je viens vous demander de l'aide. Je compte emmener mon amie en Thailande pour ce qui sera notre premier passage dans la région, le temps d'un séjour d'une dizaine de jours. J'aimerais conjuguer les plaisirs d'une virée urbaine en découvrant Bangkok, aux plaisirs des iles en visitant la région de Phuket.
J'avais pensé à une première partie de séjour comme suit :
Arrivée à Bangkok a midi, après-midi visite
puis encore 3 jours sur place pour visiter le marché flottant, la cité impériale, le bouddha couché, les marchés de nuit, et autres curiosités locales... Puis ralier par un train de nuit + bus Phuket, arrivée le 4ème jour à midi.
Ensuite, nous avons donc 6 jours à "occuper"... que me conseiller vous?
Je pensais faire l'après midi à Phuket... Patong? ou alors direction une plage directement? A la recherche d'une plage au calme, que conseillez-vous? Sans être trop loin de Patong pour voir ce que ça donne le soir, si jamais on veut sortir un peu...
Ensuite, je refléchissais à un circuit : Phuket-Koh Phi Phi (2jours/1 nuit), suivi de Krabi une journée/1 nuit, la baie de Pnang Nga ensuite et retour sur Phuket en soirée... et si je fais ça il nous restera une journée et demie sur Phuket... est-ce une bonne idée? Y a t-il moyen de rajouter les îles Similan? Enfin bref, pour ceux qui connaissent la région, comment organiseriez vous vos journées???

la période de voyage serait début juillet. J'ai lu ici et là que ce n'était pas la meilleure période mais étant à Hong Kong pour une durée limitée, les destinations possibles à cette période et à prix abordables ne sont pas légions... Donc comme certains avis disent que ce n'est quand même pas affreux niveau météo, j'ai envie de tenter le coup...
Donc en gros, une dizaine de jours début juillet... idéalement 3-4 jours à Bangkok et la suite à Phuket et environs. Sachant que nous arriverions à Bangkok depuis HK et le retour serait directement depuis Phuket vers HK...
En juillet vous pouvez oublier les Similans c'est fermé. Pour 10 jours je vous conseillerai de prendre un avion Bangkok-Phuket, il y a plein de low cost qui y vont pour pas cher et ca vous ferai gagner un jour.
Ce que vous avez deja prévu est bien, un tour dans la baie de Phang Nga, un tour a Phi Phi...un petit tour a Koh Raya en plus peut-être et le reste a visiter et profiter de Phuket, ses plages, son view point, le cap Promthep, le Big Bouddha, etc... Ca va passer très vite et vous n'aurez peut-être pas le temps de tout voir et faire en si peu de temps 😉
Ok nous ferons notre possible, c'est les vacances, pas besoin de se mettre trop de pression. 🙂

Oui car "pas cher et plage paradisiaque" sont des mots qui vont très mal ensemble 😛 Vous êtes jeunes alors allez sur Patong, j'aime pas trop la plage ni la foule mais les autres plages risquent d'être un peu "mortes" en basse saison.
Il faut mieux réserver à l'avance, ou bien tout faire sur place en juillet?

