Canada eTA refused

Hello everyone, I’m going on a tourist trip to Canada (Quebec) on September 1st. I filled out an eTA application 10 days ago but made a mistake on my passport number. I submitted a new application and had to send a copy of my passport, which I did correctly (unfortunately, I didn’t take a screenshot as proof). The next day, my eTA was refused! I made a third application this past Saturday, August 16th, and they confirmed receipt, but it’s now Monday evening and I still haven’t heard anything! I’m starting to seriously panic. It’s absolutely impossible to get help from a real person online! The Canadian Embassy in Brussels doesn’t handle eTA applications at all! I don’t know what to do. Can anyone help me, please? Thanks in advance 😢

hi What site did you use for your eTA application? Do you have a Belgian passport? When you first applied, did you get a confirmation receipt?

Re: eTA for Canada denied
Good evening, Caribou crew, Yes, I submitted my application on the official Canada.ca site, and my Belgian passport is brand new. Now they're asking me to explain why I lied when answering the eTA application question: "Have you ever been refused a visa, etc.?" I answered no because I've NEVER been refused a visa *or* a passport for *any* country!!! How can I prove that?? Wouldn’t I have been refused a passport if that were the case?! I don’t know who to turn to anymore, and I’m panicking because I’m supposed to leave on September 1st. The worst part is not being able to have a phone conversation with an employee to resolve the issue. Thanks for reading. Best regards,
CO
Hi Jacqueline, I’m currently in a similar situation. I applied for my eTA 10 days before departure, but I received an email saying I’d get a response within 72 hours. 48 hours have passed and I still haven’t heard anything, so I’m starting to panic—just like you mentioned, it seems impossible to reach a real person to sort this out. How did things work out for you? I’m hoping I’ll get a response within the 72 hours as promised by the Canadian authorities, but I’m tempted to submit a new eTA application right now to get the approval automatically, as it should have been (EU passport, no criminal record, no health issues, nothing that would justify this wait). What do you think?

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Seriously, you book trips without the eTA? You pay for flights with the reservations and then apply for an eTA 10 days before departure?

Wow, that’s not great!
