J'ai une petite question s'adressant aux personnes qui ont fait un séjour linguistique à New York : combien d'argent avez-vous dépensé en 6 mois (en comptant l'école, l'hébergement, la nourriture, les transports, les loisirs...).
Je pense partir en janvier prochain mais je fais actuellement des simulations de prêt pour pouvoir payer ce projet : autant dire que le prix des écoles et l'hébergement est effrayant ! Du coup, je ne sais plus comment faire car j'ai l'impression que même 20 000 euros ne suffira pas pour 6 mois et je peux difficilement faire plus !
c'est vrai que les séjours linguistiques sont horriblement chères, et en plus, c'est malheureusement pas en 6 mois que tu deviendras bilingue. Comptez environ 3000euros par mois, tout compris. (en passant par des agences, après, je sais que c'est possible de prendre des cours séparemment, hébergement également, et ça peut venir UN PEU moins chère).
Si l'objectif est essentiellement d'apprendre l'anglais, mieux vaut faire un PVT dans un pays anglophone (Canada, Australie, Nouvelle-Zélandes, UK) car comme ça on peut travailler de côté en suivant des cours. On apprend mieux en étant plongé dans un environnement de travail que dans une salle parmi des tas d'étrangers.
Les écoles de langues à l'étranger coûtent très cher surtout si le séjour dure longtemps...et NY c'est pas donné. C'est une belle expérience mais l'investissement financier est énorme.

Salut ma soeur est partie à NY justement l'année derniere avec un organisme, EF (un logo bleu et blanc il me semble) c'était plus simple et pour une année au moins elle était sûre ! Ca lui a couté dans les 12000 euros tout compris : vol, cours, logement et bouffe. A priori elle a été contente et elle a bien appris. Bonnes recherches !
C'est vrai que 12000 euros ça ne me semble pas cher non plus d'autant plus que EF est parmi les plus chers et ont plutôt mauvaise réputation !
Je commence à réfléchir au PVT en partant peut-être seulement 2 mois à NY avant (l'envie d'y aller est trop forte!). Ou peut-être faire 4 mois de cours intensif et 2 mois de stage, ce qui revient moins cher que les cours !
Tu peux toujours leur demander un devis, ca ne te coute rien, de mémoire, ma soeur avait eu le billet d'avion offert. Allez bon courage dans tes recherches !
les 12'000 évoqués datent d'il y a 7-8 mois... (septembrre-décembre 2010). Même si les prix ont montés, la différence est considérable là. C'est vrai que on a laissé tombé pour finir car ce sont uniquement des commerçant qui sont là pour vendre leurs produits, ils sont pas nets, il y a une part de mensonge dans leurs présentation dans leurs agence... EF est à éviter je trouve aussi. Il y'avait une offre avant noël qui stipulait que l'avion était offert jusqu'à 1000 francs suisse. (800euros environ). Mais en intensif c'est dans les 2500 (avec logement, et non, ce n'était pas en chambre individuelle). Mais dans ce prix, Il y a les transports, la nourriture du midi (ou soir), les activités, l'éventuel visa, le transfert aéroport (et celui que EF propose est une pure arnaque), le vol d'avion qui est conséquent suivent où on veut aller qui n'est pas compter dans les 2500!... bref ça devient très vite une petite fortune.
On n'a pas du tout eu la même impression de l'organisme comme quoi, tous les gouts sont dans la nature.
En tous les cas en France et en euros on a été bien accueilli et tout s'est passé comme prévu et comme décrit avant de partir et pas de surprise au niveau du prix.
De mon côté je recommende et ensuite chacun se fait son opinion 😉
J'ai fais pareil que toi et je rentre à peine de New-York.
Pour le budget tout dépend de ta personnalité et de là ou tivivres à New-York.Pour ma part, je suis allé là bas, j'ai profité à fond de la la ville, j'ai residé qu'à Manhattan et downtown (d'ailleurs je te conseille d'habitais downtown car c'est là ou tu profiteras le mieux).
Pour le logement en colocation compte pour un truc potable: 1200à 1400$/mois (le loyer c'est le budget le plus cher à New-York)
Sorties et restaurant: 600$/mois
Shopping: ca dépend de toi et si tu aimes ca tu vas etre ravies sur new-York, c'est topissime et pas cher!!!Il y a des soldes toute l'année!!!
Courses pour la nourriture (ca coute cher, et d'ailleurs ca revient moins cher de manger au resto :-) : 400$/mois
carte metro: 65$/mois
Abonnement téléphonique: 40$/mois avec simple mobile et tu a sles textos illimités et appel illimité (textos illimité même vers la france :-)
Total environs: 2400$ (soit environs 1900€/mois)
Si tu veux habiter seule compte 2200$ le loyer , je te conseille East village, Lower east side (ce sont des quartiers supers bien et moins cher que Soho ou west village).
J'ai habité à Soho, puis à east village puis à Lower east side et j'ai même habité 15jours à chinatown et une semaine à upper east side pendant l'ouragan :-)
Il y a une ecole pour prendre des cours d'anglais gratuits à Chelsea.J'ai suivis ces cours qui sont très bien.
