5-hour layover in Dubai

Hello, I’m traveling this May to France and have a layover in Dubai with a 4h45 connection. Could you let me know if I need to collect my luggage when I arrive at Terminal 3 to depart from the same terminal? My travel agency is telling me to pick it up, go through customs, and then check in again for my departure with my luggage. That seems odd to me. Could you confirm whether this is correct or not? Best regards.

Hi there, It all depends on your ticket. If you have a single ticket for your entire journey, you don’t need to collect your luggage in Dubai. Where are you flying from? Which airline? Could you give us the details of the flights you’re taking?
Cordialement, Patrick.

Hi there,

The agency sold you a ticket with 2 different PNRs: one for Air Calin from Nouméa to Singapore, and one for Emirates from Singapore to Nice via Dubai. So, you’ll need to go through border formalities, collect your luggage, and then clear customs in Singapore. You arrive at Terminal 3 in Singapore and depart from Terminal 1 with Emirates, so you’ll take the train that connects the terminals to get to Terminal 1. At the departures level, check in with Emirates for Nice. In Dubai, you won’t need to collect your luggage—they’ll go straight to Nice. You’ve got an 8-hour layover in Dubai in the same terminal, so relax and just check the screens for your departure gate to Nice if it’s not already on your boarding pass. You’ll do the same thing on the way back, but in reverse.

During your layover on the return trip in Singapore, you’ll have time to explore the airport, check out Jewel—it’s a one-of-a-kind experience in an airport, and it’s free! Experience Wonder at Jewel Changi Airport - Jewel Changi Airport

To confirm, when you check in your luggage in Nouméa, just ask the agent.
Cordialement, Patrick.

I’ve got two suggestions:

1) Ask the Aircalin agent when you check in your luggage. Just because the PNR code is different doesn’t mean you’ll have to collect your bags in Singapore. Emirates lists Aircalin as an interline partner, which usually means your luggage will be checked through to your final destination.

2) I’d recommend deleting the screenshot of your itinerary—it shows your last name and the 6-character booking reference, which would let anyone look up your details on Emirates’ website (and potentially add passport info or change seats).

Hi, As mentioned above, Air Calin has interline agreements with Emirates. Just ask in Nouméa when you check in to confirm. [;)]
