed to get a refund from Oman Air?
After a delayed flight, we missed our connecting flight to get home!! At midnight, the flight attendant booked us on a flight to Nice via Munich, even though we were in Munich and wanted to get back to Nice... Too tired from the trip, we didn’t notice the mistake!! The next day, of course, the booking wasn’t valid!! We had to pay again for the flight back to Nice... I’m really struggling!! I think they’re giving me the runaround!! I’ve sent several emails, tried Messenger and WhatsApp, but the only responses I get are: "We need to investigate!! We’ll get back to you in 15 days!!" It’s been over a month!!
I just sent a registered letter (LRAR) to their office at Paris Charles de Gaulle, which is still open!!
Do you have any other suggestions for me?

Sri Lanka has announced it could run out of fuel in the coming weeks if the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked. The government has implemented a mandatory four-day workweek to save oil, and there are long lines at gas stations due to fears of an early shortage.
In Vietnam, the government has warned all airlines that flights will need to be reduced due to a lack of kerosene. The country imports two-thirds of its jet fuel from China and Thailand, but both countries have now banned exports out of fear of domestic shortages.
The state is asking airlines to plan ahead and park aircraft to drastically reduce operations, starting with domestic flights and then international ones. International carriers will also need to cut back on their rotations.
This will begin in the coming days. 🙁

First question: Will my checked baggage be transferred automatically? I have a single ticket from KTI to YUL (Air Canada ticket—KTI-ICN operated by Asiana (codeshare) and ICN-YUL by Air Canada).
Second question: I saw it’s possible to join free guided tours (Airport Transit Tour). What do you think of this kind of service? And is my "actual" layover time (accounting for security checks, check-in, etc.) enough to do one of these tours?

I'm heading to Namibia next May. I'm planning to take a first flight from Paris to Johannesburg with Air France, departing at 11:20 PM and arriving at 11:05 AM in Johannesburg. Then a second flight from Johannesburg to Windhoek at 3:25 PM with South African Airways.
Four hours between the two flights seems enough to catch my connection, but a friend told me I should maybe take the 5:30 PM flight instead because I need to go through immigration, collect my luggage, and check in again. Apparently, I have to do this because I bought the two tickets separately (it's actually much cheaper).
What do you think?
Also, in terms of South African airlines, which one do you think is the most reliable between South African Airways and Airlink?

We’re a family of four traveling together to Seoul, with two separate bookings.
Our original itinerary was: Madrid → Doha → Seoul (March 23–24)
The issue is that our entire outbound flight was canceled, and the airline simply rescheduled the Madrid → Doha leg. Now we’re left with an incomplete journey, with no solution to reach our final destination (Seoul).
Since then:
- Can’t modify flights online (technical error every time) - Can’t get help via chat or WhatsApp - Phone support is unreachable, and the usual French number isn’t working right now
We don’t want a refund. We just want to be rerouted to Seoul, as our original ticket promised.
We’re flexible:
- On dates (we can leave on March 21 or 22 instead of the 23rd) - On the itinerary (different layovers if needed)
Have any of you dealt with this before? Do you know how to unlock a booking in this case or get a rerouting? We’re considering going straight to the airport to resolve it at the Qatar Airways counter....

We just received an email from Volotea saying our flight time has changed (by more than 2 hours).
The email states "you can request a free date change."
If I change the date, will the flight price stay the same as the original price, or will I have to pay the difference?
Specifically: Our flight on the 7th is 46.25 €, and the one on the 8th is 92.51 €. If we switch to the 8th, how much will we pay?
When I request the date change to the 8th, it says "No additional fees."