En arrivant a BKK a midi vous prévoyez déjà une visite après midi !?? = difficile !...puisque quant il sera 13 h la bas pour vous il sera 7 h (nuit blanche au programe pendant le voyage presque garantie !)du matin pour vous et si vous n'avez pas bcp dormis dans l'avion pendant le trajet (ce qui arrivé à tous le monde je vous rassure de suite !)vous irais plutôt dormir que visiter la ville en arivant à BKK !.
Si vous prevoyez 3jours à BKK cela me parais "bon tarif "ou plutôt suffisent (à partir du jour N°2 surtout !!) pour visiter la ville et voir tout ce qui est à voir (marchés, choping, temples, ect)
Après => Phuket c'est OK aussi .....mais les "plages au calmes la bas"!? = il n'y à pas !!(ou "plus" plutôt ) des plages tranquilles à Phuket !...mais comme apparement vous partez "hors saison"!?.. vous ne serez pas trop envailli non plus sur place !...je vous consseille cartier de "Kata" ou "Rawai" quéstion tranquilité (ce sont les seules endroits au "calmes"(!?) sur Phuket , ..si on peu parler du "calme" dans cet endroit !?)
Ko Pi Pi = Ok !, ...surtout que c'est la basse saison !!..2 nuits c'est parffait (même 1nuit et 2jours c'est bien aussi)
Par contre , ...pour le reste (étant abitué depuis 20ans de la Thailande chaque année pendant au moins 2mois sur place !)il vas falloir prévoir du "repos" car le ritme que vous imposés exige plus de jours de presence sur place que les 10jours prévus !...
En force de courir vous ne verez pas grand chose de laThaïlande !...la bas c'est un autre ritme de vie que chez nous !...vous verez par vous même !!.

Cet endroit est tout simplement inomable , très polué , extremement brouillant, la plage (10 rangés des chaisses longues sur 7 m de plage en large !!!??)est un dépotoir d'ordures et des individus bizarres et "malsains" (toutes saisons conffondus !)fous , dengereux , .... à eviter avec "precaution d'usage" !...faire juste un tour d'une heure maxi pour vous y rendre compte par vous même et l'histoire de dire que vous étiez aussi à Patong et que vous avez vue "cela" !....des endroits comme ça c'est rare effectivement d'en trouver dans le monde entier !!, ...tellement que c'est imonde et infrequantable !.

En fait nous arriverons de Hong-Kong où nous habitons, donc le décalage horaire ne sera pas de la partie, ce qui est un avantage indéniable!
Si je comprends bien, Patong, j'y passe juste pour voir ce que c'est et ne pas rentrer "bête" sans avoir vu.😉 Mais c'est vrai que toutes les descriptions reçues ne sont vraiment pas enthousiastes, c'est le moins que l'on puisse dire!
Ensuite, bon Koh Phi Phi, si j'arrive de Phuket avec le premier bateau du matin, je peux faire Maya Bay dans l'après-midi? Quels sont les "immanquables"? Idéalement, nous passerions la nuit sur Koh Phi Phi, lieu à trouver d'ici là, ou bien à négocier directement à notre arrivée... et ensuite, le lendemain matin, je pensais rallier Krabi, et aller directement passer la journée à se doer la pillule et faire du snorkelling sur la plage de Rai Leh Beach qui est apparemment superbe... et le soir, rentrer passer la nuit sur Ao Nang... et le lendemain, faire une balade dans la baie de Pnang Nga et rallier Phuket en soirée... Qu'en pensez vous? Sachant qu'en fait, je comptais, on a quand meme 6 jours pleins pour faire ce programme à partir de Phuket... donc c'est pas forcément autant la course que ça? Sachant que faire les navettes en bateau ne doivent pas être des voyages si désagréables non?
Sinon, si tu veux de meilleures chances de passer entre les gouttes, il suffit d'aller sur les iles de la cote est plutot que sur celles de la cote ouest.
Normalement, a l'est, c'est la saison sèche en juillet, autant en profiter! 🙂
Tu peux aller sur l'archipel de Koh Chang, par exemple, pas loin de Bangkok, ce qui n'est pas plus mal sur un court séjour et il y a de quoi occuper 6 jours sans problème la-bas aussi (j'y ai passe quelques jours de plus et ne me suis pas ennuyée).
Ou alors, l'archipel de Samui, varié aussi, mais il y aura plus de monde.
Mon but est uniquement de vous faire parvenir les information utiles sans vous cacher la vérité sur tel ou tel endroit !, ....après à vous de voir (au verifier la véracité de mes propos aussi une sur place !)
Pour un 1er voyage je me dois de vous souligner juste quelques trucs, ... dont vous n'étes probablement pas consients cette fois en tout cas (normal car 1ere fois )à savoir : l'effet du décalage qui dure pendant 2-3 jours ...(chez certains pendant 15 j à mois !!.....et d'autres resterons carrement décalés après 15ans de thaïlande 😄😎) ...en arivent !.
Si vous êtes au "top" niveau condition et forme phisyque , ...allors "foncez" pour voir tout cela et je n'y vois aucun probleme perso !..je voulais juste vous "prévenir" que cela ne se passe pas toujours comme l'on imagine d'ici , ...car la fatique et le décalage font par fois des ravages chez les "normallement constitués" pendant une certiane période , .... periode qui dure comme indiqué plus haut !
Concernant Patong , ....si 95% des "gens normaux" trouvant Patong inomable et infrequantable c'est qu'il y a une bonne rasion de les croires!..c'est tous après a vous de le decouvrir par vous même si telle est votre volonté !.
Pour Ko Phi Phi vous pouvez arriver sans réservation vous trouverait toujours un truc sur place pour passez une ou 2 nuits (voir plus )car en avril pas grand monde à Ko Phi Phi ce qui n'est pas le cas de décembre à fin février , ...ou il faut absollument réserver avant d'y mettre un pied sur l'ïle !
Le trajer par bateau vers Ko Phi Phi ets cool et super simpa à vivre (1h40min de bonneurs )..par contre prenez le GROS bateau au lieu de petites navettes = plus sur et confortable pour le même temps de trajet ou présque !!...vous avez des agence dans chaque coin de rue à Phuket qui vendant ou proposent des "arangements" 1 j ou 2 J = hôtels sur place pour Ko Phi Phi A/R open ou fixe !..ou seullement le trajet A/R sec (open veut dire que vous n'étes pas obligé de rentrer le jour même si cella vous plait sur place )=> environ 1200 THB A/R (en basse saison pour et deux à 1€ = 42THB en ce moment faite les calculs vosu même )si c'est que le trajet !?...ce que je fait quand je part a KPP "hors saison", ... sinon on vous colle des hôtels pas tres bien et pas bon marché (ou toujours les plus cher sans y étres les meyeurs !!) non plus et ça "systematiquement" ....(ils touchent sur tout les Thais en terme des commissions perçus et s'arange bcp entre "copains"pôur plumer le faring vite fait bien fait ! !!!)
Aucun probleme en avril (basse sasion !!)sur Ko Phi Phi pour vous loger par vous même en choisisent tranquillement se qui vous plait le plus comme endroit !, ...par contre la méteo etait plustot catastrophique ces dernier temps = inondatioj importantes dasn le sud de la Thailande y compris à Ko Phi Phi !..;ésperont que cela vas s'arranger !!..rensegnez vous !!!...
Soyez rassuré !!, ...la Thailande c'est un magnifique pays et vous "serez encnanté d'y etre aller" ....même si perso je n'aurai pas obter pour la solution d'aller si loin pour si cour !!...la 1ere fois 10jours , ..puis quiq sait !?, ....quant vous aurez compris comment cela "fonctionne" vous resterez la prochaine fois plus long !

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:

Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

Any advice? I was thinking of Malaysia or Indonesia, like Sulawesi, for example (all countries and islands in Southeast Asia interest me except Bali).

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

Thanks for all your contributions on the forum—they’ve really helped me plan my trip. There are four of us friends heading to Sulawesi for 20 days. Based on all your advice, I’ve put together the following itinerary:
July 30: Makassar – sightseeing
July 31: Makassar – sightseeing + overnight bus to Rantepao
August 1–7: Tana Toraja with a guide
August 7: Tana Toraja to Tentena + visit Tentena
August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands
August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts)
August 15: Depart Togian Islands for Luwuk
August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar
August 17: Rammang Rammang
August 18: Stroll in Makassar, then return home
Overall, what do you think?
I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
